This is one of our favorite restaurants in the northern neck area. As you can see by the number of pictures I have posted. We love bringing our friends and family to this place. They have a very nice outdoor space. I highly recommend calling in advance to make a reservation on a nice day. This place gets packed. They have a nice selection of sea food and a couple of choices for meat lovers. Definitely checkout their specials. They often have steak and flounder stuffed with shrimp and crab in their specials. Service can be on the slower side on a busy day. Price is nominal as well. Never had issues with any food. Stuffed flounder is my favorite. Lots of shrimp and crab on the flounder makes it very delicious. I love hush puppies as my side. It's nice and crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Parking is easy to find as well. read more

We went there yesterday. Waited almost 10 mins at the host table with no one around. i had to go kitchen area to get someone to seat us. I should have listened to my gut and left at this point. It took them ONE HOUR TWENTY MINUTES to get our food out. We asked multiple times with same response of they are working on it. And worse the food was mediocre at best. $250 tab, no one even offered to give us a drink or an appetizer on the house. Nothing from anyone to apologize or acknowledge. Our waiter was great personally. But this restaurant, the management and food sucks. What a waste of our time and money. read more

Last Friday, I had another spectacular meal at Horn Harbor. There are 3 or 4 seafood dishes I typically get, but you want to watch their specials. One special I watch for is a nice slab of rockfish with their crab imperial on it, convincing the diner that "crab imperial" is a perfect name for it. They've tweaked their crab imperial recipe over the years and it is outstanding. So anyway, this time I got a new special I hadn't seen before, They fix sea scallops with shrimp and have crab imperial over that, and it comes with rice and very fresh vegetables. It's just one bite of heaven after the other. I hope they put this on the regular menu. I dined on the new party deck, with its marvelous view of the sun setting on the Great Wicomico. The young man serving me was nice, efficient, professional and motivated to put forth an extra effort to make one's dining experience pleasant. Danny, the owner, has poured so much back into the restaurant and he is also always there keeping an eye on things. Besides the party deck is a whole new dining area and bar. This restaurant keeps just getting better. It has a really good gift shop that has also been expanded. It has all kinds of nautical items from statuettes of Poseidon to Horn Harbor hoodies and everything in between. They can get pretty busy at dinnertime, so it's a good idea to call ahead for reservations. ALSO, please note that Horn Harbor Restaurant is open all winter. Make a note of that. read more

What a fantastic little restaurant, a bit out of the way, but quaint with nice views, amazing service, and quite tasty food! We were having our dogs groomed and had some time to kill, so we decided to check out this place which is usually a bit out of our way for lunch, and we were not disappointed! Apparently they have several daily specials, as well as a good variety of choices on their menu. We will definitely return here during future grooming appointments! read more

Website says to call for a reservation and when trying to call no one answered. Once we got there after not being able to get a reservation, waited 20 minutes or so standing at the front waiting to talk to someone while I watched him roam around the restaurant not even seating anyone. Once he finally came back to the front he said that he needed us to move aside so he could get all the reservations sat. Someone I guess who was a regular there just slid to the front of the line and was sat immediately. When I asked how long he thought it would be because we didn't want to wait for him to get through all the reservations to not even been able to be sat, he said he didn't know. Ive worked in the restaurant business for almost 10 years and this was crazy to me. He could have atleast worked with us and gave us information on timing. I hate to rain on a restaurant with a bad review. It's a tough business. But seeing the five star reviews for Horn Harbor Restaurant forced my hand because maybe it indicates that the restaurant can and should do better and a bad review has value. In this case, from stem to stern, it was a zero star experience. We waited 20 minutes to be seated. Parking lot was full, so I get it, but no "we'll be right with you" or apology from what appeared to be a manager. We waited an hour and a half for our entree. No apology from our waitress, despite me saying "I'm sure you're having a bad night, but can you check on our entree?" It's a Sunday, tough day to expect full staff, and the servers aren't always responsible for subpar service, but.... And orders came out randomly with recent diners receiving plates well before my hungry trio. Finally, the food was not five stars. Rock fish special was over cooked and rubbery, salmon was overdone and order came with tomatoes on salad when none requested, and shrimp fettuccini was just ok, not much bite. Hate to compare, but we dined the night before at Adrift in White Stone. That's five stars. I'm always willing to give a restaurant a pass for a bad night. But this felt like a systems failure on all fronts at a restaurant that maybe should shut a room or two to address the labor shortage, tighten training and culture, get in the kitchen and quality assure the product, and right the ship. read more

