This has been one of my favorite spots for years. I was initially brought in for their vast vegan options but I've tried several of their non vegan options and they are also up to par. They have several vegan protein options to choose from which is something I hardly see in the entire KC area. Parking is plentiful in the back and there is a back entrance in addition to the front. It's always quick seating and service. It's very warm and friendly inside and the portions are huge and very reasonably priced, I think this last visit is the first I've ever gone without leftovers because we split between 3 of us. The menu is huge but the servers are always more than happy to help and answer questions. Let's start with the best. Their chips and salsa are amazing. Their food generally tastes good. If you want to be in a restaurant that reflects the culture of the food, this is it! The music, the television shows, the artwork. Now the not so good, their tortas don't compare to Las Dos Tres (at least the one I tried) I've been here a few times. In both cases a pattern emerged regarding service: food took far too long to come out, close to thirty minutes. Also, I never had my glass refilled without asking the waitress. This last time, unfortunately, made me give up on this location. I initially ordered a taco, then asked what was in it. When I heard it was chicken guts, I said, oh no, I don't want that. In the end the waitress still brought it out. Second, I asked for the spicy salsa to be held to the side for a dish. That also was not followed. If you are ordering to go with a straightforward order this might be a good place to go... but even people coming to pick up their orders were waiting. read more

I've been here multiple times now after a friend told me about it. If you're looking for some authentic Latin food I'd recommend this spot. The staff is friendly and are always checking in on you. They have great paintings that make the place stand out and makes you feel like you're actually sitting in a Mexican home having lunch. I do want to note though that some of their seats and floors are pretty old and worn out. The bathroom was also clean. So after you're seated, they give you chips and salsa. I'm not a big fan of chips and salsa but when you're coming in extremely hungry, it serves as a a great appetizer. I love their big beer cup of horchata! I love horchata and the fact that they're not stingy on their serving, automatically gives them a good rating in my book. They have both a vegan and a regular menus, which once again is great because they care about their customers regardless of their diet, allergens, or preferences. On this day we had the cecina platter, birria beef street tacos, and the vegan tacos de canasta. Their mojara frita (fried fish) is also an amazing dish! I have been a regular to this restaurant since 2018, I realized that I haven't added a yelp review. We used to visit this place on Tuesday because of their Taco Tuesday $ tacos before COVID. They're no longer doing $ tacos on Taco Tuesday but I feel like their tacos are worth every penny. Currently, they have asada/pollo/carnitas/chorizo on Tacos Tuesday menu & they also do have cabeza/pastor/birria etc., Their floor tortillas are soft & it goes v good with meat options. They have two different sauce (red & green). My most favorite tacos (meat options) are Carnitas, Pastor, Cabeza, Birria. They also do have other food options like Burritos, tortas, Gorditas, chilaquiles etc., Service has been great all through these years. Never had a dull time here. In their renovation, they did a great job in adding all the paintings which gave a proper taqueria ambiance. Probably the best VEGAN MEXICAN FOOD I'VE HAD! I I was visiting the city for a family event and looked up some vegan options, not so into the city, but just closer to where I was in the outskirts. This location popped up. I was pleasantly surprised that they had a whole vegan menu which I think is unheard of from a restaurant that's not fully vegan. I had vegan churros which were delicious. I wasn't too sure what was the in dipping sauce but I did not use all of it. As for the vegan sope I thought it was fantastic, never had a vegan version of this and then I also had a vegan taco. I was expecting more than one taco considering it was almost 6 dollars for just one. Overall I would highly recommend it and next time if I were in the area, I would definitely dine in. Stayed in Grandview when visiting from out of town for a Chiefs game. Carlos was the absolute best. He was funny, and his service was great. Chile Rellenos were amazing, as was the birria quesadilla. I decided to look at the Yelp reviews for another Mexican restaurant, near my house, and so many people commented on the tacos here that I decided to go to The Corner, Mexican restaurant. Boy am I glad I did! I was greeted warmly in the middle of a Friday afternoon and advised to sit anywhere I liked. I was charmed by their hospitality right away. I asked the effervescent server what she would recommend for a first timer who wanted some tacos and she steered me toward the Birria beef or chicken tacos. She advised me that if I ordered five or more it would come with a gravy/dipping sauce. To my fortune, I complied. I ordered one chicken and four beef tacos, and they were outstanding! I've had tacos all over Mexico, both on the mainland, and in Baja, in the coastal areas and the interior. These tacos are in the top three that I have ever had! They are absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend the Birria tacos and especially the dipping sauce that comes with them that takes something magnificent into astronomical realms. I've been meaning to try the corner for a VERY long time, and I'm so glad I finally did. It's kind of a fusion of traditional Tex mex options and more authentic Mexican cuisine which I adore. I don't eat meat so I ordered off the vegan menu. There were a TON of vegan options!! I was so torn on what to order but opted for the green enchiladas. They hit the spot. Also both of the homemade salsas were insanely tasty. Perfect amount of heat. I could almost drink them, I wish I could buy it in stores. Nice out of the normal little spot. The food servings were generous for sure, we had to take most of it home.

