I've been to this food truck a handful of times before covid but recently got a chance to eat here again when they came to my job. The service is always excellent and the owner and workers are friendly. The food is always flavorful and seasoned well. I ordered the jerk fries this time and they were really good. How did I not know this place was here until just a week ago? First of all, I love Creole/Cajun foods, so after finding out about this place, I literally drove here right away. Of course I have some positives and negatives about the space! Positives: * The food was absolutely flavorful and delicious! I ordered the Vodou Fries and their Savage Crabmich- all the flavors were overwhelmingly amazing! * Good amount of food * Convenient parking Negative: * Take-out only (Kinda)! They do have 2 seats, but space is small! * Fried foods are the best when fresh and crunchy! By the time you take it home, it may not be as crunchy! * My Soft shell crab in my crabmich was raw inside! (which is why I couldn't give my last star). I did fry it a bit longer at home and it was delicious though. The flavors were are all there once I put it back in the bun! * No public restrooms I can't wait to go back! My goal is to try everything on their menu! So far the Vodou Fries is my favorite! Vodou fries are not just fries, but is loaded with Jerk Chicken and Shrimp with their amazing house sauces! If you want some authentic creole food then look no further. No matter what you order you can't go wrong. You can tell everything they offer is scratch made. Their po boy that has catfish and shrimp will give you the best of both worlds. The fish is cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. The shrimp is juicy and plump and compliments the fish. They also have a great ratio of meat bread and toppings. Another favorite is their red beans and rice. You have not experienced good red beans until you have tried theirs. It goes really good with the po boy. The jerk fries will blow your mind! It's like an orgasm in your mouth, you can thank me later! I got a shrimp po boy from them and it was good. They served it to me faster than I was expecting and it was good. It was also fairly large; it had so many [fried] shrimp in it, almost every bite I took 1 or more shrimp fell out. So the food was good and I thought I got decent value for my money. They had a few other things on the menu that sounded good, so I might try one of those next time. I would recommend this food truck. read more

9 Mile Garden visit and Crooked Boot was the first Foodtruck on the row. With several po'boys to choose from, how could I not partake. I settled on the Catfish Po'boy which was a 9" roll, 2 sizable pieces of Catfish, lettuce, tomato and sauce. That first bite confirmed my hopes and yes, it was a great sandwich. The fish was beautifully seasoned, the bread was fresh and crisp lettuce. The sauce was a great accompaniment and I'd even suggest getting an extra side of it. Found the food truck and got some grub there. Tried to hit up their storefront, but they can't seem to find workers to staff it. Anyway, my crabwich (fried soft shell crab on a pretzel bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, and vudu sauce) was delicious. Sides of hush puppies and okra were good, if standard. They lady taking my order (owner?) was pleasant. She told me ow much the bill would be before the ran my card. I was a bit surprised by this, and she explained that some people like to know how much beforehand. Now that I thin about it, I believe some trucks do that and some don't. She also said that they cook the food to order, rather than beforehand, so it might take about ten minutes. I believe it actually only took about five, though. Based on some earlier reviews, it seems like they've learned from the past and have been improving their operations as they learn the business. read more

This place is truly a hidden gem and omg let me tell you the food is AMAZING! I ordered the OG Beignets, Voodoo Fries, Ayiti Bòl, & Red Beans & Geesh my family and I were in a food coma. The place is uniquely decorated with window seating only so you can stay and eat your food or take it with you. However it is carry out but the staff was so friendly when asked if we could eat there they said yes. If you're looking for authentic Creole cuisine and something different this is definitely the place to try. Oh they also have a food truck so we will be looking out for that as well. read more

The Crooked Boot is definitely a hidden gem. The staff is friendly and learned me by name/order. My go-to is the Voodoo Fries with extra shrimp. If you're in the mood for something different, try the Ayiti bowl with a piece of blacked catfish and the Haitian Akra. You won't be disappointed! read more

Visited their truck at the Macklind Market. What a find? They recommended the crab sandwich, which was fried soft shell crab on a roll with picketed onions, lettuce and tomato and their sauce. It was fantastic. The crab was perfectly seasoned and the proportions of the toppings and sauce was right on point. I also had the fried okra, which was some of the best I had. It had great seasoning but was even better with a little hot sauce. Can't wait to try it again. read more

Decided to try this truck for lunch at 9 mile garden. Very few people out today. I stood at the order door just kinda staring at the guy sitting in the doorway. Figured there'd be some sort of a Hi! or Can I take your order or maybe even a can I answer any questions for you?? Nope, just sat there. Who does this? Seems common sense to at least acknowledge when someone is in your personal space, let alone when you are the first face customers experience when attempting to place an order. Gives the impression you dont care or want my money. Anyway, after 4-5 awkward minutes I was about to say the hell with it and go to a different truck when the lady sitting in the driver seat (assuming the owner based on pics online) acknowledged my presence and asked for my order. Albeit while quasi climbing over the guy still just sitting in the doorway twiddling his thumbs. Got a voodoo burger and fried okra. Was impressed when asked how I wanted my burger cooked (normally not an option at a food truck) Not that it mattered much, I requested MW and got a well done burger. Tasted like your average burger sprinkled with Lawrys seasoning salt served on a pretzel bun with thin tomato and shredded lettuce. I've definitely had worse burgers, but nothing about this one stood out. Especially for $12. I will say the fried okra side was really tasty. But sadly thats not enough to make me seek out this truck if there are any other options available or to stop even if it is the only option. I will say the dude sitting in the door made me start laughing a bit when he started asking the lady in the truck for his portion of tips. Hard to understand anyone making you operation look so uncaring and laxidasical being deserving of tips for going above and beyond. Long story short, mediocre service, mediocre burger. We had mixed reviews on this truck. They had a hard time keeping up with the orders. The fish was not catfish and had a freezer taste to it, so I am going to assume that it was not fresh but frozen. The Vodoo/Gumbo fries became soggy because they would make them ahead of time and wait until the orders before them were completed instead of just calling them out to those that placed them. They ran out of food and despite providing people with tickets for food, they did not take them. They need to provide clarity regarding how they quote food. The sandwiches were $13 and did not come with a side. Never in the history of me ordering a sandwich, did they not come with at least a side and needless to say, the burgers were from frozen and looked nothing like the pictures on their website. When I originally booked, she said that the deposit would cover up to 90 people. We had less and ended up paying more money. Overall, we will not book again the price that were posted on their website did not reflect what we paid. read more
