I do not believe they have food, but what they do have is a large selection of beers and drinks, live music, and a really cool atmosphere to hang out. So sad because there is such great potential here but the flies are attacking us. They are the big kind that attracts to dog and horse poop. I think it's because there are no trash cans for food so people leave their pizza boxes laying around and as I am here right now someone's big dog just took a huge dump right next to where I was trying to eat and drink my beer.. no they didn't clean it. It just sat for more flies to come. Very grossed out. Gotta say, kudos to good beer, good music, and nice staff. Such a fun hidden gem! The first line for drinks was really long, but you can try your luck going over to the left where the seats are the bar are to get a drink, that worked for me. I got the Berry Lemonade which was great! I really enjoyed it, it was unique & refreshing! My sister thought it was too sweet though. This is perhaps our favorite place in Corolla. Truly as "beer gardeny" as you can get. A bar with a great selection of beers from all over, patio and lawn seating under a humongous shade tree and even a couple of cool local dogs who swing by for a visit. Very rustic decor, with artifacts from who knows where, but very interesting to see. Bartenders are local, friendly and knowledgeable surfers. Super cute beer garden with plenty of options on tap and in cans to choose from. It's a little off the beaten path, but that also keeps it from getting overcrowded which I really appreciate. There's no indoors at this place, so if it's raining or bad weather this is probably not the spot you want to be at. But when the weather's nice it's a great spot to grab a beer, cider or hard seltzer and hang out with friends. There's decent space for kids to run around here too, but they don't have the types of games and options that other spots like Coastal Cravings have for them, so bring something to keep them occupied if you come here. Service can be slow at times especially if you're putting in a large order with a big party, but the line moves quickly and bartenders here are friendly and accommodating. There's no food here either, so make sure you have a plan for when and where you're eating before coming. read more

This is one of my all time favorite vacation bars! Been going there every year we go to OBX (Outer Banks). The vibe and scenery is just chill and relaxing. They have a ton of unique places to sit. The owner likes to keep an eccentric mix of beers on tap. I alway pick up some cool swag too. It is actually family friendly too. We were in area for the lighthouse when we got back on road and happened upon this cute out of the way hidden bar.. set in scenery of oak trees and plenty of shade.. this beer garden had lots of beers to choose from.. one bartender was helpful and friendly .. when he put your beers on tab he put them in a mouse trap hanging behind the bar! Crazy right? The bar seats were barrels ! They do offer some food but basically chips and salsa or bag chips nothing fancy. They also have gift shop upstairs for shirts and stuff with logo on them. The service here was good the atmosphere is very chill and there's fans going to circulate air so not do hot sitting outside! Very cool place! Lots of beer choices from draft to cans. The draft beers are $8 so not cheap. They have a ton of tables and cool furniture to choose from. It's a very large space and they play music that most people will enjoy. One important note! Bring bug spray or cover yourself from head to toe. We all had shorts on and we could only stay for one beer because the bugs were so bad!!! Our ankles and legs are covered in bites. Certainly not the places fault, and it's still worth a visit, just come prepared. read more

They have really awesome decor - throne like chairs made out of driftwood, bar seats made out of old industrial barrels, and benches made out of canoes. The scenery is picturesque and makes for a memorable setting. If only the beer and service matched the decor. The beer selection was OK... not a lot of local brews. But mainly, the bartender was just not friendly. She said just a handful of words and looked like we were bothering her by having a drink. I'd still return if I were in the area just because the site is so cool. I just hope for a better drink next time. read more

