We mentioned a birthday they charged us for a shot we didn't ask for. Overcharged us in our bill, added neighboring table orders on our bill.. had to go back up to collect a credit for their mistake. Looks like a great atmosphere and a great place to hangout and have dinner/drinks but steer clear. The service is awful, the girls are inattentive and too busy flirting with the manager on Friday night. The phone rings non stop until the manager had to tell the girls to answer the phone. Drinks sat empty for 10+ minutes while the girls discussed their breast's and hair in front of customers and with the male manager. Their specialty drinks are way too sweet and if you go simple and get a mojito it's watered down. Very uncomfortable and not worth a first chance if you're lucky enough to read this review first. Came here today for lunch with a friend and this is my second time here. The service is HORRIBLE just as is was the first time. When you walk in you are never greeted. The bartender was the only person when we first walked in and she said absolutely nothing, then a few others passed us and again, said nothing. They all seem to have attitudes and don't even crack a smile back at you. After we were seated we waited 10 minutes for someone to come over and take our drink order. She only spoke in Spanish when she approached the table, so I wasn't sure if she spoke English. The crab cake appetizer was over fried and the sauce it was smothered in on too was not good. The coconut shrimp were oily and greasy and were not crispy and crunchy as they should be. I got the lechoncito with white rice and beans and the white rice tasted old and had a funky taste. The $6.50 side of beans that I had to order separately I could count how many beans were in it. Overall, a not so good experience. The waitress never came back- someone else ran out our food and she got lost texting on her cell phone as I could see her from where we were sitting. I advised 8 were present the last two in route walking from lot....... she in turn said she couldn't seat us until we were all there and to let her know.... no problem..... about 6 minutes later the final 2 arrived and I advised hostess who in turn said they had to give the table away..... are you kidding? Never did she say I had less then 5 min or table would be lost.....nor did she call my name again to ask if everyone had arrived... she simply gave table away and said hopefully another 20 minutes or so another table would be available. We complained to head hostess (?) Explained our situation and she just advised we can't wait for people parking or walking....etc Really? Okay no help. Again 8 of us were there.....2 in route....and arrived minutes after our table was given away...... We waited almost another hour......10 of us! During this time one of our guest saw TWO tables up front that could have been put together to seat us but instead kept separate and other parties seated. At this point we were more than upset and spoke to manger... Explaining situation he asked how many were there initially.....etc....as my finance started speaking, he rudely interrupted saying can I speak, can I speak??? When he asked question in first place.... He was not apologetic at all..... just says hold on and walked up by hostess..... & came back to let's us know a table was just leaving and we would be seated. Another 10-15 minutes we're brought to the side room in a corner. It's now over 2 hours... half our party wanted to leave at that point. We tried to speak to manager again, no apology, nothing..... but his hand up in a dismissive manner as he walked away....wow!! We all agreed to just leave and advised hostess. It was a total waste of 2+ hours.... all because they wouldn't seat us with 8 people present and 2 walking in route!! No reason we should not have been seated!! Or told we had less then 5 minutes..... What it came down to is they could care less with amount of people waiting..... says a lot!! SO to be treated like that was extremely unprofessional!! Well, arrived for an early dinner( 4:30p), I was first to arrive- sat at the bar- only one bartender on- took several minutes to acknowledge my presence, she was having a conversation with a patron... I'll forgive that...my margarita was poured from a jug in front of me, but I will say it was tasty with a hint of orange. Was sitting at bar in front of bar condiments,( limes, mint, chopped fruit etc) and the uncovered limes were COVERED with fruit flies! A waiter brought it to the bartender's attention and I will say that the bartender did throw away entire container. Once all of my party arrived, ( only 4 of us) we were seated. The busboy? Was at the table immediately to fill our glasses with water. He was very nice. It then took a waitress 10 minutes to come to our table. I would totally understand this if the dining room was full- it was not. At least 5 wait staff were gathered talking at dining area entrance since my arrival... not busy at all. The waitress then takes our appetizer and entree orders all at once. The busboy? made our table side guacamole, which was ok, nothing to write home about. We also ordered empanadas which were outstanding. 2 of us ordered the Cubano sandwich and the other 2 ordered the short ribs. My daughter-in-law found a hair in her spinach. It was brought to the waitress's attention and a free meal was given. The consensus is that the entrees were delicious, minus the hair. In summary- service was horrendous but the food was good. On the fence if I would go back. Looking at the other reviews here on yelp- it seems this is not just a fluke- other people have had the same experiences. read more

Overall the experience was ok even taking COVID into consideration. The ambiance was nice except for the fact our table was away from the live music. What was odd was they have speakers throughout but we could barely hear the music. They had tv screens which were showing a baseball game which I'm ok with being a sports fan but was a awkward vibe for a Latino restaurant. Putting the band on the tv I think would have worked out much better. Being Cuban myself the food was mediocre at best. The drinks we're better then the food, but unfortunately we were limited with drinks apparently our food to drink ratio was off which I thought was absurd. I never heard that one before pre or post COVID. You would think they want you to order more given the prices. Aside from that we had a birthday in the group and they brought out a plate with Happy Birthday written on it and a candle sitting on whipped cream, this was laughable not even a piece of cake. Especially considering the size of our bill, you would think they would throw in a piece of cake