I have had two bad experiences with the Night Manager Aelisa & recently Nigel. I went to return two Jars 2x's that were not returned back for requested Store Credit. However, in-between sessions a telephone call was made to the Cotporate Office in Coppell, Texas where after speaking with two persons there, it was determined that these two Containers fit the criteria for a Return & one was acknowledged for Store Credit, the other one was not identified at that time as "defective" but later was brought up with the same criteria as before & should had been accepted as a Return. This was denied again. These Staff are not reasonable to deal with. read more

High gas/food prices and a recession? Show the Man who's boss and spend your hard earned cash on organizational products because as the saying goes, "Just b/c you're broke doesn't mean your house should look like you are." Well, that's not really a saying that people say; I'm just saying. Merchandise - They have things here that you never knew existed but you won't be able to live without. Wrapping paper, shelving, cable turtles, jars for olive oil/salad dressing, coat hangers, desks/tables, chairs, iSlice (http://www.islice.com/), and cosmetic organizers are just some of the products you'll find here. Personally, I adore my envelopener ($4.99) and haven't had to use my finger to open my mail since, and I use their Elfa storage products. The merchandise is really pricey and sales on most products are infrequent. They do have a sale for 50% off ALL Elfa products, typically in the Spring, and their Post-Christmas wrapping paper sale is amazing! Service - I like shopping here b/c of the service. For example, my envelopener broke recently so I took it back to the store and the cashier just swapped it out for a new one. No paperwork, nothing. I had several friends who worked there before and they are trained and empowered to make customers happy -- and they better w/ those markups. Whether it be greeting you with a smile or walking all your merchandise out to the car for you, the fact they are always near the top of Fortune 100's Best Companies to Work For shows. Their return policy reminds me of Nordstrom's policy from back in the day as I've seen people bring stuff back that they clearly broke or was seriously old. For us more reasonable shoppers, the policy helps you overpay for merchandise with confidence. In the end though, this is simply a place where you buy new junk to help you store or contain your old junk. If the prices were more reasonable, I'd say it's a 5-star shopping experience. So grab yourself a Robeks smoothie and peruse the aisles and you may just find yourself saying, "Who knew they made something like this?! I MUST HAVE IT!" read more

Beware that prices in store are up to 5 dollars higher per item then their own website. I did not notice this until I had left. I ended up paying 50 dollars more then the website. The cashier did refund me the difference when I went back to ask and informed me to always price match the website! This was my first visit to this location and all I can say is...POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE..!! I was in the area yesterday and decided to drop by. BIG mistake! Hard to find an employee to ask questions, when I did it felt like they couldn't be bothered. Check out was quick but the shopping experience overall was terrible. If you want top notch service in true CS fashion, shop at the Tyson's Corner location. They actually want to help the customer. Next time I'm in Rockville, I won't bother wasting my time in a store where it's clear that their employees don't want to give what they're paid for... CUSTOMER SERVICE..!! Terribly understaffed. On a Monday morning, no one is found to help with unstocked merchandise. Their proprietary Elfa shelving is never in its place. No one is available in the shelving department to retrieve any from the back. The employee I stop to ask for help seems perturbed that I should ask her. She said it would take her 5 to 10 minutes to retrieve the 4 wire shelves. It took 15. And not with a smile. Kind of a lame experience. read more

I placed an order for a shelf on Thursday for a Saturday pick-up. The item was listed 'in-stock' online, and the item was paid for beforehand. I received a call on Saturday at the time I was scheduled to pick it up, only to have the employee tell me that it was NOT in-stock. Way to drop the ball, guys. Why wasn't I notified earlier, and why did they wait until the exact time I was supposed to pick it up? I will NEVER shop here. Try another Container Store with more competent staff. I ordered containers. After ordering them I realized they were a lot cheaper on Amazon. I tried to cancel my order upwards of 10 times. Between emailing them, calling them and being hung up on, calling and being told I'll receive a call back but never getting one, and never being able to get through. Of course my order arrives. If I want to ship it back I have to pay for shipping. I bring it in person to return. It is too heavy for me to carry and instead of helping they give me a shopping cart to balance it on. Then instead of the designated return line I'm told to wait in the normal line. I waited for 40 minutes to finally return the order that I tried to cancel so many times. read more

