The Construction Guyz are fabulous! We had a slump stone wall with rotted redwood between the columns and needed a column repaired, the redwood replaced with slump stone and a course added. We had two "contractors" bid the job and then flake out and not show up. When we called The Construction Guyz, Jay actually came to the house discussed what we wanted to do and said he would send us a quote and that it was a good time as he was between jobs. He sent a very reasonable quote the next day, a Thursday and started the job the following Monday. The materials were delivered Monday morning and we met Jay's crew Geraldo and Trini who went right to work. These guys are master masons, Geraldo leveled each block and measured the spacing. The half blocks were all sawn not broken with a hammer. Geraldo said he worked with Jay for 17 years and I can see why. They are proud of their work and go about it without music blaring, offensive language or griping and left my yard neat and clean every day. Jay and the Construction Guyz did a fantastic job building a redwood fence with a double lattice. It's really a beautiful fence and is more than I had hoped for. The detail is quite nice. There are a variety of different colors used and not only in the redwood itself. If you look at the picture you can see that the whole fence is framed with a dark wood, and the lattice is double framed. I didn't want a vinyl fence. I wanted a more traditional fence but with some style, and this one has it. We actually asked Jay to build approximately 65 feet of fence and that was going to include three gates. They had a crew of three guys who were very polite and totally professional workers. These guys worked steadily every day for four days. That's a lot of hours but apparently that's what it takes to do a quality job. Another thing they did was dig out all of the dead bamboo roots where the old fence was. I didn't even realize what they were doing until I noticed that our giant green trash bin was overloaded with dead bamboo roots. I had no idea that these roots were even there. But the bamboo had been growing there for literally 65 years. They didn't ask for more money for the extra work. In fact, they never even mentioned that's what they were doing. Jay is also very prompt in responding to you. That's a big plus. I've been working with contractors to remodel this house for a year and half now and I can tell you they don't all do that. Construction Guyz transformed an unused space on the front side of our house into a practical storage and work area. We had an existing cinder block wall extended and a new vinyl gate constructed to create the new area. We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Jay was very detailed and precise when he came to do the estimate, and he was communicative throughout the entire process. The guys on site varied based on skillset and what was going on that day. They all did great work and cleaned up at the end of each day. I consider myself fairly picky, and I never had to follow up or complain about anything throughout the process. There was an unexpected hiccup on the gate hardware, and Jay spent extra time and effort to think of a creative solution for a fraction of the potential cost. Jay is very cost conscious and did not push anything that we didn't need or want. His only suggestion at our first meeting was adding drainage, which is something we had not considered. We appreciated the suggestion and expect no problems during the next rainy season thanks to the addition of drains. Jay and the crew were also diligent about protecting the old concrete that we wanted to preserve and no damage was done to any of the original surfaces that we kept. After hiring The Construction Guyz in 2023 for wooden gate repairs (an outstanding job was done then), now the rest of the 50 foot wooden fence (installed in 1990) now has extensive termite and rot damage and needed to be repaired or replaced. After inspection by the owner (Jay), the decision was made to replace the existing fence with a new vinyl fence. As before, his crew arrived on time and did outstanding work removing and disposing of the old fence and installing the new fence. The new vinyl fence looks great and will last much longer than the old fence. I would not hesitate to call them again for any job in their areas of expertise. Very Good Work But Not 100% Honest Jay was very good to provide a comprehensive quote and when I approved the work he got it done when he said it would get done. The work quality was great and he picked up all of the mess. I was 100% satisfied except the placement of the gate latch. I asked him to move it to the interior of the gate so it would not be exposed to the traffic on the sidewalk and he said he did it. I believed him but he did not move the latch.
