When you first walk in you immediately see the bar and a room covered in old school comic decor. The hipster vibe is real here. The bar is big and spacious or you can sit at a table. It's always cold here so bring a jacket. In the back you can choose from an array of video games to play while you drink your beer. They have mostly old school games like pac man, pinball and Timber. But the selection is large. They recently brought in 3D pong game which is must if you come here. Their beer selection is large and the food is delicious. This review is mainly for the food, not for the awesome games this place has in store. The food is.... Horrible. I got the Turkey Reuben and it was probably the worst Reuben I have ever had. It lacked flavor/life. It was like taking a bite out of cardboard, but it was so bland that it didn't even taste like cardboard. The person I was with got the tater tots and I tried one. Tasted the same as the Rueben. Bland and void of any life. The only thing I liked were the fries. They were coated in a seasoning that Killer Burger uses on their fries. If I had been so drunk to where I would need to be rushed to the ER I could see the food as being some what decent. read more

We always have fun with the retro video games. Food is delicious and the service always top notch. Have loved the pork belly tacos, pulled pork sliders, and the mac and cheese. Usually we grab a beer and snack, then work out on the old time video games. Awesome place. read more

The Mac and Cheese is hearty, delicious comfort food. Creamy, rich, and smooth without any particularly strong flavors, finished with satisfyingly crunchy breadcrumbs. I would definitely get it again. The Coltrane is unique, well plated, well cooked, great execution. A nice surprise. The Turkey Reuben comes with a mountain of fries (couldn't stop eating these!) but the sandwich was somewhat disappointing: the sauerkraut was sweet, not enough bite for my taste, and only yellow mustard available. For me, a Reuben without horseradish just isn't a Reuben. Maybe a nice horseradish mustard could have saved the day. Atmosphere is awesome, like an arcade for grown ups. Fun!!! read more

One of my favorite places on Earth. If you don't follow my reviews on Yelp, I'll fill you in. I'm VERY selective with my five star reviews! This place DESERVES IT!!! I can't say anything negative about this place. They have a GREAT selection of games, probably all of the ones that you would ever want to play. At least, play seriously, and play a lot, lol! They have a coin machine, obviously, that works with cash, AND cards! The service is outstanding, the employees are nice, and the food is great! (DEFINITELY check out the fries! I believe that they're just regular fries, but I'm not 100% sure, because I wasn't the one that ordered them, and I wasn't there when they were ordered.) The place looks great on the inside, AND on the outside! (There's bike racks with Pac-Man ghosts on them, as well as an aluminum Mario on the Men's bathroom door! I think that it was Mario. I HOPE that I'm remembering correctly, lol!) The colors from the lights, and everything inside, add to the GREAT vibe that they have got going on inside! They also have TV's that, while I was there, were playing Syfy and Comedy Central, as well as old commercials (and maybe some other stuff. I didn't watch that TV as much as the other two, and I didn't watch much of the TV because I was playing games, lol!) They also have some GREAT posters! My friends all drink, and they said that the drinks that they had were great! I can't recommend this place enough. I've been here a few rimes over the last couple years and have always had a great experience! The staff have always been amazing and friendly, and the beers and ciders on tap are also always amazing. The games are super fun and this is now my go-to hang out spot. I posted the seasonal veggie wrap bc I LOVED IT! I've had a couple of things here and they've all been delicious but this takes the cake. It was fresh and flavorful and crunchy, I wish it was always on the menu! This place has a cool interior, good food, and awesome old school video games. We were visiting the area and definitely wanted to check it out. Started with the toasted ravioli, excellent, not greasy and I really liked the balsamic reduction. I didn't care for the marinara it was served with, it was a little watery and oniony teasing for my taste, but they were scrumptious without it. I also got the turkey Reuben which I enjoyed, but the turkey on it tasted like plain turkey to me, and not turkey pastrami. Perhaps they have changed the menu, in which case they need to update the menu, because while the sandwich was good, I was disappointed it wasn't more like pastrami. The fries were tasty as well. We got the Mac and cheese which was served piping hot, and was very creamy. Whole cloves of roasted garlic were throughout the dish. After lunch we played a few video games, which was fun. Great atmosphere and concept. My husband and I went there and were amazed at all the different games they had. It's also nice that they rotate out games. One thing we really appreciated was some games were free (Monday special). Once we were out of quarters we still could play. Their food was okay, nothing remarkable but your typical pub choices. Found myself in Salem, Oregon and came across this great gem. It's a cross between an arcade, a bar and a restaurant. I'm watching what I eat (at least for the first month of 2020 lol) so I decided to try the salad. Man, what a great salad! There's something special about this place. About how they get it right. For example, the games. They start from the old ones like PacMan or Qbert, and then you get into the 90s in the other room with all the fighting stuff like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, some pretty awesome flippers plus the 4-person driving games. And most games are a quarter, which is what keeps the place going, because that way you can keep going around without breaking the bank and makes the Coin Jam a great way to start a night before going somewhere else. Then of course it's also a pub with pretty good food, which keeps the mood up, and means you can also take some time off the arcade games and just chill with a beer, or drink it as you play. I always loved arcades growing up, and Coin Jam combines the nostalgia of yesteryear with good food and beer to form the ultimate arcade experience. Food is excellent, beer is plentiful with a good mix of local brews and classics on tap. The arcade machines are mostly 80-90's classics with the exception of a few newer machines. Looking for Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, Astroids, Tempest, and Street Fighter? You're covered. They also have a decent selection of pinball machines and a few newer arcades. Coin Jam just gets it. Nostalgia is everywhere as other reviewers have pointed out, and you really feel taken back in time. I love to come here and burn a few hours in the late afternoon with a cold beer and a heavy dose of nostalgia - I recommend doing the same sometime. read more

