Surgery, Tenex of hip, was very very painful from the start. Injection for pain med was excruciating from start..i had to curl my fingers @ assistants fingers, cussing, screaming whole time..finally the assistant said to take deep breath,and just talk to distract pain..whole procedure was aweful..now im back to square one in Original pain. The worst patient provider experience I have ever had. You can never call and talk to your doctor or even the MA. you leave them a message they never get back to you, even sending a message through patient portal does not return any response. They send you an email saying you have a message from your provider, login to the patient portal to read but when you login there is nothing there?! There is nothing that you can rely on going to this company. I will find another provider. read more

I had my surgery on December 19th. I seldom write reviews, but I needed to give a shout out to this hospital and especially the nursing staff. My nurses were Crystal, Kristina, Juanita, and Tete! Great ladies!! Excellent care. The hospital's overall care was good. And I have zero complaints. But the nursing staff was the best I have ever had. Thank you ladies!!! They have the most difficult job and they did it with a smile on their faces and with excellence. Hip replacement surgery is never easy, but their compassion and care made it a little easier. read more

A very nice place for surgery...not a hospital full of people with illnesses. The cafeteria is also very good and a bargain so it's a very pleasant place for relatives and friends waiting for patients. Rooms are clean and private and staff were very attentive. read more

My only issue was that they over billed me and when I discussed it with them they told me the refund will take 6 weeks to process. They recognized the issue and agreed I was owed a refund but still wants to hold on to my money for 6 weeks is ridiculous. read more

I would like to comment on the quality of care but I cancelled my procedure after I was given a total of 5 different totals for my pre-procedure deposit, all of which were significantly higher than my insurance company said I should owe. They even left a message with their billing supervisor Debbie. Worst part is this would have been the second procedure I would have done with them. Turns out they actually owed me money from the first one. Of course no one told me, I had to find that out for myself. But after I found out what I was supposed to be refunded, surprise surprise it turns out that I owed them way less than they said I did. My wife is also a patient. It took her 3 YEARS to get back the $250 they over charged her. They fed her some line of BS saying they can't process a refund until a year has passed. No good reason why they then took an additional 2 years to mail a check. Debbie and her department are either terrible at their jobs, or they purposely overcharge their patients hoping no one notices. read more

Stay far away....unless you want to be treated like another number instead of like a human being, a patient. From the office staff to the PA to the doctor, you are a number and they don't care at all. I was referred to Dr Lundberg, and my 90 second phone call with him was as bad as my initial appointment with Kyndall Shultz. And god forbid you want a follow up after images, it takes well over a month. ZERO stars if I could! read more

The nice nurses did the best they could for postop pain, including providing morphine. Yes, the food is good and there are free drinks in the cafeteria. But it is hard to enjoy it when you or your loved one is in pain because you were misled by an unethical surgeon. Don't let the "robotic-assisted" and "CT-guided" mumbo jumbo fool you. It can be more like robotic-assisted torture for a total knee replacement. My spouse was in so much pain the first night after his total knee replacement by Dr. Michael Duran, that he could not sleep, even with a nerve block, morphine, and everything else. According to The Washington Post, most orthopedists will lie about postop pain out of fear patients would not agree to a knee replacement. That happened to my husband a CORE with Dr. Duran. And, of course, orthopedists do not mention new, painless treatments like GAE. Dr. Duran said the pain would mostly be from PT after a total knee replacement. Instead, the pain was relatively persistent and horrible, starting right after waking up after surgery (even with a nerve block). That is why there are knee replacement support groups on Facebook with almost 60,000 members. Yes, the pain does get better, but even witnessing this much pain can be traumatic. Also, CORE has an F rating with the BBB. But the bigger issue is that there are people in prison with more ethics than orthopedic surgeons like Dr. Duran. read more

This 2 star view is being quite kind. Their office never returns calls, doesn't take their patients seriously, and doesn't listen to problems. I am not sure if this is just Dr. Chutkin's staff (haven't spoken with the doc himself so I don't know if he is the same), or if this lax approach to patient care is how me manages his practice. Primary care called three times and left urgent messages, never to get a call back from anyone at the office at all. We went to Core because of all of the positive reviews, and I could not have been more disappointed in a doctor's office. I will find a new doctor's office for any repeat issues, as this office has proven they don't actually care about their patients. read more