WOW! I just had a spectacular meal at Horn Harbor Restaurant. The dinners are consistently good. Normally I'll get the Seafood Delight, Captain's Platter or, if I am really hungry and deserve a special reward - the Admiral's Platter. Tonight they had a baked rockfish special which I went for. A nice, thick, perfectly cooked slab of rockfish arrived on a bed of rice and covered with shrimp and crab imperial. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven! I swear, it couldn't have been any better. It came with a side of fresh vegetables - fresh green beans, onion, squash, carrots and maybe something else. It was really good, too, and cooked just right. With the house salad, I came out of their stuffed, as usual. I am a big eater and take it from me, they'll fill you up and you'll walk out with a smile. They had another special that looked intriguing, which I may try next time - one of their very good crab cakes with a soft-shell crab in a sandwich. Maybe next time, if they don't have this fantastic baked rockfish dish. Super head hostess Hannah was there, keeping things going smoothly and they were about half full on a Wednesday evening. It's generally a good idea to call ahead to get a reservation so you can be sure of getting a window seat to watch the sun go down peacefully over the Great Wicomico River. Take your time getting there on the winding road that takes you there because there's lots of deer. Another good thing I noticed was a couple of big potholes at the top of the hill coming out of there have been filled in. read more

After visiting a nearby winery, my husband and I were looking for a good (yet not stuffy) seafood spot for our anniversary. After hearing about this spot on Yelp and again from the folks at the winery, we had to check it out. We are certainly glad we did!!! Now, let me say... We almost missed the small sign off of Old Glebe Pt Rd (on the right) and I thought I saw a few children of the corn on the drive back as they danced to dueling banjos... But all worry subsided once a mountain of perfectly steamed crab legs beckoned me. My husband ordered the small (cough cough 28oz?!?) mouthwatering prime rib. (Needless to say we had prime rib omelets the next morning!) Get there early, as there was already a bit of a line before they opened on Saturday night. Service was friendly and efficient. It's for sure that we will be back when we are in town! read more

A few years ago, the reviews on this place were not very good at all but was one of the better places in the Reedville area. Shortly thereafter, I heard there was new ownership and things were better so we decided to try it again. We visited a few times with the new owners and things were really good for a year or two. We've been back a couple times and each time, service and quality have slowly declined. Wait times have increased considerably. White staff seems to always be shortstaffed. One of the items on the menu is a grilled chicken salad. When we received the salad, it was clear the chicken was processed from a food vendor and had grilled marks on it but not actually fresh grilled as the menu suggested. The shrimp was no longer fresh and battered in house. It looked like it was again from a good vendor, was pre-battered and frozen. It even had a line where the batter stopped on the tail. We complained to the manager, and all he said was that both of these dishes are very popular dishes but nothing in regard to our complaints, apologies or offers to remediate. Despite all this, we decided to try it one more time. Earlier that day we made reservations for 6 PM on a Saturday and arrived shortly before six. We requested to be sat outside which they accommodated. As they were taking us outside, we saw they were taking us down the stairs to the back. My mother has mobility issues and could not use the stairs so they directed us around the entire building to the back and sat us at our table. We waited 15 minutes to be greeted by a server. It took about 15 minutes to get our drinks which was a water and soda. It wasn't the waitress's fault. It was clear that they were understaffed. Probably to save money. Causing the waitress to be overwhelmed with too many tables. I think I counted 10 at once while we were waiting. We ended up waiting for over an hour and still hadn't received our food. We notified the server to give us our bill for the drinks that we drink and she said she would talk to her manager about the wait, cancelling our order and comping what we did have if needed. We were told that there was no cost by the waitress but received no explanation or apologies from the manager for the restaurant being short staffed on a Saturday and wait time. Unfortunately, this , we probably will not be back. This is a shame because it's such a nice location. I can also understand that it's hard because this town seems to be a seasonal town and much slower in the winter months. read more

