I have bought product off The Crab Place's website and know the quality of product and Service to be outstanding. This past weekend, I had the opportunity to participate in their Classic Rock Crab & Cruise! The whole event was 1st class & professional. We were greeted with a smile & a photo by the owner (Greg) and his team who had our reservation handy, got us to our table quickly which was was well equipped to handle four well seasoned pickers. If you are not a expert crab picker...no worries...instruction on picking crab is available from Hazel (Chrisfields Champion Crab Picker.) The crabs followed the delivery of ice cold beer & they were perfectly steamed, seasoned & heavy. While the Crabs were absolutely the star, the BBQ'ed ribs were outstanding & provided some relief for sore fingers. Expertly prepared, brightly sauced & fall off the bone! Incredibly good! I think I heard that the pitmaster has won some grilling awards & tasting his work 1st hand...I believe it! WOW! The event was emceed by Flee (think of Flee as Gregs 1st mate) and he kept things moving with witty comments to draw out the most introverted pickers. As the expediter, he was constantly working the room, making sure that everyone had all they needed. He offered a wealth of information on the great legacy of Chrisfield, MD & Tangeres Island. Nice work Flee! Two hrs was more than enough to eat our fill & prepare for the 2nd part of our experience. As the cruise is BYOB, we had our cooler prepped and after a short walk arrived at the boat....ehh...ship! There were about 100 cruisers on board. With plenty of room to socialize, make new friends & dance, we set off for Tangeres Island. The cruse lasted 3 hrs & the captain positioned us with a perfect view of an incredible sunset. The logistics behind running an operations like the Crab Place.com are clearly Non-trivial, but the team at The Crab Place.com make it look effortless. It is clear to see why they have grown into a leader in this space. Greg, Matt, Flee, Hazel & Anabelle (our Server) run a tight ship & are truly focused on providing a world class blue crab experience. The quality of the seafood from The Crab Place is good. But, unless you want UPS to "cook" your seafood for you, don't use two-day shipping. I ordered FROZEN items from The Crab Place and from Maryland to Indiana two day shipping the package arrived "hot" to the touch. EVERYTHING inside was ROOM temperature including the ice packs!. When I called to inform them about the issue I was told. "It's fine that your seafood defrosted and it's warm to the touch just each all five lbs of it tonight or "re-freeze" the items you don't want to cook. Lady are you crazy? Who in their right mind either a. eats five pounds of seafood in one sitting for two people or b. REFREEZES defrosted, room temperature SEAFOOD. Again, the product quality is relatively good but the two-day delivery is an inside joke between The Crab Place and UPS and the customer service SUCKS. read more

Since moving from Maryland to Atlanta, we frequently crave for crabs and The Crab Place has been our goto source. The crabs that ordered for Memorial Day were great, so we decided to order again for the 4th of July. It's a good thing that we didn't plan to entertain guests because the crabs were not good at all. We ordered large male crabs, yet they were standard or small and Only a few were large. Even worse were the jumbo snow crabs, which were hollow and difficult to crack. We had to throw away the snow crabs and hope we can salvage a few of the blue crabs. Needless to say, we are extremely disappointed this time. read more

This is my first time trying the crab place.com. I placed an order for 6 of t he jumbo colossal male crabs. The following morning I was informed that they may not get any colossal male hard crabs in that. They offered premium large male crabs as a replacement and offered to send extra crabs to make up for the size/price difference. 6 for 73.49 vs 12 for 76.25. The good thing is they didn't change the price in the system only updated the description so no changes to my card or account. They arrived to my door step around 2:30 ish on Saturday. The packaging was alot different from other places I have ordered from online. Typically they are tightly wrapped in a brown bag and sealed. Inside were 3 ice pads that were completely thawed ontop of parchment paper. When you picked up the paper the crabs were thrown around which I am sure occurred during transit since the crabs were not tightly packaged inside. Below them were 3 additional thawed out ice bags. They crabs were not warm nor room temperature but cool to the touch which was good.. They did say they would throw in extra crabs to make up for the price and size difference. They threw in an extra crab but not crabs for a total of 13. Of the 13 6 were heavy while the others were on a lighter side. I steamed 4 heavy and 2 light and you could tell the difference regarding the content inside the shell. I had to Google and apparently this season ends mid December which may account for the weight and not being able to obtain any colossal male crabs. The flavor of the crabs were not bad and I have 7 in the freezer to eat at a later date. I don't think I will order from them again but it was worth trying. Went to crab and cruise this weekend. The set up is perfect, music selections good, service friendly, and food kept coming. Crabs were good size food was cooked well. I didn't think 2 hours would be enough however we were done eating in a hour. We sat and waited for dessert which was a tiny piece of cake and not unlimited very disappointing. The Cruise was nice even with the rain halfway through.We were docked most of the time the dj was good,environment was awesome, and the views especially with the storm clouds amazing. Parking at the cruise is tight and you can not leave till people around you leave be mindful of that when deciding to walk or drive. There is parking other places close by as well. We did the fireworks cruise and this was an added bonus great view of the fireworks. I rated it a 4 because they did not have hush puppies the day I went which is something I enjoy alot. They also gave us a tiny tiny piece of cake and it was one slice per person they said they had a shortage on cake that is terrible it's all you can eat and with the cake being the only dessert this was very disappointing. All in all I would go back however I really would like more than one baby slice of cake. read more

