Found this little divey diner gem on Yelp that had great reviews. They were not wrong. Greeted with a smile and told I could sit anywhere I liked and was asked what I'd like to drink before even sitting down. Coffee was in front of me within seconds and a menu and the young waitress asked if I would like any suggestions. She was sweet and we chatted a little about me being up in Tallahassee for the weekend and funny enough, she is moving to Tampa Bay for school in August. Good choice! One of my go to items to "test" a breakfast place is biscuits and gravy. After confirming the gravy is homemade with another wait staff member, I ordered my meal but with just 1 buscuits vs 2. She was also really sweet and ensured my order was done in a way to be more cost effective for me. GREAT customer service and I immediately thought how because of her actions, my savings on the bill was going directly to their tip. I noticed their display case had cupcakes in there that looked delicious even from afar so I got up to check out the situation. I learned that the owners (brother and sister) mother makes them. They weren't cupcake sized, they were muffin sized and only $2.79 each. Sold... okay maybe 3 were sold!! They weren given to me in individual to-go containers and the one had lots of toppings so was brought over to me without the lid because she didn't want to be the one to push it down and ruin the toppings herself. I thought that was cute. They all looked great so I understand her thoughts. When given my bill I was asked if I would like a to-go coffee. Everyone was very attentive and so nice. I can't believe I haven't updated my review in 7 years! What I can tell you is that Woodchuck's Cafe is still a great for breakfast! If you are a fan of traditional diners, then this place is for you. The menu covers all of the bases when it comes to breakfast, and then some. I've uploaded a menu so you can see the current prices and menu options. Suffice to say that they very likely have whatever you are in the mood for for breakfast. I went with a western omelette, home fries and a biscuit. Shortly after ordering the server came back and said that they were out of ham, but that I could substitute any other breakfast meat. So I went with a sausage patty. The omelette was full of filling and perfectly cooked. That home fries were delicious: thinly sliced potatoes are cooked on a flat top grill. I am a huge fan of the crispy bits of home fries, and I loved these. The biscuit was good, but not spectacular. The coffee was good, and they will bring you milk/cream if you ask (the table has containers of coffee mate). Don't let the location, next to a gas station mini mart, put you off. Well, well, well! We are full and faded! We love hidden gems that are usually by word of mouth. A co-worker/patient of mine mentioned this place to me and I was pleasantly surprised. At first a little taken aback by the gas station/ food next spot but looks are deceiving. The honey chicken bowl with eggs over-medium are a must try. The chicken was so tender and juicy. I had the Greek omelette it was okay, not as good as I've had before, ask for extra feta if you like the funk like I do The home fries were really good, I usually like them a little more crispy but still delicious. We were looking for a local place for lunch and found this place. The staff was super friendly and personable which is always a positive. The place is known for their burgers, so we tried a few. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger and the bacon wrapped cheeseburger. Both actual burgers were very good - good flavor, juicy, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Interestingly, the bacon cheeseburger had more bacon than the bacon wrapped cheeseburger, which was disappointing (figured the bacon wrapped cheeseburger would have had more) . For sides we had a side salad and potato salad. The salad was a salad - not remarkable but not bad either - simply a salad. The potato salad had potential - fresh potatoes with skins - but sadly, there was no flavor - none . We were hoping to try their famed 'mama's cupcakes' but they were sold out so we'll have to come back (the fact that they were sold out by 1:00 pm probably bodes well for their flavor!) Would we come back - sure! There are many more interesting looking burgers on the menu and that's really what this place is know for. read more

As I pull in the parking lot, I raise an eyebrow with confusion as to why, or how this place ended up attached to a gas station (literally). It's so attached that a patron could park in a single spot and visit both the cafe and the gas station. This is a small, quaint little cafe that serves great food. It is a standard American breakfast menu, but the food quality is great and the food is flavorful. The food comes out quick and is served hot and fresh. The portions are fair as are the prices. Woodchuck's is amazing for breakfast or lunch. I actually think they have the best burgers in Tallahassee. The Purple Haze is my favorite with jalapeño cream cheese and bacon. They have some other really interesting combinations and the burgers are really large. Breakfast is served all day and offers a menu of classic and speciality plates like sweet potato pancakes (pretty good) or stuffed French toast. The funniest thing on the breakfast menu is the Brown Bag Special..10 slices of bacon and a tall boy. So funny! The other sandwiches, pitas, and salads are good too and come with a variety of sides like fries, tater tots, corn nuggets, fried okra, fruit bowl, or funnel cake. There are so many options for food and good for people who like to order traditional and those who like to try something new. Woodchuck's also has a small menu of beer, cider, and mimosas. Last but not least...the CUPCAKES. The owner's mother makes hands down the best and most affordable cupcakes in Tallahassee.
