3 Reasons to love this New Orleans hotel:…read more 1) Simple and Modern: I really liked this hotel: its an old converted building "AC-fied" to Marriott's standards: modern, super simple, small gathering areas. I like the wood floors to ceiling windows and love the modern room looking out onto the vintage buildings on the street and the St Charles cable car stopping a few yards away. 2) Small hotel: I prefer smaller hotels than the mega Sheratons, Westins and Marriotts that graze many big cities in my hotel universe. This time I got to select a larger room was able to get an upgrade to a corner room. 3). Inexpensive. I hate spending money on hotel rooms so this modern simple hotel fits the bill for me. I request complimentary upgrades and if that's not available I pay extra for a better room-- way better than paying $400-$500 a night for New orleans hotels. There are some cheap hotels too but you wouldn't wanna stay there. I'd rather spend $$ on dining in one of America's best dining cities. Tip: Since this is an old building ask for street view rooms. Once I was assigned a room in view of a taller hotel across the alley. It was during a peak weekend so I learned my lesson. Go the gym to refill your water container to minimize plastic use. This hotel has filtered water on each floor next to ice maker and microwave. Complimentary washing machines/dryers. Buy your own detergent at reception or CVS. End of Yelp.

In early May 2025 I booked my stay for the early days of Mardi Gras 2026. The pre-paid rates were…read morecheaper but had restrictions I did not want to accept so I readily booked the standard full rate. All was good until mid-January when I noticed a charge for a bit more than the full rate (with NO advance notice), so I called Marriott Corp to investigate and request a refund without cancellation. They opened a case for me. I did receive a reply from Taylor Cox (FD Supervisor) advising that the terms I'd agreed to had been changed rather last-minute. Pre-paid rates have a different cancellation policy so I immediately responded to Mr Cox asking for clarification but never received any reply whatsoever. The BonVoy app allows loyalty customer the opportunity to request an earlier check-in (which aren't guaranteed) but I did make that request. I sat in the lobby for the duration in case I received the message (either text or app) of my room being ready. Nothing was received so after the 4:00 time had passed I approached the front desk to inquire if my room was now available. I mentioned that I'd been disappointed in the earlier process and communication, and it turned out it was actually Mr Cox assisting me. There was a scripted "Sorry for the inconvenience" as well as "We just now sent out that batch of texts about the rooms". I inquired if a noon check-out, rather than 11:00, would be possible and was given an immediate 'No' to that extra hour. I was issued a key and told to take the elevator to the eighth floor, so I went into the nearby elevator and found that it didn't include a Floor 8, so I returned to the desk. "Oh, sorry, that's a different elevator down the hall". I noticed that two of front desk team members were putting wrist bands on arriving guests. I wasn't offered a band earlier, so I had to assume it was for something extra that I wasn't included. My room category was Larger Guest Room City View. I fully understand that online photos on the Marriott website do not perfectly match reality, but the assigned room was nothing similar whatsoever. One window about two feet wide staring at a hotel wall. I wasn't going to be in the room much, so I just accepted it. It was immediately realized that the doors did little to buffer hallway noises. I'd have to accept that too. While transiting to the parade route, I sent a brief e-mail to Mr Cox to advise what I'd seen and requested a reply if I'd need a wrist band for my return later that evening, and to please advise security of the oversight. Yet again, zero response. Upon return it was realized that a band was indeed required to access this hotel. If you lose one there is an additional charge, but I'd not even been issued one to lose. A wrist band was issued to me. Noise on the floor was significant (especially from the neighboring room) but I was tired and did get some good sleep, albeit interrupted. I checked out around 9:30, since I had breakfast reservations and wouldn't be able to return before the required check-out time. There was no inquiry about the stay or a Thanks from the front desk. Hospitality businesses choose their level of service, and I choose my level of honest online reviews. That's how it works. I did not enjoy my stay at this AC. I would not consider returning to this AC. I cannot recommend this AC to others. There seems to be a pattern of online opinions, so I know I'm not alone on this one. Oh, and Trevor . . . I never received that message about the room being ready and never received any reply for ANY e-mail sent to you. Marriott guests deserve better in my opinion.

I paid for the round trip which was less expensive than an Uber or Lyft would have been each way, and my return flight information they told me when I'd be picked up to go back. If you are staying downtown New Orleans, it is a very convenient airport shuttle, with a simple scheduling process at the 'Downtown Hotel Shuttle' area of MSY Airport. The price of shuttle service is much cheaper than catching a Lyft to-and-from the airport. I paid no more than $24 for a shuttle ride to my hotel located in downtown New Orleans, Central Business District. I adored the driver, Harry, who was very kind and informative beforehand, but this process is just not fair for those who have had a long flight and just want to get in and relax, or those who just want to explore New Orleans as soon as possible. On what appeared to be a slow day I ended up being the only rider, after I waited on the shuttle for an hour for seats to be filled. With New Orleans being one of the more touristy places, it still baffles me that this shuttle could not get more riders other than I within an hour. If you have no time restraints and staying within or nearby downtown New Orleans, then look no further than Airport Shuttle New Orleans. However, if you do have time restraints, I recommend not utilizing it because there is no consistency with the number of pick-ups from the airport, so you may have a wait. Anyway, safe travels, and blessings to all that read this review. Thomas G

As an ambassador, I was disappointed to be placed in an interior room with a window looking directly into another window and concrete walls, but overall this was a good value and a great location. Located in the French Quarter and close to Canal Street and the street car, a little over a mile from Marigny/Bywater. The king suite was large, spacious, and clean. Bathroom with a tub. Bed was a little hard for my taste, but again clean and crisp linens. Equipped with a refrigerator to house booze or leftovers. Hallways can get a little loud with drunk people and slamming doors, but I imagine that's many places in NOLA. Secure. I didn't note any free breakfast (who wants hotel breakfasts in New Orleans anyway?), but there is a Starbucks in the lobby with plenty of seating. Front desk staff were alway kind and accommodating and did acknowledge my ambassador status (not that I care about that, but I know it's one of their metrics). Well stocked pantry with lots of drinks (gotta stay hydrated in New Orleans) and snacks and basic necessities. I got the ambassador 4 PM checkout without issue.

The room was cleaned quickly and thoroughly daily. The location is great, walking distance from anywhere in the French Quarter but tucked along a quiet street. The front desk staff were incredibly kind and gracious the whole time. One night I had a big fall on Bourbon Street (I'm sure they happens quite a bit) that I didn't realize cut me pretty deep until I was back at the hotel. I called the front desk at 1am to see if they had bandaids/first aid equipment and they brought up some bandaids and alcohol wipes within a few minutes. That was a nice gesture and so convenient, I was prepared to change again to run to a CVS nearby but they saved me that trip. We would for sure book this hotel again for a future trip to New Orleans.
