This is a nice American restaurant and bar with 5 really good pool tables. They have 3 seven ft tables and 2 nine ft tables. They actually have 3 nine ft tables but the one in the middle is only for the owner and his guests. They charge $10 for an hour of pool, however if you order food and drinks I haven't seen them charge extra for pool. Food is really good here. I have had crab imperial and crab stuffed in a flounder, they are so delicious. Always tastes very fresh. Service is great. If you're playing pool and you want faster service, I recommend ordering at the bar and let them know to bring you food at the pool table. They have decent collection of beer as well. They have APA pool leagues on Wednesdays and Thursdays. If you're planning to play pool and have dinner, I wouldn't recommend going there on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Plenty of parking spots on non pool league days. Very spacious. read more

We went to KC with some out of town friends for dinner and pool. Since it was Valentine's Day they had a special menu which 3 of us ordered off of. I myself ordered a burger at the recommendation of our waitress, Heather. Not only was the service outstanding but the food was AWESOME! We enjoyed our evening so much. I think this is a solid 3-star restaurant. The menu is limited but what it offers is reasonably good. I just think for the prices, the food should be better than just basic recipes I could make at home. There is just nothing special about the restaurant's food or atmosphere. We go here because there aren't a lot of other options and because one member of our extended family does really like the soft shell crab sandwich. The tables feel a little sticky like they're not quite clean? The server was very nice although they appear to be understaffed, like a lot of restaurants these days. This restaurant came highly recommended and I could see how they would normaly get 4- 41/2 stars but today there was only one waitress during lunch and she was doing what she could, but we waited more than 5 minutes before our drink order was taken and 2 of the 3 were wrong. We ordered extra crispy wings with ranch and bleu cheese...they were not crispy and no sauces. We also ordered 3 steak and cheese subs, 2 with jalapenos....only 1 had the peppers. Got shrimp and the crab dip I did like the dip the dip it just wasn't worth the money in my opinion and the shrimp tasted like when they cleaned them they had bleached the container they may have cleaned them with. This was the second time we've been to KC's, but this time was a disappointment. The first time we went, we had crabs, which were really good. They were a good size and were fresh. The second time, we had a fried shrimp dinner and we wished we would have just stayed home. The drinks were good, but the food was not. Now, this could be attributed to the fact that we got there around closing time. We were told that we could only order fried foods, so we got shrimp and french fries. We thought that was simple enough, but evidently quality falls closer to closing. The french fries were saturated in oil, flavorless and not well cooked. The shrimp weren't bad, but they didn't have much flavor either. For $18, I expected more shrimp as well. Maybe we'll try this place again to break the tie...and definitely earlier in the day. read more

One of the go-to places in the Northern Neck for a non fussy, yummy meal. Their seafood is quite good and they often have "all you can eat nights" which are a great deal. The waitstaff is super friendly and make the meal extra good! I have friends who go here at least twice a week-it is that reliable. Bands and karaoke are also mainstays at the restaurant and make for a fun night! Overall a good place to go hang out, have a meal, play some pool with no fancy frills, bells or whistles. Positives: Service was great. Staff was attentive and friendly. Negatives: The restaurant only got 2 stars because of the service. I'm not sure if this is an east coast thing because I've never had soft shell crabs before coming here so who knows. The crab cakes had bits of shell in it and the stuffed shrimp had bits of crab shell as well. From my experience neither of these should include anything but crab meat. It was almost as if crab legs had been pulverized and someone forgot to remove all of the shell pieces. The children's chicken strips were undercooked. All in all the food was not worth the 20$/plate. I wish the food was on par with the service because I would have liked to give it some good stars. read more

Best oysters I've had in quite a while!

