On Thursday 4/20/23,I made a RESERVATION at the Cuban for my mother's 74th birthday. The RESERVATION was made for 9:30 pm on 4/29/23. I received my first confirmation by text. On Thursday 4/27/23, I called tp add 2 more guests to my party. I received another confirmation text at that time. Somebody called from the restaurant on the day of my RESERVATION to again confirm that my party was coming to the restaurant that evening.  I again received a text confirming that my table would be ready at 9:30. We arrived at the Cuban at 9:30 pm and checked in with the hostess. At 9:34 pm, I received a text telling me that my table was ready. My guests and I which included a 74 year old diabetic person, a pregnant person and a child were told that there was no table for us and we had to stand and wait. When I questioned why this was happening after I made a RESERVATION, the rude hostess kept telling me that RESERVATIONS do not guarantee a seat and seating is first come, first serve. I continued to question this and was approached by another rude hostess who insisted that we had to wait and asked if I would like to speak to a manager. The manager was just as rude and did not care to help us and insisted that we wait or go somewhere else. Unfortunately, I did not want to ruin my mother's birthday and we would not find anywhere else to eat in the area after driving for an hour and a half. We were eventually seated and then told that we had to have our orders into the kitchen within 5 minutes or no orders would be taken. This establishment was very nasty and rude to my guests and we will never SUPPORT them again! I assume that they will not give a damn because we were not Latinos! Blatant prejudice! NEVER again! Order the Classic Cuban, it's delicious! Drinks are also great and the live entertainment is just totally awesome, not something you'd expect to see in Suffolk but more so in Miami or Cuba. So fun! The Good, The Bad, The Ugly. The GOOD: Really cool atmosphere, good live music and girls dancing. good mojitos, delicious Empanadas and table side Guacamole. The BAD: The volume and noise in the place is way to loud. You actually have to scream at the person next to you and forget about talking to someone on the other side of the table because that's not happening. It took about 20 minutes to get 2 mojitos at the bar. The most expensive Seafood dish they have EL CAMPECHANA was not that good and came out lukewarm at best. Others at the table had the PAELLA CUBANA and said it was ok. The UGLY: the PLATO ILEGAL (Pork chop = dry and tasteless / chorizo=ok / chicken= possibly the worst I've ever had it was so dry and tasteless I actually can't believe they would send that out on a plate/ skirt steak = good but a little over done as well. The real star of the dish was the black beans and white rice that was actually very good. I like Cuban food. I might go back one day for mojitos, guacamole, empanadas and try a couple new apps but will not be having there main courses again. read more

I went with my family on Wednesday to celebrate my birthday but instead to celebrate i just want to pay and leave. As soon we seat we order the 2 burger for my boys so them we order our drinks, when she came back with the drink we was ready to order so we order 1 appetizers to share and 2 main course. Our drinks was good but the boys were hungry so we wait, them the food runner come with our entrees and side dishes but still waiting for the boys food and also waiting for our appetizers that never came. After 7min we was with our food on the table the burger came cold and fríes oily but they were hungry so the eat it but by that moment our food was cold also. The server never came to see how was everything and even the manager who was standing against the wall all the time show up to see how his costumers are. The food taste ok nothing out of this word and for the fast the food came to our table for sure was in a steam table sitting there who knows for how long. We don't even want to order anythingse, the only thing we want was paid the bill and go away so we have the dessert and my birthday candles in other place. Never again read more

My husband and I went into "The Cuban" early on a Saturday night. We were immediately served fresh rolls with delicious seasoned butter. The Mango Mojito I ordered was made with fresh mango and meddled mint. It was perfect. For dinner I had pulled pork that came with rice with beans and yuca fries. The meal was plentiful and very good. Hubby ordered the Cuban sandwich that came with yuca fries. It was very well made. Our waiter, Jack was extremely efficient and very friendly. We will definitely be back. Next time we are saving room for dessert! Definitely will be back. Great place to celebrate special occasions. read more

Ordered zeppoles...they sent me .25 dinner rolls...fried them and sprinkled powder sugar on them...when I called to complain the girl told us that they were dinner rolls freshly fried not baked...must have little elves pressing all the designs in those fresh dropped zeppoles (not baked) bullsh*t...im disgusted. This has been a place on my list to eat at since they have opened. Made an impromptu stop in after some back and forth with the guys. The menu is self explanatory, the table side made guacamole the fellas like (I'm personally not a fan). The empanadas were fresh and full of flavor. Our waitress was knowledgeable of the menu and was able to find something for everyone to enjoy for lunch. Was originally supposed to dine here with the fiancée but came here Saturday afternoon with my groomsmen. So to keep the peace in the house I brought her home a piece of the Tres Leche cake and all was right in the world. read more

