This is my second time to The Cutting Edge. My husband has been coming here for awhile and recently when my old hairstylist got married and left the city, I was forced to find a new one! I am soooo glad I decided to try this place! I had Miriana the first time - very warm and welcoming. She's the owner. Just today, I tried Pearly. She was very kind and most importantly my haircut turned out amazing! I have thick, straight asian hair that most stylists like to layer the heck out of to make my hair feel lighter. BUT, it ends up looking too choppy. I explained to Pearly my concerns and how I wanted to blend my layers a bit more, and she did exactly as I asked. Very gentle and sweet. If you're skeptical, give this place a try! The only downside is they don't take appointments for haircuts so you MAY have to wait. But for great service and a great price (my wash, haircut, and light blowdry was only $18), the wait is worth it in my book! read more

Upon entering the salon, they greet you as if they have known you for years! This works for me because it eases the tension of whatever drastic change i may decide to make. The establishment is small and clean so it doesn't feel so impersonal. They have done wonders for when my vacuum cleaner got ahold of my long virgin hair ( tear) Miriana saved most of it by creating a choppy look and saving most of its length. Whom ever you decide to go with you will not be disappointed. They repeat various times what is it youd like to make sure ur on the same page. No surprises only good ones :) Oh and one more thing, If you ask them for their honest opinion on a look you may have in mind, but in reality IT does not go with ,,,, say your head shape or Lack of forehead size. Eunice is awesome, but, the fact that appointments are not allowed is a stupid rule. Just because i don't color or perm my hair I don't get to make an appointment? Wtf? My husband and I have been a loyal customers for years, but, this is starting to be a pain in the ass. I am a big tipper, but today has been ridiculous. I have come back 3 times, basically waiting all day to get my hair cut. I don't have time for this anymore. Miriana is the best ! Always love coming here. She is professional, precise, and personable. I have Asian hair and her skin fades are flawless. She takes her time to make sure she provides top quality work. Her prices are great and takes the proper precautions most places do not due to COVID. Sad to say I wasn't impressed with this place. I called around 10am to check out pricing before I made an appointment. The first thing I asked was how much for a hair cut for long hair and the lady on the phone told me it would be $20 for the cut and if I wanted a hair cut and blow dry it would be $35, awesome in my budget, I'll make an appointment! I asked what time she had available and she said she was open all day what time works for me, I asked for 5pm. Cool. I get there at 5:10 (traffic anf parking sucks). I walk in and sit down, there are 3 people in the chairs and 3 people sitting down waiting. A man walks in around 5:40 and sits right in the chair. I was told he had a 4:30 appointment. Okay whatever. She is cutting his hair while coloring another client's hair. The guy leaves and it's my turn to sit in the chair. I get up sit down and now she is starting me. Washes my hair takes me to the seat and asks what I would like. I ask for about 3-4 inches off (my hair is to my butt) and layers. she cuts my hair and is rushing to get back to the lady she is still doing highlights on, then comes back to me and continues cutting. After she is through cutting my hair she asked if I wanted it blow dry and tells me $20 just for hair cut and $48 for blow dry. I told her when I called they said it would be $35 then she interrupts me and says "and up". why would I want to go outside with my hair wet? She finally finishes me around 6:45. After all is said and done I walk out unhappy with my hair cut (now a little longer than my shoulders), the price I paid and the time I wasted waiting. I won't be going back. read more

After years of being her client, she will still ask, what I need or want. There have been a few times where I've come in wanting to change everything about my hair. Sofia will hear me out and then give me her honest opinion on "what I want". I must admit, she has saved me several times from making regretful decisions when it comes to my hair. Tuoi is seriously a life saver. I went to a different salon to have my hair cut, just a little bit, layered and colored and the "stylist" butchered my hair. My hair was down to my rear end and I wanted it cut to mid back, I asked for layers and golden blonde hair (to match my existing hair color). She cut my hair to just under my shoulders, because she couldn't make it even, so she had to keep cutting more to compensate. The layers weren't layers. I had a section of long hair and a section of short hair. It was a long mullet. And to top it off, she colored my hair light brown. When I straightened my hair at home, I not only noticed the mullet, she also cut my hair on an angle. It wasn't straight across. I needed help to fix it stat!!! That is where Tuoi at The Cutting Edge came in. I made an appointment and she saw what I was complaining about. My problem, however, was that my hair was already way shorter than I wanted it to be. I asked if she could fix it without taking too much more length off. She did just that. She kept the length and fixed the layers! Looking at my hair now, you would never guess that it was butchered beforehand. I am so grateful for Tuoi. She is a very talented stylist. read more

