If I can give this sh*thole negative stars I would. We stayed in the Buttonwood Cottage for a bachelorette party and our experience was literally awful. On our second night there, a roach the size of a bunny rabbit was found crawling on the wall in the brides bedroom. We were immediately disgusted. Later that night, an additional four roaches were found. One in the kitchen, which was killed. One in the living room, which was also killed under magazines. And two under the bed in the brides bedroom, one alive and one dead. We immediately got in touch with the property manager Misty, but due to the late hours, we did not hear back until the next morning. Misty was informed of the disgusting situation and advised us that this same cottage has had a roach problem in the past. She told us she would contact the owner who was currently traveling, and in order for an exterminator to come spray, the cottage had to be emptied. We informed Misty we will be out all day on a boat and provided her with numerous phone numbers for her to contact with an update. She never called or followed up with anyone. We also told her that we would like to be moved, or quite honestly just leave and stay at a hotel. That night, a sixth roach was found. That was honestly the breaking point. Hotels were booked and ubers were called and we left there by 11:30 PM. We told Misty what was going on and wanted to come to an agreement of some sort of refund. Instead of responding to our calls and emails, they decided to charge us a $75 fee for "trashing" the cottage. We left in a hurry, and unopened food items were left behind. However, anything that was opened was disposed of and all the decorations were taken down. We were refunded the $75 and one nights stay, which quite honestly is not acceptable. The cottage was not livable. Not only were there 6 roaches, there were flies EVERYWHERE. Being married to an exterminator, I can honestly say that this cottage has a huge issue that is not being properly taken care of. We found multiple holes under the bed that lead to outside which is clearly where some of the roaches are coming from. Not only did we barely get responses from Misty, the owner, or booking.com, Misty also accused us of lying, putting rubber roaches all over the house, and disconnecting the WiFi. We had no idea the cottage even had WiFi and Misty admitted to not checking the cottage after the cleaning service left. Do not stay here. This place is disgusting and has a serious moisture problem. read more

The hotel is fairly nice but the owners are scary and crazy. Beware!!! The beds are comfortable and linens are nice as well as the furnishings but the floor is very dirty. They have an electrical issue where the power flashes when the air conditioning comes on. I think it could actually be a fire hazard but I don't know. The Cottages at Siesta Key are owned by a couple and they may live at the cottages because you see them frequently and they are prepared to tell you if you are doing something they believe is wrong. We booked the house on the property through VRBO but prior to booking talked with the owner (wife) about parking because there was going to be 8 of us and the house only comes with three spots. She explained on the phone that parking would not be a problem and there would be plenty of spaces. This was not the case and she claims she never said that. When we were checking out the owners were yelling at multiple guests about parking in too many spaces. I went to the office and mentioned to the owners that while we liked the facility the customer service was poor and they should not yell at guests. The husband became belligerent and crazy and started yelling at me while saying I was yelling at his wife. Which I was not. In the end, the husband grabbed (man handled) me by my shoulders and pulled me out of there office yelling at me and telling everyone to get off the property immediately or he was calling the police. They had already called tow trucks to remove our cars. I would have called the police about him assaulting me but I just wanted to get out of there. The owners are nuts and lie to the guests. We rent out our home during the Masters golf tournament every year, and head out of town for a weeks vacation. After ten consecutive years of mountain trips, we decided this year to head back to the beach and the gulf side of Florida that we used to be familiar. After quite a bit of research and reading numerous reviews, I reached out to Tim and Yvonne (managers of The Cottages at Siesta Key). It was one of the best decisions I ever made, as we hit it off immediately and had a rental agreement completed the very same day. We arrived at our destination at night well after the office closed to find that Tim and Yvonne has left our keys on the door along with a nice note and all pertinent instructions. The room was cute and super clean, which was the number one requirement for us. The pool was well maintained, and the beach access was only a very short walk of a couple hundred yards away. They even provided lounge chairs, an umbrella, and even a long handled shelling scoop for our use. We enjoy eating out each evening during our vacations, and there were a number of excellent choices within walking distance or a short drive from The Cottages. We enjoy bird photography, and an awesome state park was only a 30 minute or so drive away. The famed St. Armands Circle and Longboat Key were a comparable drive. In conclusion, we will certainly return to the Cottages at Siesta Key and now consider Tim and Yvonne to be personal friends! read more

