Green beans, red beans and rice, fish and shrimp

My daughter and I went to Sami's for dinner. There were quite a few people dining in as well. My daughter ordered fish and fries and I got the fish and shrimp with green beans and the red beans and rice. Our food arrived fresh and hot. We actually had to wait for it to cool down some. Everything was so delicious and nicely seasoned. The fish and shrimp were lightly battered and flavorful. The green beans and red beans and rice were good and flavorful. It's a nice place for that seafood dinner. The prices were reasonable as well. Go give them a try. Delicious food.

Food to great! Lots of options and it is a lot of food for a good price! We will be coming back. They had really good mozzarella sticks! Their chicken was awesome!

We ended up here totally by accident because our original choice was closed on Monday and what a happy accident it was. Located in the old Pizza Hut building the restaurant is roomy and comfortable. They bring you a menu but you go up to the register to order. The food came out quickly and it was nice and hot. I had the gumbo with a side of fried shrimp and a catfish filet. Everything was perfectly cooked with their homemade cocktail sauce and tartar sauce stealing the show. The Mrs had a hamburger which she quickly proclaimed was better than Freddy's, she's also a big fan of the seasoned fries. Overall, very well done and we'll be back.

Crab cakes and fried okra. Perfectly golden okra and the crab cakes were tasty as well!

Stopped by as we were looking for a new place we had not been to. Sami's did not disappoint! Just a quick dinner in a no fuss environment was what we found. Greeted promptly and ordered within a few minutes of looking over the menu. Items ordered included the Gumbo Special, Catfish Nugget Dinner and for an appetizer we order the half order of the fried okra and two crabcakes. Can't say I have ever had better catfish nuggets! These were good size nuggets with an amazing seasoned breading and cooked perfectly. While most of these items were fried, there was no grease in the bottom of the serving baskets. The food did not leave your fingers feeling greasy and had the best breading and "crunch". There were sauces delivered to our table and these are made in house and all very good. Large portions as we could have shared, but then we wouldn't have been able to try multiple items! They also offer large quantity ordering too and the prices seemed great for those options too. Our waitress was amazing and attentive. Can't wait to return!

WOW!!! I haven't had great southern cooking like this since we moved out of Florida/Georgia...everything from the fried green tomatoes, fish, shrimp which I believe were gulf shrimp, red beans and rice, green beans, and chicken came out hot. We actually needed to let it cool off before eating. And topped it all off with sweet tea. The staff were very friendly and helpful when ordering. The restaurant was very clean and well laid out, not cramped. The restaurant rooms were a little dated but clean. We will definitely be back as everything we ordered was delicious and had just enough spice/heat to make you sweat a little. Highly recommended!!

We enjoyed trying this new to us restaurant. Food was made to order, so it was very hot and fresh. The ambiance is laid back and casual, staff was friendly. Their iced tea was really good and they give a huge generous cup! I am obsessed with the Dubai strawberries, to die for!

I've been trying to get here for awhile after all the raving reviews and I was not disappointed. Private parking, warm greeting and friendly faces awaited me as I walked in. Building nice and clean and spacious. Great condiments on the tables for dine in greatness satisfaction. I ordered the Sammy Special at $16.99 2 fish, 2 chicken, 2 shrimp and green beans and hush puppies for sides and a sweet lemonade. , everything was fantastic except the hush puppies ( too hard for my liking) . Staff brought food to our table, they were very attentive and had great attitudes. I will definitely be back to try more on this menu. Customer service was an 10!

I am adding this place in rotation as one of the neighborhood go to. The service was extremely kind and recommended a plate with fish, chicken tenders and shrimp. I really enjoyed the fish and shrimp. Everything was hot and fresh. There was a sauce that was absolutely delicious. I'm unsure the name of it, it looked like some special sauce that was included in the bag. The restaurant was well maintained and had a nice size crowd. I would recommend and attend again.

