I wanted someone who would be: 1 -fun 2 -interactive 3 -prepare a good meal 4 -understood my vision, and 5 -could work with young kids (since this would be a family affair). Chef Aundre hit on ALL of those. I reached out to him and 3 other in-home chefs through Yelp after reading their reviews. Chef Aundre was the only one that seemed to really get what I was trying to do. He had me complete a brief survey and then proposed a menu that was different from our usual, but still simple enough that we could make it any day. He arrived promptly and well-prepared. He brought all of the ingredients and made sure they were quality, natural and organic. He walked us through our menu and coached us along the way - showing us cutting techniques, cooking techniques and even plate presentation tips and tricks. At the end of the meal he engaged our 3 littles (ages 3, 6 and 8) to cook dessert. I was so impressed with how well he managed them and engaged with them. I was already thrilled with them BEFORE the wedding day. They are very nice people and extremely accomodating. I swapped sauces on the entee dishes, changed my choices for appetizers, changed the number of attendants by 25 people, added coffee service, changed the number of attendants again, throw in a vegetarian dish... no matter what my changes, they were happy to help. And great response time too. If I sent an email at 2 pm, I'd have an email back before 5 pm. Working with a well run company is fantastic, but of course you're hiring them for the food! I think a lot of people have an idea of what good food is vs. good catered food. If you use Sterns, you just won't have to worry about making that distinction. It is amazing food! Not amazing catered food... AMAZING FOOD! For appetizers we had the antipasto skewers and spanikopita. Delicious and flavorful! We had 2 entrees; pork chops with a balsamic glaze and chicken florentine. Both were cooked perfectly and still juicy! But my favorite item was the creamy mushroom rice. It was like a really rich risotto and I'm not ashamed to admit I used my roll to sop up the remaining sauce. And luckily for me, I was concerned about having enough food, so I ordered more than was necessary. I didn't realize that Sterns already makes a pretty hefty portion, so I had a ton of leftovers. The day after the wedding while everyone was hanging out at my parents' house, people kept sneaking into the fridge to pick at what was left. People were seriously fighting over who got the last pork chop (Grandpa won, because c'mon, who's going to fight Grandpa?!). Lastly, is the event service. We had 2 servers; both prompt, polite, and hard working. Always a smile like they were happy to be joining us. Of course I was late to my own wedding, and I was the only one who knew where things were supposed to go and all that. Since I wasn't there, they ran with it and were ready on cue without instruction needed. I ran into them again when I went to return a few items we borrowed... still smiling. I have received numerous compliments from my friends and family, and I know I'll use Sterns again. I suggest you do the very same!
