If you're in the main building, unfortunately you may hear a lot of street noise. I was in the second building. I have a few things to note. First, you have to use your room card to open the door each time you go from the main building to the second one. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the security but sometimes I would forget to have my key out so I would start digging in my purse. Second, would have loved a vending machine in the second building. Third, there isn't a restaurant which is not a big deal for most because you're in the heart of New Orleans. Overall, loved my stay! We came in a few days early and found this hotel to be very convenient. This is a nice hotel with a wonderful team of people. We had a bit of an issue with an outside agency and our reservation but after a short time the staff was able to fix it to our expectations. It was a good size room with a wonderful view of the Ohio River. Plenty of drawer and closet space and the desk area made it easy to do some computer work. TV had plenty of choices (It was good to be back in an American Hotel with American TV.) Nice spacious bathroom with a tub shower. I prefer the walk-ins for both myself and my wife, but it was easy to work through this. Plenty of dining options here but we choice to go out in the morning for breakfast and find some fun plaqces for dinner (There are seperate reviews and pictures for that.) I liked their bar and the happy hour specials. Great baked oysters which paired beautifully with beer. All in all a great spot and I happlily reccomend this spot. The building itself is situated in an area that's relatively close to everything and would be a short drive- Uber ride away. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly front desk staff. We were then passed over to another pair that wanted to help us with our trips itinerary. They were overly friendly and wanted to be really helpful. We had things to do so we went up to our room and that's when the phone calls started. They were very aggressive and I did not put two and two together until I remembered this was a Wyndham hotel *cue ominous music*. It's a Wyndham. You're gonna get offered all kinds of free stuff and discounts but you have to attend a "presentation" in order to get them. In Wyndham speak that means timeshare presentation. If you don't know, they basically kidnap you and force you to buy a timeshare for 20 plus thousand dollars (I'm exaggerating but the sales pitch is extremely high pressure and if you say no, they will turn on you and act like you're stealing food out of their kid's mouths.) If you possess the power of the word "NO" and hold your ground then you'll be just fine. However, if you are not and you are swayed or can be swayed avoid them like the plague. They come off as friendly, charming, and helpful, but the second you say "no"?, like I said earlier, they are going to turn on you. You have been warned.

The hotel was a great base for exploring New Orleans, especially with the French Quarter nearby, and overall I was very happy with the stay. My biggest complaint, though, was the bathroom. It was WAY too small! Considering how large and spacious the rest of the room was, I was genuinely surprised by just how cramped the bathroom felt. There was very little room to move around comfortably, and it was easily the weakest part of the room. Aside from the tiny bathroom, though, I had a great experience. The room was comfortable and spacious, the location was convenient, and I would definitely consider staying here again. A very solid four stars. Give that bathroom a little more breathing room and this could easily have been five!

It's also very close to the jazz bars on Frenchmen Street, so if you're over the Bourbon St. scene, it's in a great location. Also very close to Jackson Sq. and the French Market. Walkable to anywhere in the quarter. Whenever we received turndown service, everything looked so nice. The room was very clean, spacious, the bed was comfortable and I think it was a good value. Everyone we spoke to at the front desk was also very kind and helpful. The pool is also a huge plus! I would definitely stay at Le Richelieu again and recommend it to anyone traveling to New Orleans.