Stopped by tonight for drinks with a girlfriend, unfortunately the best part of this place is the decor. When we walked in the two bartenders were fighting, there was st. Germaine listed in my drink recipe but none actually used in my drink, also listed was simple syrup which none was used but I did get a mouth full of sugar with my first sip. There was also a gentleman at the bar asking other patrons for drugs who I believe knew the manager and bartenders. I complained about all of these issues and the manager seemed not too care much. This disaster started with trying to make a dinner reservation for 7:15 on a Friday night. It took 5 phone calls to get the time correct. When we arrived, we were seated in the area with the loud live music. The waiter realized it was way too loud for us and offered to move us to a "quieter" area of the restaurant. It was not much quieter, but it was better. When the waitress came to take our drink order, I ordered a white wine spritzer which is a very simple drink, but the waitress didn't seem to understand what this was. My boyfriend ordered a Manhattan with a twist. She brought a glass of flat club soda and said my wine was coming in a minute from the bar (NEVER had a spritzer come In 2 separate drinks -was I to mix my own???) and my boyfriends Manhattan did not have a twist. We noticed another table of a younger couple get up and leave before their drinks even arrived. We ordered our dinner (2 different chicken dishes) from a young man and 5 minutes later our first waitress came and asked if we were ready to order dinner. We told her a young man had already taken our dinner order to which she replied, "Oh, ok". At this point 2 young ladies who were "Vegas showgirl" dancers with the band, started dancing by our table which did not leave much room without the dancers being right on top of us. . Our dinner arrived ... my boyfriends chicken was dry and mine just did not taste right. It was chewy and also dry. I didn't even finish my dinner and we did not have coffee or dessert. About 1/2 hour after we arrived home, I became violently ill from the chicken. It was a horrible experience from trying to make a reservation to having food poisoning. I normally do not write negative reviews because I give the benefit of a doubt that it can be an "off" night, but this was a disaster from the first phone call to make the reservation. Do not waste your time or money. This was a horrible experience... not 1 redeeming thing from the entire evening. I can't give less than 1 star, but it doesn't even deserve that !!! read more

yikes...I was excited to check this place out and had expectations based on them still being new and getting into the swing of things, however it was way worse than I anticipated. The decor is amazing, super cool atmosphere but the service was horrendous. And by horrendous, I mean non-existent. We sat at our table, received bread and then were never tended to again for over 30 minutes -- no drink order, no glance our way, nothing. The place was dead and there was a decent amount of staff so we were confused and decided to grab someone to get service. The waitress responded with "sorry that was probably my fault, another lady was out for my blood before". We were like ..............ok. ??? We got a round of mojitos -- they tasted like rubbing alcohol, borderline undrinkable. To start we got guacamole and plantain chips. The guacamole was ok but the plantain chips were *h o r r i b l e*. They tasted like they were sitting out of the fryer for hours and got stale, zero crunchiness and zero salt or seasoning. After that series of events, we decided to get the check and leave. We didn't get a "have a good night" or anything of the sort. So, once we signed the check, we booked it out of there and headed over to Del Fuego for some yummy food. Went to "The Cuban" in Patchouge last night for an early dinner. Arrived at 5:30 and got a table for 2 in about 10 minutes, not bad.. We were put in a corner sandwiched between a wall and another table of two. The tables were about 12 inches apart. The tables throughout the place were crammed in. It was impossible to move about the restaurant. They were pushing the PULPO A LA PARRILA appetizer which is a flaming dish of charred octopus prepared tableside. I watched the manager prepare the dish tableside next to us, he nearly burnt the hair off a patron on the table next to the folks who ordered it. ...Again the tables are too close. The wife and I ordered drinks, a Mojito and a beer. Drinks arrived 15 minutes later and the Mojito was lacking sugar. We asked the waitress for a packet of sugar to fix the drink, that didn't happen. Took it upon myself to go the bar and ask them to sweeten up the drink. The bar tender was very accomadating and prepared a fresh Mojito made properly with a sugar cane stick to boot. Now to the food..we ordered the EL CUBANO MIXTO for two as an appetizer, it was pretty skimpy and not as described. The deep fried Chorizo looked like 3 slices of pepperoni, the croqueta were more like mozzerella sticks. We ate it and said to ourselves hopefully the Black Angus Skirt Steaks we ordered will make up for it. Unfortunately the Steaks never arrived. Our waitress was now missing in action. We patiently waited for our entree's (we were starving at this point) but after 90 minutes with no food and our parking meter about to expire we asked for our check and left. The only positve out of this expierience is that we has a great Skirt Steak dinner at at Fax chicken in Farmingville 20 minutes later. We will not be returning to "The Cuban" in Patchouge again. read more

This place has been long awaited in town so I was pretty excited when it finally opened. I had dinner plans elsewhere but when my friend and I saw that it was open, we decided to check it out. The decor and aesthetic inside is really nice. The food is pretty pricey however and I'm just not sure the quality is there. We got a $45 sampler that apparently feeds 6 however there was hardly any food. I've gotten $30 share plates in nyc that left my boyfriend and I stuffed; this share plate left me hungry but not necessarily wanting more as the food was just so-so. The service was good and you can tell the staff is really trying to please the crowd and cater to each table as it's their first week but the overall vibe is loud and a bit obnoxious at times for what seems to be otherwise an attempt at an upscale atmosphere. read more

