I got there around 12pm and the wait was about 20 minutes to order, which was considerably less than what I'd seen in Tiktok videos. Morristown, NJ - this is a VERY popular food truck that my husband has been raving about for years. So when a birthday party landed us in the neighborhood on a recent Sunday afternoon, he volunteered to make the pickup while the kid and I attended, as I suspected I would still need real food after cake and plain pizza. Two hours later(!!!), he finally emerges carrying two massive trays of steak over fries, which was all they had by late afternoon. Gone were the patacon (plantain) burger I had hoped for, the cheesesteak, and even grilled chicken. Perhaps because my expectations were so hyped up, I found the food rather anti-climactic. The steak was kind of bland and a bit tough, though rescued by the flavorful and creamy red & white sauces generously drizzled over the top. I'll grant that the portion size is absurd. Quantity over quality is not my thing, but that platter could easily feed two. (I enjoyed it more after I brought the leftovers home and improved it with some salt.) The hand-cut fries are fresh and good, but were soggy under the pile of meat, and sat in a small pool of grease resting at the bottom of the container. I would've enjoyed them more as a side. Hours are 12-5pm Tuesday through Sunday, but the line at 6pm on a Sunday still wrapped around the block, so they'll apparently serve until the food runs out, but if you come later in the day (hubs arrived mid-afternoon but didn't get to the ordering window til almost closing time), be prepared for limited options. I'm told the burger receives high marks, which I believe, but am allergic to lines so am unlikely to wait to find out. 3.5 stars but rounding up to 4 as my husband really likes the owner (who wasn't there that day). read more

While most people have sushi as their first post-partum meal request, I wanted a steak and fries with truffle chimichurri from Colonial Grill. My husband drove from Morristown Medical Center to pick one up for me while I was with our newborn at the hospital, but the line for the cart was 1.5 hours long, which was too long for him to separated from us and our new baby while I recovered. Unfortunately he had to turn around empty handed, which was very disappointing for me. We returned again three weeks later, with our newborn, and again the line was around 1 hour long, which was too long to wait with a new baby. I wish they would do something to make their food more accessible and minimize wait times, because we have had to turn away twice! We finally placed an order in advance from their other, non-food-truck location. The menu here was limited to just the steak and fries, so I was in luck. The food was amazing, but probably would have been even better if we didnt have to do takeout, as I feel steak is best eaten on the spot and does not fare well with longer car rides. The fries were a little soggy, but the chimichurri sauce was AMAZING and my steak was still tender by the time it got home. Overall I would love to return when our baby gets a bit bigger and try some other menu items. While you're waiting, they even give you a small sample of their fries and sauce to snack on. We ordered a chicken gyro, a burger, and the steak and chicken fries. Everything was flavorful, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. The portions are huge & honestly, two people (maybe even three) could share one tray. Customer service was a 10/10. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and fun. I had my dog with me and they even gave me a little steak for him, which was such a sweet touch. They're parked right by the Morristown Green, so you can grab your food and enjoy it in the park. They accept cash and all major credit cards, and they offer a discount if you pay cash. It took about 25ish minutes in line to place my order, and then about 30ish minutes to get the food. I went with the steak and fries, and they even ask how you want the steak cooked. Three words: Divine & Top Notch I have only had meat probably a dozen times in the past 8 years, but when I saw this place on YouTube I was like today is a great day to eat meat. So, after a short wait in the line the guy working who I assume is the owner/son was very welcoming, friendly and courteous. He asked if we had been there before and we said no so he said let me give you some fries to try while you're ordering. Wow, just wow! The flavors on that little bit of fries he gave us was on a different level of flavor town. We then proceeded to order the colonial burger and fries and he asked us how we wanted it cooked(medium of course) and what we wanted on it and I said make it how you like it and he did. After about 15-20 he walked over to the window and said that it was almost done. Then minutes later the father/owner I assume walked over and said our name and we both looked at it and smiled. He asked if wanted it sauced up and we both said, Hell Yeah! So we took our burger, fries, and Coke Zero and sat on a bench in front of the fountain which is almost directly in front of the food truck and sat down and dug in. I don't think either one of us was prepared for the incredible flavor this burger has. I took the first bite and looked at her and said, OMG! She then grabbed it and took the next bit and said, OMG! I don't know any other words that describes their burger and fries except, OMG! I am thankful this place is in business and I wish them the best in their future endeavors and I hope to see their business popping up all around the Morristown area. My boyfriend and I went to Colonial tonight. My first time but not his. Him and his friend are crazy for this truck. We waited in line for quite some time, were offered fries to munch on while we waited which was so nice. And on top of waiting for a while, the owners son gave us two beverages on them. It was totally worth the wait. The only thing I want to recommend is a knife with the plastic fork so I can cut the meat up a bit more for myself. Other than that. Amazing. Holy smokes, I've seen this place on TikTok and Instagram, and I've always wanted to try it. Usually see it with lines that wrap around the block or at least the town Square located in Morristown New Jersey. I got there at about 5:30 in the evening to grab a dinner and the crew that was working in the food truck were well choreographed. I learned that this is a family business run by a father and son and you always see on their social media feed giving out samples of their fries with their chimichurri sauce and their garlic truffle sauce. I'm here to tell you this is one of the best meals I've ever had, let alone from a food truck. The combination of these two sauces are unbelievable. I put myself in the capable hands of the young man at the counter, who made me steak over a bed of fries, a staple often featured as part of their feed, and a cheeseburger with fries and chimichurri sauce on them. I couldn't get over how good they were. Cheeseburgers are my absolute pig out food and this was definitely a top five burger for me. Ever. As I got my food, there was definitely a larger line forming as the dinnertime crowd came ambling up from the town Square where the food truck is parked. It was a beautiful October night and I was able to sit on a bench right near the truck and eat my food. Needless to say there was a lot left over and I brought it back to the hotel room with me. We drove from Harlem after hearing about this food truck. It was worth the drive and the wait in line. The service was great and provided with a smile even thought they were under pressure. The sample fries were definitely welcomed. Like everyone says the price was unbelievable, the portion was amazing, and it taste great too.