Cool spot on the water if you're visiting the area. The reason for not giving 5 stars was because the food seems really salty but overall was good. We got the admiral platter, shrimp dinner, crab cakes, fish and chips and was impressed. If you're on the deck in the summer it's HOT. The server was great - cocktails and mocktails were good. There aren't a ton of restaurants in the area, so we were happy that it was good! We're from New England and the seafood is unbelievable, so we're a little hard to please when it comes to southern seafood, but we were happy. read more

Had a great meal here visiting family. Our server Michael was awesome...attentive, friendly and had great suggestions. Inside seating looked nice, but we couldn't turn down the waterfront view. Among the four of us, we sampled a little of everything: crab cake, prime rib, fried oysters, crab dip, soft shells and fish & chips (rockfish). Prime rib was just okay but everything else was above average. All the seafood was fresh and well-seasoned. Collard greens, the vegetable of the day, were great. This restaurant is located waterfront with 3 great outdoor seating areas. The view is beautiful. Upon arrival we were asked if we had reservations, "no this is our first time here." We were seated outside by the hostess, also our waitress. She told us reservations were recommended so that the appropriate number of staff could be scheduled. Got it!! Needless to say our service was slow. Our meal came out warm, sides & condiments forgotten and then the wrong salad came out still forgetting the other side. when the sides did come out we were reminded, "this is why we recommend reservations." We did get our to-go boxes quickly!! My husband is a generous tipper, with the exception of tonight!! I'm curious to know how the service would be with reservations! They don't understand they need help. The food quality can change with a good chef. The front of the house really tries to do a good job... the owners need to learn. We went to this restaurant (Summer 2018) as a special outing with family. We were a party of 6 and no one was satisfied with their food. I might mention, my family was brought up with seafood, as my grandfather had a successful seafood restaurant for years. We don't expect EXCELLENCE, HOWEVER for the prices we expect good, and whats listed on the menu. My parents frequented this place many times before and was happy with it, that's why they selected this place for our special occasion. Not only will they never go back, but we wouldn't think about it. I ordered the crab cakes meal. The crab cakes were TINY. I do not eat much and i could finish both of them with room to spare. Another ordered shrimp scampi and it tasted like nothing but lemon. It was gross. When we asked to have something else, the waitress wasn't very happy. My fathers shrimp tasted like shoe leather. The service was not great by a long stretch. We told her of our complaints and i also told the manager. No one seemed to care our night was much less than expected. Drinks weren't even kept full or a fresh one brought. If you want a good seafood meal, this isn't the place for you. Expensive mistake. Beware!!! read more

My wife and I took a day trip from Richmond to enjoy a beautiful autumn day in the Northern Neck. Horn Harbor Restaurant was on our short list, and we are so glad we checked it out. Driving along a narrow country road through farm fields, one has to feel relaxed. Turn right at the end of the lane through a farm gate and down a small lane, and you're asking is this the right place? Turn the curve and a nice building on the water (dock and marina) lies before you. You've arrived, and you'll be glad you have. It's Covid-19 times. The facility was clean, they sanitized the tables, masks are required when walking to your table. There was a choice of bottled and draft cold beer, and the local Glouchester beers were good. My wife ordered the crab cake sandwich and I ordered the fish 'n chips. The french fries (flat and wide) were very good, and the crab cakes were also good. But the Fish 'n Chips...Excellent! My wife exclaimed "they were the best she ever had" and I had to agree they were excellent - fresh and moist and firm inside with a perfectly fried outer cover. The waitress was friendly and did a fine job of taking care of us without intruding. We sat outside on the deck over the water, listening to the lapping of the river against the pilings and sea wall. The setting was perfect. Total cost $62 including 3 beers, fish 'n chips, crab cakes, taxes and tip. All in all, a very good lunch in a relaxing setting. Thank you! read more