Had my second surgery and stay at Core, so this is my second review. The first review was also a 1 star. As a nurse myself, I was hoping that the care would be better, but it wasn't. They forced me to stay an extra day (and of course charged me for it) even though my pain management was NOT an IV. All meds were given by mouth. I had no complications to surgery. WARNING. First let me say that the medical care I received from the hospital was EXCELLENT....I went in for my hip replacement surgery on Friday and was released the next day. HOWEVER...When I went to pickup my pain medication, the script had NOT been called in to the Pharmacy. I needed to get on the phone and let CORE know that and then the pharmacy filled the order. When it came to to paying the balance of my bill for the surgery, the BILLING DEPT. (Corinne and her boss Debra) dropped the ball. I LOST MY JOB 11 days after the surgery, and when I first received the bill, I called and asked if I could set up a payment plan with Corinne...she said the best they could do was 6 months...which was less time than I wanted, but I paid $150.00/month even though I was out of work. Then the bills stopped coming...Next thing I know I received a notice in the mail stating that the account was SERIOUSLY PAST DUE and that it would be placed with a COLLECTION AGENCY which "may include but is not limited to litigation that could result in additional fees such as court cost and interest."!!! I called Corinne to remind her of the payment plan, but she had NO RECOLLECTION of that. She then forwarded me to her boss Debra who let my call go into voicemail! I just called Corrine back today and told her that I would find a way to pay the collection agency once I received their notice, but I was going to leave a One-Star Yelp review which hospital administrators and Marketing staff will be sure to see. If you are going to get surgery at CORE, be careful when dealing with their Billing Dept.!!!! read more

Had a full knee replacement and I must say this has to be the cleanest, nicest facility I've ever been in and I've experienced many hospitals. The staff treat you like you're the only patient on the floor and I never had to wait any time I needed something. Very professional, very pleasant and genuinely care about the patients. I always felt nervous about any hospital I was going into, for very good reasons but this facility dispelled any of that the minute I entered for surgery. Highly recommend! read more

Worst hospital to have surgery at. My mother had knee replacement surgery. I was not notified when she returned to her room and she had very low oxgen pressure. Her machine was never turned back on, IV was not hooked back up, the thing that goes on your finger was left off and they never came into the room to assist her in using the restroom which resulted in her wetting herself. To top things off we were told she would have PT ant home and would get a call Monday to set it up. She did not get physical therapy until almost two weeks after her surgery and was told the order was not put in. Also we needed her pain medication switched and we were told that it was done but it wasn't until her 2 week follow up that she received it because the doctor never put it in. Very disappointing experience to say the least. read more

Had to go back and get the other knee replacement. Painful, but the alternative of going through the rest of my life bone on bone seemed like the smart thing to do. Extremely professional and pleasant crew this time around! Laura, Christine, and Kendall all R.N.'s and Crystal and Ethel, CNA's were very attentive and a great attitude that makes your stay as a patient stress free. Had to stay overnight and with all that is going on they all keep you as the patient top priority!! Dillon is a P.T. there. Very patient and professional, help me get through a difficult time after my surgery. All of the staff goes above and beyond their jobs by helping others when it may not be their job. On April 19th, 2023, I had a Left Total Hip Replacement. Dr. Creasman and his surgical room staff came in. They explained just what was going to happen during and after surgery. I greatly appreciated them. I want to give a big shout-out to Dr Charles Creasman. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Once I was in my room, these nurses (listed below) went out of their way to see to my comfort and pain control: Marilyn, Phoebe, Emma, Roema. Doug, the physical therapist, he taught me how to walk up and down stairs safely. He also showed me exercises to help strengthen my muscles. All of you are true angels. read more

