    Pretzel Bites and Corn Fritters
    Julia C.

Good spot! We went there a couple months back. The food was all delicious and well seasoned! We loved the spot being right in the middle of Davidson. The food was really good. Loved the corn crab fritters, definitely try those!! It is so fun too that you can do a beer flight. We went on a weeknight, and it was pretty quiet, but I imagine this spot is busy on the weekend.

    Lobster Risotto

Every thing we ordered was fresh delivered hot with excellent service. My partner had the lobster risotto that was very tasty and I had one of the best pork chop that was tender and juicy. Bothe dishes were served hot out of the kitchen! Chiefs did excellent cooking ‍

Pain Killer cocktail, with extra in a sidecar. The size was so generous!

Every meal I've ever had here has been good. Great central location in the middle of Davidson. Friend & I went in last Friday for appetizers & a cocktail before a play. She had prosecco; I had the delightful (& generous!) Pain Killer cocktail pictured. We ordered asparagus & goat cheese grits to share. Both were good, especially the goat cheese grits! In the past, have really enjoyed the salmon with quinoa, salads, burger, & steaks. I'll admit, can be a bit pricey, but it's downtown Davidson?- what do the other reviewers expect when they walk in the door? (IFKYK) Note- The couple next to us had a pair of smoked classic cocktails that looked/smelled amazing (can't remember what they were). They came out in a box ("chest") full of what was presumably smoking wood chips- divine. We will definitely try this next time. Also, these guys own Mandolino's Artisan Pizza across the street. Every pizza and salad I've ever tried there was excellent.

Strong 4 stars. This was a work lunch. Popped in for a quick bite because it was close by. First time visiting. We were able to get a seat fairly quickly. For me the menu is limited. They have great things just not a lot I am going to eat because I am not a seafood person and didn't want a salad. However, those sweet potato fries were soooooooooooo good! My colleague ordered hers with regular fries. Both our burgers well done. They nailed the cook. It was just cooked to well. Now I did find one pink spot but by that point I'd eaten 90% of the burger. And yes I surely did finish it! Shout out to our server! We never wanted for Diet Coke. I have got to do better remembering names! She checked in often. We asked for the check early and it was like she magically reappeared with it 10a later. A couple of weird things. The door. I don't know if this is a summer issue or installation issue. Maybe it will be corrected by the time you go but you have to pull hard to open the door. Like pull on it or you will think it's locked. Also, the music randomly increased in volume. It was at a good level the. All of a sudden it felt like 5:15 in a neighborhood bar. Maybe somebody's jam came on and they wanted to hear it? I touch too loud. The place got progressively crowded for lunch but it wasn't so loud that the music volume needed to be increased. No beers or cocktails for us. I did peel at the bar and it looks well appointed.

Our 1st night in the Davidson area. We started with the pretzel bites - they were not dense but more light and salty. My husband loved the shrimp & grits and my salmon with risotto was amazing! My husband also raved about his Manhattan cocktail - best ever. Our waitress, Savannah, provided excellent service and was friendly and attentive. She even gave us recommendations on surrounding towns.

We were visiting Charlotte and Yelped it for dinner. We lucked out and found a gem of a place. When you walked in you could smell the delicious aroma from the grill. We made reservations via Yelp and were seated immediately. Our server Chelsea was as sweet as can be. We ordered an appetizer recommended by our server... Mussels! It was a huge bowl full. They came in a Thai flavored broth that had a little kick to it. I didn't think we could finish the entire bowl... But it was so good, that we did! Oh and it came with some breadsticks that were char grilled and so very good... Only wish it came with more! I ordered the Salmon. I asked Chelsea to be sure it was not overcooked. It came out a perfect medium. The parmesan risotto and bok choy that accompanied the Salmon was equally tasty. There was a foam on top that looked really cool but I couldn't say that it had a taste to it. My hubbie ordered the most expensive entree... The NY strip. The temperature was a perfect medium rare. It was served with creamy whipped potatoes. Yummy. It was fine dining in an unpretentious setting... Our kind of place. Thanks for making our visit worth the trip. Bravo to the chef. Kudos to Chelsea! Other: We found parking right behind the building. They have a good sized bar with a large drink selection.

    Salmon quinoa bowl

I made a stop in here late Saturday for lunch while I was in Davidson. The restaurant was not very busy and I was seated immediately. The lunch menu was small but had a good selection. I opted for the Salmon Quinoa bowl and a beer. The food came out fairly quickly - the dish was served cold with the exception of the salmon. I have to admit, this was one of the best preparations of salmon that I've had - crispy on the outside but not over cooked in the middle. I did end up taking off a star due to the price. My 16oz beer cost $16! It was a craft beer that was not rare and I can't think of the last time I've paid that price (other than maybe an athletic stadium). Typically a beer like that is $7-$8.

I absolutely loved everything about this place. We stopped in for a craft cocktail and sat at the bar. There was plenty of seating and the best part was the bartender Josh. He was genuinely friendly and suggested some special drinks. I ordered the pear martini (out of this world) and the mojito made with fresh mint. They use locally sourced ingredients wherever possible and the menu looked amazing, although we did not try anything. The whole feel inside was comfortable and friendly! This is a must try!

