Sounds kinda gross right? OMG AMAZING. I was definitely impressed. There's good news and bad news...the good news in that it seems like business is picking up since the last time I came here. I am happy about that because it means the owners/workers have a stable job and the place won't close down. The bad news is I am worried it's going to become a "mainstream" bar, full of a bunch of assholes. It suddenly seems like the "it" place to be...which is fine! I used to love this place, as you can tell from my first review. Then I witnessed someone (identified to me as an owner) put his hands on a woman who appeared impoverished and struggling. She had stumbled in and then stumbled out before being shoved on the sidewalk. I'd like to expect establishments to work on respectful, compassionate and creative ways to help their communities, but I'm not even holding The Corner to that standard. If I could leave zero stars , I would. We called to make sure the kitchen was open until 2am. We drove all the way from kendall to this place and got there at 1:40am. The bartender gave us some stupid lame sarcastic excuse that the kitchen was closed and it wasn't up to him but the chef. He was extremely condescending and rude and the place looked like shit. I ordered 2 drinks from a guy behind the bar. I went to the bar to order again, I was refused service. Was not intoxicated or rude in any way, was literally refused service b/c I supposedly had tab open 'with other bartender' or some nonsense. Other people came up without any tab open, ordered drinks, paid in cash, paid via credit and closed out. The other bartender closed my tab, was *still refused* service at the bar. Spoke to manager who didn't even listen, sided with her lady bartender. Have never been treated as disrespectfully in my life as with 'the corner' bartending staff. As I stood there watching the one bar-tender construct one single overly fruited and presumptuous cocktail over the course of 5 minutes in front of a mostly empty bar with 3 others standing around waiting and waiting I pleaded in my mind to the other patrons to just order a damn beer! But alas, the next dufus ordered some alternative overly-fruited cocktail and at that point I decided to sit and wait 10 minutes until some people cleared out. Afterwards I ordered 4 beers for myself and a couple waters and closed the tab immediately in order to avoid another long wait. The space itself is pretty cool and comfortable. Am I even in Miami? This is hipster central (think Wynwood but even more condensed). Thick glasses and facial hair styles from the 1800s are all found in abundance here. The great irony though is that on the same block is Club Space, pretty much the antithesis of The Corner. Unlike at Space, at the Corner you will find original cocktails, microbrews, and good conversation. The Corner is the perfect place to go to when all the other bars close late. Outstanding little place you would expect to find in NYC, not downtown Miami. Ate/drank here twice. Drinks and food are very high quality. And service is even better. Pan con tomato, BLT, and croque madame are very, very good. Charcuterie plate is what you would expect from a much more expensive place. Drinks are inventive and definitely not watered down. Another thing that could my attention is how clean it is...staff is constantly sweeping the sidewalk and wiping down the tables. My point is that the staff here really seems to care and is on top of all details. I really hope this place makes it. It is just what the Park West neighborhood needs. And I could not be happier that this place is 2 blocks from my front door. One of those few places you want to find the owner and congratulate her/him for a job well done. read more

Small dark hipster lounge in the north end of downtown Miami. Good selection of scotch and craft beers. Seating areas inside and out. They have food but I've no idea if its quality. I've had no noticeable issues with service but the small bar area could be a chore to penetrate when the place is hopping. One warning though, it's located smack dab in the middle of a seedy part of town so parking can be sketchy. All in all the place is cool as it reminds me of your typical bar from up north. read more

