Stopped in this morning and grabbed the sausage melt, and it absolutely hit the spot. Perfectly grilled bread, great flavor from the sausage, and everything came together just right -- simple, hot, and satisfying. What really stood out though was the owner running the place by himself because of the weather and still putting out quality food with a great attitude. That says a lot. A good bbq joint in an old school building just south of Downtown Davidson. It was a warm day so we dined on the patio. Come inside, check out the menu on the wall, and order at the counter. I enjoyed the brisket grilled cheese which was nicely toasted and had a good amount of brisket. The sandeich was good on its own but was also enjoyable with a few of their bbq sauces (there are about 6 to try). The Mac and cheese was a nice complement and the hush puppies had a good balance of softness inside but a bit of crisp on the outside. My son had the pork sliders. Two of them were similar in size to a small pork sandwich at other bbq restaurants. When you're seeking some pork or brisket and you're near Davidson The Crazy Pig will treat you right. read more

Great service and very nice - BBQ okay, expected a little more spice and less dry - it relies heavily on the sauces, I like it when the BBQ stands on its on without sauce - that is me. I've had a lot of brisket grilled cheese and this was hands down the best one I've had. Meat cooked perfectly! Cheese was ooey-gooey.... on Texas toast... Delicious!!! It came with your choice of a side. The staff was friendly, restaurant clean, and food came quickly. All you could want from a BBQ spot! The house made sauces were great as well. Can't believe we've lived in the area for an year and didn't try this place until recently. And of course, we loved it and went back the following week bringing our out of town guests! The fried pickles were a great appetizer to share. I love the taco platter (includes pulled pork, pulled chicken and brisket). It is the perfect portion with generous amounts of meat and toppings! We also tried a 'pick 2' the pulled pork and brisket was very juicy and flavorful. There were a few sauces to choose from, their House Sauce was perfection on the brisket and tasty for dipping as well. read more

Never have I had an experience with a restaurant owner worse than this. My friends and I walked into the crazy pig on sept 20 after attending a nearby festival. Immediately from walking in we were greeted and told to take a seat and order at front. Completely normal started polite. We found a table and were deciding on food (we stood out of the way at our table to not holdup the line) Max 5 min pass and restaurant owner comes up to my group and says we need to hurry sit down and order. I politely said that I was still looking at the menu I wasn't ready to order. Instead of responding with the same energy, he instead told us to hurry and to sit down or get out and stop being an inconvenience. Inconvenience to who!? We were the only people in there! In what friendly restaurant environment are you not allowed to talk to your friends? Apparently The Crazy Pig. Both came out stone cold, I would have said something but we were sitting at the bar area and someone only came around every 10-15 minutes so by the time we would have mentioned it I was ready to pay and leave anyways. I got the same sandwich & beer. It was a sad sandwich with little meat. Maybe it is a covid shortage thing, but more meat is how you get folks coming back. So maybe don't get the Wildcat sandwich...for now. We also got the Crazy Pig sandwich which was MUCH better. Fries were good but eat them quick, they got pretty hard and less yummy once cold. Hush puppies were good. I enjoyed their style of sauces. All fairly thick and great flavor with a variety of sweet and spicy. You can order at the counter, get a number, & grab a seat. This is an awesome little place in Davidson that has outstanding BBQ. I had the two meat platter with brisket and pulled pork, both were really good. My guest had the BBQ sliders which were also really good. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. We dined outside, which is quite nice, even though your next to a street (the traffic isn't noisy since it's a 25 mph speed limit). Their beer selection isn't extensive, but they offer a good selection that should satisfy most people. I'm adding The Crazy Pig to my "go to" list based on the food, service, and the quaintness of the business. read more

Friday afternoon found me in Davidson feeling a tiny bit snacky. was thinking about maybe scoring me some viking food but a Yelp search pointed me here instead... good call Yelp! go up the ramp past the outdoor seating and turn left past the indoor seating and order foods and beverage: pulled pork sandwich plus slaw, peach cobbler, and eastcider (the sweet sets up nicely against the savor of smoked meat.) The namesake Crazy Pig was still a hand-and-a-half sammich after I pulled out some of the meats as a precaution against spillage (forked them up with a little slaw and thick spicy red sauce.) a pile of pulled smoked porks topped with slaw and a few pickles; meats are a skosh dry which keeps it from becoming a sloppy mess when assembled and then consumed so an extra yea for me! creamy slaw is somewhere between chopped and shredded where all good slaw exists, from where I sit a pinch of carrot or red cabbage wouldn't hurt. "canned" cobbler is cute with a firm but light biscuit and whole spears of real fruit. I spoke with most of the staff on premises (5 of 6) and they were all pleasant and helpful which is nice. spacey outdoor seating, and distant inside as well, everyone has a mask, no gloves on me or the cashier but sanitizer is readily available... meal was a little bit spendy but what isn't these days? the plague and all its bastard children aren't doing anyone any favors and the normalcy we return to won't be the one we left. regardless, whatever was getting sideways here earlier seems to be working itself out or maybe I'm just doing this wrong :-) read more

