I had Thereze do a V-shaped haircut with face framing and long bangs and a color correcting toner to make my hair color darker. My hair tends to get light and brassy. Thereze maintains my hair color to avoid that. She did an amazing job with my hair and it's exactly what I wanted. My hair looks so healthy and naturally brown. I will only go to Thereze for my hairstyling needs. She's so exceptionally talented and on top of that, she's gorgeous and extremely nice that wants to please her customers 100%. Booked with Noel Picco, was even sent a reminder the day before and 30 minutes before my haircut I get a call from her assistant that she won't be in due to feeling sick. I would have appreciated it at least an hour before and not while Im on my way over. Appt is at 8am but times listed in Yelp are salon open at 10 so would she have been on time or open at all? It's inconsiderate and inconvenient. I won't be doing services with her anymore. Don't have early mornings available if you're not going to show up to do your job. The day before New Year's, I called to inquire about cost & made an appointment for a haircut. I was told I'd be seeing Jacque Jan. 2nd at noon. When I arrived & checked in, I could tell there was an issue; my appointment wasn't on their books. Ugh. Thankfully, Jacque had the receptionist fit me in & I didn't even wait long or feel rushed. Phew! This could've gone south fast, but I'm so glad they did the right thing - now THAT'S excellent customer service! Jacque asked what I was looking for, we talked, I even showed her a couple pictures, & she made recs to fit my hair type & face, as well. During my cut, I was very relaxed & at ease. I went here twice. Once with a stylist named Edgar, another with a stylist name Noel. While they were sweet people individually, both times the appointments took 2+ hours and I was only in for a root touch up. I understand stylists book multiple clients at once but the fact that a root touch up took slightly over 2 hours both times with two different stylists tells me this isn't client centered work. Nice salon, hair turned out fine. But if you're looking for a root touch up, know you will be there for 2 hours or more while your stylist works on other clients simultaneously. read more

Really disappointed with my second visit with Mia . My first appointment went well, but this time felt rushed (about half the time), and my hair was cut before and after being styled while curled--making it hard to see how uneven and choppy it actually was. My appointment was also postponed the day of without a call or text. I only found out through Vagaro via email and had to reach out to Mia myself, which felt very unprofessional. When I noticed the uneven cut, I requested a refund multiple times and was refused. I also didn't feel comfortable going back to have it fixed. I'd recommend asking not to have your hair cut after it's styled, since curls can hide unevenness, better yet don't get your hair cut by Mia at all. Overall, very disappointed and now I have to pay to get it fixed elsewhere. read more

I've been going to Kim about a year now and I'm always impressed with the detailed consultation and amount of information she is able to gather and give her professional feedback on. This time when I came in I asked for the tone to be a bit more cooler than before. Kim also retouched my bleached sectioned hair and gave me a root shadow for an easier grow out - since my black hair grows very quickly the root shadow would make the blend more seamless and allow me to go longer between sessions. The studio is fairly large and has a lot of natural light which makes sitting and waiting for your color(s) to process a lot nicer. So I'm writing this review for the overall hope for improvement for the next clients as I won't make the commute to come back for corrections, I commuted from Encino to Fullerton about (1 & 1/2 hour ) drive. I was super excited to come get my hair done by Alyssa. I follow her on TikTok and I truly thought her work was gorgeous. Upon arriving to the salon, I was pleasantly surprised I was taken to be seen on time at 9:15am. We went over what I was looking for and how I wanted to have something with a noticeably difference. Past experiences I have gotten my hair dyed and felt it looked almost like it was just a touch up instead of whole new color. I expressed that, Alyssa understood. She stated I need a blow dry and wash since build up to get started. I definitely think during booking the reception should say please come with your washed hair but I digress. We washed and blow dried my hair and was done at 10:00. Her assistant said Alyssa will be right with you, as she was wrapping up with her first client.. about 35 minutes later we resume, which I found a waste of time. But stuff happens, I understand so I thought that would be a one off of waiting long period with doing nothing. We did a full balayage for $500 dollars. Since I've had balayages done before I anticipated about 3 hours. While foiling Alyssa mentioned the service will take 4 1/2 hours. Longer than usual but that's okay for the work she does. Since we bleach my hair, she said okay everything is looking as expected well wash out my hair some sections 10 minutes and the rest 30 minutes. She then starts her 2nd client in between my appointment slot, which again I don't mind because I'm lifting color. But then the time frame she gave comes and goes .. I wait 40 minutes go by .. 