The outside of the store leads you to think it's bigger than it actually is. Still, there's a satisfying array of storage and organization "accessories" that you'll end up coveting. True, you can find most of these same/similar items elsewhere for cheaper, but they have stuff that I never even knew where I could get and every related thing here is conveniently placed in the same aisle. You come in wondering how you're going to organize something but leave inspired with options you never even thought existed! Customer Service here is lacking. After paying for all my expensive new storage, the cashier carelessly dropped (not packed or placed) my stuff into the shopping bag. I flinched at every loud thud and clank. She seemed completely oblivious of it and me, even when I repeatedly told her that I didn't need the rest packed (after seeing her bag the first couple things and forcefully shove some stuff into one another!), she just kept on grabbing the stuff and throwing them against each other into the bag. For the supposedly decent wage they're getting, it sure doesn't seem to effect a higher or more considerate level of service. I like the brand and the store, just not this particular one's employees or at least their lack of training. read more

This is truly a horrible place- shockingly mismanaged. I ordered many items online while store was closed and had a few to return - I've been there four times to return the same items - the lines inside the store are so long every time I went there. I would leave and then come on another day at a different time - did t matter what time, what day, weekday, weekend- same line and it doesn't matter how many people are in line, usually one cashier. So today after stopping by twice and seeing same length of line I just said, I'm going to have to suck it up and hope that my mask will protect me fir the 45 minutes - 1 hour I'm in line with the other people inline and who knows how many in store. So I waited - at least for first 30 minutes one cashier, there were two other employees in center section but not with open registers, so we wait, line grows, more people come in store, we wait - you get the picture, finally when line goes to the entire back of the store, someone opens up second register, my turn finally arrives and I hear a woman at the other register describing her experience- she had been there 2.5 hours, arriving at 10:30 when she received notification that her curbside order was ready - she waited in her car for 1.5 hours for her order, when she received it, she immediately inspected it and it was broken so she had to come in store and wait an hour to return. Pre pandemic I did pick up order and experienced similar bad experience- in fact after waiting a long time for my pick up order, I ended up getting in line and purchasing product in store and never received my pick up order of sane items and when I called to tell them to cancel and refund they said they couldn't I had to come back and wait for item and then get in line to return. Very unaccommodating for pickup orders - I needed to pick something up early and the rep made a huge stink about it. Another time I needed to add an order to my existing pickup and they would not let me. It's not easy to return to the store next day or just come back a few hours later when you have multiple kids and are 37 weeks pregnant. I'll stick to ordering from Target from now on. read more

The have great stuff over here. (household stuff you needed at home), etc. Got me a Handigrip Grocery bags handles. Use it carry it bags of food as much as possible so you don't have to turn back around 3 times or more to carry back home or in car. The staff are nice and friendly. There's nothing much for me to say! This is always a good place to come at get kitchen stuffs and storage stuffs, a little expensive but I still think it's good Cuz their quality is worth a price you paid for! It's expensive (hence, I took away a star) but it's the easiest way to get inspired about organizing. My experience is the same as the other reviewers: organizational items you never knew existed, great selection of wrapping/box, and friendly service. I always go back for the same reasons as everyone else but the prices keep my visits as short and focused as possible. Dog owners rejoice: there are trash cans that are just about bear-proof. I've been coming to this store on and off for the past 2 years, whenever my family needed to furnish a room, etc. -- so we would drop $3 figures -- a significant amount in one trip, even though we could get comparable items for less online, because of the convenience factor, having all we needed in one store. But recently I had the worst experience here -- exactly the kind of experience that makes you never want to shop physical retail again. I came in to return a small tkt item -- under $5 -- and to pick up a few containers for the kitchen. The cashier (blond woman perhaps in her 50/60's) was sssssoooo rude. It was an unusual item that you would not normally find at any other store, *and* the exact same item was hanging in the knick-knack rack display in front of the cashiers. Yet she proceeded to give me a ton of grief about returning this small item and said, "Harumph, we don't even carry this item." I proceeded to show her where the item was hanging -- about 4 feet from her. So she grudgingly gave me credit for it. If this wasn't bad enough, I struck up a conversation with another customer, who had her dog with her, while we were waiting in line to check out after I had finished my shopping and I told the customer that I had X breed dog. Then the same rude cashier who had handled my return, who was at the *other* cash register from the one I was at (precisely because I wanted to avoid her) turned around and said to the customer that I was speaking to: "Oh those dogs are the most vicious animals, you need to avoid them!" about my breed of dog.... While I don't expect to receive the best customer service at any given retail experience, I certainly don't expect to be attacked and insulted by a store staffer (who didn't even know her own inventory). Never again to this store, and quite frankly, never again to the Container Store after this experience. The dog food storage bin that I bought at the CS coincidentally went on sale online a week after I bought it at the container store -- but for $20 less. read more

