This was the winner of a week on the northern Outer Banks! Great ocean view. Friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive service. The seafood lovers were ecstatic; the fish-averse had less to choose from. Just amazing bacon wrapped scallops! A delicious all-crab crab-cake, available as an add-on that, happily, was big enough to share! Perfectly done salmon, and excellent mahi-mahi fish and chips (well... just fries). The burgers were the default option for the non-fish-lovers, and only were OK... but everything seafood was spectacular!!! Our waitress, Sydney, was welcoming and friendly and extremely knowledgeable about all of the menu options. Me and my family have been coming to OBX for over 10 years, and this was the first time we have heard of Oceanfront Grille. And we were totally blown away with great food and awesome service from Kelly and staff. Now I will day we were a little skeptical about trying the crab cakes, but when we heard the owner was from Maryland, we breathed a sigh of relief. Oceanfront Grille will be the only place that I will be getting a crab cake from in OBX. Everything was delicious, from the lamb chops, to the shrimp Wellington, to the calamari, the food was phenomenal. Place is very difficult to find via GPS if you're not from the area. More signage pointing you the right way would be helpful. Service was actually pretty good, the waitress was attentive and friendly. The view was okay, you can see the ocean but not really the beach. It was windy the day we went so that was kind of a bummer but obviously not the restaurant's fault. They might want to do something about the flies though, if there is anything to do - so many flies around our food and drinks it got really annoying. My wife and I ordered strawberry daiquiris (because vacation lol) and didn't really have much alcohol in them. The food came out and my wife and I both ordered the special, a NY strip steak with garlic butter and fries. Fries were crispy and really good. My steak was ordered medium rare and came out medium (at best). Waitress offered to take it back but I was too hungry to wait longer. Overall I'd say it was just okay. Maybe if I had ordered something different I'd have felt better about the experience, but probably wouldn't try again. read more

Nice raised outdoor deck with an oceanfront view. Located within a private community by their pool. The lot is open to the public after 5 PM. Our servers were kind and gave great food recommendations. We had a nice ocean breeze during our meal. We started with a pound of old bay steamed shrimp. These were fresh and delicious. The shrimp were a nice size too. Everyone enjoyed their cocktails as well. The Sangria was a hit. Several people got the blackened salmon with mashed potatoes and snap peas. The salmon was fresh and moist. No fishy taste. Potatoes were super creamy and the vegetable was fresh. Another person in my party got their crab cakes on their goat cheese salad which they said they enjoyed. Definitely recommend checking this place out. Reservations are recommended. read more

Our 1st visit. Great view but know there is ONLY outdoor seating. If you've never been here before it overlooks a resort/community swimming pool, so there will be lots of chatter & splashing noise nearby. We had Great service but the food was disappointing. The ceviche is actually poké & the crab bisque is very definitely a chunky chowder. That may be nitpicking to some, but when you order ceviche and you order bisque it's quite a different thing to be served, poke & chowder. I had the "signature" crab cake & it was underwhelming. While it was made with a generous amount of crab, It was somewhat dry and needed to have a wedge of lemon served with it to help the somewhat bland flavor but there was no lemon wedge. Their mashed redskins are very flavorful & the evening's veggie was a generous portion of asparagus. Oddly, the black tables are sticky (perhaps from the salt air) & the front edge of the tables left stains on the guys' shirts because they leaned in to eat. My husband and I had dinner here our first night in Corolla. Reservations are necessary as seating is limited due to the pandemic. We chose an 8:00pm time slot so we could watch the sunset over the ocean. The ocean view wasn't perfect, but you could see it in the distance. Our biggest complaint about this experience was trying to locate the restaurant. There were a couple of signs pointing in the direction of the restaurant, but not enough to confidently get you to the parking area without a GPS. Our GPS took us to the exit of the one way parking lot. Once we finally got parked, we had trouble locating the entrance of the parking lot. The restaurant is in the middle of a resort, and we had to walk through closed, gated pool fences to eventually find our way to the top deck where the restaurant was located. It was inconvenient and confusing to locate and exit overall. The restaurant's saving grace was its AMAZING food and friendly, spirited staff. My husband and I combined had the mahi Mahi, crab cakes, and shrimp Wellington which were served with mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. The food was on a new level of deliciousness and I would totally recommend it for a couple's date night. The menu is expensive, but worth the price for the delicious food they prepare here. read more

