You're right at National Harbor, so everything is walkable....restaurants, shops, the waterfront. It made the trip feel easy and low stress. I will say, while the suite is spacious and comfortable. They have made renovations but some areas could use a little updating. Things like the countertops and faucets felt a bit dated compared to everything else. Not a dealbreaker at all, just something you notice. There is a daily parking fee that guests are responsible for, $25 a day. Service was good overall, staff was friendly and check-in/check-out was smooth. All in all, I'd stay here again. Great for families, great location, and the extra space really makes the difference for a longer stay.

Room was well maintained. Property is clean and inviting. Many activities and daily events. They have an indoor and outdoor pool. They have a large hot tub, corn hole, outdoor electric fireplace with TV, lounge chairs with umbrellas. There have an activities center. It has a pool table, ping-pong, table, foosball, Pac-Man arcade, Lego room, theater, board game room, and video game room. Plenty of things to keep the kids busy.

From its broken toilet and prehistoric AC Unit to cigarette burned bedspreads, my room was something right out of a Martin Scorsese film. I quickly took an inventory of the items in the room that broken and poorly repaired, and realized that not only was this a setting for a mob hit, but a comedy as well: The AC unit had an extension cord running into the bathroom and would cut off if you turned the bathroom light off. The wooden flooring was missing a large chunk. The refrigerator leaked and stopped working mid-stay The front curtain was a bedsheet, allowing streetlight to cascade in. Cigarette burns on bedsheets Missing towel rack Missing handle on toilet, replaced with an old phone charging cable. A somewhat sketchy route 1 area, reminiscent of the movie Barfly or Mean Streets... ok, maybe not quite that bad, but you get the idea. With all this in mind, I was at first baffled as to how this place still had a 3.5 rating until I checked the dates of its reviews. It seems that 7 to 9 years ago it racked a number of 5 star reviews, with customers using words such as charming, quaint, and love. I can only surmise that it must have changed ownership and fell into disrepair. However, it is not all bad news. I did find some good things that saved this place from the abyss 1 star hood. The people working the front desk were nice and tried to help you out. It was clean. It didn't have any bedbugs. And finally, I wasn't murdered. All that being said I hold no malice for this wounded soldier of a motel. There is a sort of charm in its despair; it's like broken down boxer that with a Rocky-like work might deserve another shot at the title.

When my sister responded that she could make the show I immediately looked for a hotel in Old Town Alexandria (VA). I've lived in Alexandria for 14 years and believe we're well served by the hotels operating locally. Because she would be arriving from New York on Amtrak, I looked for hotels in Alexandria that are within walking distance of the King Street Metro station. There's an Embassy Suites, a Hampton Inn, a Hilton, and a Hyatt Centric, all within a five-minute walk from the Metro station. Right from the start the experience was a good one. My reservation was quickly recognized, as was my membership in the World of Hyatt, Hyatt's loyalty program. I was able to cover the cost of two nights ($580.92, including taxes, total for the two nights) when I checked my sister into the hotel. The hotel is perfectly located for using the Metro bus and rail lines (a five minute walk to Metro's Yellow and Blue lines and bus lines) - including the bus that will take you across the river to the MGM Grand Hotel in Oxon Hill, Maryland. There's also a free bus and trolley circulator and free DASH buses that all share a bus stop directly across the street from the hotel. The bar is well stocked and staffed by friendly and courteous bar staff. There's a valet service (best to check first about the cost - I think it was $45 per night but I didn't need it so I'm not sure I have the price right). The Hyatt Centric Old Town is probably the newest of the national brand hotels located near the King Street Metro station. It's clean, reasonably priced for the area, and as far as I can tell it's a safe and secure option for visitors to the DMV (District, Maryland, and Virginia).

