My husband had the grilled chicken chimi & I had House Pineapple with chicken, beef, & shrimp in a 1/2 pineapple with a queso drizzle. Oh, it was delicious!! Everything was really good! My family and I were looking for a restaurant off of the interstate and decided to give this place a shot. We were blown away by the food AND hospitality, the carnitas tacos were some of the very best I've ever eaten. I will definitely be thinking about the food for a very long time. Stopped here on the way back from San Antonio. Food was absolutely delicious! Having ate at a substantial amount of Mexican restaurants in my life this would rank among the top ten easily. So, this restaurant is located in Palestine, Arkansas, population 660. I'm not sure there is another restaurant in town except the Subway inside of Love's truck stop. As a result, this place offers a little bit of every type of food, from fried fish to pizza (and Mexican) . The service was very fast and friendly in a laid back atmosphere. We opted for Mexican. I honestly can't say much about the food. Mostly it was just average.The flour tortillas are not house made and were barely warm, the refried beans didn't have much seasoning. We exited the interstate after reading reviews on the Crazy Donkey. We were looking for something different on the road from Little Rock to Memphis and there it was... at Palestine, Arkansas just 30 minutes west of Memphis! This is a gem of a place! It wasn't busy on this Monday early afternoon but we were treated like we were the only customers in the place! Friendly courteous and the food was ready hot and on the table in less than 10 minutes! Fresh food. Hot food. Good tasting like NOT out of a box good food but just now cooked to order crispy where it's supposed to be crispy and tender where it's supposed to be tender! I asked for no extra salt and just a sliced avocado added to my dish and they prepared it exactly as I asked. Service was excellent and it was a really great choice and a very good decision. Just out of sight from the highway and over the railroad tracks to the left. You can't miss the crazy donkey when you get there! What a fun thing to do along the way! read more

I Went to get pizzas because it was advertised in 2 different places that I could get 2 medium pizzas for $15. It was advertised on Facebook that it started yesterday and when I went to the restaurant it was on the sign out front and they still wouldn't honor it. So I just ordered some Mexican rice and it was cold and soggy and the plastic utensils, that are prepackaged, was open and missing the spoon. On a recent roadtrip, myself and 4 other companions were what some would consider to be weary travelers. We were in the midst of a journey back to Tennessee from Oklahoma and The Crazy Donkey was our chosen watering hole. We were greeted by a wonderful young man who quickly quenched our thirst with some ice-cold waters, crispy chips, and zesty salsa. We ordered off of the lunch menu; myself and another one of my fellow companions had the mixed fajitas, one had the Patriot Burrito, one had the chicken chimichanga, and one had the vegetarian fajitas. Not only was the food piping hot and brought quickly to our table; it was incredibly tasty and best value we could have asked for. The next time that we're traveling through the area, we will certainly stop by The Crazy Donkey once again in anticipation of being greeted by hospitable people and great food. read more

The food is soggy, and the not worth the price. A side order is over $6, and it is small. They also do not offer what is on their menu, as I was trying to order a special and they said they could "just wipe it off". After this he sent someone with a paper towel to wipe it off. Extremely disappointed and felt like false advertising. I was visiting from New York and I will definitely never be returning and not recommending this place. read more

This was different, but good. I'm from Texas so this is not the Tex-Mex I expected, in fact it's unlike any Tex-Mex I've had before. I was originally going to have Chalupas. That's generally a crispy flat tortilla covered with beans, beef, chili gravy, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. The waiter had never heard of this before. So I asked what kind of cheese they used in their cheese enchiladas. The waiter said mozzarella. So, moving on, I just ordered ground beef enchiladas. They came out covered in a white creamy cheese sauce, not the chili gravy typically used in the Tex-Mex I'm familiar with. Was it good? Yes. Was it expected? Definitely not. Would I order it again? We found The Crazy Donkey Grill on Yelp as we were driving cross country. It is just a few minutes off of the freeway and so easy to get to. As we arrived in the parking lot, we were greeted by other guests with smiles and friendly hellos. The friendliness continued when we walked inside and the staff greeted us in like manner. On Yelp people had posted pictures of the menu which contained quite a variety of foods. The menu we were handed, however, was TexMex only (although the cover says "The Crazy Donkey Grill Tex Mex and Pizza"). I asked if they had pizza and the waitress said "oh yes. We have several other things. The full menu is on Facebook." We thought it was odd that the menus were incomplete, but that was ok. The server was able to offer us everything we had previously seen on the Yelp menu pics and we were happy with that. Now for the food -- we ordered a cheese pizza, chicken quesadilla, cheese enchiladas with red sauce, and plain chicken wings (they are not breaded & have a great flavor - perfect for the gluten free person in your party!). All of our meals were delicious!!!! The owner approached my husband and asked how we had found their restaurant so he told her "my wife found them on Yelp". She was happily surprised. (Yelp for the win!)
