Discovered this hidden gem tucked away by Lake Whitney. The small restaurant & ambience will make you feel like you're sitting in grandmas dining room. All the food options are made to order fresh. The chicken fried sandwich TEXAS style with bacon & Swiss & fries was a large fulfilling delicious meal. I would love to go back on a Friday night for the AYCE catfish. Keep in mind that the restaurant is difficult to find and closes at 7pm on Sunday's. read more

We were looking for food in Whitney and I found this place on Yelp. It seemed like we were really going into the middle of nowhere, but once we arrived it had a beautiful view and very friendly staff. We asked what the best thing was and were told catfish so tried that and chicken fried steak with fried okra, hush puppies, French fries and mashed potatoes. My parents got a salad, smothered chicken and a baked potato. We all really enjoyed our food and the rustic but beautiful ambiance. read more

Stopped in here and got food while on vacation. The chicken strips were almost impossible to eat and tasted like fish from the deep fryer. The club sandwich was so salty it was hard to eat. Server was nice though. read more

Came with a dog so I've only seen the outside. What a nice place to stop for lunch while camping! The patio is so wonderful with lot of plants, a fish pond, and seasonal decor! The Cove is not the easiest place to find and really not worth the trouble. I went for breakfast on a Saturday. The place was not crowded. They had one waitress who was not very attentive. She never asked if I needed more coffee and when the food arrived she just put the plate down and walked away. The portion size was good but the food was cold. read more

What a picturesque site looking out over Lake Whitney. A little hard to get to, but well worth the short drive through residential streets. The staff and cook was very friendly. I had the catfish dinner (2-pieces) with fries and a side salad. This plate was two much for me and had to take one-piece of catfish home to enjoy for lunch tomorrow. The wife had chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and she said it was the best she has had in a long time. We both had the fresh peach cobbler for dessert that was fantastic! The Cove Cafe is a cozy place where I met some friends and had some catfish. The fried okra was delish and I did enjoy the catfish. It's BYOB and that was nice as we brought some Texas wine. The atmosphere was good and is exactly what it portrays , a cool little getaway on Lake Whitney. I did meet the owner and was delighted that she asked about things and was attentive to us. I had never of this place but I was in town visiting and thought I would give it a try. I ordered the BLT and my spouse ordered the Patty Melt. Both dishes were very good. Kudos to the cook. Great variety of menu items from catfish to hamburgers. The view of Lake Whitney was beautiful. I gave four stars because the server was not very attentive and we ran out of water. However, I would suggest giving this place a try based on the food. read more

I've been coming here for a few years, Everything on the menu is top notch, you may have to wait a few minutes but it's darn sure worth it. The scenery overlooking the lake is extremely relaxing and the rustic look and feel of this place makes you feel like you've taken a small jump back in time.