We came in around 3 on a saturday afternoon and there was only one other table there. I was a little scared about the emptiness for a saturday afternoon in summer, but i guess crisfield doesn't ever really get crowded. At first we were a little dismayed to find they were only offering things from the menu that were "in the boxes" which was a pretty small subset of the already pretty small menu. Luckily, everything we were interested in (hard crabs, steamed shrimp, crab dip, corn on the cob and cold beer) was available and we placed our order. The food came out quickly and the beer was nice and cold. Not much more to say about this experience than: HOLY FRESH CHESAPEAKE CRABS!!! At $32 a dozen, the "selects" (5.5in) were an amazing deal. Not a single speck of suspicious black coloring (*cough*BP*oil*spill*cough) anywhere on any of our crabs. Really moist and flavorful meat. Perfectly cooked. Not a single crab came out dry or filled with water. These really really rank high up there among the best blue crabs i've ever eaten. Almost everything we could want to have with our crabs and shrimp was already at the table (vinegar, butter, cocktail sauce) but we did have to ask for a side of crab seasoning. There was a somewhat unfortunate swarm of flies that pestered us throughout the meal despite being inside but i'm willing to explain it by the fact that we were the only ones eating crabs and the lone target for the wandering swarm. The dip and shrimp and corn were all really good but unfortunately for them played Scottie Pippen to the delicious Michael Jordan that were the incredible steamed crabs. The things that hold The Crab Place back from getting 5 stars are as follows: -Small menu (not everyone loves blue crabs and it can be hard to drag people to crabhouses without many other options) -Hot and sticky despite sitting indoors -Rampant fly population We drove by later at night (around 11:30) and the place was JUMPING with some... loud sounding live music pouring out. If I find myself in Crisfield again, i'll be back for more crabs. read more

I have been ordering from The Crab Place for 25 plus years. There product has always been amazing with fantastic customer service. Here comes the but. This past year my order was scheduled for a Friday delivery by 7:00pm. UPS came to my house at 5:24 and delivered two packages never touching the ring door bell and went back to truck and stayed for a while. I was then given an update that the package was refused by client. Not true, with video proof. The story then changed to the package was damaged and leaking a chemical and undeliverable. This status changed after being told that the driver would return with the package for signature, which was never needed. If you have ever seen how The Crab Place packages the crabs, you would understand that it would take a large puncture to the container. The container is also not containing any heavy amounts of water, if any. It's Maryland Crab which is steamed, not Louisiana crab, which is boiled. I can continue with documentation of multiple calls to UPS management with continued promises of return calls and quotes such as "driver actions not consistent with UPS policy", "mixed messages, poor communication". After requesting documentation on the disposal of the crabs, I was told no pictures of the box damage are available, Humm? UPS found the investigation to be a valid claim and I'm getting my refund. That's the Crab Place not UPS stepping up for the client. What's even more interesting is an email from UPS claim department saying the package is being reschedule for delivery Monday Nov 15, 2021. The email is dated Monday Nov 15th, 2021 at 9:27am. This after I was told the package has been destroyed, with no pictures of damage. This review is to just make sure customers have a back up plan for ordering. The Birthday celebration/Crab Feast was cancelled. Thanks UPS. I have requested that The Crab Place consider changing back to FedEx, but I'm sure I'm just in the small percentage of issues. It's more the problems with UPS's poor communication, changing of stories, shell story of an investigation and a canned I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I will continue to order from The Crab Place, but I will also continue to ask to have FedEx ship my packages. Happy pickin, if UPS delivers. read more

