Chantilly Lace is a beautiful place, and Porter & Sylvia, the proprietors, have done an amazing job with their bird-magnet gardens!

We wanted a convenient hotel to nearby Texas wineries and needed it to be pet-friendly. This…read moredefinitely fit the bill. We booked on-line and the room was ready for us in the afternoon when we checked in. The staff is so friendly. They answered all of our questions, helped with recommendations, and made it easy for us to enjoy the time. The best parts of this hotel are the outdoor pool area and the adjacent private "park." First, the pool is in the middle of the parking area and fully enclosed by hedges and pines that give privacy, shade, and almost the impression of being in Tuscany. The water was clean, cool and refreshing. The pergola at the pool does need to be mended (some of the slats were bending off). The other thing we really liked was the park area off to the side. There are picnic tables, grills, paths and many seating options. There is even a gazebo where you could sit around visiting and playing cards. At night, the entire area was lit up with crisscrossing strands of lights. It was a great place to walk our dog or hang out with friends. A nice unexpected oasis. There is breakfast included with the room. There are many options, both hot and cold (I didn't eat much there due to my food allergies) but I did enjoy the hot coffee and fresh fruit. There is also a coffee maker in the room with pods if you prefer to stay in your room. The room was very clean. We had a room with one king-sized bed. We made use of the refrigerator in the room (already cold) with a small freezer section. We also liked having a little couch and coffee table right there. There are the amenities that you'd expect, including microwave, hairdryer and ironing board. We slept soundly with no strange noises or interruptions. The only reason this review gets four stars instead of five stars is that the hotel is dated and in need of some updates. It wasn't a room that you'd necessarily want to just hang out it. However, if you are looking for a clean hotel very convenient to the wineries with space to spend time with friends or family, this is a good choice. We would definitely return!

I chose to ignore these reviews because of how nice the pictures were and the amount of good reviews about the service and the breakfast. Upon my arrival I found : 1. The lobby had a very musty smell 2. When arriving at room 109 I found multiple roach baits and boric acid powder sprinkled behind all the furniture. I found a small dead roach, confirming the previous reviews about pest issues. The pictures are hidden, but if you click the profiles of the people that have left the reviews about pests you will see the pictures. 3. There were hairs in the towels. 4. The bathroom had a very nasty odor. We tried to get refunded for the night but they were only able to check us out early and refund us for the following day. So I'm out $176 for a hotel that was in my opinion, uninhabitable. The front desk staff was very friendly and was apologetic about the condition of the room, but I would stay in a different hotel if you are looking at this one.

I was lucky enough to stay at Wrenwood Ranch for the first time last weekend with my husband and…read moretwo kids for a birthday getaway. It was a lovely stay from start to finish! Our cottage, the Tritch, had two separate bedrooms, and I appreciated the privacy and spaciousness it offered. The cottage came fully stocked with everything to cook on site, but the location is close enough to both Johnson City downtown and Hye, if you prefer to dine out, shop, or hit the wineries. The owners went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. They really thought of all of the little details, including providing fresh chicken eggs(!!), popcorn, ice cream, oatmeal, granola bars, and coffee and tea. There was a communal fire pit, which we enjoyed using at night, and an enclosed puppy park area for pet owners. They also have a beautiful event venue near the front of the property, if you are looking to celebrate something with our without on site lodging. There was an outdoor sitting area just outside of our cottage, where I was able to enjoy my morning beverage in nature. Last but not least, they included free wine tasting certificates in the cottage as an added bonus, score! The feel at Wrenwood Ranch is warm and welcoming, but the separate cottages give you as much privacy as you want. We went into Johnson City and Hye a few times over the course of the weekend, and we were never bored. Wrenwood Ranch is a hidden gem and a great value when you consider all of the extras they provide. We hope to come back and to send our friends your way!

When I showed up, I had serious reservations about staying, so I asked if I could see the room I reserved before paying. They said no. So I paid and went to check it out. I was the only car in the entire parking lot on a lovely fall weekend. The landscaping was completely non-existent and the pavement was cracked and full of potholes and weeds. The pool was horrid... The outside stairs were very rickety and I has serious doubts as to whether they would hold my weight. My room was small, dark, and dank, but it did look fairly clean. The bed was made up with sheets only. They looked clean as did the linens. It was temperature controlled by a small, loud window unit that was held into place with plywood. I went and got my money back. The clerk screamed at me for making her life miserable by asking for a refund. I stayed at a nearby Best Western. It met expectations, but it was the 3rd area hotel that I booked for the same one night stay...

What a nice surprise to find a clean property, and comfortable beds. Yeah, it is not the most up to date place, and it needs some cosmetic work but it wasn't bad at all. It also helped we didn't pay $300 a night like Fredericksburg hotels are charging. No bugs seen and my only complaint was the water was warm and not hot. It did have a well lit parking lot.
