A backdrop was set up for pics. They also had a green screen set up so guests could take a pic and be digitally placed in a scene of the movie. I thought that was cool. They also offered free popcorn with a fountain drink. Ordered a "Ginger Margarita" at the bar before entering the theater. It was about $21 for cocktail. Wish I would've purchased the "Cutwater" instead. For $10 or $11 it would've been better sipping on that than the 21oz or 24 oz drink. Being that they fill the cup with ice, you're not getting as much of a drink as you think. Didn't have any issues getting thru and having my wristband checked. Was able to just walk on thru. The theater I was in was clean. Found a comfortable seat up top. The movie was better than I expected. The theater itself is really nice. I would come back.

This was my first time in this theater and…read morehonestly I was not impressed: - first it was super hard to find the entrance between the various levels and confusing signage, but that's just a minor annoyance - I'm not crazy about these super reclining seats, I wanted to sit a bit more upright, but the seatback kept reclining as soon as I tried to rest my back on it (I didn't put any pressure on the seatback) - the screen is definitely big which is a plus, but because it fills up the wall completely from floor to ceiling any time the person in front of me sat a bit more upright his head was in my field of vision, which happened like 80% of the movie. Sure, the movie was shot so the edges didn't contain any crucial information, so it's not like I missed anything, it was just annoying to see someone's head in the screen almost all the time. - my the biggest complaint is the sound, and I don't know if it is a result of the sound mixing by Odyssey's sound engineers or the theater's audio/speaker setup or both. Very frequently during the movie I had a hard time understanding the dialogue, as it was hard to separate it from the music and sound effects. I know it wasn't just me as I overheard others complaining about it as we were leaving the theater. Very disappointing for a movie of this caliber. In hindsight it was not worth the extra cost and effort to find seats for this theater.

What a cool experience and my understanding events like this happen all the time at Brain Dead Studios. I love watching a movie surrounded by other movie enthusiasts. Tickets are reasonably priced, too! Ours were just $15 which is about half of Tarentino's theater. The theater itself is cold so bundle up and the seats can get a bit uncomfy after 2 hours - but both of those are movie theater norms and no worse than at any AMC. Very friendly staff! My son has been wanting to see Devil Wears Prada 2 and the first one is one of his favorite movies of all time. Personally, I don't like that movie but I went along with him. Tickets are $25 each and they have a $4 parking garage, but we were lucky enough to get a free after-hour meter on the street. It's a nice place and it seems like comfort is their top priority. The recliner chairs are extremely comfy and come with a blanket in case you get cold. You know how movie theaters are always chilly. Once you get settled, you can press a button that sends an employee over to take your order. It's completely optional. We got one small popcorn (light butter, $6) which was big enough for both of us. I like this idea of having the option of ordering and dining at your seat while watching a movie, but the reality is a bit different. It's kind of annoying to see the employees coming and going when someone needs a refill or places a new order during the movie. You can hear them talking and they can even block your view. It's frustrating when you are trying to focus. With that being said, I think it has more pros than cons. There are bars and bathrooms located across the several floors and the one we went to was exceptionally clean. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back to this theatre. I prefer something more standard like AMC or Pacific Theatres (RIP!)...

Although I couldn't stay for the actual movie, I attended a 70mm screening several years ago and remember the projection and sound being very high-quality, and the concessions being reasonably priced. The screen is just over 30 feet wide, so I recommend sitting in the front half for good immersion. The seats are the only downside, since they're traditional fabric, pretty rigid, and aren't tall enough to act as more than a back rest for many people. But, they're on a decent incline, so they should be okay comfort-wise and you'll have less chance of people's heads blocking the bottom of the screen (like at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica).

If you turn onto Holt, it's free residential parking all the way down (please read the signs though). Parking closer to the theatre on this street will get you one free hour of parking but if you park several blocks down will give you more time. Consider this option if you don't mind a bit of a walk. At a recent showing, I ordered the Culver Combo and the popcorn was almost entirely small, crumbly fragments, the tiny broken bits you'd normally find at the very bottom of the bag. It was basically impossible to eat. I got a refill halfway through, assuming I'd just gotten the ends of a batch, but the replacement scoop from a fresh machine was no better. On top of the texture, the popcorn also just doesn't taste good. it had a slightly burnt taste every single time. 2) About an hour into every movie, it becomes obvious there's no AC or fan running. I wouldn't be surprised if a CO2 monitor showed elevated levels. I've flagged this to staff on all three visits, and each time turning on the AC fixed it immediately, but it's never on by default. Sitting in a hot, stale theater for two hours is genuinely unpleasant, and the difference in air quality the moment you step into the hall is obvious. I really want to like this theater, it's a local business and I'd rather support it than a big chain but I won't be returning unless these issues are addressed/fixed.

Parking in the area was $20 at a lot across the street. Not terrible for a Friday night in LA, but still worth mentioning. Your ticket includes skate rental and one drink, so we grabbed a Paloma (the other option was not available) which hit the spot. Unfortunately, the skating surface was a bit of a letdown--treaded hard plastic mats that didn't offer a smooth ride. It took a lot of effort to move and wasn't beginner-friendly. Plus there was a tricky spot that tripped up more than a few skaters. The biggest surprise was the low energy overall--music was pretty quiet, and the vibe felt more relaxed than festive. We expected more of a party atmosphere for a Friday night rooftop in the heart of LA. It was still fun to do something different and hang out with our group, but unless they upgrade the floor or amp up the energy, it's probably a one-and-done for us.