Well, this place just isn't going to last. The Patchogue restaurant scene is very cut throat and that's honestly what I felt like doing to myself while sitting in The Cuban waiting for what was to be a very disappointing experience. The price point is ridiculously high for such tiny, under-seasoned dishes that were obviously prepared by a very amateur kitchen team. All four of us at our table couldn't even finish our cocktails which for a menu description of "Patron, Cointreau and Grand Marnier" ended up being house tequila, bottled sour mix and a glass rimmed with an unexplained blue salt which proceeded to drip down the entire glass. Not to mention the lemon garnish (see pic) that looked like it was run over by the Uber that would hopefully take me far away from this place. read more

Best part of the experience was walking in to see the decor. Ordered an appetizer that we never got. I got the Cuban Sandwich (which is basically a shareable appetizer for $20). It was basically 2 tiny sliders with 1/2 a piece of ham, a tiny bit of pork, and one tiny pickle on what reminded me of a Hawaiian sweet roll. It comes with a side of fried yuca. They gave me 3 pieces. The sauce was tasteless (cold oil and chopped garlic). Our other meal, the first bite was ice cold (some crispy pork dish where they chopped the pork so small that you don't have to worry about choking...BUT at least the flavor of the pork once we got to a spot that was hot, was amazing). Our drinks came out when we were finishing our meal. Our waiter thought he charged us for the appetizer that we didn't get, his solution, I'll give you a dessert "on me". Not let me refund the money. Let me get you the food to go. He offered a "free" dessert in the place of something he thought he charged us for. The music was WAY too loud while the man was singing. The only time we could speak was when he stopped and they played other music. So disappointed. read more

I never leave a bad review. I want to leave positive ones always, but I called the Wednesday before Father's Day asking if they were taking brunch reservations. The lady said yes. So Father's Day comes and it's 11am and the place is empty. Cute set up BUT they hand us the menu and I asked for brunch. They tell me there is no brunch that day. SORRY, WHAT?! so we leave because I'm annoyed. Don't take a reservation for BRUNCH and not serve it. I won't go back and I won't recommend the place to anyone either. We ordered the Monday Dinner special 2 for $30 and the portions were so small (smaller than a lunch portion which is not worth the price). I was amused that there was only one piece of sweet plantain in my entree. Is there a shortage on plantains?. Our waiter was not attentive. My boyfriend's family and I ordered take-out this pst Sunday. The portion size of my entree for what I paid for it was so tiny, I was still hungry afterwards. My boyfriend's father requested that they make his dish was gluten-free (he has a severe gluten sensitivity). Well, apparently there was gluten in the sauce they used for the particular salmon dish he ordered. But instead of telling him about it, they simply gave him the dish without any sauce. She was snobby, gave us an attitude when OUR food was wrong, and gave us the wrong dessert after half our plates were missing for a while. The Cuban was fairly empty for Sunday brunch on a beautiful day. This was my first time visiting and last as they are requiring proof of vaccination from patrons. While this may seem like a COVID conscious move it is also a dangerous path for businesses to require "papers" from its patrons. I was SOOOO excited for this place to open and have been waiting MONTHS! The decor and ambiance is amazing, however I had a terrible experience with a bartender that I can certainly say that I will not be coming back here. I was waiting by the bar that is packed-I understand but the bartender had SPECIFICALLY ignored me and kept going to other customers around me when I was waiting first. She ignored me several times and made dead eye contact with me as I tried to place an order several times. I was so frustrated that I had my friend sitting at the table come and get her attention because I was waiting for over 15 minutes with her taking everyone but me. Finally she took my order with a NASTY attitude. The drinks-HA. I ordered a mojito and another beverage; BOTH was SO poorly made. Straight syrup. Thankfully, another bartender saw what I was experiences and attended to me. I asked her to try my drink after one sip and she made a face to the poorly made drink sharing a similar reaction to mine. She took my drink and made me a new one as the other bartender just nastily gave me the bill. I Have NEVER experienced such terrible service or experience with a bartender (Mariella). I want to begin by saying that I LOVE Spanish food and that I am a super easy going person, but I felt that I was treated very unfairly at this restaurant. My boyfriend and I ordered drinks and appetizers then asked the waiter for a suggestion for dinner. He suggested the "Juan Tanamera". We specifically told him that we didn't want too much food as we had already ordered appetizers. He urged us that it was a good option, so we went with it. When the food came out, it was cold and sweet... just not the Spanish flavor we expected. It was not authentic at all! The calamari was over fried and also cold. When the bill came, we learned that the "Juan Tanamera" was $100! We would not have minded this price if it actually tasted good, but it didn't. It was a total ripoff.
