I stayed at this hotel for Youth New England's Wrestling Championship, and the hotel was fully booked for that event. After driving for 8 hours we arrived and my wrestlers were excited for the hot tub, but it was out of operation. The next morning our room didn't have any hot water. Its very important for wrestlers to shower and practice hygiene before wrestling to prevent the spread of disease. I called the front desk and I was told too many people were showering at that time. After an hour the hot water never came on. My kids and myself had to wash by microwaving washcloths and using those to clean ourselves. The front desk assured me the hot water would be back by the end of the day. After I coached for 12 hours, and my kids wrestled all day we returned to find we still did not have hot water. I called the front desk and they told me we did. I was clear that we did not and they told us they would call someone. No one came to the room or did anything to fix it. Again, we washed with microwaved wash cloths. This is completely unacceptable for a hotel. Since I didn't get anywhere when I talked to the front desk staff I decided to send an e-mail, but they don't have any email information on their website, just the phone number to the front desk. read more

We had our wedding at the Colonial Hotel on NOve,ber 1st and it was absolutely amazing. Much in part to our wedding planner Mary. She was so attentive and kept us on track and broke down the entir process for us from start to finish. She was incredibly friendly and detail oriented. We looked at a few other venues before seeing the Colonial and we had mixed feelings every where els ewe went. As a gay couple we were hit wiht alot of hate when searching fo ra venue and even vendors but the Colonial made u feel welcome and right at home. As a type A personality I imagined I would have a hard time letting someone else help plan or take over and do what needed to be done but Mary put me at ease right from the get go. The staff on he day of the wedding was also incredible. They went out of their way to take care of us in anyway we needed and were so very freindly. The wedding was a hit and people are still reaching out to us to tell us how much they loved it. Most even saying it was the best wedding they have ever gone to. 10 out of 10 would recommend booking this venue for your wedding. The old time charm and he modern decor was awesome. Although the wedding we attended was beautiful, we had trouble with our room. While putting my two small children to bed, we found a lighter, pill and a device for smoking underneath the couch cushion. We were given another room, but due to the hazardous material found, we requested a partial refund for the one night. If my children had some in contact with those items, they could have been seriously hurt. Management ignored my first correspondence, and only replied when I added other departments to the email. Even so, they by passed any comments of a refund and told me they can assure me the room was cleaned properly. My response was that if it was cleaned properly, we would not have found drug paraphernalia in our room. For a hotel that does so well, one night refunded shouldn't be an issue. DRUGS were found in our room with two children staying there. This is utterly disgusting behavior by the management. I have mixed feelings about this hotel my girlfriend and I stayed here on a Saturday night January 18, The Pros: The hotel is beautiful, The Cons: there was only 2 floors with this hotel so you don't get much of a view when we checked in we were informed the elevator wasn't working we had to carry our luggage up on the second floor I'm almost 66 years old my girlfriend 64 years old with our AAA discount the room for one night was $ 146.00 dollars, the conditioner in the bathtub was empty, they had no safety rails in the bathtub so if you were to fall oh well, they do have a bar/restaurant there we when up to the bar ordered a drink we had to ask to please just wipe down where we were sitting it was all sticky, they do have a breakfast buffet $18.00 dollars per person very, very limited eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal they didn't even have toast or English muffins, the heater/AC in the room was loud so it was kind of tough to fall asleep, lastly they do have a pool/hot tub we decided to go into the hot tub lukewarm at best we tried the pool ICE COLD we jumped right out!!! read more

Very disappointed in this hotel. My nephew booked many rooms for his wedding. He had small welcome bags to give to the out of town guests as they arrived. This hotel charged $2 per bag plus tax plus an 'administrative fee' just to hand a bag to a guest! Ridiculous! The Doubletree Hotel in Leominster was happy to hand them out at no charge. The stay here was not acceptable in June 2024. The food in the restaurant was horrible amd over priced. Then the service was horrid as well. The toilet was clogged and overflowing and the front desk supervisor gave us a plunger and told us to clean it up and plunge ourselves. After complaining and saying I wanted a new room we moved this room had mold and mildew in ceiling and then they loved us again. Last room light did not work and we didn't say anything but asked to be refunded the next day and they did nothing for us and we're not friendly about it. Went to this hotel for a wedding. The wedding was spectacular and the hotel did a great job with it. The tent was incredible and so was the food. The accommodations were lacking to say the least. Extremely expensive rate for just one not for very subpar experience. The bed wasn't comfortable, and there was no flat sheet. The room got extremely hot, and we had to wake up in the middle of the night to turn on the A/C. The soap, shampoo, and conditioner that were provided was the smallest amount I've ever seen. The breakfast buffet was EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE, for just an okay buffet. The front desk woman that checked us in was rude and just didn't