Called around plenty of repair shops nearing Ventura BLVD for a MacBook keyboard repair. The backlight on my keyboard died out and it's seen better days. Called ACS, explained to them my situation and they told me to come in right away to inspect the keyboard, I came about 20 minutes later and they told me that the keyboard has to be replaced and they could do the replacement today. I was quoted a very fair price compared to all the other businesses that I had called earlier, and after one hour I was called to come pick up my laptop with it's new keyboard and backlight. I have to say that it's very rare for repair shops to do the same-day repairs but I think there's something special about this place. I appreciate the service and the cooperation from ACS and I will recommend this place to anybody who needs a replacement or repair done on a computer. If you have a computer issue you MUST READ this! Took my alienware laptop here because it had no power. Eight ! weeks and multiple follow ups later they diagnosed and replaced the motherboard. $640. Computer had issues after..... kept freezing every few days, which it didn't do before. I brought it back to be looked at again because of this problem. Six ! weeks later it's returned to me with an "updated operating system" at no charge. Supposed to solve the problem.... It didn't. So I decide to get it checked out at Best Buy Geek Squat. Apparently the motherboard installed is not original and cause of the problem. They also replaced the RAM module but I couldn't get info on why. Cost of correct board and module: $1,100. Rating of this establishment is a full one star for long wait time, incompetent repair, long wait time x2, losing my contact info, maybe something fishy going on with RAM module, and stuffing $640 down the toilet. Jim G. and I realized his computer needed help: it wasn't charging, it wasn't recognizing the power cord, etc. After doing some searching online (on my Macbook, which has no problems, by the way), we conclude that the DC Power Jack needs replacing. Depending on where you read online, it's either an easy fix or so complicated that it's better to buy a new computer! Of course I search Yelp and find this place where someone recently had the same problem. I call, speak to Sam, and without seeing the problem, assures me that it's in the range of $100-150 to fix. I go by to drop it off and, since Sam isn't there I work with a woman whose name I didn't get, but she was nice and helpful. She tells me Sam will look at it, call me, and tell me the price. He calls a couple hours later. And, the computer is fixed the next day! Less than 24 hours later I'm picking it up =) Price is on point, computer is ready, Sam is very friendly, and I just so happened to find a Yelp Deal as I was checking in! I took my workstation in to diagnose if my motherboard or other components were faulty. They were very nice and said they could. When I picked it up they said the motherboard was bad, but rather than RMA my board again and wait a month for the outcome - especially at the risk they might have been wrong, I did my own testing. I thought I might know what the problem is, I suggested this to them, but they didn't do it the way it was suggested online. I did and turned out that I was right. They were nice and probably great at mobile or laptop hardware component replacement, but aren't adept at computer builds that require a lil extra love. I am an animator, not an IT guy, but was able to diagnose and fix my own problem. I went to them to avoid the hassle and time, but ended up having to do it myself. They are nice, but weren't the right guys for the job, even though they said it was something they could accomplish. DON'T GO HERE! CAVEAT EMPTOR! The owner cannot be trusted with a quote! I took my Lenovo pc here on May 15, 2012 for hard drive replacement. The quote was for $120. bill came to $255. 85! No communication. NO CALLS, NOTHING. After 4 days I called and the owner, Sam, said it was ready 2 days before, but why no call? When I went to the store I discovered they had broken the lid to open the computer. A simple 2 button release...Now I cannot open it. When I requested compensation for the broken lid Sam, (replacement cost $65.00) 'Sam' became belligerent, argumentative and insulting. Sam is not the tech and the tech was not working when I went in on Saturday noon. Sam is a front office sales clerk with the attitude of a used car hustler. I would have left "0" stars if available. Seemed like a good place I brought my computer hard drive here because I messed it up. I hate taking my computer stuff to Fry's electronics (long story) and the Geek squad were kinda clueless about what to do. They who assisted me explained to me the different things that could be wrong with my hard drive. I left it here so they can run a diagnostic to determine if my hard drive was recoverable (cost 30 bucks I think). I received a call from this place 1 week later. They told me that my drive is recoverable but it is gonna cost me about $800.00. I laughed for a sec then told him no thanks. Then when I hung up a tear dropped from my eye. $800! I was cursing all day about it. Now you probably wondering "why the 4 stars?". Well the geek squad didn't have a clue and wanted to charge me $600.00 just to figure it out, Fly's Electronics can suck my a*s, and this other place I checked out looked shady. ACS had good customer service, the person helping me gave me plenty of information and warned me about what it might cost and the process of restoring a hard drive that is sh*t. So all my drunken photos and files are trapped in my old hard drive with the bail set at $800. Sam is a gem. I have a number of MACs and PCs and things often go wrong that are beyond my scope of technical expertise. When that happens, Sam is my man. There is a welcoming, easy-going atmosphere in his shop. His prices are reasonable and he will work with you until the problem is solved. He's been in the business for 20 years. You have a nice feeling of confidence when discussing tech issues with him. The other technician Jolie is skilled and patient - two very necessary ingredients for that line of work! I was recently having several issues with my Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop that included a maddening sequence of beeps everytime I started up the computer along with failing memory issues and application hiccups. With no real acceptable alternatives in the Santa Clarita Valley to speak of (I refuse to go to The Geek Squad) I turned to my brother who lives in Woodland Hills for a recommendation and he turned me on to 'ACS Computer Repair' on Venture Blvd. I took my laptop in to Sam (the owner) and he diagnosed the issues quickly for a $35. fee (Geek Squad charges $70. to do this) and set me up with a new hard drive ($90.) and a new keyboard ($60.) along with a very reasonable $110. labor fee which covered the initial diagnosis as well as installation of all of the new hardware. Solid. I'll definitely be back if I ever need any other computer services or repairs. FYI - For all of you foodies I noticed there's a new 'Tara's Himalayan Cuisine' location opening just down the street on Ventura Blvd. so you can get your computer needs handled and get your grub on. read more