If you plan to go to Horn Harbor for lunch during the week, think twice. I recently was there with some friends, one of whom has gluten allergies. He asked for the rockfish sandwich with out the bun and the fish broiled or pan seared. It was explained to us that there is no cook in the kitchen during lunch and they don't turn on the cooktop. The menu is very limited and the seafood is fried, whether or not you like it that way. If you are going out to lunch, find a restaurant that has a cook in the kitchen! read more

Went early @ 5:00 to avoid weekend rush - fairly busy day. Outstanding locaition on the water, motif and facility was beautiul. However, I rated this experience only "FAIR", based on past meals there this year with new owner. Prime Rib was excellent and prepared perfectly; Salad was mediocre - asked for extra onions, did not make it to the small serving of salad. No crackers, bread or croutons; Greens were excellent; seafood (oysters & crabs) were way overbreaded and way over cooked - hard almost burned and not much taste left; had two waiters on lower level inside that rushed around briskly, but did not listen nor seem to give much attention to our table - perhaps under staffed, but they lacked knowleged of good service and due to running around and not listening well. Upstairs service has always been very good. I will wait until I hear better reviews before going back read more

We have watched and waited (during the closure and remodel) for the re-opening of this restaurant. It was well worth the wait. We had cobia fillets, baked potatoes and salads. I had house chardonnay. It was all delicious. The staff was charming and the setting directly on the water is unbeatable. Do not expect instant service. There are lots of patrons, and a capable staff, but it's not something to be rushed anyway. Watching the folks arriving and departing from their boats is entertaining, as are the beautiful birds and open water. They have a happy hour, and this is about the only place I know of locally where they serve draft beer. What's not to like????? We will be back. read more

Horn Harbor House Restaurant is down a long winding road - tucked back on the waters of the Great Wicomico River. No wait on an October Saturday evening at about 7PM. My favorite beer - Sierra Nevada Pale Ale - is one of two beers on tap. Perfect choice for steaks and seafood alike. One of the night's special was the Prime Rib - offered in two cuts: The "Pebbles" or the "Wilma". Opted for the more manly cut. Cooked to pink perfection - but without a substantial crust - and not a whole lot of flavor. Still - the "Wilma" was tender despite it's impressive thickness - and with the accouterments of horseradish and au jus, everything turned out to be pretty tasty. Fresh side salad with grape tomatoes bursting with flavor. Friendly, courteous, and attentive staff rounded out a very nice evening. Toughest part of the night was deciding on dessert. A Heath bar cheesecake, flourless chocolate cake, apple crisp, bread pudding, or blackberry cobbler. Who are these people that devilishly put all my favorites on one dessert menu and force me to choose? UPDATE: On a subsequent visit, opted for a Fried Oyster / Shrimp platter. Both very tasty. Noticed the seasoned couple next to us went with the Fried Oyster platter with mashed potatoes as their side option. Fries that I ordered weren't up to par - so think I'll try the mashed potatoes w/ gravy next time around. Splendid service and always a warm welcome from the front desk. Went there last night with high hopes. I got broiled scallops with a salad and fries. The scallops were OK not great and the fires were cold. Salad was basic. For desert I had the homemade bread pudding. It was hard and very overdone. Came with a melted scoop of whip cream. All for $25.95. They need to do a lot better. read more