Had a friend on face book liked and shared the event for the June 13th 2015 Crab & Cruise and we took a chance on it for our anniversary dinner and it was a blast. Staff was great, food was plentiful, ice cold beer and Orange crushes and the boat ride to Tanger Island with live country music and good company topped the night off. As a born and bred Marylander who's now transplanted in the desert southwest, The Crab Place provides my hometown favorite food... right to my door. I've been hosting a crab feast at my house every year and every order has been perfect. You can pick the exact size, quantity and spice level. They're cooked to perfection and FedExed to your door. I did see some negative reviews here and I'm not sure they're valid complaints.... looks more like someone aligned with a competitor trying to besmirch The Crab Place's reputation. I just did my most recent order last week (1/2 bushel of Jumbo's) and they included several Colossal sized crabs as well. I grew up on the Eastern Shore and I know crabs. Long ago I moved to Texas and I can tell you that Blue Crabs out of Louisiana are not the same as Maryland. I've never seen a bigger pincher then from a Maryland crab. Unfortunately, if you can even find a crab in Texas it's not from Maryland. That's where The Crab Place comes in. I've used them for several years and I recently joined their discount mailing program. I'm able to get fantastic Maryland crabs in Texas. Quality has always been terrific. But keep in mind that this is a limited natural resource; don't think you're going to get the biggest best crabs on July 4th as you've got a lot of competition and it may be me! Since I moved away from Dc to TX I've ordered crab from here every month. They arrive almost frozen and once heated are delicious. Their customer service is awesome! On the few occasions they didn't have what I was looking (colossal male) for they promptly reached out to me to try and offer me other option (usually large male or female). They are always polite and apologetic and they even throw in some additional crabs! Wont be going anywhere else for crab. read more

Crabs "colossal" were very disappointing and I was offered half off next order but there's not a method to process, NO COUPON provided just a "mention the discount when ordering" there's no method to do that TRUST ME. Stopped in to see if this was where the action was in Crisfield! Well, it was, I guess. Live music was a nice touch, beers were relatively cheap too. We were a party of 6 and decided to sit and eat. Dining area (and bar) are very spacious and open, lots of air circulation in the screened in patio setting. Fun atmoshphere to eat a casual seafood meal. Steamed shrimp (VERY GOOD) Crab Dip (GOOD, creamy and cheesy topped), Chicken wings (meh, flabby and not crispy, bordering on undercooked, Hot Sauce not that hot), Soft Crab Sandwich (Very tasty, nice size and fresh) Sides were up and down. The fries were undercooked though looked fresh cut. Onion rings were ok, though appeared to be of the frozen variety. Not really worthy of an Extra side, but if you want to get them as choice of side with meal, would be ok. Hush puppies were good though a bit dense. I enjoyed the sweet flavor but some found them too sweet and not worth choking down. Final note, crabs not a bad deal, $1 per crab for standard size, which were meaty and heavy enough. Upgrade to larger sizes ups price to about $3 or $4 per crab depending on size. In any case, would definitely go back. read more

I ordered two dozen colossal crabs for Memorial Day a Weekend. I had Them shipped to my house them shipped to my house. They arrived in excellent condition. I ordered the medium seasoning and they were seasoned just right. The crabs were pretty good considering the fact that I don't really care for the male crabs, but no one is really selling females. My only complaint would be that I am convinced that several of them were just jumbos and not colossals. Because of that, I did feel just a little cheated. Would I order from them again? From the start, our service was flawless and friendly. Adding to the order was a breeze and even though I had 2.5 bushels sent all the way to Phoenix in the midst of a heatwave with temperatures hitting over 120 degrees; the crabs arrived cold, and in perfect condition. Having spent 30+ years in Maryland, we ate a lot of blue crabs from the Chesapeake and nothing compares. For my dad, he rarely eats them, because they're too much work for the little meat you get from the average size crabs you get. That's why I ordered a half bushel of JUMBO cooked crabs from the website as a birthday gift for my father in Florida. Matt contacted me by email to let me know that due to inclement weather conditions they would not be able to make the original ship date for the premium size crabs I wanted and offered to substitute smaller crabs and refund the difference, which I declined. He continued to communicate the status of the jumbo crabs. It took another two days, but the jumbos became available and finally shipped. When they arrived, my parents were shocked at how huge they were. Not only that, they were heavy, meaty, and the most delicious crabs they could remember eating. My mother told me that's the only gift she would want from now on! I will definitely be ordering from them again: great product, great service, great communication. As a side note, I would NEVER order live blue crabs to be shipped due their fragile nature. Even when I buy bushels locally, by the time they get home, there are always a number of dead ones. read more

I was skeptical in ordering due to the heat and having my product delivered to California. This company emailed me assuring my product would arrive to me in great quality. I received my order of steamed crabs and the gel packs were depleted, warm liquid along with the crabs having a very strong odor and being warm. I contacted this company with the issue and was told I could still consume these crabs they are safe. I'm sorry spoiled seafood is not something you should insist to a customer to consume. I requested a refund and was denied. This company did nothing to rectify this unfortunate issue. I am very upset to have spent $200 to have to throw this product away. read more