want to be there. I wanted to follow up with this review. The facts are still completely accurate. I did get a phone call a few days after the events and the owner of the hotel explained a number of issues related to my dissatisfaction and seemed very earnest in her desire to make things right. She acknowledged that the individuals involved at the hotel were completely in the wrong and that the owners were both educating people and addressing the problem. There was a discussion also about refunding me for my stay, although I am not aware they did. I just want to make it clear to anybody reading this that the owner made a very strong and earnest effort to reach out to me to prove to me that they were going to make things right at least for the future. If they addressed things as they said they would then my guess is no one else would have the negative experience that I had. My Daughter had a a christmas themed wedding recently and I can't say enough great things about the hotel and staff . Mary and her staff were top notch any questions she had were answered before we showed up to take a lot of anxiety out of the bride . We could not believe how professional they were from start to finish . Every detailed they had covered. We were constantly told don't worry about a thing we got you covered and they sure did deliver . Everyone that attended all said the same thing it was the best wedding they had ever been to , That's saying a lot because we have all been to beautiful weddings. I would rate this hotel much higher, but there is an employee named John or Jon that makes this place borderline unbearable to stay at. My company has booked several rooms with this hotel over the past few years, and the rooms are always nice. The employees at the front desk are always very friendly and helpful, and the housekeepers go above and beyond to meet our needs. Despite our interactions with staff at the hotel and restaurant being overwhelmingly positive, there is an employee who identifies as either the owner or the husband of the owner that consistently unsettled my employees. When I ask who he is, I'm told his name is John (or Jon.) and that he is at least management if not part-owner. I've heard him shouting, talking down to employees, making borderline racist and full-on misogynistic comments, and yelling on his cellphone (the conversation on his phone I heard, sounded like him yelling about money in some capacity. It seemed he was angry that money was missing or stolen, but his tone and volume disturbed me as well as my employees, and I assume it disturbed the mother and toddler in the lobby as well.) I asked about possibly getting a discounted rate for my company if we were to need to stay in the area again, and was referred to the sales department, but after discussions with my employees, I have decided to make arrangements elsewhere in the area specifically because myself and my employees don't feel right supporting a business that employs people like John/Jon. I grew up about a mile away from this hotel. I haven't lived in the area for decades but I come back to visit relatives, family reunions etc. The wife and I always stay here. Here's why. The Colonial Hotel is a basic mid-level hotel. Not mid-level in quality but in type. Not the Four seasons but not a Super 8 either. It has all the basics. Nice rooms of the usual types. An indoor pool and Jacuzzi. A bar that often has bands on the weekend. A decent restaurant. By the way, this is also a pet friendly hotel. This may be the cleanest hotel I have ever experienced. Everything is spotless from the rooms to the rugs in the hallways. The bathrooms are amazingly clean. The Colonial is not a chain but is privately owned. As a result the staff has a different, and exceptional outlook on customer service. You really feel appreciated. It you are traveling to central Massachusetts this is a great place to spend a night or two! read more

Unprofessional management, rude staff, miserable workers because they're treated awful. Dirty. Would never recommend. Hotel is extremely dirty, kitchen is even worse (ask me for pics). They treat their employees horribly. The 5 days I trained there I wasn't given a set or proper schedule, or an official job title as a salaried manager. I was "hired" as a Food and Beverage Director... which a typical salary for that position is 90-120K as a general medium across the State and Country. When I questioned their offer, they made up some stupid excuse, and I stupidly accepted. My offer letter was a written email from Nichole Moorsett. nothing in writing or paper, no expectations of schedule or hours were discussed. My request off prior to hire in my interview, for a prescheduled eye exam was blown off by the GM, and she considered it a no call no show. The managers I trained with were more concerned about talking smack about the owners, than actually training me, and doing their job. Everyone complained, and it was constant.... relentless.... drama, and it starts at the top with the GM Nichole Moorsett. Nichole Moorsett the General Manager Let Me Go via text message......That in and of itself says something regarding the professionalism of that establishment. I have never encountered that in a proper professional setting in over 20 years in this industry. I wasn't given my final pay until 4 days later.....Which is against the law. GM didn't even know the proper information for payroll, and dismissal laws. I had to correct her. I was given no reason for dismissal, Nichole refused a sit down for a meeting about it. I had to call the Attorney General's office to get things moving. Nichole Moorsett is more concerned with going tanning, than actually properly running a business. The UV rays are clearly interrupting her brain capacity to make proper professional decisions. She can not handle stress well at all, and this obviously isn't the right industry for her. The service is so slow and the people who work behind the desk barely acknowledge your existence.i walked in at check-in and there