The owner, Miriana, who is quite stylish was very cordial and easy to talk to right away. She quickly understood what hair style was desired and made sure exactly what I wanted thoroughly even adding any details I may have missed such as hair texture, certain layers, etc. - great effective communication skills might I add. She washes the hair with care and the water at perfect temperature - shampoo even smelled wonderful. I can tell only quality products and tools are used here at this salon. Throughout the haircut she communicated with me what she was doing or going to do and it was a cool process as I could tell she was pretty focused on her work. I got the cut I asked for and wanted and was very pleased with the results. The other employees were really kind as well and I could tell the owner really treats her staff very well and in a genuine manner. The shop is also very well kept, organized and spaced out well. I will definitely only be getting my hair done at the Cutting Edge Brea by Miriana going forward. Absolutely amazing. I just left this place and everything was well worth the time and money. Jackie is a great hairstylist and really gives a lot of thought into what she does. I was trying to find a good, affordable haircut place to get a quick haircut by my work, but after reading a bunch of reviews of botched haircuts and scalp infections from other hair places... I was losing hope of finding a place nearby. I'm really happy I stumbled upon this place. My hair stylist, (I didn't get the spelling of her name but she pronounced it Meh-di-ana), washed my hair and was very attentive to what I wanted and gave me just that + added some input that really made the cut much better in the end. I usually keep my hair long and I cut it about once a year, so it's nice when I go to a place that gets it right. Very clean, friendly, and affordable. A woman's cut is 20, men's is 15. I had an appointment at 10:45 and did not get my hair done until around 11:30. The woman who did my hair was extremely sweet and nice and asks a lot of questions to be sure she does what you want. However, when she was brushing my hair she was yanking it which caused more split ends and damage to my hair. She also cut it unevenly and it is too choppy and looks awkward. I needed a quick, inexpensive trim for my dead ends so I called The Cutting Edge to see if they could fit me in. They were so accommodating and booked an appointment for me within 30 min! I was just calling to see if they would allow a walk-in because it was so last minute but to my surprise they were able to book me an appt to come in that day and within 30 min, which was just enough time for me to head on over there. A lady named Liz cut my hair and did SO GOOD!! It was $45 for wash, cut and blow dry, wow! Great price right? Aside from the amazing price, as if that would have been enough for me, she gave me the best head massage during my wash while always making sure to ask if the water was ok and if I was comfortable, so sweet! I only needed a trim for my ends because I ultimately want my hair to grow longer so she gave me her recommendations for how much I needed to trim off based on what I wanted. After cutting and blow drying my hair, she even went through and cut the split ends that were still there. Hairstylists usually won't take the time to do this for a $45 hair trim. She was so nice and so much fun to chat with. She's there on Sundays only. I'll definitely be going back in 8-10 weeks to keep up with my ends. I have been going to this salon for over a year now and have had practically everyone that works there do my hair. All of them are competent and know their stuff. My daughter who has extremely thick and long hair is always satisfied when we leave. (she is 17 and not easily satisfied lol ) my son also who is 13 is always happy as well. I wish I could give 4 or 5 stars. I bring my toddler boy here and I always come right at opening, so I can be the first customer and spare my son from waiting for others. But they are always, always late. If they open at 9am, they come at 9:15. I come 15 min before opening to ensure being first in line. So I wait 30 minutes for a 15 minute haircut. But they are always nice and I like how they cut his hair. read more

Miriana is THE BEST! My husband has been to several local stylists over the last year but has never been able to get the exact cut he's been looking for until he found The Cutting Edge and met Miriana. After his very first appointment, his expectations were exceeded and he was beyond satisfied with the cut he received. I'm okay with that. It doesn't take much to pick up the phone and call. Miriana is the owner, an amazing stylist, and one of the nicest people I've met; she is also very informative. Eunice is my go-to stylist but all the stylist here do a really good job. If Eunice is booked i have no problem booking the rest of them. Tuoi is so sweet and always has a bright smile on her face. Sophia does a very good job helping you envision your haircut and is very friendly as well.