I've been wanting to go try Sami's for a while now, just waiting for the right time and finally we did. I heard of Sami's in Yelp (of course) and I love gumbo and fried chicken/fish, so why not try it. Our experience did not disappoint. We all loved the food we ordered and the wait time is not that long. The store on the outside looks really legit southern food restaurant, coming inside though is not that much, but it was clean and not overly crowded. I wish they would somehow update the inside to get that southern kitchen ambiance. I understand they just moved in from an existing fast food and who knows, with our experience that dinner it certainly will lead them to success. As I said I love gumbo.. I have a friend who cooks the best gumbo ever, very generous amount of ingredients that makes it very tasty and unforgettable. What we ordered is should be a good "go to" while waiting to have another of my friend's gumbo. It wasn't bad at all. The Gumbo meal came with 2 bowls of gumbo to share, and with shrimp and chicken it was the perfectly priced meal to get. Oh, it came with that bread too and we loved it. The gumbo meal does not come with the 2 sides so take note of that. We ordered also the #31, containing 3 fried fish, 3 fried shrimps, 3 fried chicken fingers and 2 sides. OH MY... we absolutely loved the fried fish! that's the best fried fish I've ever had, seriously... The seasoning was perfect for my taste bud.. dipped in their tartar sauce, makes this a real comfort food for me. The chicken fingers are HUMONGOUS!! I love eating at Raising Cane's and these chicken fingers just ousted them.. seriously.. I hope they stay that size though.. it's a perfect "to share" food.. The shrimp is just OK for me.. nothing too special, but then the coating is what I think stands out. Lastly, my wife wanted to try the green beans because she heard quite a lot of good reviews on them, but we didn't like it. It's not a deal breaker though, we'll just opt another side. It was too salty for us. Our order came with the sauces, and we love the tartar sauce.. There's another somewhat spicy sauce and it's good for the fries and shrimp as well. Overall this was a good experience and we're definitely coming back!

When the O'Fallon Sami's closed it moved into this former Pizza Hut and the plain, spartan dining room is not dressed to impressed. That's okay because the friendly service and made-to-order meals make Sami's stand out among other fast food places in this busy restaurant area. Inspired by Louisiana cooking, Sami's sandwich/seafood/chicken menu isn't overly spicy. Breaded catfish had a zesty black pepper seasoning that wasn't off-putting. And red beans and rice barely hit the heat scale. Entree pricing compares well to fast food and fast casual places. At Sami's you order at a counter and your meal is brought to your table. When I wanted a cola refill I had to request it at the counter because there was no table follow-up. Still, the service that existed was warm and friendly. My companion had had a child's meal here before and suggested one from the half dozen offerings. What a great value: two large fish filets and one side for about $8. I was more than satisfied by the portions. .

Very impressed with this place. Very clean inside and helpful cashier/server. We had the fried fish, gumbo, fried shrimp and red beans and rice. The fish was cooked perfectly, the gumbo was tasty and the red beans and rice had a nice smokey flavor. Portion sizes were ample and the pricing reasonable.

We were seated right away and the service was top notch. Waitress was always attentive. As for the food, well...... we over-ordered for sure because too many things looked good. I went to the restroom and i casually glanced at others patrons' plates. Some were just downright disgusting... Big ole crab legs hanging off the plate! Shrimp stacked so high it would almost fall off the plate. Huge plates! Pitiful i tell ya! I ordered the crawfish/shrimp ettouffee and it was different than any other i've ever had. My wife reminded me the menu says this was cajun food done St Louis style. My meal was great. Excellent flavor. The wife had some Cod and fried shrimp; again... on an over-filled plate. She had to give me a few pieces of it to help her out. My mother-in-law ordered Coconut shrimp, gave each of us a piece to taste and still had 6 BIG coconut shrimp left that she couldn't eat. If you're math-ing this, the plate had Twelve huge coconut shrimp with fries and some grilled corn. Add to all this a side of hush puppies cause my wife loves them and some cajun batter fried pickles for an appetizer, we had a ton of food. We have found a new place to go to. If you haven't tried this place, you should. I will definitely be back.

