we have eaten there before & was satisfied, but yesterday 08-17-2019 we were sitting were we could see into the kitchen, we witnessed a waitress she had black leggings & a pinkish purple top & long black hair get into there fridg & take a container out it looked like it had chopped veggies for the salad in it & eat out of the container all the while licking her fingers then putting the lid back on it & putting it away also she cleaned up a table took dishes to the back came back out picked up another order & took it to a table, there was no way she had time to wash her hands after she handled the dirty dishes, I believe the health department needs to make a visit makes me wonder what else goes on back where they prepare the food, won't go back again!!! read more

The atmosphere is absolutely great! Food is good! Wish they had more of a selection. This is the 3rd time we been here, and the service is absolutely horrible! If it wasn't for Alex the hostess running her butt off! She got my water after asking waitress 3 times!She should definitely waitress! Get rid of the rest! Our waitress was Kourtney. They are completely clueless! And we ordered appetizers, And still waiting 40 minutes later...We were told they cook food ticket by ticket, so don't expect to get your app before your food! I am very disappointed in this place. The portions are big and the patio is great but the service is so terrible and the wait for the food is way too long. They had us seat ourselves which isn't a good idea cause no one came to the table for 10 min until I flagged someone down. It took her another 10 min to bring our drinks. The appetizer took another 30 min and was cold. The wings were over cooked and she never refilled our water cause she never came back. It wasn't that busy. There were empty tables everywhere on a beautiful July evening. This place could easily be the best place in the valley because of the patio and river view but they need to get the service in check and the kitchen needs more training. read more

A perfect place for a fantastic sandwich. The decor is very basic and sparse, but it doesn't need to be anything special due to the great view of the river. So tranquil and relaxing. But while the view is quite nice, the food is even better. The Philly Cheese Steak is gigantic and delicious. The bread alone is wonderful, but everything inside the sandwich is just as good. I also ordered a side of fries and was brought a huge portion that could be shared by two people. Much larger than expected. We were there for an early lunch and the service was just a bit slow, but when you're relaxing in front of the river with a great sandwich in front of you, you shouldn't be in a hurry to be heading anywhere else. We had a group of six for lunch today. The Philly cheese steak and burger had a horrible taste. One diner described it as "rancid" meat. When sent back to the kitchen, there was no response from the cook/chef!! Our $80+ Bill was credited $2.99!!!! I love this place i always eat here there is awesome service and good delicious food right on the OHIO river you can park your boat behind on the river at there dock its also got a bar but the crooked dock makes very good hamburger hotdogs and other things you might like. read more

No changing tables for diaper changes; which as a new mother, means they lose a star. But the food is good, drinks are cheap, and people are friendly. We love the open air seating options for nice days. Right on the river so even when it's warm there is always a nice breeze!! Portions are HUGE, and even splitting orders of fries or sandwiches, we still leave with leftovers. Overall a nice place! We've been going for years and will continue to. read more

Well, first trip there. My friends took us, because they enjoyed it the week before. First of all they serve pepsi products. Sorry I have never asked for a rum n Pepsi. Doesn't taste the same. Then I placed my order and asked if they could fry the peppers n onions a little longer. The gal said she can't ask the cooks to do this....... So I guess the cooks run the place. Ordered something else, so I would not upset the cook or put the server in a bad spot to even ask. While drinking my nasty Rum n Diet Pepsi, I noticed an extra ingredient in my drink. A nice fly, probably in the ice. So I informed the hostess and she had server bring me a bottle of beer. Forget the improper drink and the nasty little flies. Then later she informed me that she removed that mixed drink from my bill. Well wasn't that nice of her.. DUH ! On the brighter side, the food was average to good. Wasn't thrilled with the wings. Burger, Italian hoagie n broccoli bites were good. Service was sub-par, but got it done. Still tipped the gal 20%, because I am not sure she was the problem. I saw no managers around. Nice place to go eat with the family. Sits right on the Ohio River with a recently added outside bar. The food is always good, and price is acceptable. The salads are ENORMOUS. I have never seen anyone finish a salad on their own. They also have a good Philly Cheese Steak, which is also enormous, but you can get the same exact Philly at Hard Times in Wellsburg (same owner, same menu). I said this on my review for Hard Times, but I think the Philly is always better at Hard Times for some reason. Still one of my favorite restaurants. read more

Food and service are horrible. The owner sits at the bar and gets drunk without helping his employees when they are struggling.