After searching for weeks for a place to stay at Siesta Key that 1) allowed pets and 2) didn't make it mandatory to stay for a minimum of one week, I found the Cottages at Siesta Key website. I called Yvonne who was so friendly and courteous, and most importantly, answered my endless questions. We booked the Buttonwood Cottage which is a 3 bedroom, one bath cottage that has a full sized kitchen and living space, for four nights. We arrived on a Sunday around 1pm and checked in. We discovered our A/C wasn't blowing cool air and contacted Yvonne who called a technician to come look at it. I have to admit, I got a little nervous thinking we would end up having to be relocated to another cottage or studio within the complex, especially given that it was a Sunday afternoon. I was thrilled when the technician showed up about a half hour later and had completely fixed the problem within an hour from the initial call to Yvonne. As the Cottages at Siesta Key state, they are not located on the ocean, but they are about 100 yards from the beach path. We walked back and forth about a half dozen times a day with no issues. The Cottages provide beach chairs and even canopies for use at the beach. The area of the beach that the Cottages is by is the south side of Siesta Key, just north of Point of Rocks. The water was absolutely gorgeous and I liked how close we were to Point of Rocks. The complex has a full sized washer and dryer for the guests to use and a ginormous pool area with a gas BBQ grill and outdoor kitchen. The beds in the cottage were comfortable and there was more than enough closet and dresser space for clothing. Yvonne and Tim's hospitality is like no other place. They make you feel like you are at home and take care of their guests. I look forward to going back again next year! read more

Really enjoyed our stay. The unit was clean and cozy. The bed was super comfortable and we especially loved that it was just a short walk to the beach. They had all of the amenities that we needed and checking in and out was a breeze. The only thing that I would have liked would have been more information in the room about the local area. Restaurants, shopping, beach accessibility, that sort of thing. I know most of us use technology to find that info, but some hard copy information would have been helpful. All in all, a great stay. Newly remodeled, nice pool, a few blocks from the beach, and in a quiet area of Siesta Key. This is definitely a good location if you don't want a lot of noise or night life near you. We were in Foxtail Cottage which had its own private upstairs deck. For a one bedroom, it had a lot of space. We saved a lot of money making our own meals in the kitchen. The only thing I would do differently next time is make sure we have a wagon or a cart to carry our stuff out to the beach. It's a bit of a walk to the beach and carrying everything in the heat along with our toddler was quite a task! We will be back! read more

I will keep this short and sweet because I want all travelers to read this review! I am an avid traveler and only write reviews if the accommodations AWESOME or** falsely advertised. Myself and a group of friends recently stayed at the Buttonwood Cottage, at The Cottages on Point of Rocks Road in Siesta Key. The trip was a bachelorette party for my sister. We booked the cottage for three nights. Unfortunately on the second night of our stay, we discovered cockroaches in the master bedroom (where my sister was sleeping). We tried calling the front office, but it was overnight, therefore no one was available to assist. The front desk representative (Misty) is only available for 4-5 hours each day. When she arrived at work at the next day (10AM on a Saturday), we spoke with her immediately and advised we had to relocate to a different hotel, given our group size. We asked her to please contact the Cottage owner and request a refund for our last two nights. Misty advised us that the owner was "traveling" but that she was working on getting in contact with him. The group had plans to spend the last day on a boat. I let Misty know this information and asked her to please contact the phone number on file once she had spoken with the owner. We returned to the cottage around 5PM. No one contacted us. We decided to see if we'd be able to sleep the 8 guests in the living and other two rooms. As we started to get settled into bed, a sixth cockroach was located under the living room bed. Once again, there was no front desk representative available to assist us. We were forced to go back to our original plan, pack our bags and relocate to a different hotel. I decided to reach out to The Cottages in hopes of coming to an understanding where our last two nights were refunded for the roach infestation. Unfortunately the Cottage representative (Misty) is claiming that we are not being truthful. She changed her story and told her boss a different order of events. As you can see from the photos, cockroaches were clearly found (and squished). If you are looking for a bargain hotel and don't mind bugs, this is the place to you. Unfortunately our trip was ruined due a falsely advertised "clean" and affordable beach bungalow and uncompromisable owner. Stay at your own risk. read more