were two people on the computer. I have been going to Colonial Hotel for years since 2015 even having family from Chicago stay there. Always for most part enjoying my stays. Unfortunately, the most recent visit I was welcomed to a very dirty bath tub which I informed Holly of who works at Colonial Hotel . No bad reviews, just wanted to let hotel know for future reference. Then later that evening after check out, my nice feelings towards Colonial Hotel drastically changed after being accused of taking items from room ( a decorative pillow and a blanket) and without a phone call or any type communication, my bank account was charged. My hotel visits are to relax and for peace and I have my own furnishings at home, I do not need items from a hotel room. So I complained to Hotel. And I received an apology email from Colonial Hotel stating they would refund me what they charged me . But in any event, an apology email was given by Colonial Hotel and stated they would refund my account , so I thought all was good. Until yesterday morning when I call my bank and they inform me the reversal due to the hotel's system will not reverse for 72 business hours. I call hotel asking for assistance and that it needs attention immediately. What happens next is Peter ( owners son) telling me that their is nothing they can do for me and it is the bank's issue. I told him it is the Hotel's issue and Peter still argues that it is on bank's end. He also states if I have an issue I can call my attorney and he knows all about Banks and their processes. I called repeatedly trying to get assistance to just hearing front desk workers state that their is nothing they can do and being rude and hanging up on me as well. Then Peter and other hotel front desk worker laugh at me during my distress. Ultimately, my bank assisted me and pushed the reversal refund through and confirmed that it was indeed the hotel's system delaying the refund. Colonial has a great Lobby when you walk in but all else has gone downhill and after reading other recent reviews here, I see that as well . Think twice before staying at this Hotel. read more

I used to love this hotel, but this trip has completely changed my view of their ownership, management, and morals. My wife and I took a redeye out here with our service dog on Friday when we received word that our father was doing poorly and likely going to pass away. We made it just in time to see him before he lost consciousness. After he passed at 515pm on Sunday, I went to the front desk at 6pm and asked if I could move my checkout date to Tuesday rather than Wednesday. The manager wouldn't even call me herself she made her front desk girl call to tell me regardless of my situation and what we had been through they would not waive my charge for Tuesday night even tho they knew about it Sunday night. Apparently I was 5 hours late to tell them. Sorry I couldn't control when my father-in-law was going to die. Then to make matters worse they made us move rooms- 1 hour after my father in law passed- to a less nice room because apparently the two nights we had already been there they didn't realize we had our service dog. They made me move into a room with less accommodations including a basic tv whereas the initial room had a smart tv so at least we had our own programs. I cooperated in hopes that they would see that even though I was 5 hours late to request an earlier checkout date they would see that I was willing to be accommodating even though their employees made the mistake. After all they put us through they are going to keep our $200 for a night that we won't be there because I was 5 hours late to request it- and it was because I was in the hospital with my wife and father in law so he had family around as he passed. I cannot believe the lack of common decency and consideration for other humans under this management. I truly hope they experience something so unnerving. The exorbitant expense of flying across country last minute for a dying loved one only to come across a hotel taking advantage of people in a vulnerable situation as well as a disability requiring a service animal. They coaxed my sister into signing a contract for a wedding by promising to be accommodating (verbally)....and then going back on their word citing the contract. My sister tried to discuss rescheduling 8 months prior to the wedding, and was told they would revisit 2-3 months before. When it came time to reassess at the time they suggested, they told her it was too late to reschedule and that she would lose her deposit. She had wanted to reschedule far in advance when the contract still allowed, but they encouraged her not to! Save yourself the headache. When my family drove up to the hotel, we were surprised at how nice it looked! Very pretty from the outside. When we came inside, the staff were nice, but felt unprofessional and disorganized. That was when I started feeling a bit uncomfortable. We ended up finding a 2 way mirror in the lobby which was horrifying. I had the sense that they don't clean very thoroughly, because our room smelled musty. The small arcade was close to our room, which was underwhelming but our family enjoyed playing air hockey. We were not even told upon check in and then we had to go in a wild goose chase to find food in the area. The best option we found was a Dangelos 10 minutes away.) -the door to our room was broken. -the windows didn't lock (we were on the first floor and check these things.) -after the wedding we were outside hanging out and a rude employee (not wearing any uniform indicating he was staff) scolded us for "partying" (it was laughable... we are basically 40 year olds at this point... we wear eye cream and avoid hangovers.