We found Heaven (and we're vegan!!) - this place is off the HOOK with vegan-friendly options, and all the carnivores seem *really* happy too! They have nopales (cactus, which is a great meat substitute), several varieties of ORGANIC soy substitutes for meat (including ceviche, pastor and 3 more I don't remember since I haven't eaten flesh in over 30 years), and have house-made vegan cheese (and are working on perfecting a vegan sour cream!)... plus, they have separate prep stations for veg heads. And, this chef is a true ARTIST. We tried one of each (7?) of the vegan-friendly tacos (taco Tuesdays!!)... the squash blossom, soy chorizo, poblano Chile, and mushroom tacos were all INCREDIBLE, although my non-spicy tolerant hubby found the poblanos a bit too spicy. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I looooopved the suer spicy specialty salsa, which is the hottest and tastiest I have EVER found in a restaurant. The Corner Mexican Food is a must go-to for vegans! There's an entire separate vegan menu with dozens of options - I'd forgotten what it's like to have a whole menu to choose from. I went with my parents who are also vegan - my mom got the Cheese Enchilada Plate (with rice and beans) and my dad ordered The Corner Burrito (with soy chorizo). My dad commented at least 5 times throughout the meal how delicious his burrito was. There are several different vegan meat options you can choose from for most of the dishes. I ordered a Mulita (with soy ground beef) which is like a beefed up quesadilla or 'taco sandwich'. I'd actually never had one of those before but definitely enjoyed it. Many o' Mexican Authentic and delicious located smack dab in the middle of Main street in South Kansas City, Grandview to be more exact, The Corner Mexican Food is not actually located on a corner. But, the vibe that you immediately notice upon entering is about as local as it gets, the booths and tables are labeled with bright colorful printed pictures of menu offerings and numbers. Also, the inside is spacious and vibrant. There is a wide sturdy wooden bar as well, however, currently the Corner Mexican Food restaurant doesn't have a liquor license. What they do have though? Multiple flavors of ice cold bottled jaritos and horchata. When examining the menu you will be amazed at the variety of dishes offered, seemingly, from all over Mexico. Some of the dishes are very unique and can't be found on a lot of Mexican restaurant menus here in Kansas City Missouri. The prices are fantastic with most dishes being listed under $10. Now, do bring your Google translator with you and be prepared to look up some of the names of dishes on the menu if you aren't fluent in Spanish but, don't be afraid to branch out and try out something different from the usual enchiladas and tacos. Anything with the hard white salty Oaxaca cheese is a winner in my book especially the Gordita and the Picadita. Even though I'm still not a hundred percent sure on how to actually explain them structurally, these two authentic Mexican dishes, most likely street foods, are flavorally wonderful. Each with layers and layers of textures. The gordita itself is somewhat comprised of a deep fried tortilla as it's "shell" and stuffed with succulent meat, my choice being the slightly spicy chorizo, and then crisp cool lettuce, layers of cheese, and a drizzle of sour cream. Definitely one of my favorite offerings on the menu. Another great thing to either add to your order or make a light lunch out of is the fried plantains. There is a generous portion of four halves of large meaty plantains pan fried and caramelized with a soft texture that has such a nice mouth feel. They are served with savory soupy beans and cubes of dense salty Oaxaca cheese, almost resembling imported hard feta. This dish, though incredibly simple, is a unique thing to be found on a menu in the Midwest. I love the way the sweetness of the plantains are brought out by the cooking and carmelization and the different mixtures of textures and flavors. read more

This is one of the more legit taco joints in the metro. I came here on a Taco Tuesday, where they provide a variety of street tacos for $1 each. I had chicken, ground beef, steak, and carnitas tacos. I enjoyed all of them except the carnitas, but that's because I was expecting it to be shredded pork (it was cubed). All the tacos have onions and cilantro on them; depending upon what meat you receive is what sauce you can get on the side. The beef tacos were the most flavorful out of all I ate. I wasn't a fan of the guacamole because it was bland to be, but the fresh salsa though? Absolute FIRE. I will hurt someone for that salsa!! I don't believe they sell it to-go, but they should. What a wonderful family restaurant They are located inside a small house off of Main Street and have a large outdoor patio in the back of the house which could be fun on a nice day. Our server, Sara, was wonderful. She was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and was happy to share a little bit about their family. We started with the homemade guac, which wasn't really necessary, but I'm so glad Sara suggested it. The flavors were so fresh and it was a good portion size - you could easily share it with 4 people. It is an excellent choice! I had the special, which was the Huarache with mixed meats (chorizo and asada) and I enjoyed it. It had great flavor and the portion size was plenty big. I loved having the prickly pear on top.