Nice house but not worth the money for a weekly rental ($4,000). Barely any amenities provided. Had to buy our own supplies. Maintenance man was rude when we asked about trash pick up-also was not wearing a mask as he went in and out of properties on Bochi Circle homes. Also ants were everywhere!!!! Night stands, kitchen counters, bathrooms, everywhere! The entire week. Also have to pay cleaning fee but are told on check out to strip beds and towels and run in washer yourself. Would not recommend and will not be renting from here next time!!! read more

Cannot recommend this place enough...we were here for a family celebration, and the owners did an amazing job of accommodating all of our needs- from covering out tracks to surprise my in-laws for an anniversary surprise, to giving us an umbrella while it was raining, to making recommendations and to accommodating to last minute changes and reservations. The rooms (we had 2) were very comfortable- we really felt like we were at a home away from home with a beach just a short walk away. Went there for dinner forgetting it was high season and the start of Spring Break. Traffic was heavy but parking was a breeze due to their valet parking. There was a 30 minute wait to be seated in the outdoor garden. We ordered drinks at the bar (an electric lemonade and a pineapple infused vodka) both were delicious and a good sized pour. The garden is on the smaller size with numerous tables but doesn't feel cramped. We ordered the calamari appetizer which was lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. The 2 accompanied dipping sauces were excellent. My husband likes to ask the waiter/waitress for recommendations. Our waitress Jesika, gave her recommendations with excellent, spot on descriptions of her favorites (on top of being attentive but not pushy and energetic but not obnoxious). My husband ordered the Tuscan short ribs which were perfectly cooked and flavorful. I ordered the lobster maki roll and couldn't have been happier with my choice! Both meals were of large portions. We loved and throughly enjoyed our visit and can't wait to return. read more

We are a family of 5 who stayed at Elderberry Cottage from 12/18-12/21/16. When we arrived, we found everything very clean and well-organized. We liked having the nice kitchen available to fix some snacks. We went over to talk with Yvonne and enjoyed her warm Southern hospitality. She mentioned it was not really busy in the couple of days right before Christmas, and would we like to use Coriander Cottage as well? Thanks to her generosity we did! Coriander Cottage is right next to Elderberry so my husband and I used Coriander while are 2 college-aged boys and our daughter had plenty of room in Elderberry. The day we got there, it was bright & sunshiney so we headed down to the beach--Siesta Key Beach and I enjoyed reading and watching the waves, while my kids played in the waves and searched for sea shells. It was a great way to spend the time and made us forget the cold weather back home. I don't even know where to start about this place! Everything was beautiful and everything my friends and I could have hoped for! We had rented out two cottages (Elderberry and Wild Plum) for a bachelorette party and this place was just awesome. The units were so clean and spacious and the beds were so comfortable. The owners of the property were very kind and accommodating even if we may have been a little loud at times :) The whole compound is very serene and peaceful and the pool is AMAZING! Everyone in our party could not speak more highly of this place. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to rent a place down in Siesta Key. It was a bit far from the famous Siesta Key beach but the beach that was within walking distance was just as beautiful and less crowded. The walk to the beach was less than five minutes and we loved it there- the water was bath water warm and a crystal turquoise color. I hope to be able to come and stay again some day! We rented the Buttonwood and Horsemint cottages! They were a great combination with a big deck in the front and the the adjoining Horsemint cottage opening up to the pool! We had a great time and the staff was AWESOME! The beach is beautiful and just a short walk from the cottages. Very quiet compared to the main Siesta Beach and equally beautiful! The staff provided beach chairs and a wagon to tote all of our stuff to the beach. This is definitely a hidden gem and very reasonable compared to other places in Siesta Key! The cottages were very clean and everything we needed was available. They also have a big propane grill by the pool with tables that was great for grilling! If I could give The Cottages at Siesta Key more than 5 stars I definitely would!! I highly recommend it and will definitely be a return customer!! read more