I recently acquired an old laptop from my mother in law that had a bad display, i took it to ICS, a terrible computer repair shop around the corner, and was told that the motherboard was fried and it would be too expensive to repair. I should just buy a new laptop. Since Jolie and ACS did such a fantastic job on my Macbook (Same day turn around. See my other review) I decided to let them have a look. Jolie booted it up, plugged it into a monitor and it worked fine. It just has a bad display and a corrupt hard drive. But here's where they really impressed me. They just happened to have an identical laptop on hand. Same model, same processor, same OS, same everything. So they're either going to swap parts or else just trade me for the working laptop. I just can't say enough good things about them without my review getting flagged because Yelp thinks I work for them or they're paying me to say nice things about them. They promised to call to tell the status of the repair of my lpatop and provide estimate but never did, I had to call every time myself by the end of the day, I did not like that. Also they told me that my iPhone was not repairable, I took it to Wireless Toyz con Ventura and White Oak and they fixed it right there in 15 minutes, just changed the LCD screen which was broken. I have a completely useless habit of tripping over my laptop's power cord, and of course, I eventually cracked the DC power jack (which I explained to Sam, the owner, as "the charging-hole thingie that the cord goes into"). I brought my laptop here after I realized my laptop wasn't charging anymore. Sam diagnosed my problem immediately and gave me a quote for the price to repair it. I was warned that it would take several days for the replacement part to come in, but Sam assured me that he'd fix it as soon as the part arrived. I dropped it off on Monday evening, and picked it up on Saturday afternoon. If you have a PC steer clear of this place. I had a broken screen, which is a simple issue to fix. Told me it was going to be 3 days and $85, I check back in less than a week later and he said he ordered the wrong part, so it would be around a week more. I asked how much because I already wasn't happy waiting, and he said $375. So I went to just pick the laptop up so someone else could fix it, and he returned it to me in a condition so poor that other places are weary to work with it (see photo for reference). Sam is a terrific and responsibly priced computer repairman (a dying breed!). My laptop fan was making a load, distracting noise. I took it to Sam and he told me what the range of problems could be. It was either going to be a simple and inexpensive fan replacement, or a more expensive chip issue. (It turned out to be the former.) His quote for the repair was $20 less than the previous estimate from another shop. but more importantly, he had the laptop back to me in 24 hours, which was half what his original estimate was. Sam was also very generous with his time. I asked him about some issues i was having with my iPod and an old iMac. Rather than try to sell me on his services, he suggested that I should get get a new iPod! The iMac issue will be something i will probably be working with him on in the future. Sam and his technicians are awesome. I got a nasty virus on Saturday and had tried my regular guy who wasn't working. Sam said: "bring it in!" so I did. He went to work, cleaned it up and I was back in business the next day for a very reasonable cost. I've used ACS's services twice now and been very happy both times. Sam and Anthony did a great job cleaning the gunk out of my PC's tower case and, a few months later, when my computer gave me the black screen of death, they were able to diagnose and fix the issue and keep the cost down to a reasonable rate. The reason I'm giving four stars, rather than five, is due to the time it took to resolve everything. Part of that was my fault, I admit; they cloned my data, replaced my failing hard drive and reloaded it in three days. Everything seemed fine, 'till I hooked it up to an external drive at home which, apparently, had a virus that zorched everything. Unfortunately, when I brought it back, it took another nine days to fix everything again. In the end, I got my computer back in perfect working condition and Sam and Anthony worked with me to make sure everything was in order. It just took considerably longer than I was expecting. However, I am satisfied overall and would definitely use their services again and recommend them to others. read more

