I ordered shrimp and catfish and onion rings. The onion rings were very nice. Cooked perfectly crisp. The shrimp was overcooked and like rubber, very disappointing. The catfish was also overcooked and very disappointing. It doesn't say much for your meal when the two main dishes are not appetizing. Pops is my go to location for chicken. They have some of the best chicken I have ever tasted. Whenever I'm going to an event and need to bring food for the family my first thought is to go to Pops and get chicken. The prices are pretty decent. We had Pop's fried chicken, fries and hushpuppies. The plain batter reminds me of Cane's, which is pretty flavorless, but the strips are 3-4 times the size of canes. My husband had the sweet and spicey and son had the buffalo hot chicken. They chicken was all nice and tender. They were much more flavorful and my son ranks it the best in St Louis. The fries and hushpuppies were delicious. I was disappointed that the soda was canned, but they have a nice variety of unique flavors. The wait time was long as there was only one person in the kitchen. While the young ladies taking orders weee friendly they can only apologies for the wait so many times before people start getting agitated.
