Building a fire on the beach

Well. This is a lead story into sharing our family experience with a week on a houseboat on the lake!!! This motel, is just average and following the write up below and stunning pictures of our truly amazing trip is worth it! So let's get started: Did this trip in 2018. Family consensus then was "the best family adventure ever made!" Time to recreate in late October, 2025 About the boats: Houseboat is 60' x 18'. Two decks. Four staterooms. Two full bathrooms. Luxury kitchen and living quarters. Sleeps up to 12. Ideal for big family or two. Also rented a 21' runabout in order to get to the smaller areas of the Lake. Great idea!! Requirements: This is a "big ass boat" with twin engines and dual throttles. Max speed = 10 knots. I'm an experienced Captain and pilot and have had to deal with a few incidents. It takes a pilot, navigator (me or my Son) to handle this while Mom putts around the kitchen and settles us in. Provisions need to be shopped for prior to boarding. A week's worth of groceries and beverages. Plan ahead. The Marina staff is super in getting you loaded and ready for departure. The staff gives you a 45 minute orientation on how to run the boat. If you're not experienced, rent a smaller boat... lol. Not. Off we went, charts and downloaded app in hand. Talked to the staff about where to end up, heights of the water level, fishing spots, etc. Very helpful and worth the $50 I slid him as a tip for the tips! Boat has self contained generator for nighttime use. Inverters for the days. Don't overpack on clothes... you're on a boat! Not seeing anyone else for a while Take tons of pictures. Our new IPhones worked out great. No internet or TV. We brought along a Starlink as Mom and Son have business activities... worked out great So much more to share, but... DO THIS ONE FOR YOUR FAMILY!! It's a lifetime experience that you will never forget!! Have fun and wonderful memories!

Booked an "upgraded" king room six months in advance and still ended up disappointed from the moment we arrived. Checked in at 11 AM and were told to come back at 2. Returned at 2 to a long reception line, only to be given a room with two queen beds because the king rooms were somehow "sold out." It got worse. We opened the assigned room door and found previous guests inside--completely unacceptable. Turns out reception mixed up the room number. After hauling luggage up to the second floor and back down again, it took three attempts and about 1.5 hours just to get checked in properly. As for the hotel itself: outdated, strong Clorox smell throughout the corridors and room, and visible trash in common areas like the hallway and even the gym. The only redeeming factor is the view of Powell Lake--but it's nowhere near enough to make up for the disorganization and poor conditions.

Such a shame for a resort at a beautiful prime location. We hang out more outside the hotel than the inside. It was a worn off building with horrible rooms. However surprisingly, the garden landscaping and the dining room are awesome. Food is great as well and below typical "resort price". There is where the 2 stars go. The room has a great view since we booked the lake view room, the other side faces the parking lot. Inside the room smells dirty and smoggy, sink and tub looks dirty, I had to wipe everything down. Even at the lobby, we smelled sewer. The corridors that lead to the room also look worn out and moldy. Ceilings were so low that I can almost touch it. I am not tall at all. No elevators and you need to carry your luggage to the second floor. How could a resort look like this?

The Restaurant has great food and great views of Lake Powell. The Staff recommended favorite food items which were truly great choices such as the dry rub fried wings and All-American Burger. Most importantly, the friendly staff at the Restaurant provided us with helpful information about the best spots to visit in Lake Powell area and Glen Canyon & Page AZ. We appreciate her!

Let me start by saying the view from our room was stellar. That's where the pros stop. Our hotel room was filthy and the lack of maintenance was evident. 2 queen beds, seemingly will sleep 4. 2 chairs on a very large patio and no table. There was a toy truck under the bed. There is a platform so it wasn't that far under. If I saw it, why didn't housekeeping? Copper sinks were so gross. There was toothpaste, not mine. No one has cleaned around the sink or faucet in who knows when. A light was out over the sink. There was make up, also not mine on a towel. The towel was refolded to hide it inside. There was a who knows what splatter on the side of the tub, adjacent to the toilet. Something was also splattered on the door to the adjoining room. There is a Keurig coffee pot. I ran just water through it several times because I had no idea how gross it might be. There are no cups in the bathroom, and at the coffee station they are paper. We ended up buying cups in the gift shop and red Solo cups at a store. There is NO elevator to the 2nd floor. There was a wadded up tissue and a Q-tip laying on the steps for FOUR days! The ice machine was filthy! Our ice bucket had no plastic bag in it. Fortunately, I brought zip top bags with me. We didn't request a new room because, frankly the view and our friends were staying in the adjoining room. I ended up cleaning most of it up. We did not request room service, because honestly, what good would it have done? Our friends wanted the room cleaned. They didn't realize you need to call to ask for the service. It's called "overnight service". Honestly, management should be embarrassed. Check your room before you commit!

the only place to eat when we checked in

The place itself is nice enough. It's an older property that's kept up well. It doesn't have the prettiest lake view, as you look at a bunch of houseboats. the people who work here are nice and professional. but this place is severely limited. no room service; too far for any delivery; limited staff; all amenities except the cafe closed either early or for the season. none of that is their fault. but it still stinks from my end. check in time is late (4pm) and they don't easily make exceptions. We had a tour starting at 4 yesterday and asked if we could check in at 330. No was the reply. So we checked in at 830, when almost everything in the property is closed. And you're 15-20 minutes from anything here. Even though I asked for a first floor room in my booking, we got a 2nd floor room with no elevator. my bag was left in the car, and i just took out what i needed. shame on me for overpacking. the cafe place was fine for a late dinner last night. it was the best part of this place. i would not come here again.

