One of the best seafood restaurants in Reedville Virginia. We often go here as we have our vacation house in Reedville. This place is 5 mins drive or 30 mins boat ride from our house. Well, one thing you need to know about Reedville is that they cash this stinky fish called menhaden which is used for omega oil. When the fisherman catch this fish, the entire town stinks. You may mistake it to come from this restaurant if you're visiting for the first time. That's not true. Restaurant is absolutely nice and service is great. I recommend crab cakes stuffed in flounder as one of the must try entrees here. Especially in the summer when crabs are so fresh. Shrimp and grits are delicious as well. They have some amazing sides to choose from. Onion rings, hush puppies, and rice are my go to sides. Ambiance is nice. There have outdoor seating on a nice day. Plenty of spots to park. It gets crowded on Friday night and Saturday night. I recommend calling them in advance and making reservations. read more

This little Restaurant is literally located at the very end of State Route 360 in Reedville. It is right on the water in the middle of what is clearly a working fishing village as you can see the work boats all around you. We were out, just sort of poking around and decided to drive all the way to Reedville, and then upon arriving decided to eat at this restaurant. The lunch was delicious. The soup was great, the fried fish was fantastic, and my wife had a really impressive wedge salad with oysters. Service is very friendly and for a lunch stop I would say this is about as good as it gets. The only reason why I am giving it four stars instead of five is something I discovered on my bill after we had eaten. They charge a 3.5% fee for using a credit card. Not that it is a big deal, but in this day and age where literally everybody is using plastic, why not just build that cost into your menu so that it's not hanging out there After you've already ordered and eaten. My family seems to enjoy this restaurant very much. It's extremely relaxed atmosphere with a good home style feel. The food is very enjoyable with a lot of local catch available. I enjoy the fried green tomatoes, the fried oysters that are locally caught and their Crazy Crab Bisque that is full of fresh crabmeat. The owner's are, Mr. & Mrs. Williams, very wonderful people. They walk around the restaurant checking on the customers, have a conversation, and thanking everyone for coming into their restaurant. I just came back home after having a wonderful lunch. It is such a pretty day I regret not sitting outside, but inside it was air conditioned - not too cool, but just right - the way they do just about everything there. The Crazy Crab is a casual dining, high quality, dockside seafood restaurant located at the very end of Rt. 360. It's at the point where you've either got to park, turn around or go swimming. I had a rockfish sandwich and told Mr. Williams, the owner, "Sir, THAT is what a rockfish sandwich is supposed to be!" Served hot, it had a nice, big, thick slab of perfectly fried rockfish along with lettuce, tomato and really good, lean bacon. I had fries on the side. I thought it was a dollar or two high at $16, but it was a great sandwich. The place was about 3/4 full, but there was plenty of motivated, smiling, efficient servers scurrying around under the watchful eyes of Mr. and Mrs. Williams. Other restaurant owners should take note: not only are the Williams' there, but they come around to every table to make sure things are right and shoot the breeze. While I was there, someone was celebrating a birthday, so the whole staff came to the table and sang a Crazy Crab happy birthday song. They can be quite busy, I've seen the line going out the door. Excellent service and food. Great location on the water, the atmosphere was fun. The sunset over the creek was wonderful. Had the local mackerel, locally caught by the local waterman. Then the owner came by with some just off the boat bluefish. I had no idea I liked bluefish. Was told it's something to do with size and water conditions, which apparently were right that afternoon. My friend ordered the Crazy Stuffed Jumbo Shrimp and Butter Beans. I had to have their Crab Cake Mate (single) with fries and super slaw. Dessert? Umm, yes please! Lemon Layer Cake ala mode with Coffee. Sumptuous to the palate! Even though we dined at a not-so-busy time - the waitress was sweet, kind and attentive. This place is an outstanding Chesapeake Bay seafood restaurant. Six of us come in by boat for lunch., Owner is fixing light fixture. How is that for owner involvement, We are early, dock the boat for lunch go inside, welcomed, the standard inside/outside. we go out side. We are immediately greeted and drink orders taken, menus handed out. Drinks come in minutes, ordered 6 apps to share,Oysters, Calamari, Green Tomatoes, and crab dip. Out they come, all delicious . Lunch comes out. Shrimp Tacos, Crab cake sandwich shrimp basket and more oysters, Everything was great, not to mention the Orange Crushes. I wanted to really like this place after hearing rave reviews from locals. We ordered for pick-up as we weren't ready to dine in just yet. When we arrived, there were about 30 people in groups waiting outside for a table, so I had high expectations. The food smelled incredible on our drive home, but sadly, it wasn't the mind-blowing experience I was promised. The crab dip was ok, a little on the watery side, which was surprising seeing as though the area is known for crabs. I ordered the Captains Platter (broiled). Everything was bland and the crab cakes were mediocre (frozen ones I found at the local Food Lion were better), which was a disappointment. Maybe I didn't order the right thing, perhaps I should've gotten it fried, and maybe it would've been better dining in rather than take out. I really do like this place but the consistency is off. I thought the stuffed flounder was just ok the second time and delish the first. We waited about 20 minutes which wasn't a big deal drinks were good. Definitely short staffed. The waitress was okay. I wouldn't get the captains platter again. Wasn't worth the money at all. Ate here over Memorial Day weekend. Ordered the crab dip as a starter. It was delicious! Creamy, flavorful, and LOTS of sweet crab! As an entree I ordered the clam linguine and although I expected clams in the shell over linguine this was chock full of clam meat in a sweet broth like sauce. I almost didn't miss the shells. Our appetizers consisted of fried green tomatoes and 10 fried buffalo wings. Around the table for meals we got kids chicken tenders (delicious) the fried oyster po boy with pickled onions which was amazing, the soft shell crab BLT and a double cheese burger with cheddar and blue cheese. It's quality first at the Crazy Crab! They are dedicated to excellence and consistently provide it at a reasonable price. It's a good-looking seafood restaurant on the water with fine views. Nothing fancy and tables aren't packed together. If you come by boat, you can tie up to the pier that's practically their front porch. The food is consistently superb with good-sized portions. I came out of there about 45 minutes ago and am stuffed. I started off with a bowl of crab bisque, and should have gotten a cup so there would have been more room for my dinner. I went with the bowl because I know they don't scrimp on crab. A comment made by the owner, Mr. Williams has stuck in mind - "If you're going to make a crab cake, you'd better have plenty of crab." This was the first time I ordered their crab bisque and of course it had plenty of tasty crab meat in it. My entree was the Captain's Platter (broiled), which had a nice piece of flounder, a couple sea scallops, 4 shrimp and one of their fabulous crab cakes. I had cole slaw and their excellent hush puppies for sides. It was all cooked to perfection! I just had water to drink and the tab came to $45.50 Last, but not least, is the excellence of the staff. You never see anyone lollygagging and they all are dedicated to taking care of the diners. I had the good fortune of being served by Latoya. In other restaurants, single diners often get forgotten, but Latoya was there to take care of me professionally with a warm, genuine, convivial manner. I hope she serves me next time I'm there.