I had a problem with my 3 way Printer/scanner/fax machine. I called the manufacturer who recommended ACS Computer Services, in my area, Tarzana. I called them and was told to bring in why device for evaluation. I was quoted a fee for just the service repair and another fee when they determined the problem and the cost to repair my printer. When they had to order the parts, they informed me when it would arrive. When Juan arrived at my house to set up my repaired printer, for an additional cost to come to my house, he notified me the repair cost would be much less, because they did not need to replace as many components as they thought. The. total cost for the repair and the house call, after deducting the unnecessary parts, was almost as much as my original estimate, without the house call. I complimented them on their honesty, integrity and dedication to customer service. I would recommend them highly for your future printer repairs. read more

DO NOT go here! Went to fix my iPhone 11 and ended up coming out with a more damaged screen. I called several times before coming in again to change it with the warranty they promised, and they would misinform me that they have the parts. After driving one hour 2 times to get there, they tell me I need to come back which is ridiculous. With my already damaged phone, it got even more damaged as time went on and now are charging me another $140 to fix it. read more

I had many great experiences with this company. They are very friendly & knowledgeable with computer, laptops, tablets as well as cell phone and gaming consol (I got my XBOX 360 repaired here). They helped me with my old desktop, which was full of virus, and they reformat the disc the drive and repair the RAM and restore my crashed WD external memory. Their Tec people also upgrade my old video and sound card and helped me through the phone when I had questions and concern regarding the software or Internet security installation. I got a non-working apple Ipone and I was skeptic whether or not bring it over to get that working. Amazingly, it was repaired even thou I did unlock and jailbreak the phone. I have used them in the past to replace damaged hard drives and keyboards, but lately had a nightmare of a situation with my work laptop, I went to use it, opened it and nothing but a black screen and a light on my computer, tried restarting it with the power button same thing, just a black screen stairing at me, seemed it wasn't booting up. called Sam since I now live a few blocks away, he said bring it by it was 6:30 pm, was amazed they were still open, they have extended hours which is amazing for all of us hard working long hours people. I stopped by he took a look at it tried to boot it, and said my hard drive was fine, but the motherboard was not getting power to the CMOS, that's why it wasn't booting, said he could fix it, told me how much and said 2 days, he put my hard drive in a portable so i could access files from another computer USB drive. called me the next day and said my computer was fixed and if i wanted to bring by the hard drive they would put it back in and id be all done, not 2 days later but ONE I picked up my computer, was working and I was extremely grateful if not shocked at the speed and professionalism brought by this store we sat and talked about a lot of aspects of the computer, back ups, do's and dont's and I learned I was doing a few of the dont's a few suggestions were given to me, and they made complete sense, Sam couldn't have been more informative, and helpful Thank you Sam. you are my Computer Hero read more

I work in IT, I was born and raised in Silicon Valley and I have standards set for good business. This business is not quite up to par and here's why. I had a small broken connector on my ribbon cable that connects the keyboard to the logic board. I called in and Sam answered, I asked him if the part is available and he said bring it in. The part is generally just $10-$15 dollars and they would charge a $75 dollar labor charge to install it. There was a misunderstanding apparently when I came into his shop. He gave me the cable but then tried to charge me $75 dollars for labor EVEN though they weren't installing it or even really touched my macbook. I had already disassembled my Macbook and did ALL the work for them to diagnose the Macbook and all that was needed was a cable which he was willing to sell me...with an automatiuc labor fee of $75. Any other shop would just sell you the part, get the money and move on with life making BOTH of our lives easier. Not so here...they WILL always try to charge you for labor even if they do not do ANY work. His reasoning is "we are a repair shop not retail so labor is always included". Poor business practice! He never even offered to lower the labor fee or anything...I would have paid $10 bucks as a convenience fee but nope...nothing and so I just walked out the door. I understand businesses can set their own rules but no other repair shops work this way in any industry. Cars, computers, etc, you can go to the repair shop to buy just parts without paying labor. Avoid this place, find a place that puts the customers needs first. Just sell the cable, make your money there rather than making nothing at all when a customer walks out the door because it's pretty messed up to automatically charge $75 dollars additional for work that they aren't even doing! FInd a local repair shop that works their hardest to get your things repaired rather than charging labor fees. When I was an IT specialist in the Bay Area, I'd just try to get you up and running without extra cost. Efficiency over gouging! read more