def make a reservation for sure, but wow this place is great. With it being on a resort and poolside, i thought the food was gonna be overpriced and underwhelming but that was not the case. Got probably the most dense crab cakes of my life, like they do not skimp you whatsoever. Which they better not since it's like 50 bucks for two of em, but honestly so fresh I could say they r the best cakes i've ever had. The drinks were heavy handed, the service was awesome, and the view is stellar. They make their own ranch btw v good. My date got the filet which she said was top 3 best filets she's ever had, I only got one bite of it as she was not keen sharing, and once I tasted it I realized why. Perfectly cooked and juicy. While we were in Corona beach for few days, we found this restaurant in Yelp, and decided to gave it a try. This restaurant is located in the resort community Near swimming pools. It is very secluded area. Despite other yelpers mixed reviews, we wanted to try for ourselves. When looking for a restaurant, I believe Good food, good service is the most important. I do not mind paying little more for good food. we ordered few drinks and oyster & crabcake, Tuna & crabcake. When they brought it, I thought crabcake was corn bread.. tuna steak was sooo well done and hard, it did not look fresh and it was so hard outside and brown... I mean ., I had lot of crabcakes in my life... this one was just so not right.. I couldn't finish.., after $150 for two meals and 2 drinks, and half of food unfinished ..we left. This has been the first sit down restaurant I've been to since lockdown and quarantine began and I'm very pleased with how it turned out. The staff were all wearing masks and seating was outside on the porch. On top of that, the food was delicious and came out to our table promptly. The fish sandwich was my favorite thing our party ordered, the sauce was delicious and the fish was tender and flavorful. The only things I didn't like about my dish was the bun, the hamburger bun wasn't the right shape, and the sandwich would have been better suited for a sturdier bread like a ciabatta. Also, the summer slaw had a bitter aftertaste, but was definitely a good lighter option. The tuna steak was also very good, although it was a little overcooked. The food is good and comes in decently sized portions, including the appetizers which are large enough to share between a family. The prices are a little high for what you get, but what else could you expect from a nice restaurant catering towards tourists. read more

The grill is conveniently located at the beach and we decided to have lunch in the upstairs outdoor area. We were able to get a view of the pool area and the beach which was nice :) I got the popcorn shrimp sandwich with fries. The food came out fairly fast and we all digged in!! I felt like I got a lot of popcorn shrimp for the 10$ I paid for! Seasoning was good on it even though it was awkward eating it with the bun provided (shrimp kept falling out). The shrimp came with a delicious mayo based sauce which was pretty good! The fries were nice and crispy but alittle under seasoned. Overall the meal was okay for a beach side grill. This place is super hard to find even with a GPS. You have to go thru so many twists and turns and the signs are vague. Then you have to go thru fences and up the stairs. The best part about this restaurant is the view. We didn't know we would be seated outside (made a reservation). Normally not a big deal but it was super windy (gale force warning) and my hair was flying everywhere. Luckily I was able to wrap my mask around it to form a ponytail of sorts. We wanted fried oysters and weren't told until ordering that they didn't have any. In fact, they hadn't even ordered any because it was the last night they were open. Ended up getting spiced shrimp and bacon-wrapped scallops. The scallops came with mashed potatoes and green beans. Turns out those are the only sides. Was really hoping to get coleslaw or maybe corn with the shrimp. Some of the scallops were undercooked, but overall they were good. The shrimp were a tad spicy and the cocktail sauce was overly spicy. But I'm not crazy about spice so most people would probably be ok with it. They were a nice size and steamed just right. On June 23rd we loved the ocean view and enjoyed an excellent dinner as we celebrated our anniversary the second year in a row at the Oceanfront Grille. Daphne served up a delicious Crab Cake w/Wine for Cindy, and Cajun Salmon with Whipped Potatoes Edamame for me. We shared a yummy Key Lime Pie. A group of 15 went here last week. We decided upon the oceanfront grille because we were ready for some good seafood and a view of the water to match. This restaurant is on top of a pool deck which initially seems odd, but the view of the ocean is prime. We started with a pitcher of sangria, it was good but you couldn't taste any traces of alcohol. I Would probably skip this next time. The jist here is to pair two seafood items together to create your meal. I started with the she crab soup. It was filled with tons of crab and was a very filling starter, surely not to be missed. For my entrée I paired the steamed shrimp with the teriyaki swordfish on special. Both selection were solid and such a large portion I took most of it home. Service was okay but not memorable. Overall this is a nice dinner choice with a great view! read more