50 minutes go by and then we finally wash it out. Once done washing she said okay a treatment needs to sit in my hair for 10 minutes and she's going to mix my color in the meantime. Nope.. I then wait at the sink bowl for 40 minutes, just waiting. In my opinion, yes she can resume with her second client but apply my toner while I'm waiting 40 minutes. It's now already 2:00pm been 5 hours since the start for my appointment and all we've done is highlights... All this to say my appointment process continues to go like this. Alyssa is with me for maybe 20 minutes at a time and I'm left waiting long periods, whatever the task at hand needs to develop add about 30 minutes of additional waiting. I finally finish my hair at 4:47. My hair looks brown.. I paid $550 with tip, for brown hair/ grays still showing at the root and was there for 7 and half hours!! (9:15-4:47). Biggest disappointment , my hair doesn't look bad but I've been to other stylist for $250 and had the same out come and was in the seat for two hours. She was severely over booked and customer service lacked. Communication goes a long way, a thank you for waiting during long duration would've been appreciated. read more

Alyssa @lyslovecolor: I had an extremely disappointing experience with this hairstylist that I found on Instagram. My appointment lasted from 11:00 a.m. until 9:30 p.m., which is completely unacceptable. Throughout the day, she was working on multiple clients at the same time while my hair was bleaching. At one point, my hair was sitting at the wash station unattended while her assistant was drying another client's hair and Alyssa was working on someone else. There were at least three clients being serviced simultaneously, possibly more. Toward the end of the night, when it was just me, Alyssa, and her assistant left, she went into a back room to smoke weed. I could clearly smell it and hear her coughing, which felt extremely unprofessional. The final result was awful--it honestly looked like nothing had been done to my hair despite being there all day. Overall, the experience felt like a scam. Based on what I saw, it seems like she prioritizes clients who already have nice hair and focuses more on maintaining an Instagram image than providing quality service. I am writing this based on my experience at The Associated Hair from a year ago that I still think about today now that I have moved on to other salons. I booked for a color correction/balayage with Alyssa based on her work that I saw on social media. I knew it would be a difficult process to lift the old black color from my hair to lighten it to be a true brunette. I drove all the way from SD for this service but unfortunately left disappointed. Alyssa is super sweet, and was transparent throughout the lightening process. We lightened a lot more than I initially expected due to the color correction process. I guess the toner was not absorbing well into my hair from damage. I did notice that a good 60% of my appointment was spent with her assistant and my stylist was juggling tons of different clients. I personally value a salon that allows their stylists to really have 1:1 time with their client to achieve their desired goals for their hair, and I didn't really feel like this was a right fit. For the haircut portion, because she was so distracted with other clients she had completely forgotten to even out the layers on the other side. I initially did not notice due to the styling but once I got home, one side had layers and the other side basically had none. I also saw that I only had face framing layers rather than layers throughout in addition to face framing. I called directly to the salon to set up a time for me to come back to get the haircut fixed. I called multiple times, but no one would answer. I finally got ahold of someone after a couple of days of trying and they just told me to DM Alyssa directly. I never had this experience where the salon could not ask their stylists directly. So I had to wait a couple of more days to wait for a response via instagram. Alyssa kindly apologized and accommodated me to come in on a weekend. She offered to tone my hair again since my hair got really brassy within a week, but I really just wanted to get out of salon as soon as possible. She was able to even the layers, but when I asked to add more layering throughout she told me it was not her style to do so, and she doesn't do that kind of cut for her clients. After paying over $500 not including the time and gas to travel from SD, and walking away with a haircut that I am still not satisfied with because it's "not her style" was extremely disappointing to hear. I am not sure if that is truly what she meant, or if it is more of a skill issue, but I didn't feel like asking for more layers was a lot to ask for. I booked an appointment with Michael and he was both considerate of my requests and superb with his styling skills! From meet and greet to the end of the appointment, he was engaging and took his time to style and cut my hair. He will go over what are realistic options for whatever condition your hair is in instead of giving false hope -- in my case, I had damaged my hair and he told me exactly what I could expect based on my inspo pics, and he DELIVERED. Update: Noel reached out and apologized for my experience. I appreciated her efforts to