You know what? I don't really know what some people are expecting of a cupcake store....of course, you want a really delicious cupcake. But some of these reviews are so over the top mean, I can't believe it. A cupcake now and then is not something to go ballistic over, nor should you eat them every day. I don't think they are supposed to ruin your life or even make it that much better. Just a lovely treat in the middle of your day or night or party....gosh. Get over yourselves, people. Just visited the Coronado store (btw- owners should set up a separate listing for that shop) and couldn't have been more pleased with the customer service I received. Very helpful, cooperative, all along with a military discount for 18 cupcakes purchased last minute for my daughter's birthday- yeah, I've got planning issues. Watermelon, Strawberry Margarita, Coconut Lime, Cotton Candy, Lemon Lime- all big hits with the girls! Very professionally done and finished. Expert crafting. I didn't see any "traditional flavors" but I'll be back, often. I love to support local businesses that care about locals. read more

I have passed by The Cupcake Store many times and heard from a friend that she had tried and had excellent Carrot and Red Velvet Cupcakes. I decided to buy a dozen for my grandsons birthday party last weekend as any products brought to school or establishments must come from a business, not prepared at home. I purchased 6 peanut butter and chocolate, 5 black and white and the last was called a man cake, those were the flavors available that day. They looked quite lovely and delicious, unfortunately they were dry and tasteless. I was really surprised, as I have never eaten any cake before that literally had no taste. Even the frosting was tasteless and barely sweet. I hope the store will read this review and check their recipes. Of the $30.00 spent on these cupcakes, most of the product was thrown in the trash. I stumbled across The Cupcake Store when we were killing time before toddler story time at the library for my son. I love the mini cupcakes. A perfect little taste of something sweet with out being way too much for the kids. We have now been back 5 times now. The last time just yesterday for my daughter's 6th birthday. The cupcakes are very moist and the frosting is decadent and I am very picky about frosting. Usually I scrape it off and just eat the cake. The cupcakes here are the BEST ever!!! Moist and deliciously true to their flavor! They recently introduced their homeade pies. I tried the pecan pie on Thanksgiving and it was out of this world! I am super picky when it comes to pies and the pecan pie made from scratch by the owners of this bakery is soooo GOOD!! It is rich with flavor, texture and quality is above perfect! I am sure I will be ordering another pecan pie to serve my family at Christmas. I hear they will also be making homeade apple pie. I will definitely want to try that!! I absolutely love this place! I love their man cake cupcakes, the butterscotch Carmel, and vanilla. I like really plain flavored stuff but I'll always go here to get cupcakes and their macarons. They're the only place that has macarons in santee. The location is awesome since it's right down the street from me. But their cupcakes are HUGE as well as their macarons. The price is just right and so is the flavoring. The cake itself is really moist and their frosting is one of the best things about this place. What a great little shop! My husband, baby, and I popped in after getting some photos taken next door. We ordered carrot cake and s'mores cupcakes as well as a mini vanilla one. I like that they have different side options- perfect for tiny hands :) AND, we only paid around $8 for 3 cupcakes and a can of soda. The cupcakes were moist and the frosting was uniquely different for each flavor- awesome! The customer service was amazing- the lovely girl at the counter helping us was so sweet and helpful. The co-owner was in the back and she came out to greet us. We sat outside and enjoyed our treats. As my husband was finishing up, I walked back inside to entertain my son, and they invited us into the back of the kitchen to view some cakes and we learned about the home made granola! Yesterday we popped into The Cupcake Store for the first time. Joe got a Boston Creme cupcake and we also bought the dogs Pupcakes! Everything was yummy. Today we were walking by as Ann was closing and she invited us in and gave us all these welcome to the neighborhood goodies. Ann does not sell day old cupcakes. She normally donates leftovers at closing to Noah Homes on Saturdays but they weren't able to pick up today so we were the lucky winners of these amazing goodies! Oh and during the week she donates leftovers to the Santee Food Bank. This family owned shop is a gem! Went today for the first time. The shop is really cute and the girl that helped me was very friendly. There was a great selection of cupcakes in the display case. I purchased a Pink Lemonade, S'Mores, Mancake and a Neapolitan. I tried the Pink Lemonade and S'Mores. They were both delicious! The Pink Lemonade was just the right amount of sweet and tart and the frosting was really light. The S'Mores was easily the best cupcake I've ever had. A delicious chocolate cake with a graham cracker crumble on the bottom dipped in chocolate ganache with more crumbs and delicious frosting. My intent was to only eat 1/2 of the S'Mores and 1/2 the Pink Lemonade, I ate the entire S'Mores cupcake! Hopefully I'll show some restraint when I try the 2 I have left. But I doubt it! read more

After mixed reviews, I wasn't sure what I'd encounter. They had several flavors, mini and regular size, which was actually really big, imo. We got an oreo and red velvet regular and mini peppermint. Yum, yummy and YUM! The red velvet, my favorite, was so great. Didn't taste artificial, although I cannot confirm that, and it wasn't a deep red like store bought or sprinkles. I had to order a cake here after my mom was set on this place for my birthday cake order (party for over 70 people). The frosting is very thin and there really is no flavor to it. The cupcakes themselves are alright but I would have been better off just getting a cake from Albertsons. For the cake, fondant was put on buttercream because she convinced my mom that it was the same as fondant on fondant however the cake did not look as well as it was portrayed to have turned out. I just visited The Cupcake Store for the first time because some friends were coming over and some don't eat sugar. They rotate the type of Sugar Free or Gluten Free cupcakes available, so today's happened to be a Sugar Free Chocolate Cupcake. They have full size and mini's available and they are DELICIOUS! I also tried the Orange Sherbet (not SF) and it was yummy. The Red Velvet Rasberry Cupcakes are very good - those were my daughter's favorite. Plus I tried a mini of the Gluten Free Vanilla Maple and it was incredibly moist and delicious for Gluten Free. I plan to tell my GF friends about this gem of a store in Santee. Am so glad I found out about this place - it's not far from my house and the prices are reasonable. The owner of the store said they have been open 7 months now and judging my some of the other comments - it looks as though they've worked out some of the earlier "problems" they might have had. I would have given them 5 stars but they don't have a place to sit down (I saw lots of other comments about that too) so hopefully in the future they can figure out something. read more
