My husband is from Red Creek and has grown up eating here. Needless to say I've been here a fair few times with his family. Most recently, we came in with a large group, about 11 of us. Each and every visit underwhelms me, but this being the only restaurant in Red Creek that isn't a truck stop, I understand why the reviews are good and why people come here. There's no other choice! Let me start by saying that the service really and truly is always fantastic. The waitresses are always on top of everything, quick, and friendly. So why the two stars, you ask? Everything else. 1. The prices are ridiculously high. On the dinner menu, it's a solid $18-19 for every entree. They don't offer things like sandwiches on this menu, which I find silly. For what you get, it's expensive and unnecessary. 2. The soup and salad bar is a joke! It's listed at $12.99 for it as your meal. $13! The dinner entrees all come with it, but to add it to a burger, appetizer, kids meal, etc. it's a whopping $8.99. Really?! They have one soup at a time. The salad bowls are ridiculously small. The bread is half stale. And their salad bar is tiny and without a lot of options. Across the whole menu in gigantic off putting print it states "NO SHARING OF THE SALAD BAR". Don't worry, I didn't want to. 3. I never enjoy my meal. I most recently tried to the chicken amaretto. The first few bites were good, but it became so sickeningly sweet that I made it about a quarter of the way in and couldn't stomach any more. Thank goodness for the side of overdone French fries it came with! My husband offered to trade entrees with me, he had the chicken French. One bite of that and honestly almost vomited. The sauce was so sour. I'm not sure if it was the white wine that was funny, bad lemons, bad ingredients, or if it was that mouth couldn't handle going from the ultra sweet chicken to ultra sour, but I could not do it. I left hungry, and paid $19 for my entree. This is not my first choice and never will be, but like I said I get that it is the only place around. read more

Came across this restaurant on our way home from Chimney Bluffs on Lake Ontario. The little soup and salad bar was excellent, with lots of fixings. Could have eaten it all night. We ordered the broiled 1/2 scallops and 1/2 shrimp scampi entree and the Yeungling battered fish entree. Well the portions are huge and well presented. The shrimp and scallops were excellent. The fish was very good too, but the beer batter was a bit too thick with breading the service was excellent and the staff was very accommodating. Good choice tonight. read more

We have been coming to The Cottage Inn for close to 20 years, and it is a great family friendly place. We come here about once a week on average! It is family owned and operated and they are onsite and cooking everyday. We have had probably everything on the menu, the food is consistently good, with a good portion/price ratio. They have unique specials every night and the oil and garlic pasta is the best I've ever had. I specifically order the oil and garlic pasta as a side at every restaurant we go to that has it, just to see if it compares - no one has ever done a better job than The Cottage Inn. read more

There are not many places to choose from in the area, so this little place has no ambiance and very little competition. I ordered a pork chop ($12.95) & my husband had Fettuccine Alfredo (15.95). Both included the rather limited salad bar and tomato soup. The pork chop was extremely thick, and so tough that I couldn't eat it. So, I sent it back and suggested that they charge me just for the salad bar. Imagine my surprise to learn that they charge $10.95 for the salad bar! No wonder the chop was an inferior quality if it was only worth $2.00! My husband said his Fettuccine was just okay. The restaurant has nothing to recommend, in our opinion, except for dessert. We ordered pie and both selections were very good. read more

The people who are giving bad reviews must be used to places where the "chefs" take the pre-packaged food out of the freezer, put it in the microwave, and slap it on a plate. The Cottage Inn is what a restaurant SHOULD be. Fresh, made to order food prepared perfectly. The chef/owner is a CIA grad. I found this out when I asked what the chef's credentials were, as it was obvious whoever was in the kitchen knew how to actually COOK, not just heat things up. My family owned a restaurant for years, and we were very similar to this place in how we prepared and presented food. Service was very friendly and efficient.The prices are right out of the 80s. Even with one drink, tax and a generous tip, we barely broke $50. We live almost an hour away, but we will make it a point to return here often, bring our friends, and recommend it to all. Have eaten here for the last time, never again-food is hit or miss for the most part, sides are usually cold. My LAST meal was fried fish and mashed potatoes, both were cold, asked to have them warmed up and waitress came back in 30 seconds with my plate of cold food not warmed up. I didn't eat any of it, hostess asked how the food was, I said cold and she saw I had pushed my plate away and eaten none of it. I was still charged. Waitresses are not friendly and act pissy (like I bothered her asking her for warm food) and never ask if you'd like more to drink (Waitressing 101 - larger the check, larger the tip). Fettucine Alfredo is $15, for pasta and cream sauce (not even chicken in it), it seems excessive. read more

Not a pizza place like Google suggests! As much as I love pizza it wouldn't be what I would have ordered anyways! This small business on a random corner offered way more than you would think by appearances! The bartender was polite, witty and attentive with many drink suggestions. The menu had everything from pizza logs to chicken french to scallops with an AMAZING salad bar! Great find for a random ride home from the NYS Fair! read more

The best chicken parmesan in the whole world! It always feels like home and you always leave the place with a new friend.

From the outside, you might drive by this plain white building before you notice it, but it's a wonderful restaurant. Very clean and neat. The food is delicious and of generous portion (I ordered one pork chop and it was HUGE- to my surprise it was actually double or triple-width!!) The salad is great, the bread good tasting. The staff is super- the waitress and greeter were really, really nice and each stopped over to talk to us about our day. Lots of people apparently know this is a great place too and if you plan on eating there at prime time, you might want to call for a reservation. read more

Even without much competition, this restaurant is consistently great! Homemade, great tasting soups and desserts every day (that they're open), which is above and beyond the always good entrees and specials. It's always clean and they're always friendly. Because of the reasons I just listed, my husband and I eat there at least once a week. read more
