Have eaten there many times and a stop as I rush off to a gate. Generally good service and great food, today was the exception. No server or bartender upon arrive, 5-7 minutes later they both come out from the back. After getting through the people in front of me who were also waiting, I was told to take a seat. I said we will board in about ten minutes are we good? Server said I usually tell people 10-15 minutes and just walked away. Actually I had time to wait, but being met with such a complacent attitude, walked away. Id highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast -- great food and service! We had a short time before our flight leaves, traveling with kids, and it was a great experience. We were debating going to the other breakfast options and decided to go the local craft kitchen + bar because it's always given us great service and tasty food. read more

I stopped by recently while waiting for my flight to NJ. I always ask myself, Why do you always get sucked in to having overpriced beers at airports? Then I answer, Because there is just something that hits different about a beer inside an airport. lol. Plus, I love craft beers :P This is your typical airport bar/restaurant. Nothing great, nothing special, but it does the job while waiting. I had a couple Founders All Day IPA's. Delish! I didn't eat anything, but their menu and food did look pretty decent. When your flight gets delayed, you've got two choices: wander the terminal aimlessly or find food and drink. Naturally, we chose the latter. Amy picked Local Craft Kitchen and Bar, and honestly, I wasn't too picky at that point. I started with a Hazy Little Thing IPA, which felt like the best beer option on the menu. Solid choice. Amy ordered a side salad and chicken quesadilla. She raved about the balsamic dressing, and the quesadilla was way bigger than we expected. Heads-up though: they charge for extras--$1 for salsa, $2 for guac. To be fair, the portions were generous, but worth noting so you're not surprised. I ordered a cup of chili and a chicken Caesar wrap with chips. The chili had a nice flavor, though I wouldn't have minded a little extra heat. Definitely a cup, not a bowl. The wrap was served warm--unexpected but tasty. It wasn't drowning in dressing, which is a win in my book. Only downside? As a self-declared homemade chip snob, the bag of Lay's felt like a bit of a letdown. Service was friendly and fast, which you always appreciate in an airport setting. Yes, it's typical overpriced airport food, but honestly, the quality was better than I anticipated. If I get delayed again, I'd come back. Delicious food and quick service. I had the North Shore Reuben, and it had plenty of corned beef and flavor! Very tasty. I also a plentiful side of hummus and pita. Needless to say, I left with more than my fill, and it was very good. Hummus and pita were delicious. I was served everything within 10 minutes of sitting down, which I appreciated, as my flight was leaving soon. Definitely check this place out if you're hungry before your flight! read more

We were happy to find a place that wasn't crowded while waiting for our flight. This is a cute little place with a nice bar and a decent menu. Our server was very sweet and quickly took our drink order. I settled on a French dip with chips. Our food came quickly and it looked great. The bun was toasted and the ingredients were perfect. Local's little airport eatery is one of my favorite places to grab a bite when traveling. Their space is cozy to say the least, so navigating it with a carry-on can be an interesting experience. But whenever I'm here the staff are fast and helpful, the kitchen is on-point, and the food and drink are great. Local offers a mix of soups, salads, and sandwiches, along with some recognizable comfort food appetizers. The quesadilla is one such appetizer, although it's really a meal in and of itself. I've even shared it with a travel buddy, because it and a salad left us full and happy. I've also had a chance to sample their portobello sandwich and Mr. Rodgers Grilled Cheese with tomato soup. These are all AMAZING. The grilled cheese with soup is the perfect thing to lift your spirits; and the portobello is a nice sandwich that offers a healthier alternative to the nachos and meat-heavy sandwiches. Great portions and flavor profiles mean that the food at Local never disappoints me; and a meal and a drink here always help me start my journey in a good mood. I'm glad I'm on Southwest this trip, otherwise I would not have found this place, right next to my gate at A3. I was in the mood for a good sandwich and a drink, and Local has it. I code the Yinzer deluxe sandwich, mainly for the ingredients, but when in Pittsburgh, anything "yinzer" is likely to represent. This sandwich does. Great combination of meats and cheese, toasted just right, so the cheese is soft but not sloppy, and the lettuce, tomato, and red onion are warm and still fresh, not wilted and limp. Great stuff. As a side I chose the coleslaw, because you can get chips anywhere. They make it with just the right balance of sweetness and tang, with fresh cabbage and creamy dressing. I recommend it. They had Helltown brown ale on tap. Not sure if it's on rotation or always here, but if that's your taste and they have it, you won't be disappointed. I may need my family in the area to track some down for me, it's that good. Dark, creamy, and rich. So as much as being in an airport is usually a nuisance, this spot has been a redeeming feature. I had high hopes for this place to get a break from the boring airport fare. Alas, it failed me. The place opened three weeks ago and I hope they figure things out. The menu is quite basic with sandwiches and salads. I'm not much into meat as of late and the three salads didn't sound appealing. I ordered a Portobello sandwich, no garlic mayo and a side of fruit. It came out and I scanned the sandwich. It had a healthy amount of greens and roasted peppers and mayo.... I pushed it aside. No one came. I flagged the attention of someone, who said they must have mixed up the order.... I ate the fruit cup while waiting. The fruit had been cut up for a bit, not the most fresh, but it'll do. After I finished the fruit, the remade sandwich arrived. It was clear less TLC was put into the remake. The mushrooms were quickly cooked and the water and oil wasn't filtered before placing onto the sandwich. Soggy mess. Tip: sandwiches include a side of chips or fruit. The chips were bags of chips. Hmm.... The only real local flare were the beers. Overall, I left hungry and disappointed. read more

