Not good. Not good at all! If you are going to go to The Cookie Jar, go for the cute cookie jars only. They do not know how to make cookies. They are either hard, stale, excessively buttery, or all of the above. I just spent a little over $13 on a variety of cookies, just to take a bite out of them and toss them in the trash. It's a shame, because they looked so delicious. Sadly, the only time I will be going back is if I want to buy an actually decorative cookie jar that I cannot find elsewhere. The cookies lacked flavor and many of them needed more sugar and way less butter. OMG. HOLY BATMAN, COOKIE JAR!! Where thouest been my whole life?!!! Okay, so months ago (or like a month and a half ago) I came up with an idea for a "let's play hookie from work, burn a vacation day in December that we're probably going to lose anyway and do a borough crawl" while trekking to Long Island with Ingrid S. for an amazing German themed Yelp Elite event (shout out to Jando!). Zaneta got a cherry chocolate chip cookie, it was also delicious and I was glad that my bite didn't contain an actual cherry. I don't mind actual cherries on their own actually - but I get weird about fruits in baked goods or mixed with chocolate. Meh. I got a "slurry brownie bite". This might be the most amazing .90¢ cent item I've ever purchased. Up until this point it had never even HEARD of a "slutty brownie". It was so chewy, decadent, rich and complex that I decided to, at the work next day, GOOGLE "slutty brownie" so that I could find the recipe... It was then that I realized WHY this was the most amazing brownie I've ever feasted on. It's pretty much made up of my favorite non-savory food groups. A layer of cookie dough, oreos and brownie batter makes for the most decadent slutty freakin' brownie!!! I think this place is a little overhyped. When I came in, I was amazed by the assortment of cookies and pastries, but also all the beautiful cookie jars on the wall. It was such a cute place. I was a little overwhelmed about what to try, but with $10 a pound on everything (even cupcakes), it didn't really matter. The price is so reasonable. I tried the red velvet cupcake, hazelnut star cookie, almond cookie, butter ring cookie, and oatmeal cookie. The only one I really liked was the oatmeal cookie. Even though it was a little hard, it was very tasty and I went on to eat three in one sitting. The other cookies were bland and had too much flour or powder dusted on top. I did not taste much flavor from each of the other cookies. The red velvet cupcake was good, but nothing spectacular. I was really hoping that this place would knock my socks off, but it didn't. Omg cookies among cookies among cookies. This bakery is amazing!! They have every cookie you can imagine cookies of your childhood cookies thats you never heard of and they are all delicious. I love the set up of the store when walking in to the right is a wall of cute cookie jars to left is all cases of cookies and in front is a birds eye view of where they make the cookies. They are all by the pound and for the price you can get a lot. I have to say this is the best store of the cake chef franchise good work!! One bad thing parking is super difficult.. read more

I absolutely love this bakery. The coffee is perfect and the cookies are always super fresh. This is one of the only bakeries on Staten Island that you can walk into and smell the "old bakery aroma". The decor in here is so cute with all the different cookie jars they have for sale that are all built into the wall in a very neat and organized shelf system. It's very well maintained and the staff that works here are all so pleasant. The best cookies in my opinion are the apricot walnut squares. They are like a maple syrup sweet, soft little bite of heaven. I have also been to functions were they had ordered a few pounds of their cookies mixed. I believe the cookies go for about $12 a pound or so, but it is completely worth every penny. read more

If you asked me what is the best thing I ever ate : Red Velvet LuLu cupcake from Cookie Jar. I live in Queens and make the trip out here whenever I possibly can (by excessively nagging my husband). Its soft, sweet, decadent, and rich. Its red velvet with cream cheese filling? (Correct me if im wrong) and coated in white chocolate with red sprinkles. I literally dream about this when I'm sad or bored. They also have amazing Dulce de Leche linzer cookies as well as other varieties of linzers and almost every cookie you can think of. I've had this place in draft form for a while because the most memorable part of this place was how attractive the girl was that worked here, because wow. But here goes: There are two aisles of cookies here and no room to see them. People line up in front of both cases. So I spent like 5 minutes trying to get a read on which ones I wanted, and when I finally decided on the six or so different items, by the time it was my turn to order I had completely forgotten most of them, and had to bounce back and forth and push between people to figure out what it was I even wanted while 10 or so people waited in line, wanting me to finish. I also had to tell this stunning girl that I wanted "rainbow sprinkle cookies" and "strawberry wedding cookies." Afterward I had to go home and do pushups and scratch myself in public and fart a lot to re-affirm my masculinity. It's still there. All of the cookies were fresh. I don't remember how good they were though. I want to say "very." My favorite part of this place though is how it's located in the middle of nowhere. It's a great addition to this city. read more