Went to check out their Counter Corner party tonight. While I expected the small space to be packed with party goers, what I hadn't anticipated was for them to be so understaffed at the bar. While the shows were going I figured the bar would be slightly easier to get service at - WRONG. I waited 15 minutes in line at the window (because it is impossible to reach the inside bar with how the place is set up for performances and where the door is). Once those initial 15 minutes were up, I know because I ran a timer on my phone from how annoyed I was, the bartender WALKED AWAY as I opened my mouth to order a beer and began to take video which I'm assuming must've been for Instagram. He never looked back at the window. Eventually the girl working the far side of the bar came over about 4-5 minutes after this happened to take care of me and the line of people behind me. I can only assume she saw my face which is why she came over. But even though I was grateful it left the entire bar inside without a bartender. The guy was now nowhere to be seen and the girl bartender was sweet but slow. I mean there is no actual mixing involved in grabbing a beer. So 1 absolutely horrible bartender. I still can't believe he just walked away. And 1 bartender with the opposite of "pep" in her step. Fantastic scheduling for what is their busiest monthly party. Luckily it's not more often. So I stopped by the other night. I though it was great. I'm so happy to have a place open way-late! When I go out , depending on my mood, I look for cozy place where it's dim-lit enough for privacy, yet, music not-too-loud that I can carry a conversation with people. I definitely can't stand bright establishments. This was spot on. DJ Zehno played non-stop amazing jamz, some of which I haven't heard before. I can't find them anywhere else. So yes I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to enjoy some evening time company, out of South Beach. Now my BLT sandwich I had was great, only thing, I could hardly bite through the tough bread. (I'm not a fan of toasted bread.) The Bartender Anthony was very kind, and he served me the most amazing cocktail: La Tacubaya (Ocho Plata Tequila, Green Chartreuse, Lime, Hibiscus, Agave, Habanero Bitters) For this, I am definitely a FAN!!! Was a wonderfully balanced summertime drink. I know I could have many of these, and feel OK. I am a fan of Hibiscus, and Peppers. I can't wait to try their other cocktails. I like the chill vibe and the fact that I can wear jeans and a T-shirt to a bar in Miami. The appetizers are tasty and there are a variety of beers. The location isn't the greatest. Initially wasn't an issue for me because I would do street parking right in front of the bar where I felt somewhat safe, but now finding parking is a nightmare thanks to the new nightclub across the street (no fault of the Corner). Happy hour is a nice time to go, but late night it becomes overrun with 20-something-year-old chain smoking hipsters, which just isn't my scene. read more

Went in the other night, Friday the fifth around 1am, and was disappointed. Left without having a drink and having s bad taste in my mouth. I brought my friend with me; it was his 1st time so I talked up the place. Ordered 2 Moscow Mules from the bartender, hipster type, and drinks were not very good. We only tasted them and asked him to make them again. He had an attitude, took the drinks away and decided he didn't want to serve us. Not sure if other bartenders caught on to what happened but we then were ignored by all the bartenders. We couldn't even get a beer. I've been there several times and always enjoyed myself. Literally, as good as it gets. This place has all the makings for what a bar should be. Great location(corner of Miami Ave an 11st nw), great drink and beer selections both bottled and taps, cozy ambience along with an eclectic staff and crowd. Cocktails are fresh and inspiring paired with a great late night menu that serves food past 5 a.m. I am not sure what time they do close up shop but I am sure its well into the dawn hours as every time I have left the sun has been peaking its bright rays over the Bay. With a sidewalk window that you cn order from incase the inside gets a little jammed, the energy of this place literally seeps out onto the street. THis is possibly the best thing that could have happened to this area along with Miami. Before, I would never plan on making any stops here unless I was so inebriated, My judgment was skewered. BOosting the likes of Goldrush, Space, and now the downright shameful 90 degrees, the area was laden with crackheads, pookheads, and people with no flavor. This place is my home field. I end up at the corner bar as every night out on the town begins to wind down. From the second you arrive, there are friendly and familiar faces everywhere. This is the type of place where the bartenders, regulars, and staff remember you by name. On any given night you'll find the staff here, on their days off, enjoying a beer and spending time with friends. The own bartenders occasionally spin their favorites on the DJ booth, and there is always a cocktail of the week posted on a chalk board. The selection of wine, spirits, and beer here is exceptional. I've never had a drink here that made me question how many it'd take me to feel it, which is really important in my book. Feel free to stop by, even if it's your first time. Tables are normally filled with people who are just meeting. The Corner welcomes all with open arms.