Had left shoulder replaced. Exceptional care from pro-op through surgery to post-op.Wasw kept over night to get pain meds balanced. Excellent dinner, 5 star chef prepared. Wonderful choice of breakfast. Was getting ready toleave about 11:00 am,and a gentlemen came in taking orders for lunch, when told I was leaving he said we still had to eat. He would prepare lunch and we could take it home, offered my wife the same. 5 star rating on the room overnight, was as quiet as the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Only woke up for vitals twicw which is understandable. I recommend all my friends to have orthopedic surgery only here! read more

WHAT A P.O.S !!! CORE ITS YOUR LOT !!! TAKE CARE OF YOUR PATIENTS !!!!!! CEO i would Fire you !!! This Location is in a Crappy part of town It took up a 80 minutes to get there From the South East Valley & With all the Freeway & Road Congestion & constructions from the East Valley !! It Sucks !! I was suppose to have PT at 4 pm to Teach Me how to get In & Out of the Bed With a new hip & Walk a bit .. Dr.s Orders & it didn't happen until 9:30 AM ... The Night Nurses Joy & Emily were The Best Took Care of me after Surgery 5 Stars to them !! The morning crew At best a C just OK and no one tells You Parking A Holes are not the hospitals idiots !!! The Discharge could have been better !! I need to get my other hip done But I really don't want to come here It's way to far !! Mercy or Banner Would work fine !!! My Dr was A 10 Star Surgeon !! The check in process was smooth, the staff during and prior to surgery was great! After surgery is where I have an issue. The minute I woke in recovery the handed me a graham cracker and water, took out my IV asked how far we lived from the hospital. I said 30 min. The nurse called my boyfriend .. I told her my foot was starting to hurt. She said iv is out you have to wait until you get your prescription. She pushed me out to the front. She called my boyfriend again, he was pissed and said he's 3 min away..he will be there as soon as he can. I felt I was totally rushed out. I guess they needed the bed.. who knows. It wasn't right. That was the last I heard from the hospital. Never called to check up on me at all after surgery. I've had tons of surgeries and have always gotten a call a day or 2 after to check on me. After I got home and took the pain meds (2 hrs after I left the hospital, was in pain when she wheeled me out. Now my pain was at a 10) I had a reaction. I called the on call Dr line which was useless. First the Dr never called me back. I had to call twice..When she did call, she said she was talking to her dad and didn't see the page... I told her I was having a reaction, she said..that's weird.. take more, and take more often..just add Tylenol. My boyfriend who was sitting next to me could hear her and his mouth fell open. I confirmed..so..I'm having a weird reaction ( it felt like my insides were on fire and inflamed, it hurt to move and breath. I tried eating when I took them, I took pepto also) and you want me to continue taking these, and take more often then I am? I was pissed and hung up. I continued to take the pills, felt horrible. It felt like I was going to pee blood because my insides hurt so bad..Ended up in the ER. At the ER they prescribed me a different medication. I have been fine ever since. Still no call from the Core hospital to check up on me. The ER I went to called and checked on me... This place is horrible. You would think that since I called the after hours on call Dr they might care and call.. nope.. If your Dr operates at any other hospital request to go there! It's totally opposite of what I expected. Expected way better care from this less busy "Specialty" hospital. Nope!!! read more

There is a reason why you feel safe here, it's the staff. From checking in to discharge the staff have been phenomenal in the care they provide. Service was top notch and the care was phenomenal. I had a left hip replacement and from the pre-op nurse Sally, Kelly with anesthesia, and Dr. De Comas all made me feel safe and in great hands. They all crosscheck one another and help clarify anything I would ask. As someone who is in healthcare, this place has really gone above in the care they provide. Had to stay overnight, but staff was also amazing; special shout out to Ashley (charge RN), Melissa, Tami, and Shane who were more than outstanding in their care, but helped me on my road to recovery after surgery. Remodeling is a work in progress, but don't let that turn you away from this place as they were supreme. read more

I was sent there for an MRI. I was given a quote of $183 with my insurance prior to the MRI. When I arrived I was taken out a back door, walked through a construction zone outside, and then in a different building. The staff was horrible and I received a bill for over $400.00. Had I been given that price in the first place I would not have had the MRI done there. I would not recommend this hospital to my worst enemy. read more