My husband and I happen to hit on this little gem by accident. We asked for an outdoor table, the hostess sat us in a little terrace area out back. It was so cute! There was a guitar player there and the atmosphere was very Florida Keys. The menu was a little limited but there was something for everyone including children. I ordered the shrimp tempura and a side of risotto w/ truffle oil (delicious) my husband ordered the salmon and was quite happy. We came across the Cottages at Siesta Key by chance on Trip Advisor and booked literally two hours before our arrival. The hosts were incredibly accommodating, particularly given our last minute request and also because we were traveling with two dogs and a toddler. We could not have been more lucky to stumble across this quaint hidden gem! Of all the great qualities, the first we noticed was the overall layout of the property. The entries to the cottages are staggered, so you feel a true sense of privacy as you enter the cottage. Once through the door, we found that the rooms had all just been completely renovated... from the beachy tile floors, to the furniture, living room, kitchen (truly fully stocked with all the amenities you would ever need), bedroom and bath. The decor is warm, welcoming and homey, and far from your typical rough white sheets and white towel hotel experience. With two adults, a toddler and two dogs, we never felt cramped in the 1BR cottage. The pool area was quiet and protected from the breeze, making it a nice place to sit when the beach got a little chilly. Also, the fully stocked kitchen combined with grills available for the guests to use, made it easy and convenient to cook in one night. Venturing out, we found it only a short walk (about a block) to the true white sand beaches of siesta key. The cottages are located in a quiet, fairly residential neighborhood and walking distance to great cafes (toasted mango has great coffee) and anything else you might need. We could not have asked for a better discovery for a quick family escape and more gracious hosts - they clearly put a lot of hard work and love into the property and it shows. Just spent a weekend here and enjoyed it very much. The cottages are newly renovated and nicely appointed. Great place for groups, we were there for a family reunion with about 40 members we had a blast. The cottages all have outside seating and are all close to the pool. The pool is heated and has a cabana with a wet bar. The whole resort is clean and well kept. The beach is an easy 5-minute walk and Sunsets are breathtaking. We had our meals catered by local restaurants and ate by the pool which was great for our group. The management is very friendly and willing to help with group needs. I travel a lot and would find it hard to complain about anything at this resort except the weather which just happened to be a little cooler than I expected for Florida but we still enjoyed the Cottages. Will Stay there again!!! read more

AWESOME place to stay! Both Tim and Yvonne were by far the most gracious, kind, caring folks that we call our friends now. Our 12 year old Springer Spaniel Winston passed away and we had to leave two weeks early. The Cottage was the Mulberry unit and it was clean, the kitchen was stocked with all the right tools we needed, laundry room was great and neighbors we met were very nice. We are moving to Fort Myers and will visit Tim and Yvonne and tell our friends about them and this Awesome Cottage. The location is also great. When we set out to plan our beach wedding on Siesta Key, I kept hitting dead ends. Frustrated, I took a run and literally stumbled upon Tim and Yvonne (property managers). Any question I asked was answered with "yes" or "we'll figure it out." Deciding to take over each of The Cottages and host our rehearsal dinner, wedding reception, and farewell brunch at The Cottages was the easiest decision we made. Yvonne and Tim made the planning process a breeze and greeted each of our friends like they were family. The Cottages have recently been renovated and each have a unique charm. Our friends loved the laid back, comfortable vibe and the fact we "had it all to ourselves." Just down the street to the public beach access (#13), and walking distance from a number of great restaurants/bars, this place has it all. Bonus: we could bring our dog! We will be back and we know our friends likely will, too! Warren (the owner) could not have been nicer and even helped us deflate pool toys before we left.
