Came here for a concert my step son is in and it is a typical dive bar kind of place. The description says beach side, but you can't see the beach even if you stand on a chair. It was raining so maybe if they just put a sand box in front. So imagine an old sports bar with old bar smells. It is wide open with a wrap-around bar, booths and a back room as well as a patio. All four walls are covered with TVs and there is a pool table and juke box. All the fixings for shenanigans. The bar service was great and there were 2 bartender one newer Lola I think and one more experienced. Both were very attentive. I spent most of my time in the backroom THE RED ROOM. It had a little bit of an odor like sewage, but it may have been because it was really raining hard and long outside and the building is definitely old. Finally, they have food and a good selection. I didn't order the food because the menus looked over used. Like a piece of printed paper that had seen way to many hands. Still, if I didn't have to go to the concert. Maybe next time if I find myself here again. read more

I had the best dinner out in a very long time! I had the lamb chops with a side salad and sautéed mushrooms. My boyfriend had the fish and chips. The fish was super fresh, and had a beer batter. The lamb chops were grilled to perfection. Their regular dinner menu comes back the day after the Super Bowl and we were allowed to order from that menu vs the football menu which doesn't have the typical entrees. I highly recommend this restaurant and bar. The owner/chef came out and spoke to us for a while and was very friendly and nice. We'll be back!! read more

Sand Bar seems in desperate need of a reboot. They can't seem to hold on to bartenders. Service is sloooow. Maybe because no one is ever there. You never know when the kitchen is open. I was there at 5:30 on a Saturday, and the kitchen wasn't open yet! Plus, the food and drink prices have gotten a bit too high, considering the poor experience. I'll occasionally return because there isn't that much to do in North Beach and Sand Bar used to be a great spot for drinks, food, and fun in the neighborhood. Sandbar is a chill restaurant near the beach. My friends and I went at 3, so there were only a few other customers at the bar. The restaurant has a few tables with life-size games (jenga, connect 4), which was fun to play when waiting for our food. They serve very typical American-grill food: burgers, pull-pork sandwiches, fries, etc. The serving sizes are huge and everything was tasty. read more

NEW AND IMPROVED!! I was a fan of the original Sandbar and was disappointed when it closed due to damages after Hurricane Irma. However, it was purchased by a new owner who made some upgrades but kept the the fun, local vibe! The biggest change is that the sand was removed! How can you have a sandbar with no sand?? Trust me, it's a HUGE improvement! Who knows what was lurking in that sand! The new floors are clean and there is no fear of twisting an ankle! I hadn't realized that there are two additional spaces beyond the main bar. If you walk through the back of the bar, there is a nice outdoor area with some games like ping-pong. Then, there is a whole other room! I was there last night and they had an awesome, rocking band performing in the back room. The acoustics were great! The bartender was friendly and on-point; drinks were reasonably priced. I didn't eat last night, but the food looked and smelled great, so I am looking forward to returning and sampling the menu. I had a few amazing meals there lately. Chef Jerry is back, and the food is awesome. Lamb chops, asparagus, brisket, corn on the cob, tacos, nachos piled high. The beautiful bartenders are all very friendly and attentive. Smoke-free indoors. The people who do not hate kareoke (like me) all love the Friday Night singing at the Sand Bar. The server had my dasher tell me to call the restaurant to order. So I did and they told me I would have to pay for it to add to the order (even though there wasn't a spot for it on DoorDash.) Okay so I tried and the person told me I can't add it to my meal and then hung up on me. I was set to pay for it because I don't like dry food. And the whole meal was terrible. This bar opened last year (can't remember when) and it has been updated with many tv screens all over, no sand, bigger bar, still have a pool table, and food menu. They have also opened up an outdoor area where you can chill. Further back, you can find a room which has been equipped with a stage for live music. They offer happy hour and the prices are indicated next to the regular price. Last night I tried their wings with Korean sauce and the quesadillas and they were both delicious!!! They are still trying to promote the bar and it is not that full. The bartender was super sweet and was attentive to us. Service was good. They have several theme nights. The host had a 3 course meal at the host stand next to our table. The waitress' outfit looked like she belonged at the titty bar down the street. I ordered a burger cooked medium and it came out looking like coal and the quesadillas were black too. I decided to stop in Sand Bar because I had heard how good it was. Disappointed to say the least. We went for happy hour on. Monday, the fact it was empty wasn't surprising, after all, it is Monday. We ordered a fully loaded baked potato when we sat down. So excited to see that on the menu, my favorite. An hour later, no baked potato, time to look at the menu again. The menu looked good, especially for bar food. Bartender recommended the nachos. We ordered the beef nachos. Looked like a plate of chips with chili from a can and melted velveeta on top, a few slivers of jalapeño...and a tiny side of pico de Gallo, sour cream, and what looked to be store bought guacamole. Very disappointing Nachos...moving back to the fully loaded baked potato. Showed up an hour after ordering not being cooked, sent it back immediately and when it arrived back, just sour cream and still not properly cooked. Service was great until the shift changed. Manager seemed to be burnt out and have a huge attitude. Actually tried charging me for bacon, I told her I thought I paid for that with additional charge for the "fully loaded" baked potato. At the end of my visit, I left regretting spending $60 on awful food and sweet margaritas. I'd be doing a terrible disservice recommending this place. Came in a ketchup ramekin. The time to get the this tiny portion was about 18 mins! There was only 5 tables and 3 bartenders. We asked our friendly server Jasmine about the portion size and she let us know that was the correct size. We expressed our disappointment and she did nothing to correct the situation.