My dad was just released last night for knee surgery. We couldn't have been more happy with the care and facility! The nurses were great! The best part was the cafeteria! Food was amazing! I was shocked when she came to take his order and made something for him that wasn't even in the menu! Amazing food and customer service! read more

My Brother Dennis had total hip replacement on Friday, May 17. The whole ordeal was wonderful! He was given his pain medication BEFORE the surgery so all we had to do was take him home and he was set for pain management. The facility is so clean but most of all so quiet! No bells going off constantly, no pages for Doctor soandso, no banging of carts and pans etc. This peaceful quiet is very calming to someone going into surgery and then recovering from. I was also impressed with how the staff treated my brother-they stood there and actually listened to him respond to a question they asked. I messed up and didn't get the names of everyone who attended to my brother but if you worked Friday May 17 for his 9:30AM hip replacement and then attended to him in recovery Room til 5:00PM when we took him home....well KUDOS TO YOU ALL. Even the chefs in the spacious cafe were friendly! The option of free refreshments is a wonderful bonus. read more

Stayed here for a night after my Mommy makeover! The staff was wonderful especially Eva she was such a attentive sweet nurse and so kind and caring . The room was comfortable the food was decent although I didn't have much of an appetite after such extensive surgery. The whole process to dropping of payment before hand dealing with Pat was was pleasure. The only thing holding me back from a five star review was a different nurse I had had on an ungodly amount of perfume or shall I say lotion as she corrected me (insert eye roll ) I feel there should be a strict policy if not being able to wear strongly or scented perfumes or lotions. Every time she entered which was a total of 3 times immediately started to vomit. So the 3 rd time she came in I politely said I'm so sorry I'm not trying to be rude but your perfume is making me sick she got offended and said I'm not wearing perfume it's lotion! I said ok, I don't care what it is it's making me ill you can't come back. Again, I felt awful but not as awful as having to vomit after having surgery she was respectful and didn't come back. When I walked the hall later that night with my angel Eva I saw / smelled here over 30 feet away and had to turn around immediately. It's also pretty pricey at $700 a night I wish I could have had a massage or something lol. Just kidding of you will be needing surgery and staying here you will be in great hands. read more

It took me a few days to gather my thoughts and feeling about this facility. Instead of saying how I felt I'll just tell you what I experienced. My mom went for foot surgery to start the reconstruction of her club feet, feet plural.  She had the first of 2 surgeries on her right foot this week. I live in Buckeye, my mom and siblings live in Phoenix. So my adult younger brother drove her to The core institute. Once they arrived they told the staff that I was the  primary contact, they were just bringing her to the center. They gave then my number so the system could send me text messaged so I knew when to leave my house with my 2 little ones to pick her up. This is how my mom wanted it.  I was never updated, I called. Nothing. I called my brother and was informed that they allowed my 17 yr old sister to stay as the medical contact, yes 17. No one updated her, my brother or myself. I kept calling my sister and instructing her to ask someone for information. . My sister texted me and told me she was out. Once the kids and I got to the center, which was not easy to find, parking was horrible.  Once I parked, I got my van ready to help my mom in. I went in because my sister had told me that the doctor took her back, it turned out that it was just a blonde staff member. My sister told that she was upset that I was taking so long to get there. I live in Buckeye and was not begin kept up to date, so maybe keep the primary contact updated not the minor child in the waiting area.  Once I go there a young man overheard me asking my sister that I wanted to speak with the doctor. That's when we figured out that she confused the female staff member for the doctor. Mom in brought out in a wheel chair. She got her to the van, we start talking to my mom in Spanish, her primary language. The female  staff member gets upset that we are taking in Spanish to her "I don't understand what's happening now, why are you speaking Spanish to her she's been speaking English perfectly fine with me". The staff member was told by my brother that my mom knows how to use crutches, not accurate. She can use crutches as a cane. My mom cannot put any weight on her right foot after surgery for 6 weeks. Her left foot is just as bad because of the club feet reconstructions when was a child in Mexico. The staff member keep on pushing my mom to use the crutches, she can't put her full weight in either foot. So she falls face first into the van. She gets her self up and gets herself in somehow. Finally she is in the van. When we get home I called  911 to help us get her into the house. It took 3 strong men to help her in. The staff member appeared bothered by her and us. At one point inwas talking to my daughter and she told me "this will only work of I'm the only one talking".  The only thing positive about this place is Dr Scott. I'm honestly terrified for her next surgery, not because of the surgery or Dr Scott (her hero), but the facility and staff. God help us. read more