We live out of state but visit Kilmarnock frequently. This is always a go to spot. The food is good, the service can be slow, but the staff is always friendly. My fav: fried shrimp....not too bready, steamed broccoli and the deviled eggs. Also really like the Crab Wicomico and the steamed sampler. When soft shells are in season that is the go to. We were made to feel very unwelcome. I understand wanting your customers to wear shirt and shoes but the rules for your dress code are a bit ridiculous. Your waitress is beyond rude, grumpy and was not at all attentive UNLESS you were drinking alcohol OR were a regular customer. My children (11 and 13) were not allowed to play pool with 2 supervising adults. And I won't say any more about the bug that I killed. Unpretentious, great time. Killer service and good food. We visited on a busy night - barely a space left in the lot. A nice server held the door for us and helped us look around for a seat - we landed at the bar which was our preference anyway. Bartender had drafts in front of us in seconds. Split a fried seafood platter which was amazingly good ... scallops and oysters especially. The beers kept coming, music kept playing, and we had a great time in general. Happy with the bill, too. Decided to try this place tonight. It's a bar that has a seating area for food. First - Can't believe it's rated $$ instead of $$$. (OK - I just checked the range for prices and it fits the $$ category, but for the quality of the food it's REALLY EXPENSIVE) Most entrees were $22 or above. Second - Here are our entrees; Crab Wicomico (crab meat in a dish, buttered and broiled), butter bean (veggie of the day) and cole slaw; Shrimp Alfredo, crab chips (homemade chips seasoned with Old Bay) and potato salad. Crab was very good. Lot's of meat and no filler. Butter beans were disgusting. Straight out of the can and they simmered in a pot all day so they were nice and mushy. Cole slaw was edible but it was right out of the plastic container as well. Shrimp Alfredo - small shrimp but OK. Looked like they used egg noodles instead of any recognizable pasta. If chips had Old Bay on them you could have fooled me. Potato salad? - right out of the same container as the cole slaw Service was good. Our waitress kept the iced tea flowing without any prompting. Didn't push the drink selection but they did have Blue Moon on draft. read more

They raised their prices a little bit a couple months ago but it's a good deal. The Crab Wicomico is probably the best thing on the menu. The beer is cheap and flows like water. A group of 4 made the drive from The Tides,in Irvington for a night of Shag lessons, which turned out (to our great delight!) not only Shag, but Salsa and Line Dancing! We as visitors were welcomed as if they've known us forever. We all soon got personal lessons and took part in the multigenerational FUN! CUDOS!!! To the owner of this fabulous restaurant and hangout for providing not just the best steamed clams and fried sampler that ever smacked our lips...but the coldest beers and most excellent and friendly waitstaff in all of this FUN!!!!! We got second orders of their yummy hush puppies and vowed to return to sample all of their delicious and reasonably priced menu. We will return to this JEWEL!!! My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting KC's on a Sunday and were we glad that the only other seafood place in town was closed down. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a board with the day's specials and my husband's mouth DROPPED! They had all you can eat blue crabs (the only place in town that has them), unlimited steamed shrimp and unlimited ribs for $34.99. The service there was SUPERB! We were greeted by the manager Janice and the bartender KC. They were so friendly and welcoming, we immediately felt right at home. My husband ordered the special and I had the pick 3 with the BEST scallops I have ever had. They were lightly browned and perfectly cooked. Mike had 12 crabs which were "heavy" meaning full of meat and they were definitely fresh, not mushy at all. Many place's crabs will get mushy if they are re-steamed and you could tell these were prime! Steamed shrimp was awesome, but NOTHING compared the the ribs with their homemade BBQ sauce. Mike actually ate 2 servings in addition to everything else! People talk all the time about ribs that fall off the bone and this is definitely the case here. They were meaty and juicy and the sauce was phenomenal! We even asked to meet the chef and she explained how she cooked them (not that I could do it myself). Last but not least.... the hush puppies! All I can say is WOW!!! They are made on site from a recipe that would not be shared and I understand why. I try and stay away from too many carbs, but these puppies were worth EVERY CALORIE. They were sweet yet seasoned and guiltily; yes, I got another order of them. We are not BIG eaters, but we know good food and appreciate a good chef. Special KUDOS to KC who was testing out new flavors of margaritas and she is DEFINITELY a mixologist! Her new margarita as well as her champagne martinis are to DIE FOR. We would both HIGHLY recommend this place to everyone as we are planning a trip back again this weekend to do some fishing... Not to mention a trip back to see our new friends at KC's.
