My desktop PC was attacked by a virus and would not boot up. My brother recommended that I should take my computer to "The Computer Shop" as he had taken his computer to this store several times before and had a good experience with them. At The Computer Shop they were upfront with what the problems may be, how to fix each problem, and quoted a price for each possibility. As it turned out, my hard drive was damaged by the virus and could not be saved. Fortunately, they were able to recover everything that was stored on the computer as I did not have any backup for the last 3 months before the virus attack. Later, they told me that I could replace the damaged hard disk drive (HDD) with the newer type of drive called solid state drive (SSD) that is faster and less failure-prone. They also installed an additional HDD inside the computer to serve as a simultaneous data backup (they used a HDD since it may be harder to recover data from a SSD than HDD in case of any drive failure). I've now been using my computer for a month with no problems. Throughout the repairs, I feel they were honest, informative, upfront with everything, and very friendly. I had a MacBook Pro that wouldn't boot after I took it upon myself to uninstall a program. I tried to to do my own data recovery... three trips to Best Buy and two to Fry's for all sorts of cables... I gave up. Went to yelp and searched for computer repair and up popped the computer shop. I called and spoke to Ray... he was very easy to speak with about my ordeal, he told me to come in bring the laptop and he quoted me right over the phone... came in, he immediately attended to me and started the data recovery process. Called this place twice. 1st for data recovery for a hard drive. They didn't know what they were talking about and couldn't answer simple questions. 2nd, I needed to a buy a flash drive. After my iPhone went through the washing machine cycle and wasn't working, I looked on the internet to find solutions (storing in a bag of rice for 24-48 hours, Apple Support repair 3-5 business days). Like may of us, I only use a cellphone and it's an indispensable part of life. After hitting a dead end driving to the closest "fix-it" option, I remembered the Computer Shop who repaired some laptops for my old job. They said they would do their best and try to get the phone repaired before the end of business on that day. Excellent service. Great staff who are not only knowledgeable but friendly as well. I had a 2011 Alienware laptop (high end gaming machine) start to go on the blink. I was getting the blue screen of death. Ray and his staff determined it was a heat-related issue, but they went ahead and fixed it as well as re-formatted the disk and re-installed my software (as I requested) for a great price. Do not trust this computer repair shop is not a customer service based at all, nor was the task completed that we needed. All we were requesting was to have them upload and transfer all of the information onto the newest version of Quickbooks. This as they said was a simple task, and did not think it would take more than 15min of their time. I called letting him know the password that I knew was correct, but was told that it was not working and we did not know why. After they told me to bring it home so he could logging our computers and transfer information via files, when he did this it came up with an error and did not work. We were very frustrated at this point with no results and spending 1 hour not 15min of his time trying unsuccessful solutions at $130 an hour. I then used my time and energy calling Quickbooks directly and they successfully walked me through the transferring of information. I requested a refund for my service at "The Computer Shop" but was denied because we "pay for time not results" .... to me this does not seem like a positive customer service policy. read more