Everyone waiting for their room after check-in time. Rooms aren't ready

Currently waiting to check in. It's 4:40 PM apparently no rooms are ready yet. I do not recommend staying here. Finally got in our room at 5:00. We booked a lake view but we given a parking lot view! To top it off, the room was DISGUSTING (see pics). No way was I going to sleep there! Much to my disgust, I was OVER this place. I immediately started looking for another hotel and demand a refund. There were so many unhappy people in the lobby still trying to get checked in. The hotel staff claimed over booked hotel. Seriously trust all the other reviews and save yourself the headache and DO NOT BOOK here. Also the little coffee shop closes at 3:00pm!

Beautiful spot, Rainbow Dining Room and Bar food delicious. The rooms are awful. Flat sheets on the bottom instead of fitted. Always coming off. Sheets don't feel clean and crisp have a slight dirty hair smell. Not enough towels for 2 people 2 days. The towels are rough, ragged on the ends very used grey color. Wash cloth was black stained. No area in the shower/tub to put your stuff. No towel racks in the bathroom. Overall dirty room. The hallway has a nasty dirty smell.

How long for the boat rental deposit refund to be appeared on my card? The staff told me should be 7 days, it's been 7 days already, I still haven't received it.

    7-10 business days.

Do they make espresso and cappuccino?

    Is there a laundry room?

Hi Debra, We have a coin operated laundry room in our RV park that guests can use and we also offer laundry service at the resort.

I would never go back to this place!!! Don't spend your money there! Expensive, considering the service is horrible, slow and bad service at their restaurants, bad food, no answers to phone calls when you call the front desk... they are…

If you're not familiar with Hampton Inn, it's a Hilton property and there's a lot to like. It's not luxury but it's nice and comfortable. There's free parking, free breakfast, and our room was spacious. This particular hotel is in the center of the action, close to all of the main attractions in Page. Though Page is a small town so that's a factor too. It's also a pet-friendly hotel and one of the few in Page. Checkout is at 11 a.m. but they granted me a late checkout at noon. I'm not a morning person so the extra time helped. I didn't run into any issues on my visit. I would return. It was just what I needed for a Saturday in Page.

We've stayed at the Hampton Inn before and automatically this was our first choice. The place was easy to find, with plenty of parking. There is diamond member only parking, and regular parking as well as a lovely pull up area if you need to unload. Two different options available for bringing in your luggage is right inside the doors and they could also be used to be carrying out your items. Please note that there are signs near the entrance to say not to smoke with a certain distance. The staff were kind and helpful, immediately greeting us when we came in. We had the same woman on the desk the entire trip, and she was very simple and supportive. Right next to the check-in lobby, to the right of it is a snack shop in case you need any. Again no vegan options or health conscious items. Check-in was simple and it was interesting to navigate the online prices versus the prices in person. Not much of a difference, but still some and they alter per day and season. The process was quick and easy. We got a room on the fourth floor and it had a really great view. It felt easy to get to the top and our room. The room was clean and ready, they came daily to switch things out and offer service. A few amenities available for toiletries and coffee in the room along with tv and WiFi. The beds are comfy and firm. The pillows are feather so they deflate quickly. We couldn't get a single outlet on the night stand or near the tv stand to work. Breakfast is included in the stay offering eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles, bagels, muffins, cereal, toast, oatmeal, yogurt, drinks and condiments. You get to make the waffles yourself! Only vegan options were bread and butter. No non dairy milks offered. So heads up on that. I did try a few things and just to be honest, I didn't like the eggs, sausage, potatoes or oatmeal because they were too soggy. The eggs, potatoes and sausage are kept in a heater (understandably so) but however it's cooked in combo with the consistent steaming, they become very moist and unpleasant in texture. The eggs were in some water at the base. I'm sure for some people this is fine but also for many it's makes the food inedible.. which defeats free breakfast. Including having more vegan / planted based / non dairy options. The oatmeal was very slimy. I did enjoy toast with butter and jam, waffles and after dabbing the sausage dry, that too. The coffee was good, again no non dairy options for milk. Juices are good too, they aren't fresh or real.. combo of ingredients. Plenty of condiments were available. It was a nice set up. The staff maintained the space entirely. The hot tub and pool were great. A heated pool and the hot tub was near a large door that opens so the cool air came in as we sat in the hot water. It's located super close to food, INCREDIBLE LANDSCAPES and gas.
