Forest city was a hotel stop on our way to TN. Got in a little late and Iguanas was still open. Was greeted by a very friendly staff , waitress was exceptional. After a long day of driving , beer & cocktails was much needed. They have a full bar and good selection of beers. Chips and salsa were excellent. Ordered the shrimp Diablo and enchilada /taco plate. Shrimp Diablo is very spicy and hot. The food was exceptionally good for being in Arkansas. Would definetly eat here again. It was post eclipse on our drive back to Tennessee from Conway Arkansas when hunger traversed a path of totality in our stomachs. Forest City was fast approaching, so we pulled up Google and discovered Iguanas Mexican restaurant. I guess that it was appropriate that we chose Mexican food for our dinner fare. After seeing the corona of the sun, it's only fitting that a Corona beer be ordered. But I didn't. I ordered a Dos XX instead. Corona is Mexican Budwieser. We were seated immediately and presented with menus displaying food choices printed top to bottom. And I mean top to bottom! Bring your glasses for there's so many selections from which to choose crammed onto that laminated card stock. My eye managed to ferret out a promising entree. The Burrito Grande. Steak, onions, peppers, beans, cheese, served with guacamole and sour cream on the side. Rice also came with it. When it arrived at our table, I was a little underwhelmed as to its size. Grande, it was not. Maybe it was Grande to the person who served it to me, for he was small in stature. But to a tall, strapping young senior citizen, it fell short of being grandiose in size. However, in taste, it was. So I'll give them a pass on the description. It was deliciously tasty. The grandkids had tacos and scrumptious looking enchiladas. Those left mere rings on the plates after they were done. I think that they enjoyed theirs as much as I did mine. Don't be dissuaded by its location. Iguanas is in a very nondescript strip mall. It's more deserving of a building of its own. But who am I to guess. I have no idea what rental rates are in the hamlet of Forrest City. For all I know, it may be prime real estate for the region. Go there and enjoy. They even have a small store inside where one can find an array of all things south of the border. Quick Tip: When searching for the restaurant across the vastness of the strip mall parking lot, look low for their sign. At the time of this reviews writing the sign over the restaurant looked like it was lost in a windstorm. No worry, though. The food will blow you away. read more

Traveling halfway point stop & decided to try this location as it was close to hotel and more time before closing than our other choice. Just passing through so gave it a try. Ordered Huevos Rancheros. The portion size was good and the price even better. I asked for corn tortillas and got flour; was already back at the hotel so I just ate them. The sauce was a little too spicy for me, and too much sauce overall. You couldn't taste the eggs because of the sauce. Got a generous portion of chips and salsa but too bad the chips were stale. We stopped here for dinner before checking into our hotel. This place was hard to find. It is in a low-end strip mall with a non-lighted small sign. When we walked in, we were acknowledged and seated after a few minutes. First, I ordered a margarita and were told that they don't have margaritas. Unusual for a Mexican restaurant, right? Also, the waitress had to go get another waitress to tell me this because she didn't speak English. I placed a simple order of just tacos. I had to point to the picture on the menu to show her what I wanted and held up 3 fingers. My husband had to order a chimichanga the same way. From what I saw & observed, most of the waitstaff spoke very little English. I ordered beef tacos. I received chicken tacos and not with shredded chicken, but with chunks of chicken. I didn't realize this until I took my first bite. I kept the incorrect order because my husband had received his lukewarm meal at the same time. The tacos were simply tortillas with chucked chicken, lots of lettuce, and a little cheese. Very bland. I ended up removing the chicken and lettuce and just ate the tortilla with cheese and my husband's rice from his meal. The Spanish rice was hard and tasted like it came from a can. We were not checked on at all during our meal and had to chase down the waitress for the check. We were the only customers in there, but the waitstaff was busy laughing loudly & talking in Spanish together at the back of the restaurant. One star was given because the water was cold. I've from TX, so I have been to a great number of Mexican style restaurants. This is definitely not up to par. read more

