Country style chicken served over mashed potatoes, fried okra and a hot roll

Coming back from a strawberry farm nearby, I thought I would stop and have an early dinner. Was hungry for some home style country cooking and country cooking is what they have! The staff was very friendly and helpful with answering some questions about the menu. They know the menu well and was knowledgeable of the preparation. I ordered the country fried chicken with gravy that is served over mashed potatoes with a hot roll and a side fried okra. It was a plate special for just under $10. Food came out hot and the chicken was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Juicy and tender. I don't think the gravy was made from scratch but it was good white, peppered gravy. The mashed potatoes were real potatoes, not boxed. The okra may have been the frozen kind but it was fried and seasoned perfectly. I also ordered some ranch dressing on the side to dip the okra and chicken in and it was made from scratch ranch dressing and some of the best ranch I've ever had. The roll was like a breadstick and it was freshly baked, served hot and may have been made from scratch. It was a really good hot roll. Overall appearance was that it looked like it has been around for a while but had a cute, country diner vibe going on. I would eat there again if I'm passing through and would recommend to anyone wanting country style food with good service. The price was very reasonable with big, generous portions.

The Copper Pot provided our first southern meal on a recent trip and it was delicious and a great value. I ordered grilled catfish with sides of collard greens, sweet potato casserole, and a corn muffin. The greens were flavorful and had a perfect texture. The fish was melt-in-your-mouth tender, but a bit undercooked in the center so the server quickly brought me a replacement. The corn muffin was a little dry and small, but tasted great with some butter. Everything was served piping hot. My partner had ham steaks and we also had a slice of carrot cake which did not disappoint. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the leather booths are very comfortable. Definitely recommend for a casual, inexpensive dinner out.

Absolutely loved this place! Great food, friendly staff, and the atmosphere felt like home. My son ordered the pancake breakfast and asked us to bring him here for his birthday even though it's two hours away from us! So happy we found this spot on our travels. Highly recommend.

Traveling up to New Jersey from Georgia from my regular drive I found this place - a few blocks off of interstate 77. Sad there was no chicken and dumplings - which is what caught my eye... but they had green peas and dumplings, which was sublime! Fried Okra, macaroni and cheese and this on freaking believable fried bread, which I thought was just regular rolls - was a sick surprise!

We had breakfast here Saturday. It was probably the best breakfast food I have had locally. It was definitely the best bacon and the best scrambled eggs I have had anywhere in Surry County. I'm still on the look out for the place with the best French Toast with out going to Myrtle Beach. read more

Place has good food. However, I think it be important to have a host during rush hours. Stood in line for 10 min to get a table. 2 tables Im the back of the line, walked to dirty tables and sat down. The servers nor the cashier said anything to these customers and allow them to sit down. With no apology to the people who were being respectful and waiting for the servers to do their job. This could be a great place for a restaurant. But it's ran like a community gathering spot. read more

Ok simple country food. Filling but nothing special. though probably special to the folks that live in the area as there are not many restaurants in the area. For me, it was the 8oz hamburger that tells the story..essentially a Big Mac minus the bun. The waitress asking me how I wanted it cooked was a joke. Fried okra and squash were ok. read more

Sitting on top of a hill next to a truck stop, it's well worth the hike to dine at this place. Looks like it's been in business a number of years and is frequented by locals. Specials were baked spaghetti, chicken livers, and ribeye steak. I had the baked spaghetti and it was excellent. Next time I'll try the ribeye. All you truckers at the Flying J, get some exercise and enjoy some great food! read more

My family stopped at this local restaurant driving north on I-77. In a complete dead zone for the usual fast food options, we trusted the Yelp community's ratings and gave it a try. These sorts of local interstate stops always seem to be hit or miss; the Copper Pot was definitely a hit. It's certainly not "fast" food but it's very good country/diner cooking. read more

Asked around 'mayberry' and many locals recommended...and they were spot on. I ordered the Copper Burger, 8oz steakburger with all the fixins ($5) and it was great. My Lady ordered the chicken liver dinner for $7! there were at least a dozen very large livers with 2 plentiful side dishes. The livers were the largest and most tender we have ever had. Service was super friendly and place was clean. There at dinner time and surrounded by locals on a first name basis. If your traveling by here I would take the time for a good inexpensive home cooked meal. read more

The great old Copper Pot! When I travel through Mount Airy (Mayberry) this is my main stop location. Frankly the way life used to be, the way life should be, and here in Mount Airy it is. Pricing is great, I have never had a bad meal. Home cooking not boil in a bag chain food. The staff is fantastic and the crowd local. So if you are heading north on I-77 (just reverse for the southbound) take Exit 100, turn right, pass the truck stop on the left, take your next right to the hilltop, and enjoy your meal. read more

This is a restraunt!!!? This food was not good at all. They had on the special board Steak Tips $9.99. Waitress was nice but ssslllooowww. We asked the waitress, "Michelle" , how they were prepepare; steak rips, she said with peppers and onions. Okay we ordered them. Medium rare. Came with sides. Finally came, two little strips of green pepper and about three thin slices of onion and they were drenched in greasy oil. Steak tips were well done. She never came back for a long time. She finally came with the check. We were charged separately, for the peppers, and charged for the onions. Side salad was $3.75! No tomatoes, no cucumbers; just warm brownish ends lettuce, and a few shaved carrot strips. We left hungry. I cannot believe people eat here. It is not a restraunt; it is a horribly bad "Greasy Spoon. Lock your doors. read more

Always a 5/5 experience. Great for vegetarians, definitely not as good for vegans though. Most of the food seems to be cooked with butter but what do you expect with southern style food. Ok this quaint little country restaurant is steeped in the the Mayberry/Andy Griffith nostalgia... The meal selection is typical country fare, the service was impeccably polite and the cleanliness is truly next to Godliness. If Christian ideals, motifs, and slogans offend thee I suggest that you look elsewhere, but you'd be a fool. If you're coming from ANY LARGE metro area you're going to realize that the cost of the food will be far less than what you would leave for an average tip for average service in your hometown... it worth the 5 minute detour from I77/74... Stopped at this place while traveling. It is very clean somethings need a little updating like the drop down ceiling tiles. The food was very good. I say it is more homestyle cooking. The prices were good to potion size. I had meatloaf which came with two sides. The meatloaf was huge took up about have the plate only 6.50. Would stop again if in the area. We had a wonderful lunch at this small town restaurant. Lots of menu items to choose from. I had a teriyaki chicken salad.. Nothing fancy but very healthy and delicious. The wings were nice and had a little pop of heat to balance the sweetness. The grilled chicken salad was good, as was the pork chop-maybe a bit heavy on the salt. Service was extremely friendly with Jordan taking great care of us.

Average Dining Experience at Copper Pot Rating: I recently dined at the Copper Pot restaurant, arriving about 30 minutes before closing time. While the experience wasn't terrible, it didn't leave a lasting impression either. The food at Copper Pot was, unfortunately, quite mediocre. The dishes lacked the flavor and creativity that I had hoped for. It was a letdown considering the positive reviews I had heard about the place. One aspect that stood out was the timing of our visit. As we sat and enjoyed our meal, the staff began sweeping the floors around us, which was a bit distracting. While it's understandable to prepare for closing, it did affect the overall ambiance and enjoyment of the evening. Overall, my experience at Copper Pot was average at best. While it wasn't a bad experience, there was nothing particularly special or interesting that would entice me to return. If you're in the area and looking for a place to eat, there might be better options worth exploring. read more