This place looks like a dive when pulling up to it but trust me, you will be pleasantly surprised when you walk in. The place is clean and so are the restrooms( again pleasantly surprised). I was not impressed by there wings but the first time I went there and I got there lunch special and my sandwich was amazing!!! So worth a try... Contraband fries aka the best bacon and cheese fries around. Also the hoagies (which are huge by the way) are delish, mainly the steak philly. They seem to have cut back on the meat on some such as the ham and cheese. Be warned, if you order a salad ask for a take out container because they are the biggest salads I've ever seen read more

The service isn't bad (for the most part) and the food is decently good. We had heard bad things about the owner from the locals but never experienced it for ourself, until a seemingly drunk owner kicked us out and threatened to call the police in front of the entire bar. We used to LOVE coming here!! Could sit out in the breeze - look at the water etc. NOW- they've enclosed the bar area so it's now air conditioned, the north side of the bar has horrible tables in an area loud with music and tv's. The South side of the bar- the open side to the air and sun- was closed off because of bees. Really?? This whole big wonderful area where no one can sit as they can't control bugs?? We sat out doors at a table under umbrellas - and when we did flag down a server - we were told there was an hour long wait for food. Really? We will probably not be back. There's no point. We loved the openness of the bar, looking at the river, sitting in the outdoors and enjoying the friendliness of the other patrons. Now it's segmented and the reason's we loved this place - so hard to find in WV or PA - is now lost. It's like any other place even though they have one of the best out doors places!! They've forgotten what sets them apart!! They'll be busy without us as there's not that much around and the food is good - but I guess we have the ability to be mobile and can be choosy. Guess we're jus tSO VERY disappointed that when businesses think they're taking a step forward, they'r e taking a huge step back. We have been to the Crooked Dock several times. The food was always good and generous portions. This was the first time we had any type of problem. (and they were many). First of all, it was late afternoon, the place was pretty busy and the natives were all pretty drunk. Not just happy drunk but belligerent, obnoxious drunk. Getting served at the bar was difficult unless you were a local. Two guys standing on the deck, drinking beer and shots of ??, loud and arguing about some petty BS, dropping the F bomb every third word, chewing tobacco and spitting off the deck to the grass below. That wasn't bad enough. There were two guys sitting below that almost got bombed. They left. We were sitting near this scene but we were upwind. It still didn't stir my appetite. That was the good news. The bad news was that our waitress must have been part-time. I had to get our drinks and after she took our order she disappeared for 60 minutes. She blamed the delay on the kitchen.... said they put a hold on our order. ????? Too bad because I love the river and the activity. We paid our tab for what we ate and drank and left. Our meal is still "on hold". The boss better get a grip on the operation before all the customers he has left are the drunks who drive others away. We may go back sometime but not till my frustration wears off. read more

Have visited several times over the past 2 years and had good food and service. Always come by boat since they have very nice docks. Came to eat Saturday night 8/22/15 and ordered the Saturday special dinner (prime rib). Place was crowded and they announced that it would take an hour any food. Crowded or not an hour wait for food means that the place is too big for the kitchen. Really did mind the wait but food got to the table in 4 or 5 deliveries over at least 20 minutes. Some of us got our meal 20 minutes before others and with the sides coming before or after the main course by at least 15 minutes. Prime rib was grilled (weird) and super tough even though is was medium rare. Could not finish the last 30%. Waitress was nice. Came again Saturday 8/29/15 for lunch with a party of 15. Not crowded but girl told us that we could not pull any tables together so we had to sit separately. Told us that if we wanted to sit together we should have made reservations. Also told us that we could not get an umbrella from any of the empty tables for shade. Not only exceedingly rude but very stupid as well. We got a bit angry and soon witnessed another large group getting irritated by the same treatment. Food did come out close together and was good. Waitress was polite and good. Management needs a wake up call. You have a nice place and decent food most of the time. Treat customers with respect and they will return. read more
