Specialty drinks that are super cheap and a bunch of pool tables with well maintained equipment. Probably the definitive pool bar in STL

When did The Cue open up? I absolutely love this place, it has a great atmosphere, amazing drinks, and very well made pool tables that me and my friends used to play. I'm doing my project based on The Cue and this the only other question I have here.

I believe it's been open about 11-12 years now.

Walk in and there are plenty of tables, a couple of gathering areas, standing room narrow tables, an outdoor area, and a room off to the side. I went for the Logboat Dark Matter which I have had before in a can and wanted to try on draft. I enjoyed it very much. You know what is great?! Since they don't have food, you can bring it in yourself. Both times our group has met up here Katie's Pizza is the choice and its in the same parking lot. You can't go wrong with Katie's. Bartender is on the ball and friendly, TV's all around, not too loud so you can talk. Wednesday nights they have Trivia and I stayed for the first round, it was very current for the current event category. Get a pizza from Katie's, go here, have a beer, have fun!

Lively atmosphere, bartenders were welcoming and interactive. We ordered the Hot Cheese curds as an appetizer, and I got the Obscura as me beer of choice. Not going to lie, the cheese curds were as advertised! They were hot! Not so much that I couldn't handle but don't take them lightly, they are good. They came drizzled with a good ranch. The beer was great, especially with the hot cheese curds. Ordered the Friday Fish Sando with no cheese. Came out in a timely manner, large and crispy! It was messy in the best way. Crispy, beer battered cod, lettuce, and house made tarter. It was juicy on the inside with none of the batter mush you can sometimes get with fried fish, loved the house made tarter, all-around great sandwich. The fries were on point, too. We were seated with our wonderful server, Nina (I believe). She was friendly, chatty, and very knowledgeable about the menu and restaurant itself. My dad and I started with drinks off the cocktail menu...I got a spicy marg (I don't remember the exact name), and he got a traditional margarita. My spicy marg was fabulous! It had a little heat, but it wasn't overwhelming. My dad unfortunately had a mix-up with his drink, but once we let Nina know, she happily made him the right one. It was also delicious! For food, we had the chicken wings, which were incredible!!!! They're crispy, spicy, delicious, and they will absolutely be devoured again someday soon. We also had a house side salad and split the hot dog. The hot dog deserves an entire post of its own. Holy smokes. It is crunchy, smoky, juicy, sweet, deliciousness....if you are a hot dog fan, you HAVE to try this. I will absolutely be back to try their french onion soup and grilled cheese on a cooler day. That's a threat and a promise.

I was honestly surprised at how busy it was when we arrived at 4pm on a Thursday. I wasn't expecting that kind of crowd, but thankfully I had made a reservation, so we were able to get seated right away. As much as I would've loved to sit on the patio, it didn't look like anything was available, although if you can snag a patio table, I'd definitely recommend it. Inside was packed, with quite a few larger groups as well. Our table was right in the middle of the restaurant, so we had a good view of everything going on. It was loud, but in a fun, lively way. Our server was really friendly and quick. She checked in on us often and gave some helpful recommendations. We ordered drinks and a couple of apps to share, and she left us a full bottle of cold water, which was such a nice touch. We got the pretzel monkey bread, french fries (the best) and the artichoke bean dip. We weren't planning to stay for dinner, just wanted some snacks. The food came out fast and honestly looked too good to wait on. I loved the monkey bread, the pretzel bites had a great crisp to them, and the sauces they served with it were really good. The bean dip was good too, just not as much my thing since I'm not a big fan of dill, so I left most of that for everyone else. Once we wrapped up, we were able to split the check and head out pretty quickly. I really appreciate places that still make it easy to split checks, and even more when you can just pay right at the table with those handheld POS devices.