The products are great and the authors are great. And if you really want to get organized this is where you should come take a look around first. But do beware, the lines are always long as this is not my first time standing in line for almost 20 minutes. There's never more than two people working the register at a time. I have no idea what takes so long to pay for one or two acrylic shoe boxes, but yet, somehow it takes forever to finish with a single transaction THUS making the line long and making those who are standing here wait for forever..... yep, still standing here still standing in line..... no, it doesn't take long to write a review but it does take a while to make sure spelling is accurate and punctuation is as it should be. And, I decided to start writing this after I had already been sitting here for 15 minutes. And, I'm still standing here..... there's just no sense of urgency. This is the place to go if you have "organize" in mind. Although it is not the most economical, they do sell better than average products and everything you could ever need to "contain" just about anything, is all found in one convenient place. The staff is friendly and very helpful and knowledgeable. They have a great return policy and the place is always clean. The items are all very nicely organized. read more

Wrapping paper so cute you'll want to squeeze its cheeks! The Container Store makes my OCD feel very much at home. I look at all the ways I can organize, put things into piles and shove them into boxes. The store isn't just about organization methods; it's about color coordination too! All the options available make me want to redo my office in mint green with polka dots and stripes just because I can. Container Store has the matching file folders, storage boxes and trash cans. Want some matching magnets too? They've got 'em. Too cute! They also have animal trashcans: piggies and froggies and ducks, oh my! My favorite discovery to date with this store is most definitely their awesome gift wrap section. Have you seen really cute gift wrap in magazines on TV when people get gifts and wonder, "where did they get that?" The Container Store - that's where they got it. You don't have to believe me, but when you go in and see it, you'll think, "Ang was so right. This is the most awesome gift wrap I have ever seen. I should never have doubted her!" You'll be amazed and in the mood to start spending money on others for no reason. If you're about to go on a trip, they also have all the necessary travel bottles and pouches that you could ever think of; and stuff for your supplements and medication too. I rarely come here with a list. I just like to browse the store and let ideas jump out at me. Next time you think Container Store, you should remember that it's a lot more than just containers...it's tools and organization for life. Watch the cashier during your transaction. My wife gave the cashier $52.20 for a $22.20 bill and the cashier gave us $28 back. After informing her of the mistake she denied it and said that we were wrong. Not in the mood to argue over $2 today. So yeah we left without the right amount of change. Next time I'll consider using a credit card so I don't feel slighted....shame on me for thinking customer service still exists. read more