for free or something. I understand businesses are struggling which is why we try and support them, but doesn't look like we will be going back to The Cuban anytime soon. EXTREMELY BAD SERVICE ON A SUNDAY AT 12 O'CLOCK IN THE AFTERNOON! Kids meals did not come complete according to menu and then they have the nerve to charge for extra bacon!! We were told they did not have sliced bread for the kids so they gave us extra rolls but then they serve one of the adult lunch with toast!! Why not the kids. The waiter we had couldn't take care of our table mainly because he was too slow so another woman comes over to at least take our orders. She was wonderful but no one ever came back to our table to see if we needed anymore drinks or if everything was alright. Had to call manager over twice. When add the 15% gratuity to my bill, I tell them I will take care of the tip because I want to make sure the woman gets the tip she only deserved. I was told they split the tips. I came here for my first time for my moms birthday. I have never experienced terrible service like I did last night. We were seated and nobody came to greet us and order our drinks until half an hour later AFTER I went up to the hostess and asked them to send someone over. We then waited another half an hour and still no drinks we had to go up again to check on our drinks because of how long it was taking. I ended up getting my drink after my food came and it looked rushed and wasn't filled to the top. Not only was the service terrible but they decided to add 20% gratuity on the bill with nothing taken off for their bad service. Let me start out by saying that my parents live in South Florida, home to some of the best Cuban food outside of Cuba. The food wasn't great but it wasn't terrible. I had the skirt steak, which came with rice and 3 small plantains. My husband had a Cuban sandwich. We both left hungry. During the sundown festival the owner of this establishment decided to battle against the kids from The Rock Underground music school in patchogue by setting up impossibly loud music that someone sang along with. The festival had told The Cuban they were NOT ALLOWED to have a stage. They took their frustrations out on the kids and It took the shine out of the performances that these school aged children worked so hard for. Unbelievably rude and out of touch. This is a kids and family festival, not a place to set up an outdoor club setting. Multiple complaints by parents of the kids who pay to have their kids in the school, complaints from the owner of the school and other owners of the neighboring businesses were met with complete inflexibility by the manager who screamed and yelled at parents and business owners. Tasteless, classless, and they are losing business. This group did not even play their own instruments for Christssakes. I honestly and truly do love this place, the atmosphere and the food but I have found that it is inconsistent. I have always gone on a weekend for dinner and its always packed, entirely though out and their is a dj. I have had a couple of times where I've waited up to a half an hour but never more then that, which given how busy they are I applaud them for that. The time always seems to go by pretty quick though since the bar is right up front and the staff really seems to keep up with the crowd. Honestly the staff is always awesome and everything comes out pretty quick. The flavor of the dishes have always been on point but I have had issues, for instance I get the paella cubana fairly often and I have had times where the rice is hard, a few times things have been over cooked. I don't so much blame them, I think the place is extremely busy and may be hard to keep up with. But anyways Nowww I'm going to tell you the best part, the FRESH BREAD and herb butter, to die for, the main reason I go, on my top 10 cravings, the reason I work, the reason I breathe no I'm serious. It's so soft and hot and slightly crispy and delicious, worth every carb. I love the guacamole and calamari, the bacalaitos are ok (I'm a hard critic on those thought because I believe my grandmother made the best ones ever and no ones can compare) ‍the shrimp cerviche is good but I didn't care at all for the fish or scallops cerviche. Both salmon dishes are delicious. I don't care so much for the Tostones, I feel like they are always over cooked and a bit expensive for the serving size. The black rice is everything. My biggest issue here is how loud the music is. Oh my god soooooooo annoying, the left side is a little better since it not right by the dj but Jesus so loud everywhere. I had a drink called la cueva which tasted like a spiked pink drink from Starbucks. My boyfriend's mango rum punch and mojito both packed a punch as well. Last, the empanadas came with three and you can pick from 5 fillings. We chose ropa vieja, Cubano which is just the Cuban sandwich as a filling, and shrimp. From the flaky crust to juicy filling, we loved every bite. It was so good that we ordered it again with two Cubans and one ground beef. One star for the nice bartender. My friend and I both ordered the Cuban sandwich. The sandwich barely had any pork on it, and the pork was dry. One little slice of ham and a tiny piece of cheese. My friend actually laughed when I showed her because the cheese was the size of a penny. I sent it back and they gave me extra pork and a greasy piece of melted cheese. You could see the oiliness on top. I don't know how this is considered authentic Cuban food. The next day and here I am sick to my stomach after being up all night with stomach pains and nausea. I came here with friends for a bottomless Sunday brunch. The atmosphere was incredible and the champagne punch was delicious. We were very excited until we got our food. The food was not good at all. My friends poached eggs were hard boiled. We asked for new poached eggs and showed the waitress that the ones we had were hard boiled. She brought back new "poached" eggs and they were the same as the first batch. The ham looked like cold cut ham from a cafeteria and the steak and eggs was nothing special with no seasoning. The waitress took down my order without saying anything to me about this. When the sides came out they brought me home fries. My dish already had home fries with it so I told the waitress I had ordered hash browns as a side not home fries. She then told me they didn't have hash browns. I was annoyed she didn't tell me this when I first placed my order because I didn't want more home fries. She then proceeded to charge me for the home fries even though I told her I did not want a side of home fries since I got home fries with my meal. She did not take the home fries off of my bill.