British Bar INSIDE a "British designed hotel", so I had my hopes probably heightened more that it should have with my previous British bar results. I went in thinking British craziness and got a "Edgar Allen Poe" feel... But I'm going to say this was NOT what I was expecting. First and foremost, your eyes are going to need adjusting. Plain and simple, it felt more like a dark ... room? (Part of the problem I think is that as it was already June, you can forget using the fireplace to lighten the room up) so it felt.. "Small", and I"m going to feel weird saying this... "Romantic Horrorfest". Wait, before you go "wha??", this isnt' necessarily a bad thing. The Taxidermy , the photos on the wall. the fireplace. the VERY (and I mean VERY) dim lighting... The limited seating on the main floor, the one door in and out it had a "wooden cabin feel".. Yes, if you had a wonderful romantic film and it was suddenly invaded by some monster villain... This where it would take place and it would be perfect. (See I can find positive things to say about things i wasn't looking for) As for the service, apparently (going back to the Romantic filmfest), I was struggling to get any attention for the bartendress, cause I guess I was solo'ing by myself, and because of how I wasn't able to get the bartendress attention... I kinda felt like an unwanted customer in a place more for couples or friends getting together which had me leaving shortly thereafter, so no real food score (although I will say, much like Oh London ,the menu wasn't really much to work through...), Anyway, no TV's, no world cup game on the air.. just like I said a vibe of a cabin in a "romantic movie, where the monsters lurk". And Apologies for some of the iffy pictures, it just didn't feel right using a flash on the camera in such a secluded locale) and like I said, it wasnt' what I was expecting (rowdy British fans watching the local club or something), but there's something about it that even i have to admit, would make this location a nice "date night" or "out with friends' location, more so than just a single person looking for a nightcap. (And Maybe there really is a monster hiding in the fireplace, to keep the "Horror" feel going?? :)

I made reservations, they require a credit card to make reservations so that if you cancel outside of the 24-hour time period or you do not show up, they can charge you up to $25 per person. Fair. I've seen this before in other restaurants. I made a 5:45 pm reservations as it was on a Saturday and I wanted to get there before it got too busy. We were seated on the lounge area. I asked the waitress if there was a way we could be seated at a normal table for dining. She then explained that people have eaten dinners on those tables before and that there's no open tables to move us to. Why, yes. I have also eaten off of a picnic blanket while at the park. I am well aware that people can eat off of different types of surfaces. Anyway, we made do though I was annoyed having to lean forward to take a bite out of my steak. The plate was too large to sit on my lap and I didn't want to eat off of my lap anyway. By the way, the proper table by us was empty the whole time from the time we got there, ordered appetizers, and our main entree, ate everything and sat around for 10 more minutes to finish our drinks. The food was excellent! We started with the crab dip which was true to its name. It had crab meat and topped with some crisp bread crumbs, no fillers. For places who try to pass off crab dips, they should take a page off of High Bar's recipe book. My husband had the chicken sandwich and I had the steak for my entree. As usual, I ordered mine medium rare which came properly prepared. I always get nervous when ordering steak at a non-steakhouse but I trusted my gut and they delivered. My husband really enjoyed his chicken sandwich. It had 2 fried chickens stacked atop one another. He took one off and took it home for later. We both had some cocktails. I love their spritz and the spritz options they have. Our waitress was okay. She wasn't overly friendly or attentive but she took our orders and kind of acknowledged our existence when she had to. The people delivering our food and drinks were nicer. We wanted to take our leftovers home and told our waitress this. She dropped off some containers and the check. We left shortly after. I was honestly hoping for a much better experience. At least the food was still really good!

I came for a HH and enjoyed three different cocktails. My first was a Gold Rush. It's basically a Bees Knees with Vodka instead of Gin. It was light and refreshing, making it a great start. The second cocktail was one of my all-time favorites, a Old Fashioned. I can honestly say, it was one of the best, if not the absolute best one I have ever had. I finished the HH with a Espresso Martini. It was a good ending to my HH. They use a Cold Brew instead of true espresso, so it had a milder coffee taste. My nosh while drinking was a, Jalapeño Popper Dip. It was okay, in my opinion, it did not fit the description on the menu. Especially, the type of chips described. My friend ordered, The Small Board and it was fantastic and a good value. Our bartenders were friendly and as I stated earlier, they are masters of their skill. What stopped them from getting a 5 Star review, is simple. They do not offer a Martini on their Happy Hour Menu. I'm a Martini Man and that disappointed me, but it wont keep me away, it just keeps them short of 5 Stars.
