We were seated right away. Our server was very friendly and almost immediately after we were seated, we were greeted by her taking our beverage orders. I opted for the lobster grilled cheese with the kettle chips. The sandwiches were really big, but it was very delicious. The lobster is slightly chilled and they add Swiss and cheddar cheese to it. It was very tasty. The chips were good. I definitely could've done with less chips as it felt like they were overtaking the plate. My husband got the Texas wings. Which had the Texas dry rub with a honey glaze over them. Kind of gave you a spicy and sweet take. He said they were very tasty. Well seasoned and well cooked. When our burgers were delivered our server claimed the kitchen made our burgers incorrectly- she either forgot to put it in or it had been sitting for quite sometime. Top burger bun was luke warm. Came here looking for a casual bite and left pretty satisfied overall. The service was good, our waitress was friendly and attentive, which always makes the experience better. The menu had some interesting sandwich and burger options at pretty decent price points. My husband ordered a burger and enjoyed it. I decided to try the lobster grilled cheese, which sounded too good to pass up. When it came out, the lobster was chilled and the cheese wasn't melted, which definitely caught me by surprise. Our waitress mentioned it was supposed to be melted, but since I'm not one to play roulette with sending food back, I just went ahead and ate it. Came here early evening for a relaxed dinner. The smell of the scratch kitchen was enough to bring me in! The bar is well stocked and the bartender was friendly about the specials on offer, and encouraged me to try one. I ended up trying the London Fog seasonal cocktail, which was Gin based, and I enjoyed it greatly. Once at a table, we were promptly greeted by our server and we put in an order for the sweet potato poutine, and while fantastic, my partner and I both commented that we wished there was more of a layering effort for the poutine in order to have the toppings more spread out instead of just on top. I got the espresso bourbon glazed filet, from the seasonal menu, my partner got the lobster grilled cheese with a side of the 6 cheese Mac and cheese, because that was the other item they really wanted to try, so it was a fantastic option to have as part of the premium sides. my filet was fantastic, I was super pleased with the temperature of my steak, as well as the flavors present, and the sides were cooked to perfection. My partner's lobster grilled cheese was great as well, it was disappearing so quickly I had to remind them to let me have a bite (they had stolen a bite of my filet as well... fair's fair, right?). I can also see why the 6 cheese Mac and cheese continues to be a crowd favorite, as the many cheeses used are well balanced to pack a lot of flavor. We visited on a fairly cold day, so though the outside had some heaters on, no one appeared to be sitting out there until the entire dining room was full, and quite a few came inside to stand at the bar and "warm up" for a few minutes, which was understandable. We went there with a group of about 20, with a reservation. The table was ready upon arrival. They quickly got us set up, brought beverages and then took orders. The restaurant was fairly busy and had a nice interior. The staff were nice. After ordering, the food came out at a decent time after ordering. But, then, there was a delay with my wife's order of shrimp and grits. Her order had to be gluten free and that may have delayed it. She loved her food and I ordered the Grouper Reuben. It came with homemade chips. The sandwich was excellent! I looked at other dishes and they also looked very nice. I asked for a side or a little more of the sauce that it comes with and the waitress said ok. Then I asked if there would be a charge for some extra sauce. She basically took a deep breath and acted like it was a big deal to bring it without a charge. I mean it's like bringing mustard or something, which normally would be free.. I did say thank you as she inferred that normally there is a charge. We have found this to be the case with most restaurants in Florida. You have to ask if any extras have a cost. I hate to be nickel and dimed in restaurants. I know they have rising costs due to tariffs (probably), but if they want to have consistent customers and not have a reputation for nickel and diming every person that makes a simple request, then maybe they should simply add a quarter to the cost on the menu to cover potential extras that people may request. Or maybe I'm cheap and shouldn't eat out where I cannot get what I want. Because that's sort of the message that's sent to me when I hear about .50 cents here or .75 there. We will definitely come back and try more things as long as they don't mind me trying to grab a bit more flavor here and there. If I didn't ask about the charge and found it out later, they would have gotten 3-4 stars from me. This time though, they did the right thing and they earned a 5 stars review. read more

Usually you can't go wrong when ordering anything from their menu. Unfortunately, for the past two visits their beer cheese fondue has been disgusting. The first time we thought it was just a bad batch, but now that it's happened a second time, looks like it's a pattern (the waitress even said it looked like sh!t). The super unfortunate part is when we brought it to the restaurant's attention, because we had eaten 2 of the 3 pretzels that are included with the fondue (it took that long to get someone's attention and the pretzels were good), the manager said they would only take 30% off of the price.... So we paid $10.50 for 3 pretzels..... Lesson learned - if we return, don't bother with the beer cheese fondue. read more

