    Pretzel Bites and Corn Fritters
    Julia C.

Good spot! We went there a couple months back. The food was all delicious and well seasoned! We loved the spot being right in the middle of Davidson. The food was really good. Loved the corn crab fritters, definitely try those!! It is so fun too that you can do a beer flight. We went on a weeknight, and it was pretty quiet, but I imagine this spot is busy on the weekend.

    Lobster Risotto

Every thing we ordered was fresh delivered hot with excellent service. My partner had the lobster risotto that was very tasty and I had one of the best pork chop that was tender and juicy. Bothe dishes were served hot out of the kitchen! Chiefs did excellent cooking ‍

Pain Killer cocktail, with extra in a sidecar. The size was so generous!

Every meal I've ever had here has been good. Great central location in the middle of Davidson. Friend & I went in last Friday for appetizers & a cocktail before a play. She had prosecco; I had the delightful (& generous!) Pain Killer cocktail pictured. We ordered asparagus & goat cheese grits to share. Both were good, especially the goat cheese grits! In the past, have really enjoyed the salmon with quinoa, salads, burger, & steaks. I'll admit, can be a bit pricey, but it's downtown Davidson?- what do the other reviewers expect when they walk in the door? (IFKYK) Note- The couple next to us had a pair of smoked classic cocktails that looked/smelled amazing (can't remember what they were). They came out in a box ("chest") full of what was presumably smoking wood chips- divine. We will definitely try this next time. Also, these guys own Mandolino's Artisan Pizza across the street. Every pizza and salad I've ever tried there was excellent.

Taphouse burger with sweet potato fries

Strong 4 stars. This was a work lunch. Popped in for a quick bite because it was close by. First time visiting. We were able to get a seat fairly quickly. For me the menu is limited. They have great things just not a lot I am going to eat because I am not a seafood person and didn't want a salad. However, those sweet potato fries were soooooooooooo good! My colleague ordered hers with regular fries. Both our burgers well done. They nailed the cook. It was just cooked to well. Now I did find one pink spot but by that point I'd eaten 90% of the burger. And yes I surely did finish it! Shout out to our server! We never wanted for Diet Coke. I have got to do better remembering names! She checked in often. We asked for the check early and it was like she magically reappeared with it 10a later. A couple of weird things. The door. I don't know if this is a summer issue or installation issue. Maybe it will be corrected by the time you go but you have to pull hard to open the door. Like pull on it or you will think it's locked. Also, the music randomly increased in volume. It was at a good level the. All of a sudden it felt like 5:15 in a neighborhood bar. Maybe somebody's jam came on and they wanted to hear it? I touch too loud. The place got progressively crowded for lunch but it wasn't so loud that the music volume needed to be increased. No beers or cocktails for us. I did peel at the bar and it looks well appointed.

We were visiting Charlotte and Yelped it for dinner. We lucked out and found a gem of a place. When you walked in you could smell the delicious aroma from the grill. We made reservations via Yelp and were seated immediately. Our server Chelsea was as sweet as can be. We ordered an appetizer recommended by our server... Mussels! It was a huge bowl full. They came in a Thai flavored broth that had a little kick to it. I didn't think we could finish the entire bowl... But it was so good, that we did! Oh and it came with some breadsticks that were char grilled and so very good... Only wish it came with more! I ordered the Salmon. I asked Chelsea to be sure it was not overcooked. It came out a perfect medium. The parmesan risotto and bok choy that accompanied the Salmon was equally tasty. There was a foam on top that looked really cool but I couldn't say that it had a taste to it. My hubbie ordered the most expensive entree... The NY strip. The temperature was a perfect medium rare. It was served with creamy whipped potatoes. Yummy. It was fine dining in an unpretentious setting... Our kind of place. Thanks for making our visit worth the trip. Bravo to the chef. Kudos to Chelsea! Other: We found parking right behind the building. They have a good sized bar with a large drink selection.

Our 1st night in the Davidson area. We started with the pretzel bites - they were not dense but more light and salty. My husband loved the shrimp & grits and my salmon with risotto was amazing! My husband also raved about his Manhattan cocktail - best ever. Our waitress, Savannah, provided excellent service and was friendly and attentive. She even gave us recommendations on surrounding towns.