I missed Coin Jam so much, when they reopened I was delighted with the precautions they took for COVID. I went a few times in the past couple months and had a great, safe time! Sadly, this past weekend was probably my last time there for a while. There were people walking maskless throughout the front bar area and the arcade rooms in the back. In fact, the employee at the door was allowing an entire group of people to enter without masks. This group of people turned out to be a birthday party celebration, where all 20ish people loudly, and masklessly, sang happy birthday. It felt way less safe than in the past. I hope they reconsider their mask requirements so that everyone can feel safe while they play at Coin Jam. Food was delicious, as always. read more

They usually have free pinball games on Friday after 8pm. We went there once while driving past Salem. We also had their taco special which was pricey but yummy. So when my husband and I past through Salem again for the total eclipse. We stayed at Salem the whole day just to have fun. Then they told us that they don't have the free pinball that day. First of all, you need to understand that I was raised on arcades. But that i also live in Anchorage, Alaska. We have nothing anymore. Except Dave and Busters, which is fun, but definitely more flash than substance. Coin Jam brought me back to my childhood....all that was missing was a DDR machine (like seriously....fix that). This place is home. The walls are decked withup framed scales of classic Marvel Comic covers from the 60s. The Office was playing on one of the tvs above the bar. One door is actually a replica of Han Solo frozen in carbonate. Classic arcades ranging from the generation of Discs of Tron and Vs. Duck Hunt, to NBA Jam and Sailor Moon (a beat em up.) To Neo Geo jams and Strikers 1945, Steeet Fighter II, Mario Kart DX and Guitar Hero...the list goes on. The pinball is to die for...and they take quarters. REAL QUARTERS. I didnt even try any of the food or beer..so i cant comment on that. But boy did I have a blast. It made no sense. Im moving to Portland. read more

My review is for the food. It looked the delicious but was bland. I ordered the philly. It didn't taste like anything. I tried my fiancé's Mac and cheese and it was just as bland. They basically tasted the same. The spinach and artichoke dip was decent. The bread that came with it was great! At least we had good service. Tons of games to choose from, that part is super cool. Someone who operates a business in Salem is finally paying attention! Paying attention to what gets people licking their television screens, that is. For years I've wondered why no one in Salem was recreating the amazing dishes we see every day on the Food Network and Travel Channel. It seems so obvious, right? The last thing that this godawful town needs is another 'western' burger or TBA. Blech. Here you'll find some goddamn delicious smothered fries that have--get this--slow cooked ox tail and its accompanying gravy. Made in house, of course. Also featured is a 'juicy' burger. For those of you that don't know, it's a burger with cheese in the middle that gushes out when cut. Tell me you didn't die when you saw Adam Richman eat this. At any rate, the guy who owns this place had got a brain. I love that he's trying to bring interesting and different food to this pit of a town. And what better venue than a bar-cade? A bar-cade that is 21 and and over at all times no less! On top of the good food (and arcade, of course) I experienced stellar customer service. I wish we had gotten the girls name so I could compliment her personally, as she was that amazing. The kitchen staff even wandered out and chatted us up about the food. Come to find out the most awesome arcade and the most outstanding food I have tasted in quite a minute from an unappealing storefront!