(see pics & videos included w/ this review) In celebration of our 21st wedding anniversary (yep, love was in the air!) my hubby & I, stayed at LRH (Thurs., 09/26/2024 - Sun., 09/29/2024) & while, not our 1st time visiting NOLA, it definitely was our FAVORITE visit in NOLA. Here is why I'm giving Le Richelieu Hotel a well deserved five-star review: 1.) Location: LRH is located in a quiet area that is conveniently located w/in walking distance to the French Market (few blocks away), Cafe Du Monde (9 mins away), Frenchmen St., Frenchmen St. corridor (5 mins away), & many other NOLA gems. We enjoyed walking to Cafe Du Monde for the oh so, delicious beignets, sightseeing around Frenchmen St. (browse at Louisiana Music Factory & Cafe Negril for live music). We even walked to the Harley Davidson Store located on Bourbon St. , which was a little bit farther away but still very doable by foot. 2.) Room Amenities: Even though this hotel is historic (building built in 1845) the hotel & rooms have been renovated so it does feel both charming & updated. We stayed in room 301, 3rd floor (no balcony). Room was very spacious & clean (see pics & videos). Room did have a mini fridge, safe, iron, & iron board. No issues w/ hot water pressure in shower. A/C worked great. Housekeeping came daily to make up bed, take trash out, & give fresh towels. 3.) Noise: Feedback on poor soundproofing between guest rooms, as mentioned by previous reviews - we did briefly experience this but I came prepared & brought my mini JBL portable speaker just in case it was needed to help drown out noise from neighbors by playing brown noise or music. Glad to report that I only had to use it one time :). 4.) Parking: LRH does have its own private parking area that is gated & kept locked. Upon check-in you will be given a key fob to open parking gate as needed. The fob also unlocks the front door of the hotel (kept locked 7pm-7am). FYI, there is a call button located outside the gate that calls to the front desk, if needed. 5.) Outdoor Pool Onsite: The pool area at night is so magical! (see videos) Helpful Tidbits: 1.) Many of the surrounding food spots close by 10pm. 2.) Balcony Info: If you chose a room w/out access to the balcony no worries, because there a single private balcony that can be used by all guests, located on the 3rd floor. It has a small table & 2 chairs. You will need to unlock the lock at the top to open the double doors. I also wanted to share that many of the rooms on the 3rd floor w/ doors in room that open up to the SHARED balcony. (See video) Okay, if you've read this far..kudos to you! :)) You're in for a treat because the last piece of info that I wanted to share about our stay at Le Richelieu is an unexplainable experience for sure & dare I say...possibly paranormal?! So at 6am on the morning we were to check out, my hubby woke me up by pulling back the white duvet & sheets that I was sleeping under & when he did, we saw that there was bright red blood soaked on the bottom sheet near my lower legs (my legs not touching it) that had NOT been there when we went to sleep. This was not my blood. I had no blood on me or on any of the clothes I had worn the night before. Blood was not my hubby's. We have no idea how this blood got there. The blood had soaked down through the mattress topper and the mattress itself however, there was no blood on the top sheet. There also were a few blood droplets on the floor leading to the bed. For sure this wasn't old stained blood because it was bright red in color. My hubby actually wiped up the blood on the floor & then tried to clean the blood off the bedding & mattress (some of it came out but only a little bit). He didn't want us to lose our deposit. I was basically sleep walking (& a lil bit hungover) at that point while trying to gather my stuff so we could then check out & I just wasn't alert enough to take a picture of the blood (I know! I'm still kicking myself for that!!). Had I been fully awake :), I would have taken pics & videos for proof & would have told my hubby to not worry about cleaning it up because we didn't cause it. While this experience was definitely weird, it was not scary at all. I didn't say anything to the front desk staff when I returned the fob but I did send a message through the booking app. To sum it up, my hubby and I, TRULY ENJOYED our stay at Le Richelieu Hotel & will be returning guests the next time in NOLA. My husband and l enjoyed having freshly brewed (strong) coffee available every morning right downstairs. However, we were there for three days, and other than one late afternoon, we were never able to have a hot (or even warm) shower. Even after bringing it up to the manager, nothing was changed. It seemed once housekeeping arrived, and started laundry, little hot water was left for the guests. Maybe we just had a bad room, but it made for a very uncomfortable trip considering NOLA was also experiencing record cold temps in the 30-40°F.

Rumored to be the original House of the Rising Sun, the hotel is haunted by spirits from the days when it operated as a bordello. This Creole Townhouse is adorned with Greek Revival accents and features 25 guest rooms. (Jimmy Buffet frequently stayed in room 305.) The walls are thin, the amenities aren't top notch, but the antique furniture adds to the charm. There's a small bar behind the front desk with snacks, soft drinks, & wine for purchase. During my visits, the staff were always friendly and welcoming. When I stayed here, they served a complimentary continental breakfast with croissants from Croissant D'Or, which is across the street. The croissants were so bomb; I had to ask where they came from. They told me they were from the café across the street. Now, I make it a point to walk to the café to get some when I'm in town and bring them home. They taste as good as the first time I had them during my stay at Villa Convento.
