No communication from the wait staff about the wait, no apologies; nothing. We had to go up twice to the counter to check on our order. They acted nonplussed, as if this was how things are supposed to be run and that we were the crazy ones. No one came to check on us after we got our drinks. Clearly, they were disorganized. When we finally got our pizza, and cut it ourselves, the pizza flopped down, causing all the toppings to slide off. That's not how a pizza is supposed to act if it's fully cooked. The little stove is an unbelievable little gem in town that really doesn't offer much in terms of food but it is hands down one of the best wood fire oven establishments you will visit. The chef clearly knows what he's doing, eveything is fresh, the foccacia is to die for and the staff and ownership are always friendly. Was told this place was worth checking out, well I know why the chef/owner isn't still working in NYC, he can't manage his staff. Place looks very nice and when your bartender is too busy texting right in front of you instead of taking care of the guests, that should tell you all you need to know about this restaurant and why the owner/chef didn't make it in NYC. Funniest part is the owner is just standing there watching it all unfold in front of him and doesn't correct his staff at all. We were in town for a few hours for bridal dress shopping and found this cute place next to the nostalgic movie theater. Opens at 4pm, but worth the wait. We ordered focaccia with whipped feta, the charcuterie board, two caesar salads, and a pizza. I ate almost all the focaccia all by myself before my daughter returned from the restroom. It was THAT good! The bread was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The feta tasted less cheesy and more bland, creamy like burrata, and it was perfect. I was going to get one to go until I saw there was another helping on the charcuterie board I had ordered. The Caesar salads were not my favorite and the pizza was like a good hand-tossed with home-made sauce. Bright, cheerful place with one waitress. You know when you go to a place or think about a place and it makes you feel all warm and special in your heart? The Little Stove is one of those places for me. One of my very best friends got married in October and, as beautiful as the weekend was, it was definitely stressful for her and she was going through a lot of different emotions. In any case, her rehearsal dinner was scheduled to begin around 5PM on the Friday in question and it was at a location just down the street from The Little Stove. Before arriving to the rehearsal dinner, I could tell that my friend was starting to fade. She was tired from all of the work done that day, had to answer so many questions, fielding so many different family members and friends, and just really not taking any time for herself. I know that her mood was only going to go downhill and that was the VERY last thing that I wanted for her on her wedding weekend. So, I decided to steal her away for a short period of time. Just before the rehearsal dinner started I snuck her up the street to The Little Stove for a couple of espresso martinis. We got a cute private seat up and the end of the bar were served quickly. The martinis were SO GOOD and just so cute and helped us to both take a deep breath and remember how excited we were for the weekend and for her big day and future. The staff was so kind and the space itself is so classy, modern and yummy. I REALLY wished we could have stayed for some food, but I'll just save that for next time! I'm in town managing my father's estate after he passed away.....I really wanted to try this place after I read the reviews.....I wanted to get takeout to take back to my hotel after traveling and handling his business. They didn't answer the phone to place an order so I drove there to ask if I could place a takeout order. They said they don't do take out orders. I thought that was strange. I've traveled all around the country and I've never had that happen before. So, anyway just to let people know you can not order a takeout order. Just not a normal pizza so don't expect pepperoni. 12 inch pizzas. So we ordered about 5 pizzas, a sautéed shrimp thing, and a couple of Caesar salads and they had a chicken salad special. 4 glasses of wine, 2 specialty cocktails. Our bill was $310. Our food came out gradually over an hour. An hour. I don't know. I don't think it was worth it. Bottles of water, no ice. Just no real service for these prices. I'm sorry. I want to love it. I came to this restaurant with low expectations. I love pizza but anything I have tried around the surrounding area has been mediocre at best. When I came in the first impression of the place was that this was a high end pizzeria that was stolen from Chicago or New York and was hidden in Jacksonville. The ambiance was great and the servers were great. Its always nice to see the pizziolo in front of you making the pizzas and the drink selection looks appetizing but I only tried a chardonnay which was decent itself. Now the food... I tried the fresh foccacia which was fantastic and also the shrimp appetizer which was also great. The pizzas were one of the best ive ever had. Ive still haven't tried all of them but i plan to so honestly go try any of them. The quality of the ingredients is unparalleled to any restaurant nearby and do yourself the favor if they have the pasta of the day available just try it. If you have not had fresh pasta before you are going to have your mind blown. My only complaint is that because of my job its hard to go there as often as I want to and no blame to the place, I understand the operating hours, im not looking for a pizza waffle house. read more