resolve things and accepted a refund. ---- I left my appointment with Noel confused and frustrated. My hair was 2-3 inches shorter than what I asked for and comically uneven. I don't believe this was a miscommunication issue and could forgive the length if that was the case. I think maybe she was upset with me and acted unprofessionally, or was in a rush which resulted in a reckless job. This isn't a novice stylist -- she told me she owned the salon after she was in a disagreement with a different stylist over the music playing. I'm not sure if that affected her mood and my haircut. I went to a new stylist the next day to salvage the cut, and they said that she had to have done this on purpose because there was no way a cut could be so uneven. A skilled hair stylist wouldn't make these mistakes. ---- During our introduction, I asked for a below-the-shoulder length cut, some texturizing layers, and soft face-framing pieces. I showed her my Pinterest board for visual examples and we seemed to be on the same page. While I originally booked for just a haircut, I inquired about dyeing some of my white hairs into a peek-a-boo gray streak and she happily obliged but warned me it would be a 2-3 hour process. I understood and agreed. She started by bleaching the streaks of hair, left me under the heat for it to lift, and told me she'd be back in 30 minutes. My past stylists would usually check in halfway to see the progress, but she never stopped by. I noticed liquid dripping after 30 minutes, so I told the stylist in the next chair, and she said the bleach was dripping out the foils. I was startled and concerned about potential damage. She grabbed my stylist, and she asked if it got on my face (thankfully no). She rinsed it off, added toner, and said she'd be back in 20. Around the 20-minute mark, I looked around and noticed she was with a different client. Totally fair, I understood I had to share my time because I extended my appointment. I waited a little longer but since I was anxious from the bleach incident, my husband checked in with the receptionist for me. I think us checking in was what upset her or made her feel rushed. They told me it could stay in longer, and then a different stylist came to wash my hair. When Noel finished foiling her other client, she came back and said "I told you it would take a while," so I wasn't sure if she was joking or upset. I laughed to signal I wasn't bothered by the wait, told her it wasn't an issue, and that I was just checking in. She asked about the length again, and I pointed an inch below my shoulder and said, "Here, below the shoulders." She replied, "Ok, the collarbone," and turned me around so I couldn't see the mirror and started chopping away. I immediately felt something was off because of her speed. Usually, stylists will use a comb to make sure things are straight, cut in sections, etc. but it felt like she was just eyeballing and hacking away across the back of my head. Regretfully, I didn't speak up. She turned me around after cutting half of my head and asked me what I thought. The cut was ABOVE my shoulder. The ends were floating in the air by my chin. I told her as nicely as I could that it was shorter than I expected. She replied in an irked tone, "Oh," and then followed up with, "Don't worry, it'll be cute." No apology or acknowledgment that that was not the length we discussed. I asked her about my soft face-framing pieces and she said she would do that next. Again, she turned me around so I couldn't see the mirror, and just started cutting without any consideration of my face shape and what length would be complementary. No measuring to make sure both sides were even. When she turned me around, I saw how chunky and short they were. I felt defeated and just wanted out. When she finished, she asked me what I thought. I reluctantly told her I had to get used to it. She told me again she thought it was cute and that I would grow to like it. When I went home and washed out the curls, I noticed how uneven the cut was. That's when I realized that this wasn't just a short haircut but a genuinely BAD haircut. There were chunks of hair that were an inch longer than others and the bangs were even worse than I thought. They look like an indent in a paragraph. There was no gradual layering or anything that indicated thoughtfulness or technique. I just don't understand the quality of the cut. What happened? If she didn't have the time to do both, I wish she had communicated that, and I'd be happy with just a haircut. If she was annoyed, I'm genuinely sorry. She could've refused service and I would've left. In the end, I felt like a fool for paying $200 for a poor haircut and two small sections of highlighted hair. IMO, the price didn't reflect the requested services (choppy cut and it was barely a partial highlight), but I was too disappointed to argue about it. read more

I made an appointment for a haircut here after seeing all the great reviews... I was excited to visit especially with their salon being 2 seconds from my house. But I was quite disappointed. I am used to feeling very welcome in salons but I felt like such an inconvenience to my stylist. I think maybe 5 words were spoken to me the whole time and my haircut was uneven, which I called out at the end and was "fixed" but it still wasn't even and I "felt" bad saying something so I just left it and fixed it on my own at home.