Coming from a place where good choices are plenty, I get to choose where to go but while you travel you have have limited choices and this place was the best rated out of the places here. It's definitely nice and clean so to that I will definitely give them a 4.5. Ladies restroom could use same decor and updates to have the same feel of the rest of the restaurant plus it could use a a clean. We ordered the "a la carta" chicken tacos (x3 each order) and they came with chips and salsa. Nope, tasteless boiled chicken. I'm not sure if I'm glad they really didn't put much in each taco. The salsa is what Leonardo from Overboard would say "a big bowl of red nothing". Water down. The only taste for sure you'll keep is the onion one. Overall I would not stop here again. read more

Traveling through from Illinois. Walked in, two guys hanging up signs at front. Seemed like weren't interested in seating us. After we were finally seated, seemed like all the employees had a difficult time understanding when we were ordering. Wife told waitress to change out refried beans with black beans. Seemed like she had some trouble understanding but she said ok. Order came out, refried beans on plate. Asked other waiter if they could change out with black. He said they didn't have black beans so she was stuck with refried. Waitress also asked my wife if she wanted flour tortillas, she replied yes. Flour tortillas didn't come out with meal. By the time we were almost finished with meal, finally waiter came by and we were able to ask about them and get a refill. Poor service. Only 4 tables being used in large restaurant, total of 8 customers. And no one had time to come by and check on refills or if we needed anything. Yelp is definitely wrong on this place. Not a 4 star place. Should have went to sonic or McDonald's. Surprised this place is even open. read more

Little weird to find, no sign on top, in strip mall. I got the lunch fajitas, my husband asked for something alacarte. He speaks Spanish and they brought him the lunch plate instead--he got to pay the difference too. I asked about tortillas with my fajitas and the lady kept bringing me silverware. My husband finally asked her in Spanish and she seem surprised we wanted tortillas with fajitas and said it doesn't come with it. She finally brought some out. So weird. Food was standard American Mexican faire. Service as super slow--not busy. read more

Mexican food in northeast Arkansas is a risk (for a Texan), but this place was one of the few restaurants open on Sunday evening, so we gave is a try. The food was actually very good, albeit with a white cheese sauce on their enchiladas. Upon review, they did offer a chili-type enchilada sauce, but the white sauce was good, just different than I'm used to. Whatever you order, get some soft corn tortillas. They are fresh, homemade, and some of the best I've had. No margaritas, beer and wine only, but other than that, great! read more

Surprisingly good. Pro tip - ask for the spicy salsa for your chips or the tomatillo sauce. Both are better than the very mild red salsa. Great mocajete (huge!) Excellent beef street tacos, good burritos, and very yummy white queso sauce. I think they make their own queso fresco cheese that was served with the mocajete. The lunch specials are a good value. On the way home from Nashville with a group of friends and was hungry. Forrest City is not usually a place I would stop, but it was 8pm and we hadn't eaten since noon. I got on Yelp (naturally) and started my search. Someone suggested a Wendy's, but yelp reviewer gave it a 1-star. So, nope. I saw Iguanas and convinced the group to do it. What a great surprise! Everyone agreed (all 10 of us) that this was a diamond in the rough. Great atmosphere. Great options. Really good food. I got a Chimichunga (YUM!) and my wife got a skillet that was in a half-pineapple (SUPER YUM!). Other folks plates look good too and everyone had a great time. Had the street tacos. FIVE on a plate! Great flavor. Coupled that with an icy cold Tecate and I was in Mexican Heaven. The place had just opened (5:00) so the help outnumbered the guests. Did I say the service was excellent too? Finished it off with a great tasting flan. That was the true test of the place (imho). Great dinner! We really liked everything. I got tacos de lengua. They were really good and not dried out at all. The beans and rice are basic and a little bland but that is almost expected at this point in Mexican restaurants. I really liked the green salsa. We would eat here again if we were passing through. It was just off the highway. At first, we thought it was closed because the sign was not lit up, and through the windows, it looked dark. When we went in, we heard people but didn't see anyone at first. Then we got seated and looked at the very extensive menu. I was pleasantly surprised by how fast the food arrived.