My home is full of products I've purchased at Container Stores across the US since 1997. I love the PRODUCTS they offer and I have spent thousands of dollars at the CS. Having lived for many years on the West Coast and more recently on the East Coast, I have NEVER encountered such a bad example of customer service as I did today at the Container Store in Rockville (at register 7, with a cashier who was called to duty to relieve a long line which was quickly forming). Maybe the CS is "resting on their laurels" and feels that it doesn't matter if they employ rude employees who do not value customers.... but at this point I am looking forward to finishing my business in this area and returning to the Western US where, hopefully, the Container Store still rules as the best place to get organized. This Container Store is fortunate that I did not pursue a lawsuit after being accused of a crime that I did not commit by an employee who took out her anger at being called to "do her job" when I was returning seven of the same exact product in two huge Container Store bags, one of which was ripped along ONE edge, prompting her accusation that I was returning "old merchandise" (when in fact my receipt showed the items were purchased within the last 30 days). Unfortunately one of the bags had tipped slightly in the back of my vehicle, causing the large PAPER bag to rip along ONE EDGE only and not harming in any way the products I was returning). Luckily, after spending over $30K at the CS, I don't need any more of their products to maintain both of my TWO super organized homes..... because returning to THIS store would be equivalent to walking through hell. While still in this area I will patronize the store in Bethesda instead. Ironically, I have noticed after reading the good reviews this store receives, the high reviews rave about the PRODUCTS, but nothing good about the employees. read more

This store is very awesome. I came here specifically in search of heavy duty containers that I had previously only been able to find on Amazon. The Container Store had the brand I was looking for, plus a plethora of other variations by the same brand (IRIS). I ended up buying four large containers and upon arriving home, I realized I had forgotten to grab tops for a couple of the containers. The next day, I returned and explained what happened and the staff there was very helpful and didn't give me a hard time about picking up the missing tops. Overall, great experience, abundant supply of containers of all shapes and sizes, and great customer service. I live in Baltimore, but have already made this my go-to location for any storage needs! read more

Hm. Yep, hm. First off, it is nice seeing a store that specializes in something. They had some really interesting stuff that I never would have found. A coat rack that folds (almost) flat against the wall. Customizable drawer dividers. A tie hanger. (ok, I probably could have found that myself). But perhaps because of that specialization, or perhaps because this place strives to be chic the prices are high. If you have money to burn, they will even custom design shelving for you. read more

This is one of my favorite store just not my favorite locations. I came here on a Friday afternoon to some more racks for my Elfa shelving system for my pantry. The store was so crowding. So I had never ventured into the storage and organization mecca that is the Container Store until today, but I recently moved and realized I am a) extremely disorganized and b) somewhat of a hair/beauty product hoarder and c) I needed help. I had perused TCS's website a little before coming in, but it was far more daunting going into the actual store. However, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. India was the associate who helped me today, and she was very knowledgeable and helped me narrow down what I needed to help me focus (I do have a tendency to want to accomplish too much at once). Today's trip resulted in a few storage solutions for my master bathroom and closet, but I am sure there will be many more trips to come for the rest of my house. read more

Whenever I start to feel a bit disorganized, I go shopping at this store. My last purchase in June 2015 was for the 3-drawer chest (Item 10052710). I bought several of these units. I use these to sort items I buy on sale (such as light bulbs, toiletries, pet supplies, computer/printer supplies, etc.). When miscellaneous goods are on sale, I buy in quantities; now, I have a place to store those items. I love this store! read more

Went over to get a replacement lid for an Anchor glass container. They don't sell replacement lids, per se, but talk about service - the salesperson gave me a replacement lid for my container, right off of an identical item on the shelf, for free. It doesn't get any better than that. read more

Great products, but very poor customer service. The employees appeared to not want to be bothered by providing answers to questions or concerns. The employee at the register looked stressed when the customer she was waiting on ran back a couple of times to exchange some products that she decided she didn't want to purchase. As I waited in line, the employee called for assistance, however no one came. When she had to pick something up near where I was waiting in line, she wouldn't even make eye contact or mention "I'll be right with you." Nothing. Apparently this store's employees are not trained in the value of customer service. The Virginia stores are much more accommodating. read more

Didn't even much, but i'm definitely going back. The service was very very helpful. Things are a little expensive, but you pay for quality. They have pretty much anything you need container wise. I'm even going to go back to get some luggage which was a surprise that they even had that. Take my word for it.
