Great food service was a little lacking but overall would come back was down for FSU game day and found this place on yelp and thought we would try it out.

Stumbled upon Woodchucks a few years ago when I was a freshman at FSU. While some may be off put by the exterior, I suggest that you walk inside and enjoy the food. While there are some items on the menu that I would not order again, the reality is that you come here for a cheap and hearty meal. I typically order the Woodchuck Special or the Hungry Man. The service is always nice and they are quite accommodating and are quick to greet when guests walk in. The ambience is rustic and clean, with nice decor showing the history of FSU and Tallahassee.

    Breakfast Bowl

I've been coming here for the past decade, it has always been one of the best hidden gem locations in town. The wait can be EXTREMELY bad during peak times, especially on FSU game day weekend but it is well worth the wait for some great comfort foods. I got the breakfast bowl this time but their omelets are amazing, the burgers and sandwiches are great too. If you haven't come by to try this spot, you're missing out!

I can't believe I haven't updated my review in 7 years! What I can tell you is that Woodchuck's Cafe is still a great for breakfast! If you are a fan of traditional diners, then this place is for you. The menu covers all of the bases when it comes to breakfast, and then some. I've uploaded a menu so you can see the current prices and menu options. Suffice to say that they very likely have whatever you are in the mood for for breakfast. I went with a western omelette, home fries and a biscuit. Shortly after ordering the server came back and said that they were out of ham, but that I could substitute any other breakfast meat. So I went with a sausage patty. The omelette was full of filling and perfectly cooked. That home fries were delicious: thinly sliced potatoes are cooked on a flat top grill. I am a huge fan of the crispy bits of home fries, and I loved these. The biscuit was good, but not spectacular. The coffee was good, and they will bring you milk/cream if you ask (the table has containers of coffee mate). Don't let the location, next to a gas station mini mart, put you off. If you do, you'll be missing a great breakfast spot.

Ordered 1 biscuit vs the normal 2... all this for like 7 bucks!

Found this little divey diner gem on Yelp that had great reviews. They were not wrong. Greeted with a smile and told I could sit anywhere I liked and was asked what I'd like to drink before even sitting down. Coffee was in front of me within seconds and a menu and the young waitress asked if I would like any suggestions. She was sweet and we chatted a little about me being up in Tallahassee for the weekend and funny enough, she is moving to Tampa Bay for school in August. Good choice! One of my go to items to "test" a breakfast place is biscuits and gravy. After confirming the gravy is homemade with another wait staff member, I ordered my meal but with just 1 buscuits vs 2. She was also really sweet and ensured my order was done in a way to be more cost effective for me. GREAT customer service and I immediately thought how because of her actions, my savings on the bill was going directly to their tip. I noticed their display case had cupcakes in there that looked delicious even from afar so I got up to check out the situation. I learned that the owners (brother and sister) mother makes them. They weren't cupcake sized, they were muffin sized and only $2.79 each. Sold... okay maybe 3 were sold!! They weren given to me in individual to-go containers and the one had lots of toppings so was brought over to me without the lid because she didn't want to be the one to push it down and ruin the toppings herself. I thought that was cute. They all looked great so I understand her thoughts. When given my bill I was asked if I would like a to-go coffee. Everyone was very attentive and so nice. It was a great customer service experience on top of the great food. I mean, I could see the butter pieces within the biscuit let alone taste them. I actually thought about going back the next morning but made myself try another breakfast location.

Every time I am in Tallahassee I visit this location multiple times and this weekend wasn't any different. When I thought of breakfast I knew exactly where I needed to ho. It was a busy weekend so they were out of some of my favorite things but the secondary options I chose were just as amazing. I even managed to bring my niece one day and the next day she brought 2 friends along because the food was so good.

I absolutely fell in love with this little place. Talk about delicious southern cooking! It was so good I went twice back to back. I've never been to Tallahassee, but this is worth coming back. There service is also excellent and the food comes out fast! So for sure the breakfast bowl and the honey chicken tender bowl are a must! The chicken tender was so good! I added cheese cause well I love cheese. Oh and you won't be disappointed with their mimosas either. They give you these gigantic cups and they are very generous with the bubbles. I want to go back for their lunch menu. It all sounds amazing!

However, we were greeted warmly and pleasantly by the worker who helped us understand a bit more about the menu. She was so friendly. The restaurant was super clean and spacious. That was a nice touch. I was just a tad disappointed by the breakfast offerings because I was hoping for an omelet or pancakes. Also, the hashbrowns and home fries didn't seem to be the freshest. But the other items that I tasted were good. I did enjoy the tasty, creamy grits.

They have a limited menu of sandwiches, breakfast plates and a few soul food style meals. I ordered the fried pork chop sandwich and home fries. It came on a pretzel bun with lettuce, tomato and a lemon thyme mayo. The pork chop itself was well seasoned. My server forgot the mayo, though which made the sandwich dry. I also asked for the fries to be crispy, and they were not. It was only the second day for brunch, so I understood. They had a vegan fried green tomato sandwich, so they accommodated me by letting me order just the tomatoes as a side. I didn't taste any salt and it was twice the price of other sides, so I wouldn't get that again. They also have bottomless mimosas. The mango flavor was delicious! The waitstaff was very nice! They sang for my friend and chatted us up. Our server was struggling a bit to keep our orders straight. Overall, give them a chance. Once they work the kinks out (and add a salad PLEASE), it will be great!

Adams Street is a quiet street on this particular Saturday morning around 9:15 am. But inside the restaurant, there is a flurry of activity behind the counter, the aroma of breakfast makes us smile when we enter and there is a line that stretches to the door. Folks are waiting. Few dine in and most are carrying out several to go boxes per person. The prices are reasonable and for the portion size, I would say budget-minded. Get the Olean's omelette. It's generously sized and enough for 3 meals. It looks nothing like a traditional omelette. It reads more like a breakfast casserole. Eggs, potatoes, sausage, veggies and cheese. It's comfort food on a plate. I am so sorry I didn't take a photo to share. I highly recommend this meal option! My dining companion ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and plain grits. My dining companion stated they were the best restaurant grits they'd ever eaten. The bacon was piled high on his plate! He took 1/2 this meal home. Mrs. Olean is behind the counter and just as personable as can be. She sets the tone for hospitality and it shows with her courteous staff. There was ample parking. The dining room is small, probably 10 tables in all. Most seem to be taking bags with their to go containers. Few people leave with one container. We will certainly return for some of their lunch options next.