We were greeted and seated right away, which was a nice start to the evening. This was our first visit to this particular location, although we've dined a few times over the years at their Creve Coeur restaurant. Our server was also tending bar that evening. He was polite and attentive, although a bit soft-spoken, which made him a little difficult to hear at times in the busy restaurant. We started with drinks--my wife ordered her usual glass of Chardonnay, and I went with a Corona. For dinner, my wife chose the blackened red snapper tacos with green beans and beans and rice, while I ordered the seaside combo with cod and shrimp, served with green beans and potato wedges. Our food arrived in about 25 minutes, and everything tasted very good. My wife especially kept talking about how flavorful the red snapper tacos were. The seafood tasted fresh, and the sides complemented the meals nicely. Overall, both the service and food made for a very enjoyable evening. The only downside was the price, as the dishes are definitely on the higher side. Still, with seafood being shipped in from the coast/gulf, that's somewhat understandable. All in all, it was a good dining experience, and we'd consider coming back again for another date night.

Coastal Hour Crispy Rock Shrimp as an appetizer, which is about 1/2 the dinner size and perfect as a starter or even as a meal with a soup or salad. Really nice breading on the shrimp, not too thick. It was a place I had always wanted to try, and the meal was a gift. I ordered takeout from their lot and arrived for pickup within 1 minute of their notifying me it was ready. The wait staff was quite pleasant and highly professional. I didn't want the food to cool, so I ate it right away while sitting in my car on their lot, facing the trees visible from the lot's northeast corner. The shadowy sunset-lit view was pleasant to behold. I had passed on having a drink and ordered their incredible Carrot Cake for dessert. It was a pleasantly dense chunk of cake, chocked with nuts, icing, and served with a small serving of custard sauce. Yummy, to say the least, so nothing to complain about there. Their Maine Lobster Bisque was a scrumptious starter that offered just enough pieces of sweet lobster. Their generous serving of biscuits was also tasty, but a bit too crunchy for me (most people probably love them). I thoroughly enjoyed their Whipped Potatoes and dove into the last dish with excitement. It was one that I often enjoy whenever I have ordered them at different places in town and around the country - their crab cakes. I had some crab cakes just a few months earlier at another establishment, where they were just mediocre. On every count except one, Bristol's had them beat. Given their cost, Bristol's Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes initially looked skimpy, but I got my money's worth of seafood because they were full of meat and were delicately seasoned. I dipped them in the remoulade, and they were quite good; yet, I suspect that the meat in one or both of the crab cakes was a bit undercooked. I felt a cautionary averse sensation when I took my first and second bites, but I explained it away. I couldn't accept my body telling me not to eat those great-smelling, great-looking crab cakes. I ate them while telling myself, 'No way would this reputable seafood eatery sell bad clams.' I finished the meal and felt fine through the night. I never had the full constellation of symptoms that usually go with food poisoning. Still, the next morning, I woke to a severe case of facial hives that spread to the lymph nodes in my neck with an additional lump on the outside of my right shoulder and on my left rear trapezius. My face felt like an over-inflated balloon. My vision was compromised by the squint deeply carved around my eyes by the tight, hard lumps that expanded my face and disfigured me. I had no fever, but I didn't feel like writing a review or taking pictures of myself until midnight. It was that second night when my symptoms improved, but they were still quite pronounced. I was grateful I had been protected by angels when I didn't have to go to the hospital with worse symptoms. Also, the medical staff would mistakenly have classified this incident as an allergic reaction, but I know I will eat crab cakes for the rest of my life. It wasn't the crab cake concept; it was those crab cakes. But what could have been the cause? One can have nasty symptoms in the first 30-60 minutes or within 1-48 hours with different kinds of shellfish poisoning, but that was not my experience. Google best explained the onset of my symptoms within 12-24 hours: "Typical for common bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus or Vibrio found in raw/undercooked crab." So, if you order this dish, I'm sure your meal will go well for most, but if your body gives you that slight, nauseating signal to return that dish to the cook, I hope you listen better than I did. Finally, I do not care to put my face on the internet to prove a point, but if the proprietors would like to see my 24-hour facial pictures, I will gladly share them to validate my "woe-is-me" tale.
