We booked on-line and the room was ready for us in the afternoon when we checked in. The staff is so friendly. They answered all of our questions, helped with recommendations, and made it easy for us to enjoy the time. The best parts of this hotel are the outdoor pool area and the adjacent private "park." First, the pool is in the middle of the parking area and fully enclosed by hedges and pines that give privacy, shade, and almost the impression of being in Tuscany. The water was clean, cool and refreshing. The pergola at the pool does need to be mended (some of the slats were bending off). The other thing we really liked was the park area off to the side. There are picnic tables, grills, paths and many seating options. There is even a gazebo where you could sit around visiting and playing cards. At night, the entire area was lit up with crisscrossing strands of lights. It was a great place to walk our dog or hang out with friends. A nice unexpected oasis. There is breakfast included with the room. There are many options, both hot and cold (I didn't eat much there due to my food allergies) but I did enjoy the hot coffee and fresh fruit. There is also a coffee maker in the room with pods if you prefer to stay in your room. The room was very clean. We had a room with one king-sized bed. We made use of the refrigerator in the room (already cold) with a small freezer section. We also liked having a little couch and coffee table right there. There are the amenities that you'd expect, including microwave, hairdryer and ironing board. We slept soundly with no strange noises or interruptions. The only reason this review gets four stars instead of five stars is that the hotel is dated and in need of some updates. It wasn't a room that you'd necessarily want to just hang out it. However, if you are looking for a clean hotel very convenient to the wineries with space to spend time with friends or family, this is a good choice. We would definitely return!

Unfortunately I saw others leaving negative reviews about the cleanliness of rooms and pest control…read moreissues. I chose to ignore these reviews because of how nice the pictures were and the amount of good reviews about the service and the breakfast. Upon my arrival I found : 1. The lobby had a very musty smell 2. When arriving at room 109 I found multiple roach baits and boric acid powder sprinkled behind all the furniture. I found a small dead roach, confirming the previous reviews about pest issues. The pictures are hidden, but if you click the profiles of the people that have left the reviews about pests you will see the pictures. 3. There were hairs in the towels. 4. The bathroom had a very nasty odor. We tried to get refunded for the night but they were only able to check us out early and refund us for the following day. So I'm out $176 for a hotel that was in my opinion, uninhabitable. The front desk staff was very friendly and was apologetic about the condition of the room, but I would stay in a different hotel if you are looking at this one.

After finding a couple of places closed, we called Barons Creekside. Best thing we ever did! We spoke to Lasca, who was actually out with her family for dinner Despite this, she got us set up in the cutest farmhouse, gave us directions and instructions to get in, and after her dinner was over, she stopped by to check if we needed anything. The excellent service did did not stop there. We were treated like family, and we really enjoyed walking the beautiful, scenic grounds and hanging out at "The Club" on property! Next time we go to Fredericksburg, we know where we will stay - at Barons Creekside!

Last night I bought a bottle of bourbon barrel wine & hubby bought a 6pk of their beer & we played dominoes in the common area. This morning I went looking for lip balm & the store had just what I needed - local & only $3. The on-site restaurant is phenomenal. We had burger & fries and margarita pizza while listening to live music. The villas are cozy & the beds are better than mine at home. Even though we live 4 hours away, we joined the wine club for the perks. Worth giving this place a try!!!!

The restaurant wasn't busy at all. We're very patient and would have appreciated even a simple "We'll be right with you." Instead, watching another table receive service before ours was frustrating and unacceptable. Our server was a tall young man with longer hair and an accent. He seemed to spend more time walking around than actually attending our table. This was our family's last dinner together and it was sad to see such a gorgeous place make us feel like we didn't matter. Based on this experience, I won't be recommending this restaurant or returning. I can't say anything about the resort or wine itself, but if we were treated this way at the restaurant I wouldn't like to see how they treat actual guests if you don't meet their expectations.

It's in a great and safe area with an amazing view and right by a castle winery next door! First off, going into the room, it was so much bigger than expected! The decor was absolutely modern and cute, but most importantly super clean! If you're patio door was facing the towards the Fredricksburg direction, you get lucky to watch the sunset views along with a few cows in the distance. Such peaceful and beautiful views. If you didn't get the sunset rooms, I was able to watch the sunset from the hot tub which was also very clean! I loved that there is a little secret (not so secret) path that connects you straight to the castle winery!!! Perfect idea for a girls winery weekend especially if you rather play it safe and not drive, just grab drinks and food next door and walk back to the hotel and enjoy the pool! Honestly it was a great choice, we went to the garrison brothers distillery which is 10 mins from this hotel as well which is also a great thing to have nearby. Will definitely tell others about this place. Loved it!

Our cottage, the Tritch, had two separate bedrooms, and I appreciated the privacy and spaciousness it offered. The cottage came fully stocked with everything to cook on site, but the location is close enough to both Johnson City downtown and Hye, if you prefer to dine out, shop, or hit the wineries. The owners went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. They really thought of all of the little details, including providing fresh chicken eggs(!!), popcorn, ice cream, oatmeal, granola bars, and coffee and tea. There was a communal fire pit, which we enjoyed using at night, and an enclosed puppy park area for pet owners. They also have a beautiful event venue near the front of the property, if you are looking to celebrate something with our without on site lodging. There was an outdoor sitting area just outside of our cottage, where I was able to enjoy my morning beverage in nature. Last but not least, they included free wine tasting certificates in the cottage as an added bonus, score! The feel at Wrenwood Ranch is warm and welcoming, but the separate cottages give you as much privacy as you want. We went into Johnson City and Hye a few times over the course of the weekend, and we were never bored. Wrenwood Ranch is a hidden gem and a great value when you consider all of the extras they provide. We hope to come back and to send our friends your way!