I prepaid for my stay through the Capital One travel portal and was told incidentals would be $50/day. I also used valet parking at $45/day, which I had no issue paying. Unfortunately, the problems started at checkout. On Sunday, August 30, I noticed three separate charges totaling $266 on my card. I questioned the front desk because my room was already prepaid. I was told the charges should drop off and that I should call back if they didn't. I was also emailed a receipt showing the $266 as a charge, which was confusing. Two days later, the full $266 posted to my card, so I called the hotel. The employee acknowledged the issue and said a manager would need to process the refund. I was told to give it until Friday. When I still hadn't received the credit, I called again and eventually spoke with manager Felipe, who said he would pass it to the evening manager to process. The refund finally appeared on Monday, September 7, several days after I first reported the issue. What was most disappointing was having to repeatedly follow up on a charge that should never have been made in the first place. I also asked if they would consider waiving valet as a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience. I completely understood that I had used the valet and was originally willing to pay for it but after having to spend several days chasing down an incorrect charge, I thought a small concession of even one day would have been reasonable. That request was declined. This was actually my second stay at this hotel and I experienced billing issues both times. The first time, the issue was corrected quickly but this time the process was much more frustrating. The hotel itself is clean and conveniently located but accurate billing and proactive customer service are important to me. I shouldn't have to repeatedly contact a hotel to get an incorrect charge reversed. I hope management puts better processes in place to prevent these issues from happening to future guests. Unfortunately, because of my repeated billing experiences, I would not stay here again.

Let's just say I was pleasantly surprised and may have found my permanent hotel when in the DC/VA area. The space is gorgeous! A movie theater inside that guests can use, Pilates classes, gorgeous coffee shop, and dining area, Amira (sp) was the sweetest ever. She made you feel as though you were the only guest in the hotel when you arrived. She showed you around and described all the amenities and even gave an elite gift at my check in. My room was amazing. I travel several times a month for work and this may be my fave. My room was super spacious and the bathroom, shower was so large. Loved the mini bar in my room and the nespresso machine. Also had several snacks for purchase. My bed was cozy and overall-just an amazing stay! Just wish I could have stayed longer.

I found the lighted panel by the door to be very bright in the middle of the night -- shining like a beacon -- summoning me from the depths of slumber. But otherwise, the bed was cool (ALX temps in the 90s), comfortable and luxurious. A little stingy with the towels, but I didn't ring for more. Great location just steps away from King Street and shops and restaurants. We dined at Kiln, but sadly did not get a chance to experience the speakeasy nor the rooftop bar. (Our bad fortune). Valet parking only. Would come back my next time in ALX.

The people who run this hotel make you feel like you are important and they want you to stay without squeezing every penny from clients by adding extra costs. Old Town, Alexandria, is charming with several small museums, lots of boutiques and small shops, and great food. The people are not so friendly, but the service sector makes up for that. Additionally, the trolley and buses are free, and the Metro is close by.

It has been renovated. It has some satisfactory and less than satisfactory attributes. At first appearance, it seems like a nice hotel hidden within the trees and foliage. The outer appearance and entrance areas of the hotel are clean and inviting. The basement where breakfast is served has large panorama windows and is well lit. Breakfast was very satisfactory for our in-laws. The usual free breakfast IHG provides. These were the satisfactory attributes of the hotel. The unsatisfactory attributes of the hotel: You can see signs of the original VOQ building despite renovations done to make it a hotel. There was a stained crack wall area by the hotel room. One of the elevator doors was out of order. The hotel room was so so yet looked satisfactory. No problems. Overall, we were not highly satisfied with this hotel. We decided that we would book our in laws in the other hotel on base.

I sat out on the balcony and enjoyed the view of the water while sipping my morning coffee. There were plenty of towels, shampoo and body wash, as well as cleaning supplies. As soon as I turned on the ice machine in the freezer, it started making lots of ice. The on-site manager, Warren, was friendly and accommodating. He made sure we had everything we needed. There is a swimming pool and 24-hour fitness center in the beautiful building. I hope to stay there again soon! Tip: Recommend that you get the reserved parking. It's $20 per day, self park, and you can come in and out as you please.
