The service was really great even though it was Black Friday! The noise level wasn't too much and the music played at a reasonable volume. I didn't need to raise my voice at all to talk to the staff or my company. I got the chicken sandwich (medium) and thought it was really good. I did think the bread was a little much and it did fall apart on me. But the flavor was spot on. The coleslaw that they top the sandwich with was also really crisp and tasty. Ask orders the sweet potato fries and they were okay. There was a bit of cinnamon or something on it, and they were crispier than I like, but still pretty good. read more

First time trying, and it was all soo good! Let's start with the staff being super friendly and helpful. The chicken sandwich was pretty good. The Texas hot is pretty spicy but delicious. My husband got the Sleezy chicken- big portion and very flavorful. My daughters got the chicken and waffles. Waffles were fluffy and moist. Will be coming back for sure! This is a review about redemption and how Jessica turned this what would of been a 2 star review into 5. This weekend was our first attempt to tryout this new swanky BBQ spot. So we decided to order for pickup since we lived down the street. We got the full rack of ribs, 6 jumbo tenders, and 4 sides for $49.99 which was priced fair for the amount of food. However, when we got home shortly after pickup, the ribs were barely warm. The chicken tenders breading were mushy from being in the container. We were missing 1 side and 1 of the 4 sauces (I should of checked the bag at pickup). Not the expectations I had in mind so I called back and Jessica, the person that originally took our online order, picked up. I explained the issue about how the food looks like it could be great but fell short because of this and that (won't bore you with those details). Jessica immediately offered solutions to make things right so we came back the next day and decided to dine in instead. Everything I expected it to be...it was. The ribs were flavorful, tender and hot and make you want to 'slap yo mama'. The tenders were juicy and in my opinion much better than Pluckers from across the street. Plucker's tender comes with a side of water...they're so dry. You didn't need any sauce for these chicken tenders but if you wanted, this spicy/sweet sauce is bomb and they have this sauce that's similar to Cane's Chicken sauce. The Mac and cheese is fire. Sweet potatoes waffle fries...they good. But that Texas Caviar...that's for the birds. Drop that from the menu...it's not a deciding factor of the number of stars but whoever created that contraption was trying too hard or not enough. The GM Adikus was awesome along with the whole staff were friendly and upbeat. Overall, we'll be back again...the atmosphere is great. read more

We were avoiding traffic heading back to Austin. We were in the area earlier that day and we figured there were tons of places to eat so we will eat somewhere in the forum. We came across the cookshack and I was sold as soon as I saw waffles on the menu. The ribs were delicious and tender, they fell of the bone. The waffles were good with the cinnamon butter (I wish I had more butter or even some syrup). The ranch was really good. The shack sauce was good. I ordered the Boujee margarita the person taking our order wasn't sure what it was since he was under 21. Butttt I got it anyways. When the girl made it I could tell she put everything in it to try and get it right she tried making it several times. She gave it to me and apologized for how long it took. She was very sweet and she did a phenomenal job. It tasted superb. My son loved the chicken bites he ate them up like there was no tomorrow. They play country music and the seating it nice, they have a table that can fit a large party if need be. Definitely recommend this place and it may be on our future eating list in the future when we drive to and from San Antonio! read more

Ugh...so disappointed with our recent visit. I was so excited to take my husband after really enjoying it with coworkers a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype I was giving it. The tenders were good but the macaroni and cheese that I had raved about was runny and over cooked in some places. The waffles were soft and dense, the consistency of a biscuit. Waffles should be crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The restaurant itself was filthy. To be fair, we arrived after the lunch rush but that's no excuse for not wiping down the drink station. I'm willing to give it another try just because my first experience was so different. I don't get the 4.5 stars here for this place. It's expensive, not very good and the drinks fountain thing was broken. We had the chicken sandwiches. Mine was super thin which was annoying for a $10 sandwich. My partners was thicker but had bones in it. I specifically asked for no coleslaw on mine which was ignored. I had to scrape off the cole slaw with the sauce which was actually pretty good. The side salad was fine. Nothing to write home about. The fries were pretty good. For $50 I got 2 sandwiches, fries, a tiny salad and 2 drinks. If it was good it would be worth it, but no flavor so... we will not be back. read more

Disgusting. You come out better getting canes. The sweet potato fries if you want to call them that taste less than a regular fry. The chicken on the sandwich had extra crust with no flavor. One of our favorite spots, we went for the first time like 2-3 weeks ago. We've been to this location 3 times since then, today being the 3rd. The food is fresh and outstanding. The atmosphere is friendly and upbeat. We love it. I would give 5 stars; the only complaint we have is today we got served the AMF (Adios My Friend) Hot chicken strips instead of the mild we ordered. {You can choose from not hot, mild, medium, Texas hot and AMF ― which Rogers clarifies stands for Adios My Friend. It includes all three of the world's hottest peppers: Carolina Reaper, scorpion, and ghost.} Needless to say, it was extremely spicy. Equivalent to one of those spice "challenges" that people participate in. And we were both unprepared for that. The strips are very red when they're that spicy, which brings me to a second point. On our second visit; we ordered mild as well and noticed they were noticeably spicer and redder than our first trip. I think we got Texas Hot on our second trip but didn't even notice. Which is why we didn't think twice about how red they were today. The wait time for the food was pretty long, but we know they're busy and short staffed so that wasn't really a problem for us.. The reason main reason for this post is for the avid yelpers that read reviews before visiting a location. If you see the Black marked toothpick in your chicken strips; that means you got the AMF level of spice. Mild has an orange tipped toothpick. We were completely unaware of the marking method evening on our third trip there. We still love this spot, will go back. The server Dominique was amazing and really advocated for us. As soon as she saw the mistake she was furious for us. The manager Ruben, whom we met on our 2nd trip to the same location made sure to refund us for our unpleasant experience.