Snapper with chickpeas and broccolini - perfection!

Flatiron has joined our short list for Saturday dinner due to their consistently excellent food, service, and comfortable location. If you can get their deviled eggs with smoked salmon, DO IT! They serve four perfectly filled eggs with a savory (not sweet) deviled egg filling, tasting strongly of mustard and paprika. Yum! And the smoked salmon elevates the eggs like no other topping. It was amazing. Their Caesar salad is also worthy of a repeat. The homemade dressing and croutons elevate this salad, and it's large enough to share a little. On our last two visits, I had the snapper and sea bass dishes. I like that they rotate their seafood offerings based on availability. I appreciate that both dishes were low carb, but yet full of flavor. The meals were cooked perfectly, and the portions were perfect, too. My husband had their burger on one occasion, and it was juicy and cooked perfectly medium rare. Their fries are good, too! But their standout dish is the roast chicken. Last night, they served it with buttered rice and the most amazing brussels sprouts cooked in a savory broth. The chicken was topped with a sour cream drizzle, and was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The chef came by to see if my husband enjoyed the chicken, and told us they cook the chickens whole with lots of herbs to ensure the most juicy flavor. It was amazing! Service had always been wonderful at Flatiron. And the kitchen is efficient at ensuring the perfect timing between appetizers and entrees. I love the atmosphere at Flatiron, too. The building is gorgeous, and the tall ceilings and well-spaced tables make it very comfortable to eat there. And the blues music they played the last few visits was just wonderful. We can't wait to return!

A little slow to start (perhaps we threw off their rhythm)...but went on for a great meal. Nice selection of reasonably priced and interesting wines by the glass. We started with the crab dip which is served with a lot of delicious focaccia. Truth is, that might have been enough...but we continued! She had the scallops, and I the swordfish. Both really outstanding. The swordfish in particular was impressive -- sizable and thick filet that was, nonetheless, not dry in the least. It's pricey. It's hard to get in to. As other reviews have pointed out, it's a seafood spot but you have options if your tastebuds call for something else. From the oysters to the main dish - EVERYTHING was great! I've put this place on my list of spots to keep in rotation, because it sincerely is that good! Make a reservation and go check them out!

Chef Erick + team take every measure to prevent cross contamination for those with allergies - whether seafood or gluten. I also love the way their set up is: order your drinks from king canary, order your food from the Marlee Jeans side. It's perfect for gathering with a group as they give you a number tent and the server/food runner brings you the food as soon as it is prepared. In my opinion, this prevents food from sitting in the windows and getting cold cause "it's not my table." The concept of gathering your own utensils (not plastic) is spot on as it allows those who only want to drink and sit and socialize not feel pressured to order a full sit down meal, thus washing cutlery that's never been used. For this most recent visit, I took advantage of their snow-weather special: $30 for 1 dozen raw oysters as well as their lobster Mac and cheese. Coming out hot and bubbly with a cheese crust, I had to wait for the Mac and cheese to cool off to eat. I sat at the raw bar and watched Chef Erick personally shuck my oysters. I originally wanted sweet tea (sadly they didn't have any ), so I switched it up and ordered their spicy Bloody Mary instead... and WOW. Holy moly, it was GOOD. Easily the highlight of the meal for me. We tried a few different things -- the tuna wontons, burrata salad with shrimp, panini, and potato wedges. The presentation was great and everything was decent, but the food itself was just okay overall. Atmosphere and drinks definitely carried the experience for me. Giving this one 4 stars because the vibe was really nice, patio was dog-friendly, and that Bloody Mary deserves its own shoutout.

The front and rear areas are separated by a glass waterfall sign bearing the restaurant's name. We had an absolute outstanding server named Saige. My server was amazing as we (Im)patiently waited for him. I ordered the roasted beet tower to start. Finely diced marinated beets with a thin slice of goat cheese topped with mixed greens and a vinaigrette. This dish tasted so fresh! My husband's only complaint was chasing the tiny beets around the plate (first world problems) I chose to have a cup of their creamy chicken soup. No rice, no potato filler - cream based, fresh chicken mushrooms and carrots danced around my mouth. Topped with Gruyère (I think) each bite was like a rich warm hug from grandma Our entrees arrived in a timely manner - him having the ahi tuna poke bowl. He chose to substitute the rice for mixed greens. He devoured the entree and noted the tuna being sweet for the longer sear - his fault, he forgot to ask for it to be cooked extremely rare or done raw, poke style as it was to be a poke bowl which is typically served raw. I chose the harvest bowl. A base of rice and quinoa topped with Brussel sprouts, beets, greens, goat cheese, and butternut squash. I chose to add grilled shrimp. Holy cow. I felt like all of the vegetables were home grown from the chef's garden. Perfectly roasted and seasoned. An impressive rice/quinoa topped vegetable ratio exceeded all expectations!!!