I came for their brunch and while what I got was delicious and seasonal- it was a fried green tomato sandwich with gouda, and egg, some veggies on jalapeño cornbread toast served with house chips. I have been to the Crooked spoon several times while out in Clermont. I originally went with a colleague and had a mahi sandwich that was absolutely out of this world. Typically, I come during the lunch rush and have always been tended to and taken care of. Service has always been top tier. My most recent experience I brought my husband during lunch. I ordered a coke, which was fresh and crisp - just how I like them. We ordered the 420 burger. I didn't get a chance to taste it, but my husband said that the sauce was really good and the burger itself was really well cooked. I ordered the shrimp tacos, which were delicious too. I'm not a huge fan of corn in any type of salsa, but this was overruled by the sweet flavor to it. The chips on the side were an added touch and I love a good crisp in a meal. The service was good but the food quality was very poor. We went for the Friday night prime rib. Over the years it has varied quite a bit. Last night it was tough and just not good. They apparently thought canned chicken okay for the lettuce wraps and a prepackaged, low quality solution for the lava cake dessert. There were few people there, so we assume the word is out. I met my sister at this hoppin restaurant near the crossroads of two main roadways and tried their famous 420 burger (sans pineapple chutney and cheese and with toast instead of brioche). The patty was compact and the flavor was good. They were accompanied by sweet potato fries - one of my go-to sides - which were delicious and they even had some honey for dipping. Yum! I even got to enjoy a yucca wedge and was surprised how it reminded me of a potato. Finally! I've had these fine folks bookmarked forever but they're 70 miles from my casa which is way too far for a quick lunch. I was in the area for other reasons and I'm a Gastropub aficionado so giddy with anticipation off I went! Arriving- They are in the Citrus Village Center. If you are familiar with the area, it's a maze of roads. Let your GPS do the work to avoid frustration. You'll find a nicely sized parking lot. You'll note the outside seating, but the view is the parking lot and I'm not a fan of that. Ambience- When most folks think of Gastropubs, they think lots of wood and probably a bit on the dark side. You'll get that here although near the entrance there is seating that is a little bit brighter. Classic Rock in the background at just the right volume. The bar is very nice. The fixtures and tables, chairs etc. are a little worn but it's likely by design as you get that nice comfy pub feel! There are a few TVs here so technically you could watch a game, but I wouldn't think of this as a sports bar. Keep thinking Gastropub with great beer and awesome food and you've come to the right place! Customer Service- I don't usually mention servers by name but Katie C. was 10 stars. She was just spectacular. When they finally figure out how to clone humans, put Katie C. on the list! Then we could enjoy Katie A., Katie B........... :-) Beer- A substantial list that's nicely arranged and with decent descriptions. I had 2 Jai Alai drafts which is a high ABV IPA @ $8 each. They were served in a perfectly chilled glass and professionally poured. Warning, two of these will definitely put a smile on your face! Food- My lunch was determined before I visited as I noticed they offered a house made pastrami sandwich on their website! From the menu, House cured & smoked pastrami, whole grain Dijon mustard, dill coleslaw, house pickles, Swiss, grilled marble rye @ $19. I added fries for $1.50. It was out quickly and perfection on a plate! Tender and bursting with flavor. All the ingredients worked together beautifully. The fries were nice and crispy. It was a wonderful lunch! I really don't understand this place? My mom and I went here for her birthday yesterday! We actually come here a lot. First off they have the best bartenders in Lake County. Hands-down. They definitely know how to make a drink. And they are very super nice. That's why you will always see the bar full of regulars. Shirley, Joy and Katie will definitely make you feel like home. All the servers we have had have been awesome as well. As for the food, this is definitely a restaurant that loves their specials and so do we. Actually, we prefer their specials over their menu. Not that their menu is not good. It is, but it's the same menu they've had for years. I'm always happy when I get anything on their specials menu. It changes every week. This restaurant has been a go-to for myself and my husband ever since we moved to Minneola. We are a few minutes away, and we love this place. The restaurant team is exceptionally nice and always have a recommendation for you. They are attentive and will keep your drinks fresh but give you space to eat and chill out. The restaurant itself has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a huge bar. There is a wide variety of beers on tap plus drink specials which rotate frequently. For the food, we've never had a bad meal there; it is exceptionally good food! Sandwiches are delicious (particularly the grouper Ruben), burgers are top notch (420 or Jacksons are our favs) and wings are awesome (standard or specials). Seven of us went and to 3 (me) of us it was our first time. Very interesting menu and all items made from scratch fresh ingredients. Our waitress for the evening was awesome. They have a regular menu, menu of the month and chalk board specials too. We had appetizers of their homemade chips covered with blue cheese ( not my favorite but many at the table raved about it) The other was hummus salad plater with pita. Loved that app. Main meals were chicken wings ( delicious but not enough to eat for price), grouper Reuben ( a winner), pastrami Reuben ( outstanding and delicious but skimpy meat portion), fried green tomatoe sandwich ( delicious veg option), meatloaf monthly special ( broccoli rabe too raw) and delicious dinner salads.