I made a stop in here late Saturday for lunch while I was in Davidson. The restaurant was not very busy and I was seated immediately. The lunch menu was small but had a good selection. I opted for the Salmon Quinoa bowl and a beer. The food came out fairly quickly - the dish was served cold with the exception of the salmon. I have to admit, this was one of the best preparations of salmon that I've had - crispy on the outside but not over cooked in the middle. I did end up taking off a star due to the price. My 16oz beer cost $16! It was a craft beer that was not rare and I can't think of the last time I've paid that price (other than maybe an athletic stadium). Typically a beer like that is $7-$8.

I absolutely loved everything about this place. We stopped in for a craft cocktail and sat at the bar. There was plenty of seating and the best part was the bartender Josh. He was genuinely friendly and suggested some special drinks. I ordered the pear martini (out of this world) and the mojito made with fresh mint. They use locally sourced ingredients wherever possible and the menu looked amazing, although we did not try anything. The whole feel inside was comfortable and friendly! This is a must try!

Snapper with chickpeas and broccolini - perfection!

Flatiron has joined our short list for Saturday dinner due to their consistently excellent food, service, and comfortable location. If you can get their deviled eggs with smoked salmon, DO IT! They serve four perfectly filled eggs with a savory (not sweet) deviled egg filling, tasting strongly of mustard and paprika. Yum! And the smoked salmon elevates the eggs like no other topping. It was amazing. Their Caesar salad is also worthy of a repeat. The homemade dressing and croutons elevate this salad, and it's large enough to share a little. On our last two visits, I had the snapper and sea bass dishes. I like that they rotate their seafood offerings based on availability. I appreciate that both dishes were low carb, but yet full of flavor. The meals were cooked perfectly, and the portions were perfect, too. My husband had their burger on one occasion, and it was juicy and cooked perfectly medium rare. Their fries are good, too! But their standout dish is the roast chicken. Last night, they served it with buttered rice and the most amazing brussels sprouts cooked in a savory broth. The chicken was topped with a sour cream drizzle, and was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The chef came by to see if my husband enjoyed the chicken, and told us they cook the chickens whole with lots of herbs to ensure the most juicy flavor. It was amazing! Service had always been wonderful at Flatiron. And the kitchen is efficient at ensuring the perfect timing between appetizers and entrees. I love the atmosphere at Flatiron, too. The building is gorgeous, and the tall ceilings and well-spaced tables make it very comfortable to eat there. And the blues music they played the last few visits was just wonderful. We can't wait to return!

For my entrée, I had the rigatoni with guanciale, English peas, and pecorino sardo--rich, balanced, and full of flavor without being heavy. A memorable meal all around.

Unlike other reviews, where the food, experience and service are reviewed, my family never had the opportunity to indulge as such. On April 7, 2026, I made reservations for my wife, mother-in-law and three others for May 10, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., Mother's Day. My wife and mother-in-law had been anxious to try out the restaurant, as they had heard through acquaintances that their food was very good. I made the reservations via Choplin's web site, which showed the restaurant's availability for that date and time. Over the four weeks between the date when I made the reservation and Mother's Day, I received numerous reminders of our reservation, including one on Saturday, May 9th, where I was asked to confirm our intent. Sunday, May 10th, we drove the hour to get to the restaurant, everyone excited to be trying a new dining experience. When we arrived, the parking lot was empty, which we thought was unusual for a restaurant on this occasion (Mother's Day). We got to the door and found the restaurant was closed. We could staff inside but clearly; they were not open for business. We tried calling but only received a message that the restaurant was closed and to call back. While we were fortunate enough to find a local favorite that was willing to accommodate us for Mother's Day (though they did not have any openings). On Monday, I called Choplin's, hoping to speak with their manager to find out why such an error was allowed to occur but no one answered the phone. Once again accessing Choplin's website, I emailed the restaurant, conveying our frustrations and the impact their lack of communication had on such a special day for my wife and mother (in-law). That was on May 11, 2026. There has been no follow-up from the restaurant of any type. I understand that Choplin's utilizes third party services to manage their reservations, but I also understand that it is the responsibility of the restaurant to manage that service and the reservations made by the service provider. The lack of response from Choplin's restaurant speaks volumes about how little they care about their customers. I will be sure to share my experience with others as I don't care how good your food may be, your lack of customer service and support tells me that I should seek one of the umpteen other high quality restaurants around the area to spend my money, where customer service is priority 1.

The chop was tender and flavorful and the carrots were 3 whole carrots that you had to cut up. Very different. The best part was the ancient grain side. So, so good. Nice compliment to the chop and carrots. I had to take half home it was just so much food. Next entree was the 7oz Filet with Parmesan mashed potatoes.