There is nothing better than good food and ambiance while you're at the airport. The incredibly gentlemen at the bar helped me choose my drink and food and I'm happy to say that this place is a must go if you're looking for a good bite to eat. I ordered the Moscow mule. Delicious. For my main dish I ordered the chicken quesadillas, outstanding. The filling was delicious and the lettuce and sour cream on the side are a nice compliment to the subtle heat in the quesadilla. 10/10. read more

Another stop we had on our Yelp's passport tour was this place. For their sampling we had "Mr. Rogers" grilled cheese and tomato soup bisque. They used melted brie and apple for this sandwich. I must say it was fresh and different than what you would normally find in a grilled cheese sandwich. I really enjoyed it. The soup was very good as well. They are located in concourse A which may be a bit of a problem if your flight is not in that particular concourse. They have both table and bar service. Thumbs up on that grilled cheese. I stopped by here earlier today by myself for an early dinner. I had been looking forward to trying Local Craft ever since I saw their sign go up. My quick taste during a Yelp event only intrigued me more. It is located at PIT next to gate A3 and has seating both in the restaurant and some more outside in concourse. Inside there is a bar with 2 TVs, some free standing bar seating and then a couple more tables. In the concourse are more traditional tables with seating. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with the California Club sans tomato and then chose tomato bisque as my side for a $3 upcharge. The menu describes the California club as chicken, bacon, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, onion and Swiss cheese on Texas Toast with a side of garlic mayo. What sort of bothered me here were the upcharges for the sides and the actual price of them. You see you can get the Mac and cheese ala cart for $3 or pay $3 as your side. Similarly the soup is $3.50 ala cart but $3 as a side. I get paying more for them but not pretty much what you'd pay without the meal. I ended up getting my sandwich within a reasonable amount of time and bit into it. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. While the bacon and guacamole were quite good, the chicken was well over cooked. I am not saying a little bit here either as it was to the point where I couldn't bite through it on the bread which was just bizarre. Then the onion was partially cooked which means it still had that raw flavor but definitely wasn't raw. Was it supposed to be cooked and caramelized or just plain raw? I certainly wouldn't know. Last but not least was the bread for this sandwich which was advertised as Texas toast. It was neither thick or buttery, both of which I would associate with Texas toast. At least the soup here was good which was my meals saving grace. It had a nice tomato flavor to it and while not as smooth as I would have liked out of a bisque, I still enjoyed it. The bottom line for me is that I probably won't come back here again in the future for food. While I love their selection of local beers, this was easily the worst chicken that I have had in a restaurant in a very long time. read more

I love going here for Breakfast. It's the best food I have had in an airport, their prices are reasonable, staff is super kind.

I got to sample their Mister Rogers grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup as part of a Yelp tasting event. I myself was not a fan of the grilled cheese. To their credit, it was grilled perfectly, and super cheesy; I just didn't like the flavor combo. The tomato soup on the other hand was DELICIOUS!! It was umami on my tongue and actually made my mouth water when I was eating it. It was tangy and tomato-ey and fresh. I would eat a gallon of it! I also LOVE the exterior and interior of the restaurant. The lighted sign is modern and super chic, and the industrial decor is just awesome. I love that they put so much time and detail into the design because it blows the nearby eateries out of the water, and lends itself to a cool experience, on top of the food experience. I will be back because their food execution was perfect; I'd just order a different sandwich! :) read more

If this place was downtown it would be 5 star. The restaurant is good. They have a nice selection of beers and a Pittsburgh feel. The Mr. Rodgers grilled cheese and tomato soup are AMAZING. I if you are traveling through PIT airport it's worth a stop on a layover. However I took 2 stars because coming here just to visit this restaurant ...sucks. You have to park and this is going to take a while so plan at least 2 hours, go to the terminal show id and get a pass, then you go back through the terminal across the street and down the hall to TSA alternate check, metal detector, shoes off, Pat down, the you take a trolley ride to the terminal then you can walk through the mall to the restaurant. Takes about a half an hour. I did go to the Yelp event and know that they will be moving the terminal to make this easier but until then it's just not worth it for a lunch or dinner. read more

Get the California sandwich or don't. Someone else complained about the sandwich in another review - what do you really want from airport food at a severely under-utilized airport? Fine dining? I don't think so. Also, what's with the side of mayo? Is it supposed to go on the sandwich or be a dip for the chips? There are some things we'll just never know. I stopped by this place before my flight back to San Francisco on Thursday, 5/2. I stood there for a full 10 minutes - and neither of the two employees even so much as looked in my direction. I sat at an open table for a couple minutes hoping one of them would get the hint and hand me a menu. Nothing. Two other women came in after me and were also completely ignored. We were all looking at each other wondering what was going on. The waitress walked by me at least 3 times and didn't even turn in my direction. I left. So did the two ladies behind me. Ain't nobody got time to be ignored when they have a flight boarding in less than an hour. Clearly, they didn't want my business. If I could give zero stars, I would. Tried this place for the first time at the Yelp Elite Event at the PIT airport and tried the Mr Rogers Grilled Cheese and the tomato soup. This is a unique grilled cheese because it's made with Gouda and apples. I enjoyed it. Nice addition to the airport for a food option. read more