‍ But honestly, he was a dick about it. I get that this is part of his job, he just needs to work on his interpersonal skills. -oh, the cops showed up when we were in the lobby hoping to find some midnight snacks. So that made me feel safe. -there were no room service options (I think the hours were silly, like 5-8pm) and no one delivers pizza out there late night. I would get some Mama Celestes in that snack shop. -there was also no breakfast! Not even continental. And certainly, no room service options. *i know these complaints seem high Maintenence and first worldly, but for the price we paid for the room more should have been provided. If not due to COVID, that's fine but prorate that ish. Positives: -room was clean and comfortable. -great toiletries (shampoo AND conditioner, ladies!) -the most comfortable comforter I have ever wrapped my body in. I wanted to buy it (some hotels let you take stuff and charge you, but I didn't want to take the chance with my almost $300 security deposit that they hit us with on the morning of... file that under negative too. The hotel looks old and dilapidated upon first impression. The hotel was built in the 80's. Not well built. The floors creak no matter where and how you step. It is a pot smokers heaven. I thought I smelled pot smoke in my room, and went out in the hallway and was almost knocked down. I smelled smoke pungently in the hall way, contacted the front desk, nothing was done. You are not allowed to smoke in the rooms, but pot smoke is OK. You are also not allowed to bring alcohol from the outside, to your room. You can bring a bag of weed and smoke all you want. They are certainly not following the law. Weed is OK but alcohol is not? They take things from your room. The breakfast is a well done event. The lady that does the breakfast, makes it a grand event. She takes care and promotes pride when she does the breakfast service. The front staff is OK. Just slow and not very well in advancing their speed of check in. The WiFi is spotty. Working and then not working. If you need a bed to sleep in, and something close to work. This place will work. I have been traveling for over 384 months, for work, I know what I am talking about. July 10, 2021, my wedding day...This day was supposed to be the most amazing day of my life! It should have been flawless and positive! But that was NOT the case. There where many things that went amazing due to Mary Whitman and Kailee Moorshead (the head of wedding coordinating), and they made my ceremony and reception a dream come true. But, the colonial front desk staff, I believe named Chelsea, the Bartender Jason Mucci, and General Manager Nicole Moorshead did not leave a positive impression whatsoever. My day started off with a rude, irritated and snotty front desk employee. You would think you would want the face of your hotel to be someone welcoming, but Chelsea was the very opposite. She was filled with entitlement and acted as if we were asking too much. My bridesmaids and myself stayed in the bridal suit the night before the wedding, and we asked if there was any chance we could get it cleaned up a little bit due to us all getting ready in there later on for the wedding, and that me and my soon to be husband would be staying in that room. She told us that they "do not do housekeeping in a room that is booked more than one night by the same person", okay understandable, but newly weds we're going to be staying in that room later on, so we figured it wouldn't be too much to ask to get it vacuumed and for some fresh blankets and towels to be provided. After Chelsea had a very sour attitude with us, she and housekeeping were able to schedule someone to come in, but only after making the bridal party feel like a burden. Once the bridal party were back in their rooms my mom attempted to go speak to other guests and overheard Chelsea speaking negatively about the myself and the bridal party. This was incredibly disheartening, as we were just trying to make the day as perfect as possible. After this happened we decided not to let Chelsea set the mood of the day because that isn't fair. We decided to let it go until later and talk to the Nicole Moorshead , the general manager after the wedding. I wish this was the only negative experience we had on wedding day, but it wasn't. We went to the Hotel bar (we spent some time there the night before with no issues) after the wedding ended and after about 45 min of enjoying our time, one of the individuals in our group was accused of giving alcohol to a minor. This was absurd, and shocked all of us because it just wasn't true. The accused party became defensive, which was completely understandable...Even if he had become defensive, the bar tender was inappropriate to the whole group over a miscommunication. He became extremely angry, which Included yelling, swearing, and posturing which can be considered threatening. He lacked crisis management skills and he impulsively called the cops to prove his "power" in the situation. As the bride, I begged and pleaded with the bartender for him to be rational and that this was my wedding night he was ruining, and he looked at me with his hands waving around angrily, and his words were "if he (the individual he called the police on) didn't do anything wrong then the cops will leave" and the cops did leave, because this individual was accused of something that never happened. And the police officers agreed. We left the situation and all went back to our rooms. The next day we reached out to Nicole Moorshead, the general manager, hoping she would have some compassion for what happened in her hotel. She couldn't have cared less. She didn't take the time to figure out what happened, but insisted we were in the wrong for what happened after the wedding, without evidence. She brushed off the fact that her management and her staff needed more attention. We tried setting up a meeting with Nicole only for her not to respond. After 10 days , I reached back out to her so touch base, only for her to push my concerns onto another hotel Employee. Nicole is very good at sweeping things under the rug at her hotel, and that's exactly what she did to us. Thanks for the horrible wedding memories Colonial Inn staff and management. I would not recommend having a wedding here as long as Nicole runs the place. read more