Would never have surgery here again to much to write but first given inaccurate information, some of the nurses were great, not a private situation with a patient next to you in pre-op and recovery curtain wide open especially being a woman, your family not allowed to be involved at all, so much more I could say but for me never again! read more

I had foot surgery here. The building is old but I'm spoiled from the Mayo Clinic! Friendly, competent employees . It felt very sterile there but again, it's no Mayo Clinic. Dr Galli from the Core Institute does surgery out of this place. She has done surgery on both of my feet for plantar fasciitis. She is easy to get an appointment with and is a great surgeon. I wouldn't be opposed to going here again. read more

Review of Core Institute Specialty Hospital (CISH). I wish this was a positive review. It is not. In January 2023 I had total hip replacement surgery with Dr. Paul Souza of The Core Institute. I am a 57 year old, athletic female. During surgery, they broke off a piece of my femur. Surgery went much longer than expected and I bled. A lot. I woke up in recovery in severe pain, with my surgeon telling me very robotically that he broke my femur, it was repaired but misaligned, and I would be non-weightbearing for 8 - 10 weeks. I was kept at CISH three nights where my hemoglobin plummeted. Between the acute anemia and the pain, I could barely function. The staff seemed incredibly motivated to get me out of there. A hospitalist made the decision to send me to a rehab nursing facility where I received no diagnostics to determine why my Hgb was dropping. I received no treatment, not even Iron, for acute anemia. I could not walk, it was hard to breathe, and I didn't eat for the four days I was there. I have never felt more abandoned in my life. CISH did not have my back. My surgeon did not have my back. They simply moved on with their assembly line process, which works great, I'm sure, if there are no complications. If there ARE major complications like mine, however, it seems to me their process does not allow for proper follow up care. I finally ended up at Banner Desert ten days later where I was treated with an emergency blood transfusion, CT scan of the surgical site, and emergency endoscopy to diagnose the internal bleeding. Total of ten days in the hospital and rehab. I missed half a month of work/income. I lost my second job. It is June and I am still in pain and working my way through physical therapy to walk again without, as the surgeon calls them, deficits. I never should have been sent to the nursing home. If they were not equipped to treat me at CISH, then I believe I should have been sent to Banner Hospital. When I enlisted the help of their patient advocate to assess whether this was what they considered quality care, I was told after lengthy review by their Quality Review Nurse, Quality Department AND Chief Medical Officer that they considered this within their standard of care. I find that incredibly disappointing and terrifying. Major complications mean you are on your own. Neither CISH nor my surgeon were willing to provide empathy or understanding of the trauma they caused (physical and emotional). This was one of the most disappointing experiences of my life, one that I will be healing from for a very long time. read more

I had an ACL repair done in November and while the care was acceptable I was extremely unhappy with the fact that I was lied to about the anesthesiolgy provider. I was told repeatably that the provider was in my network and given a name of the provider to verify that they were in the network which I did only to recieve an almost $5000 bill from another out of network provider. I was repeatably assured that all the services had been pre-approved, including on the day of the surgery resulting in the large balenced bill. If you use this facility beware of this deceptive practice. read more

Surgery here went very well, staff was great, pre op staff so thorough and recovery as well ..all nurses and cna I was with were very nice , helpful, caring and professional. Attentive if needed and on the ball. Great doctor--Steven Meyerthall. And PAC Alexis and OR nurses and staff did my surgery so well. Core hospital is in process of remodel and the rooms are very nice and spacious. Recommend this hospital. read more
