Invited out to see stand up comedy. Arrived early and my group got a spot at the bar. There were two bartenders and one cook, all slammed with orders. We were told it would be a while to get food, and people had to patiently wait to order drinks. No table service. They should've had at least one more bartender and cook on that night to handle the crowd, but overall the food was decent and not as long a wait as expected. Their menu options were pretty solid, with more listed on a sign at the bar. They had O'Doul's non-alc beer, which was a plus. I'd like to see more options like Heineken, mocktails, as sobriety becomes a thing for many people these days. They also had a free water cooler for the public. For a relatively small place, there's ample booth seating all around the walls and taller tables and barstools on the floor. The heaters and fireplace not only brought warmth, but added ambience to the patio. I loved the custom bathroom doors. The Ladies room only had one stall, and there was a line on occasion, but not for long. The sign outside advertised a Cardz Against Humanity night, they do Tacos & Trivia on Tuesdays, and there was a flyer for a paint party, so they try to keep it lively. It was rather loud and there were rude people talking over the comedians, something to keep in mind if representative of their regulars. read more

We went on a random Thursday to experience the live music. Michael Taylor played a fantastic set and the food was really tasty as well. We were happily surprised with the $10 Burger Thursday deal, and the mixed drinks were flavorful, though they seemed weak on the alcohol. read more

I tripped on the floor were there was a plank sticking out near the pool tables. The bartenders tried to say I was drunk, but it was the fact that they can't fix their floors. bartenders and service was ok. Just fix your floors. read more

Will definitely be back! Unfortunately I didn't make it before the kitchen closed but they still had fried food, I got the pickle fries which were really good! Prices on food and drinks were not bad at all. Bartender was nice and I enjoyed everything I had. read more

Chuck beat me to this review...but I wouldn't have gone here without his say so either, so I guess we'll call that a draw. This joint has been a lot of different Bar & Grills. I remember it first as the Gas Light, then it was something else (Name slips my mind), and now The Shack. The inside looks the same as I remember from the Gas Light. But they have some great specials and some great food. Every day from 5-7 they have 2 dollar appetizers. The first few times I came here, I got the full on appetizer. Now, the portions are smaller with the two bucks. Still, two orders comes out to less than the original price, and you get more, so I guess it sort of works out. They have a lot of different food options, but I listened to Chuck and ordered a cheeseburger, with bacon. Went with the onion rings instead of their fries, and have done so time and time again. The burger is thick, juicy, cooked well, with plenty of bacon and cheese. It's also super hot, on a great tasting bun. The onion rings are plentiful, huge, and their taste is outstanding. It's hard to describe, but they are crisp, flavourful, and very hot. Service has normally been stellar, though the last time I went, I actually had to go up to the bar to get not only a refill on my soda (maybe cuz most of the other times I get beer, I was served quicker), but also to pay my bill. There was a large group in the corner, but the waitress walked back and forth a few times and just avoided my eyes. I don't know...maybe they don't like people to come in and eat without drinking booze...but whatever. Food's still good. read more

The girls bartending tonite where rude and not happy the entire time I was there with a few friends they also told some people that they got in a altercation with that they were fat and needed to get plastic surgery after they were given advice about being more positive when bartending cause they could receive tips and appreciation, they also scoffed when someone was asking to cash out a lottery ticket like there job was too much for them . I used to go to the Shak alot a few years ago. It was ok then. Now? Not so much. The bartenders were just plain rude. Never once asked if I needed anything and acted like it was an inconvenience to even wait on me. Then I bought food to go. First they said the specials menu wasnt for today and that they had no steak. Then all of a sudden they came up with one. Didnt ask how I wanted it and gave me a bunch of soggy fries with it. I noiticed it on a table near me when it was done. Never even said a word to me. I was sorta disgusted by the way they acted. The food? I took the itty bitty steak I think was literally microwaved and fed it to my dogs. $15 was expensive for that. And i tipped them $10. Color me stupid but I dont recommend The Shak for any reason. Snobby staff and they dont take kindly to non regulars and can definitely feel the cold shoulder from waitresses. I highly suggest avoiding this hole. Food is expensive and very poor plain quality. We were charged double and our bill was a big surprise which i could tell the waitress enjoyed ripping me off and insisting the bill was correct when she clearly misled us while we were ordering and i asking about prices. My husband and I stop in at The Shack whenever we get a chance and have always been happy with the service, and the food. The hamburgers and fries are some of the best we have had here in town. Today we stopped in to find they had a new Taco Tuesday special. We decided to give it a try, and we're so glad that we did. It was soooo good! They had regular beef tacos 2 for $1, and to our surprise, they also had fish, chicken, or pork tacos to choose from,. Very good prices and they tasted really good. They added cabbage, cilantro and lime and were delicious. I have never been to a Taco Tuesday where they offered such a variety. I look forward to trying them again. Our bartender today was Cody. He was so attentive, quick, and friendly. He could teach lessons to on how to bar tend! I definitely suggest trying The Shack for food and drinks. read more

I don't frequent these types of bars often unless I'm out with friends for a Bday or some occasion. That being said, this is the second time I've been to The Shack in the last couple months and the service was so slow, my group only managed to get one drink In a 1.5 hr timeframe, served. If we would have known this seemed to be "normal", we would have stayed where we were downtown. read more

My husband and I love going to The Shack! The service is excellent and the food is yummy! They used to have the appetizer specials at 5p, but the special now starts at 8p. On Wednesdays they have drinks for $2. My hubby likes the Thursday special that Jesse likes for $4 ... the onion rings rock! We will keep going back. Alana, was one of the main reasons I started going in there and realized the food was fantastic and the place was a quality bar.....BRING BACK ALANA! The worst bar I have ever been to. The music is so loud you can't hear anyone talk and I ordered two drinks that were $12 and I gave the bartender a $50 and only received $8 back. I explained to her the situation and she argued with me and wouldn't give me the rest of my money. What a rip off! read more

Worst food and service ever. We ordered a Blue cheese burger add bacon, never got the bacon and the burger was a round dried out over cooked hockey puck with 2 inches of bun left around the burger. Also ordered chicken strips which I believe Dairy Queen's are bigger, the fries for both meals were grease logged and the oil tasted old. Also waited a while for beverage refills so we could choke down the dried out meat. Really tacky when the server calls you/husband Hun or Honey repeatedly. I have been to this bar several times this summer. The last time I was there we were ripped off!!! We were charged twice for our meal. I am not worried about people making an error, but when we notified the waitress she took our card and said she would credit our account. The next day we found that she had not credited our account. We went down to talk to the manager Cody, we humbly tried to explain the situation... Cody made us feel like we were trying to get away with something and requested us to bring him our bank statement. Yikes, it was 30 dollars. When we were in the midst of explaining this accounting error, Cody dialed the waitress. Which i thought is rude, because he was in the middle of talking to us. After a few eye rolls, Cody then prededed to yell at us and ask us why we were rude to the waitress. At that point we could tell the situation would not work out, as we walked out Cody yelled " Your mistake is being fucking rude to the waitress." I have seen this behavior before , i work with middleschoolers. No offense to middle school kids in general. Just a word to the wise, being polite to the wait staff will not protect your bank account in this establishment. Go elsewhere. read more