We walked in with a positive attitude we were confused about the parking and the entrance, but no biggie. We sat down and the view was nice... half pool half ocean. We tried to sit back and relax but the sound around us was so overwhelming. I've never heard so much loudness all around me. I can't even describe it. I thought five minutes in I might need a drink to recover from dinner. The waitress was decent. She was cheerful and friendly. We asked for recommendations. She stated to get the crabcake because they were the best, and then also oysters. We got our food and the crabcake that they stated was "the best" and what they were known for was the biggest let down ever. I had a MUCH better crabcake the first night that we were here. The oysters were another story... my fiance started eating them and they had huge hard things in them. He tried to stomach them and he just couldn't do it. He told the waitress and she said she would see about comping it. She came back with our bill and made no mention of the comping or anything. We looked at the bill, nothing. We paid full price for crabcakes that are lacking and oysters that had hard things in it. I will never ever go back and spend my hard earned money there. Anyone that cannot at least compensate their customers for a horrible meal, I cannot appreciate. I understand that things happen... they can't completely control the seafood... but to just eat bad food, I don't think so. Eat there with caution. read more

I've dined at the Oceanfront Grille every beach week for years now. While we always enjoy our dinners at this place - this year was something special! The swordfish was incredible. We always opt for their bacon wrapped scallops (delicious!) and we found a new love for the Corolla crescent appetizer this year too. Had to make reservations for Friday night on Tuesday, but it was 100% worth it calling days ahead! The food and drinks were amazing! If you like corn bread, the hush puppies is amazing! The homemade mashed potatoes were the best I ever had! The servers were the best servers I ever had! Parking is free in the parking lot next to the restaurant after 5pm. We went here on the last day of our vacation in corolla. It was a great way to end the vacation. We had to make reservations since the restaurant is so popular. I would recommend making reservations. The restaurant was in a resort. There was a pool there that you could see from the restaurant but it closed at 7. You got a nice view of the ocean. I feel like you don't see many oceanfront dining, so it was super nice. The restaurant was very kid friendly. The food was delicious. I would definitely come back here! read more

Took my girlfriend to Oceanfront Griller for our anniversary, and it was a great experience. The staff was wonderfully nice, and the view was spectacular. First review post covid opening I assume and we had a great experience. Outdoor seating only and capacity limited so I would imagine that gave kitchen more time to get everything top notch of which they did. First time here but given the location and view I could image this place gets seriously weeded. Grilled halibut special was cooked perfect and with garlic smashed potatoes and asparagus for $24 I though that was very reasonable. Two others at table had crab cake sandwich, one had grilled chix and a kids meal. Everyone very happy with choices. Wait staff was educated on the menu, good wine service and overall professional and right on. Forgot also we had an appetizer of duck bacon/ other stuff in wontons.