Me and the girlfriend just so happen to stumble upon this super cool place! The outside decor provides for a cool atmosphere that me and the girlfriend loved. We both got ciders that were delicious! We ended up coming out here twice during our vacation. Corolla overall seemed to be on the quiet and sleepy side so there's not a lot of exciting stuff going on in the area, but this beer garden is a hidden gem that kind of redeemed it in my eyes. I absolutely loved it here and think it has some of the coolest vibes. It's just a very relaxed little outdoor bar with about 16 or so craft taps, and a variety of seating, all under a huge shady tree. Drinks seemed to be a good mix of local beers with a few cider/seltzer/lemonade type options for any non beer drinkers in your party. Food options were a few snacks they had available, but it appeared you were also free to bring/order food from elsewhere to enjoy there. Both times we went, there were a lot of families and kids enjoying the day together there. The atmosphere seemed perfect for relaxed conversation and for hanging out a while. If I was in the area again I would absolutely love to get a chance to visit the garden again and spend some more time here. read more

*Note: this review is only for the beer garden. We did not have an opportunity to visit the coffee shop during their business hours. This little gem was brought to our attention by our tour guide from our ATV tour at Corolla Jeep Adventures. I'm so happy he pointed it out, because this place is awesome. The facility doubles as a coffee shop during the morning and afternoon and a beer garden in the evenings. A giant tree in the center of the garden provides shade over the majority of the area with some cool up lighting. High tops and picnic tables are scattered throughout for groups of all sizes. There are normally bar stools at the bar, but they were removed due to Covid. They do offer small snacks, but our tour guide informed is that you can pickup a pizza from next door and bring it into the beer garden, which is what we did. They have a moderate selection of craft beers supported with domestics beers and a wine selection to choose from. They also have live music, however the artist was cancelled the night we went due to rain in the forecast. This place has really a relaxing and chill atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place for adults to hangout and unwind after a long day in the sun. read more

They get one star because they said they are open on their website, social media and phone recording yet they were open till 10 pm the day I checked. I called several times just to check since we were in the off season 10/5 and recording said "yes we are open". Pull up, dark and no sign. We love this coffee shop! It's located right in the village and offers good coffee and great service. I ordered an iced oat milk latte (50 cents extra for oat milk) and my sister got a frozen hot chocolate with 3 shots of espresso. They have several specialty drink options and a variety of different flavor pumps and milk options. We both really enjoyed our orders! We sat inside for a while and then hung out in the beer garden with our coffees. We love the relaxed vacation vibe and how personable the baristas are. read more

When my search for coffee led me to this place, I had no idea I would fall in love. I read the reviews, and expected great coffee, but The Shack is so much more. I wish it existed at home so I could visit often. The overall vibe is awesome. It has such a great energy. The coffee is fantastic, as was the muffin my son and I shared. My husband had a giant chocolate chip cookie, which he generously shared, and I loved that as well. I have now visited four times since the day I found this gem, and my husband and I were able to get away for a few hours to enjoy the beer garden as well. There are twelve different beers on draft, and many many more by the bottle. Being craft beer lovers, we were thrilled with what they had to offer. It wasn't long before we made a few friends and enjoyed a couple rounds of corn-hole. I will definitely find myself there a few more times before this vacation ends, even if it is just for coffee. I highly recommend doing yourself a favor if you are in the area by stopping in. The chances of you regretting it are slim to none. read more

Corolla is a unique destination in the Outer Banks. Unlike Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Southern Shores, etc. Corolla is home of the sprawling shopping centers rather than unique stand alone businesses. The Shack is an exception. Tucked away behind a wild horse tour company this little spot did us just right on our second to last day staying in the area. As soon as we took a seat we knew were in capable hands and I took it all in. Sprawling grounds under a beautiful tree with unique seating (brought back from Indonesia) along with the bar top itself. How do I know this? Because I was sitting next to the woman who runs the coffee shop upstairs and her cute as hell boyfriend runs the beer garden. How cool is that? 2 businesses in one, closed from October to February. Man what a life. The beer was served in plastic cups, which I did not love but I did love everything else about this adorable beer garden. We met my brother, wife and 3 boys, it was early around dinner time. My sister and husband joined us as well and we had our own little happy hour. If you find yourself in Corolla and you like beer this is the spot folks. Enjoy. read more