New spot in Davidson that is replacing the old Fuel Pizza joint. They've done a great job painting the building and refurbishing the inside. There's a cute bar section and the main dining area is fast casual style (order at the counter, take a number, and food is brought to you). The servers and kitchen are all wearing masks for COVID-19 precautions and some inside seats are x'd out to prevent crowding. The menu is cool. Good sandwhich combos and platters with all the BBQ basics. I settled for The Wildcat; a brisket sandwhich with peppers, onions, provolone, bbq sauce all on a hoagie. It was....ok. There was about 1oz of meat on it. I picked around to see if maybe I was just missing something, but sadly no. So Yelp fam, I did it...I went inside and asked the kitchen to fix it. Honestly I'm glad I did because I felt like I got a better portion (closer to 3oz), but all in all, this is a big hoagie bun with not a lot of filling inside. Ok ok, enough about the sandwich.... The sauces are ok, very thick and syrupy to me and the sides were ok, too. The slaw is a very fine chopped coleslaw drowning in sweet mayo. I'm gonna give these guys a chance to work out some fresh opening kinks before heading back. I think if they work it out it'll be a great neighborhood spot. read more

Disappointed in the reaction I received when I called to inform them an item was left out of my take out order. They questioned me, implying that I was lying. They did agree to refund the item price, but after a week have not do so. Not the way to treat loyal customers...or any customers. read more

This place is a hidden gem!! I don't usually go to Davidson, but if you happen to be around the area please check this place out!! I was so surprised at how juicy and tender the brisket was and how flavorful the pulled chicken is. Their mac and cheese bites are to die for!! The customer service is always great and they give out great recommendations! The place is a cute little order up front and sit down restaurant. They also have a variety of beer options! I'd give it zero if I could. I've eaten here twice. We had the brisket and some sides the first time. The beef tasted like and had the texture of boiled roast beef. No flavor. The sides were disappointing. We threw the meal away and left. The second time, a year or so later, we had the smoked wings. They were smoked. Then, to reheat them, they deep fried them. They were so overdone in the fryer that they were inedible. I at six of a dozen. That was as much as I could get through. Many of the wings were visibly dry and overdone and had no business being put in a plate. Save your money. After two attempts with considerable time between this place is a lost cause. Or stick to the pulled pork. My brother said that was okay. There are better options if you want bbq. Any option is better. read more

Recently dropped in for a pickup order. The recently opened up so I thought I would give them a try. Ordered a barbecue sandwich and grilled cheese with brisket. Both with fries. The staff was not trained very well and they were very disorganized. The food was very mediocre and not memorable. I can't come up with a reason to go back. The bun and bread were fresh but very standard grocery store stuff. Barbecue and brisket were good but not delicious in any way. The competition is so much better nearby that these guys will be in trouble if they don't step it up! They are the only barbecue in Davidson so it's a good location, but I am not going back. Mid-wood Smokehouse and Cowboy are far better choices nearby. Mac's Speed Shop is also far better. read more

Please do not let the smoke pit smell and looks deceive you. Totally disappointed. at first glance, there was promise in the air. However, upon ordering one hour after being opened, I was told I bought by the last banana pudding? How can that be, you say? hmmmm, must be the last one from yesterday?!? Upon closer investigation I was right, it was day old and soggy! Now moving on to the main reason we stopped in. The smoke filled the air outside and drew us in, the BBQ aficionados that we are. Our senses were expectant with hopes of a new found BBQ establishment. anyone who knows barbecue knows you should always try the chopped pork first! So we ordered a pork sandwich and two sliders with fries and onion rings to share. That's where it ended. Meat was cold, on the sandwiches. No flavor other than the sauce you added, buns felt stale and the fries seemed to be deep fried twice and not even hot. One may think wow they must have been so busy on a Saturday and just could not keep up. I really really hate leaving a review like this but I hope you learn and grow from this experience. Very friendly order takers menu looks and reads delicious. For starters the men's restroom needs attention yesterday. Urine all over the floor and seat and they just opened so idk who the night shift or openers was suppose to take care of that but extremely bad odor as well like a porta potty. I ordered the half chicken. Taste exactly like a hot dog had to drown in sauce to get down also very dry. Very very strange. The mac n cheese. Just take it off the menu that is atrocious that you even serve this. Like middle school lunch Mac n cheese. Extremely flavorless and just no wow factor anywhere on my plate.
